Winter's Kiss

The bird’s house is capped with a snow drop.
The bird’s bath is a mushroom like form.
The branches all groan, snap, crackle, pop,
with the weight of the night’s snow so borne.

The cat’s on the rug near kitchen vent.
The furnace is pumping out more heat.
The tea kettle’s whistling with intent.
The old gal settles down with a sweet.

The car’s all shrouded, a sheet of white.
The trellis is a grand work of art.
Outdoors the benches all gleam with ice.
The new moon’s a rare, randy, upstart.

Darkness descends will a muffled whisper.
She sips tea and remembers who’s kissed her.

whispers in silence

What keeps me awake
When the cool breeze bears whispers of things to come
Promises to be fulfilled on the morrow?

Is it my joyless moment of cognizance
knowing that this stagnant night ripples from no real breeze
Only imagined promises birthed on the whims of a longing heart?

Yet, what keeps me awake
is not these dreams of flattering winds
but it is this night of lifeless branches and unrifled leaves
the lack of real whispering winds taunting my heart
What truly keeps me awake
Is the silence of tomorrow.

Missing Christ

I choose to celebrate the Savior's Birth.
A day of happiness, a day of worth.
I sometimes worry, it will disappear.
Christianity, is not welcome here.

I know my faith is not the only one.
When it's mentioned conversation is done.
We are just talking why is there such fear.
Christianity is not welcome here.

There was a time, when at school we could pray.
A distant memory from yesterday.
Christ has been removed, from holiday cheer.
Christianity is not welcome here.

I think you should celebrate in your way.
Everyone should have there own special day.
When I'm restricted, it brings on a tear.
Christianity is not welcome here.

JUST AIN'T WHAT IT USED TO BE

Christmas time all smiles and cheer…. Is what it supposed to be this time of year…. I know some would say "It is" and will happily agree, But I’m sure some feels like me…. That Christmas just isn’t what it used to be…. All I seem to hear is what you get me!!! It’s like the spirit just left!! Taking all its glorious wonders to see… Leaving us with nothing but some presents and a tree…. Now where’s the joy in that u tell me???

NO THANKS I AM FULL AND DON'T WANT ANY WHORE

I’M FULL THANKS AND DON’T WANT ANY WHORE

I am a transient with words unspoken
I am a soul who’s been damaged and broken
For years I lived someone else’s life
Being my son’s little league coach and picking up a drunken wife
I’m an unrighteous man who’s weary and far too tired
And cannot find my way out of the muck in which I’m mired
I yearn for consistency yet find only daily different circumstances
A mortal who is always and forever taking chances
All I want is one place to live until I live no more
And in essence I have become Jesus Christ’s finest whore
I am a troubled transient

More Than A Dream

Written in honor of Black History Month-February 2010-

I have a dream……
That there will be no more labels of “Black” or “White”
That people will come home to their families and relax at night
I have a dream……
That no one will second guess, because of my skin color, my character
That I will never in my life hear the words, “Nigger” or “Cracker"
I have a dream……
That should I marry a black woman it will be totally acceptable in society
That people of all races would not be judged by their tastes in variety
I have a dream…….
That if I have a bi-racial child he or she will be accepted by their peers
That they’ll be given an equal chance to pursue their choice of careers
I have a dream…….
That more leaders, like Dr. Martin Luther King will be raised
That the tragedy of his death would be erased
I have a dream…….
That all races will stand hand-in-hand, until the “Twelfth of Never”
That people in the world would become color- blind, forever
I have a dream……
But….this is more than a dream to me
I pray that I may awake and find these things have become reality!!!

A Thin Line

Killing you wouldn’t justify
Lustfully breaking the laws

Campmeeting Grounds / Martha's Vineyard 2009

Summer lay lazily over the land
The languid weight of wind and water
bowing tree limbs,
chasing sand squalls over sidewalks.

Cyclist meander dreamily down aisles
of rose of Sharon shrubbery
past banks of day lilies
and Pez purple hydrangeas.

Tourist, as colorful as the flowers,
buzz busily through seaside shops
in flip flops the color of Necco wafers.

Their gummy soles making
sucking sounds upon the linoleum.
In a gingerbread slumber
like fairytale children, they gather;
in pink, lime-green, and purple houses
The poor of a Christian God have become
the rich of a capitalist nation
and they hoard their paper-lantern dream.

IS IT RESOLVED

The holidays are a time when we hold loved ones close

making New Year's resolutions to be better and not so morose.

With trimming the tree, the gifts, the cards, the good wishes for all

Spending too much time and money at the mall.

Our hangover on Jan 2nd makes our resolutions go out the windows.

Valentine's need apply

I gave up on you years ago
Felt love in my life had to go
Felt free and strong without care
Never needing wanting another there

Life has changed so much since then
Looking inside I take to pen
Wonder have I grown up yet
To include something more than a pet

Another February comes to be
Alone again hello, just me
Valentine's day it comes and goes
Will I again receive a rosé?

Will this be the year I'm ready to see
If someone can share their life with me?

Friday the 13th

13
riding out the night
searching for that solar storm
instead, up ahead
columns of wind
breach the scene
green trees clobber the place
as bedlam pulls out the white swords
and once again it's on

808 Boom!
808 Boom!
808 Boom!

moonlight exsanguinated
even though it was full as can be
no sign of Jason Voorhees either
maybe he's graduated from the mask

this place ain't so scary
I said,
"THIS PLACE AIN"T SO SCARY!"

" Bahama Nation"

A nation of peace,a nation of pride
A nation that's spread far and wide.
A nation of hope,a nation of joy,
Thats free for all, man, women ,girl and boy.

A nation to give,a nation to take
A nation filled with reggae, socca, calypso and rake and scrape.
A nation of colors; black,gold,aqua....sometimes called blue
can be seen everywhere above land and under sea too.

A nation of democracy and old english style, but things sure have changed if you
look up our file.
From outside rock stoves,to TV,radio, computers and wi-fi connectivity.........
I'd say that a long way from July 10 1973.

An nation filled with hospitality, love and history,
Arawaks,Caribs and American Indians are the basis of our nationality.
A nation where Tourism is number one, because of the Bounty of sand sea and sun.

Yes,a nation of Youth, sports ,culture, uniqueness and island fashion trends,
Like native Androsia our own local blend......and straw work and junkanoo, the list has no end.
This nation of beauty, splendor and self defense ;yes its celebarting its own INDEPENDENCE.

Beautiful Lies

December 18, 2012

Beautiful lies known as little white lies
yet one is no more deceptive than each
The truth is what makes it afraid of light
It's important we practice what we preach

Imagination built on lies destroy
Imagination built on truth create
Conquering evil we try to avoid
Tooth fairy, Halloween, Santa abate

Perceptions and images make it real
Origins of Pagan rituals true
We've wandered down this path for a bum deal
Now more lies are created all brand new

The mask behind a beautiful white lie
is the truth with a constant shield, but why?

This Independence Day July 4th

To my fellow Americans,
during this 4th of July.
I have a thought.. . Here's why…

When we salute our flag
 ever so grand.
Our country's foundation
 is sinking in "quicksand."

This is because. From God...
We're way "off course."
Driven by lust, greed
 and an "immorality force ."

Much ungodliness continues to rule.
As God has been
removed from our schools!

We hear of "separation of
church and state."
Anything of God...
Many people seem to hate!

America! Listen to what
this message is about!
Everything of God is
slowly being taken out!

We must return to Jesus!...
He gives true freedom indeed!.
The truth word of God’s .
Our country must read!

Living for God is worth the cost!
Without HIM...
 America is forever lost!

Two-Fifty-Four

Two-Fifty-Four
©2012 C. Brent Cloyd

I bought a new scale at the Wal-Mart store.
Made it secure and level on the floor.
I took a breath, then stepped on.
The digits I saw made me moan.
Surely, I do not weigh two-fifty-four!

Let’s balance the scale, then I’ll try once more.
Adjusted proper, they’ll give the right score.
This time the scales will behave.
I stepped on, tried to be brave.
But with a grin they said “two-fifty-four”.

I would like to throw these scales out the door.
Wish they were lying, but I can’t ignore.
I’ve gobbled many things sweet
And chewed on too much red meat.
My expanding poundage is “two-fifty-four”.

My belly is huge, my chin is galore.
Need to lose it, but process is a chore.
Need diet low in fat and starch.
So my stomach will not arch.
Hope to be smaller than “two-fifty-four”.

Would a brisk walk cause my health to restore?
Would losing blubber help me not to snore?
Let’s get started. Soon I say!
Well - after the holiday!
Cause my clothes don’t fit at “two-fifty-four”.

POLITICALLY CORRECT, MORALLY INEPT

America the beautiful, home of the brave,
One Nation under God, marked upon their graves,
Our founding fathers built this land,
“In God We Trust,” they made their stand.

A nation built with strong convictions,
Free from British Rule,
“I Pledge Allegiance To The Flag,”
Was said in all our schools.

There was a time when we would pray,
After each and every meal,
Cite the Ten Commandments,
Let The Master do His Will!

“HONOR THY FATHER AND MOTHER,
THAT THY DAYS BE LONG AND STRONG,
LOVE THY NEIGHBOR AS YE LOVE THYSELF,”
Is sung within our songs.

A New Light shines upon us,
A Fire from down below,
Satan is spreading his political views,
Erasing all that we’ve come to know.

The prayers that once were said in schools,
Became “A Moment of Silence,”
The paddling we received from the Principal’s rule,
Has been replaced by murder and violence.

“SPARE THE ROD AND SPOIL THE CHILD,”
Is Exactly what we have done,
Children running amuck and wild,
Shooting parents with their guns.

The Special Day we celebrate, each and every year,
The day in which our Savior was born, filled with joy and cheer,
Has become a day of infamy, a name we must not say,
Merry Christmas has been replaced, by Happy Holidays…

Celebrating Peace in Solitude - Collaboration with Sandra Stefanowich

Christmas day... scents from your chimney waft my way curtains aside, a dozen cars are dusted by snow boys in your yard cry out while pitching snowballs sensing both comfort and sadness holidays go on, even when stillness fills your home surrounded by memories of Christmases long past wondering what it would feel like to have family again don a shawl, footsteps crunch in fresh snow seeing a visitor from across the street, I wave while on my way to join a neighbor’s celebration preparing to smile at countless nameless faces aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews the “lady nextdoor” self consciously mingles aching for solitude; dreading it as well the visitor comes to mind, is she feeling the same where alone, holiday survivors learn to appreciate the peace.... I see a lady making her way next door she smiles and waves from across the street I give her a smile and wave back grateful for a moment to stall before going in we all showed as we said we'd do a gathering of "family" to pay our due appearances to appease somewhere else I'd rather be on this day is when I feel the most alone this feeling of distance when I'm in this home stilted, polite, unease when there's nothing left to say it was long ago, when we all went our separate ways it's gets too hard to remember reliving the yesterdays of December dreading being here, when solitude is what I want I wonder about that lady, is she feeling just like me where alone, I find refuge in the peace

Le Vacance Pretentieuse: Going Home

What is it to see the soil of home again?
A welcome, snow-struck and a return
To cold; sharp white contrasts sunburn.
We converse in broken tongues to men

We know, hooked on holiday language
Comprised of wandering hand signs.
Collect the car and pay parking fines,
Drive through towns and over a bridge

Until we reach the Western gateway.
Oh when will we arrive at our house?
No camels there, only field mouse
Which are eaten by our cat anyway.

The plane flies for an age, slyly yawning
Through the stretching, pealing sky,
A knife through air; what it is to fly.
Our travels over; a new day is dawning.

Valentine Romance

Valentines day is always something special to me, I explained.
So I planned a romantic evening and got ready for my campaign.
The children were at a sleepover with their favorite friends they adore.
So I met my hubby as he came in, accidentally tripping and making him hit the door.
Thank God his head is hard as he hit that, the nearby TV, but very little more.
I made Cherries Jubilee as a snack while he sat there with an ice pack to his head.
But before I knew it, I’d knocked it over and almost burned down the house instead.
When he finally put the fire extinguisher away…
I got up and got some of the kids’ apple tarts I had made.
He bit in deep and burned his mouth, declaring he wasn’t hungry and the pain would fade.
Next he decided to go upstairs, but I had put rose petals down everywhere in spades.
And yes you probably guessed it… he slipped and ended up needing a little aide.
At this he decided to take an aspirin and lay down upon the couch. OH HHWell…
But I knew the rest needed to happen above, to totally create this romantic spell…
I had to get him to the candles and bubble bath, where my romantic dreams still dwelled.
So I got out some scarves and danced toward him, tying up his hands before he fell.
He never knew what hit him as he was lassoed and gently bounced up the stairs.
I guess I wouldn’t have had to tie his feet… a few words would have done as well.
But you know me when I get going, my mind tends to lose a few brain cells…
He was flustered, exhausted and bruised when he got there, but he’s made of the right stuff.
Though as I took off the scarves, he flopped on the bed pulling the covers over his head kind of rough.
He said he loved me, but living with me could be kind of tough.
He said it was better to leave it to him, for the romantic endeavors and such.
He said he had reservations and play tickets in his shirt pocket for later on that night.
But what he needed now was some aspirin and a few moments of quiet respite.
So with a sigh he started snoring, and my romantic dreams were momentarily crushed.
I dearly love the man you know. But, do you think maybe I tried too much?

marking time....to my friends on poetry soup.- the Lord helped me fight death and won.

i don't want to be just marking

time. i died on november 20,

2008, during surgery. i was

on a vent when i awakened

december 2, 2008....my sisters'

birthday. what made me llive

i'll never know. i know there

are things to do on this side

of death.

i have no time for marking time.

i have a stupid bag hanging from

my side now. i am supposed to

"get comfortable with it". well

that was a laugh.

that was a laugh until i thought

of the people that had these

things with no hope of ever

getting away from them.

i am so lucky. 14 days i laid

on a vent, then 22 more.

i came home 3 days,

then

i had
great pain in my chest...
.
well this is great i said,

a pulmonary emboli, 15 more

days, three days home.

then back to e.r. blood pressure

too high. this bought me

4 more days in e.r.

i am home now and finally

have spent 19 days home.

i feel every pain and i feel

every time that i feel good

yes, i am never marking

time again.....there is

something about fighting

for your life and your sanity

that straightens things out.

i don't recommend it but

i wish i could let your hearts

know what i know.

Kamikaze Khristmas

I was shaken, my jingle bells taken, ornaments on a runaway corporate sleigh
It had nitrous oxide, investors selling so high, stuffing stockings with my pay
There were elves with cleavage, garters and high heels, twirling on candy canes
And then there was Santa, 10,000 I fathom, having a Bud and watching the game

Oh what have I done, my mistletoe belt buckle undone, clutching a coupon in pain
From my confusion arose, a few sticky ho ho’s, caroling Christmas has come again
Frozen my chatter, this rooftop never fatter, held hostage by a holiday of cheer
Building superstores for a thrill, reindeer on the grill, our 24 hour savior is here

I threw open the door, red tagged a commercial whore, a price check I was needing
Not to my surprise, this place had supersize fries, and just a hint of insider breeding
Cross-eyed speaking, restroom reeking, why the see-through thong with the GPS
Kamikaze carts diving, my crippled heels crying, damn you people for having sex

Bruised and battered, a world raptured, by a fat man with a bulging sack
Barbies with inflatable boobies, Hentai movies, Christ please hurry back

I'm so Thankful For My Father

Lord… I’m Thankful For My Dad!

Lord, during this special day, I’m so glad…
For giving to me such a special dad!

He’s been very thoughtful and kind!
Fathers like him are very hard to find!

I remember growing up with my brothers…
He was special to us, like “no other!”

As a young boy, he taught me God’s ways.
And I’ve kept it throughout my days!

I’ve often sought his advice and counsel…
Especially when life
was looking “awful!”

He was there to give support
 the best he could.
Trying to help the best way
 he understood.

I suppose now that I’m growing old…
I’m remembering more things that my dad told!

“My father is one in a million.”
 Is what I believe.!
Many blessing from him
 I have received!

May the blessings of God daily surround him!
I’m so thankful that my mother found him!

Thank you Lord for giving to me a dad like this!
May his days ahead be happy
 and blessed!

A New Year Reflection

Partys for couples new lovers and just friends.
Music to fill the night the streets of New york
breath life to old flames keeping even jaded souls warm.

The lonley gather round the TV.
sharing a glimpse at something we all yern to have.
And from the up high the streets seem magic tonight.

the soudtrack of the night will echo
into are hungover minds with a painful yet happy reminder
of last nights celebration.

Late night lovers will smile and go there awkward ways.
So many acts in so many different plays.
creeping back to are corners in lastnights suit and tie.
Tight little black dress kiss worn lips
acting happier than two kids ragged in need of a shave
you with hair in a mess.

And for friends that gather to relive not so real
past glory.
The pages are left to the writter.
To add to lastnights not so original story.

As the barflys gather to battle another unsober day.
I watch this first new day anew.
Take a sip from my flask and thank the lord
for one more year with you.

And tonight I say to you all raise that glass.
kiss that stranger you know so well.
Laugh love and live.
And thank whomever ya choose weve made it through another
year to tell.

Thanks Giving

                                                   THANKS GIVING

Walking backward Ill prepared I face things head on, but not the bitter wind. I turn my
back as I face my goodbyes , walking away I wave to my old problems: With a snarling
bite, the cold wind leaves me pierced and belittle.
Walking backwards I dare not face whats in store for me. Until this wind subsides and
treats me fairly, I will walk backwards slowly less I stumble. After my bones are chilled to
the core. I reach my abode, devastated and delighted, the fireplace lit and flickering. Still
afraid I wonder "what if" and I blame God,discounting the rescues; Then with every melting
bone and every thawing toe, I thank him/her, then realizing how awesome man is and how
far we have come. Annoyed I say begrudgingly "Thank you God " for this fire, and for
bringing us out of the cold wilderness. I say this hoping not to entertain the "What If's" again.

Forces, forcing me to open my eyes and realize that at any moment I could walk
backwards again, backward in the cold with nowhere to run, without relief; I can't think of
anything worse. So how can I or anyone come out of the cold ,and sit by the fire, while the
frost filled Ohio wind rolls off the Erie lake. Passing desperate people I want to collect them to
come and sit by the fire with me. I must love my neighbor, and share the warmth, the
fire ,the food,my home. In the old days we could, I cant live like this,,,,sitting a by the fire
alone, I think to my self "What If".

A New Year's Prayer

Heavenly Father, hear my plea
At your altar on bended knee.
Prayers I offer for those I love,
Prayers to you Lord, up above.
You have seen the mess we've made.
Not the plans that you had laid.
Everywhere there's war and sadness
Where there should be peace and gladness.
You must be disappointed in us all,
Each of us who ignored your call.
All mankind should this year strive
Really hard to keep humanity alive.
Lord please help us do our best
On your behalf, a peaceful quest.
Rid this earth of anger and hate.
Don't let our past dictate our fate.

Daisies are Stubby,
Daffodills have a Spout,
Watch out for Cupid,
For He's Sure to be Out.

Poppies are Red,
Forget-Me-Nots are Blue,
Be Sure to get Flowers,

Marigolds are Short,
While Sunflowers are High,
Chocolates are Sweet,
Prepare for your Cutie-pie.

Pink Pansies with Petals so Soft,
Lily of the Valleys that Smell so Sweet,
This Time and Day you Must Share,
Dinner on the Town will Be a Nice Treat.

Some Flowers like to Climb,
While many Others Seem to Crawl,
A Smile - Tight Hug with a Gentle Kiss,
Realizing your Efforts were Worth it ALL !

Do You Believe In Easter?

Do You Believe In Easter?
Not colored eggs and treats.
But a crown of thorns on Jesus head.
Nails in His hands and feet.

Do You Believe In Easter?
Not Mardi Gras or ashes.
But Jesus who was crucified
And scourged with many lashes.

Do You Believe In Easter?
Not Peter Cotton Tail.
But Jesus Christ our Saviour
Who saved our souls from hell.

Do You Believe In Easter?
Not really knowing why.
Now you know the old old story.
Believe and receive everlasting life..

The True Meaning Of Easter

The True Meaning of Easter

The true meaning of
the Easter story,
Is God’s Son came down
to Earth from glory.

Jesus really does
love you and me.
He was born to die
that you might be free.

For 33 years, he lived
among sinful men.
Then one day was to be
an atonement for our sin.

He who was born of the
virgin Mary’s womb.
Was to one day rise again
from an empty tomb.

So many people have
gotten into a habit,
of replacing Jesus
with the bunny rabbit.

So please reach out to others
and let them know,
Of the lover and redeemer
of their soul.

The true meaning of Easter
must forever be said.
Of God’s son who died,
but arose from the dead!

I’m so thankful for the breath I have to breathe… Until that one day, from this earth, I shall leave. I’m so thankful for the way God has made so evident. The principles of his word… Are so relevant! I’m so thankful for the beauty and glory he’s shown… It has brought blessings and healing to my home! I’m so thankful for the many things he’s done for me… He’s given me his love which flows abundantly! I’m so thankful that each day,.. Is another to live for him… He’s taken away my pain and has forgiven every sin. I’m so thankful that I can write these words from my heart. I know that he’s with me. And he’ll never depart! I’m so thankful that you’re reading what I’ve been saying… May this cause you to once again start praying! I pray that this same Jesus I know… Who’s merciful and kind… Will speak words of hope to you and give you a peace of mind. I pray that before you go to bed and this day has ended. You’ll allow Christ to have your heart “amended.” Thank you Lord! For what you’ve done and are going to do… It’s another way that I can say “I LOVE YOU!” Thank you Lord! For all that I‘ve received and so much more… You’ve made my life complete… And are worth living for!

- to all- good night.

angels are sprawled
in the longest reach my children could snow-afford on my former green lawn
over-played carols over-play the car ride to the store, where they will continue
an embarrassment of lights dangle ‘side a staple-holed roof trim
somewhere not ‘nough off too far
there are
yards watching snowmen come and go
behind the windows that hold kitchens
the bills are a pilin’
the car’s in the driveway needing to be plugged in
the mailman’s griping ‘bout the weight of his sack
dropping off cards he’d gladly drag back
the t.v.’s got little relief
there’s a log burning on a 24 hour channel
that someone someday will commercial
the crap out of
office parties forum the drunk, “Here’s what I really think of you…”
spark the short lived, misappropriate romance
the mall cattle call. . . from parking lot to till
warrants wrappings to be hauled away
to some landfill
waiting for Valentine’s Day

Something is it

Something is in it, a sort of drug or mischief
Something is in it, the sudden hope's rebirth
Something is in it, the new urge for all to give
Something is in it, something cuddled in the earth

And every December this thing awakens, marched
Upon the soul of men, and they inbreathing it
Like rain sucked into a desert lung, dry, empty parched
Sends unwreathing forth a mist-bright spirit

Let them jingle bells and burn their logs by trees
Hung with decadence and lies, I shall remain alone
In custom melancholy, unaffected by the breeze
I will not behold the Medussa that turn all to stone

Just Another Happy New Year

Another year of poverty and grief
To stand on welfare lines for dough
To beg the government, the biggest thief
For what I deserve, and what they owe

I can laugh and cry at the drop of a dime
This isn’t the life I was meant to live
And feeling hope is a waste of time
When I used up all I had left to give

I wish Kutcher could say “you’ve just been Punk'd”
And Murry could tell me “Trump is your father”
If life is a school, I’ve surely flunked
And I’m wondering why I even bother

Can’t off myself either, I’d die with regrets
Ten thousand dollars is the Reaper’s fee
It’ll only add to my parent’s debts
Because nothing in life or death is free

Go on and shrink my masochistic brain
Nothing cures poverty like an addiction to pills
Replace my love for self-sabotaging pain
With a dependence on numbing refills

Money can buy the happiness I need
So like a starving dog, I beg and yelp
I ask God for money, but not out of greed
But because it’s the only thing that can help

New panic attacks set in for ‘09
No job, no money, no cure for my fear
Just another day to pretend that I’m fine
It’s just another happy new year

What If Christmas Never Came

What If… Christmas Never Came??? What if Christmas never happened? What if Christmas never came? Things around here would be different! It wouldn’t be the same! What if the baby Jesus was never born in a manger? Mankind would be in serious trouble! We’d all be in danger! If the baby Jesus wasn’t born. There would be no nativity. We wouldn’t be able to display this during our “festivity.” It’s almost like this now! It’s an “ever increasing business.” It seems like nearly everyone wants “Christ out of Christmas!” Why does it seem like Christmas is losing it’s true meaning? The very words; “Merry Christmas,” seem to be quickly disappearing! Many say; “Happy Holiday.” They worry they may “offend.” Having a “holiday” without Christ…. Once again! We need to put Jesus Christ back into our CHRISTmas season! He is what Christmas is about! HE is the very reason! May we all take some time to rejoice in our savior’s birth. May there be shouts of JOY! From the corners of the earth! Let’s not take Christ out of our joyous celebration! We need him so much right now! All over this great nation! May we bring to him a heart of love for everything he’s done. As we bring honor to Christ. God’s precious son! May we continually offer to him a heart filled with praise! Not only at Christmas time… But all of our days! By Jim Pemberton 12/05/11

Another Lonely Christmas

Preface: This was written long ago and I, just by the way of surviving see things a little different these days. BUT! I am going to post it anyway. MERRY CHRISTMAS! :)

Christmas is coming and theres nothing I can do.
Its become the hardest time of year since the day that I lost you.
People hurry scurry and skidoo.
While I'm locked inside and feeling blue.

These bars upon my window, they're not made of steel.
And that you cannot see them, doesn't mean that they're not real.
I've called out in anger.
And I've called out in prayer.
But silence is the only sound that fills the empty air.

I spend christmas eve with family galore.
Then I pick up my few gifts and head out through the door.
Its strange, because I never thought that I'd become.
A sorrowful, lonely, tired old bum.
When 40 years old is still yet to come.

Destiny doesn't always play fair.
If it did, in your heart I'd know that you still care.
But I know now that someone else sits in my place.
At your dining room table all covered with lace.
So home with my empty and tired old soul.
Where ever Santa only brought me a small lump of coal.
Another lonely christmas, without a doubt.
Dear Jesus, please tell me, just what's it all about?

My New Years Resolution

Stop judging harshly
Wipe the "doormat" off my head
Learn to love myself.

(To achieve these goals is a process, but I am determined to get there.)

Another Year That Came and Went

This has been another year that came and went!
I often wonder, where has my time been spent?

It seems like yesterday, we rang in the new year!
But, very quickly, it has all just “disappeared.”

I think about my accomplishments, goals and dreams.
Do they matter anymore? Do they mean anything?

This life I have, is just but a brief moment in time.
One day, I’ll simply leave everything fast behind!

My relationship with Christ is what really matters!
Everything else in life, is just “empty chatter!”

I pray that as this new year comes and goes…
My relationship with Christ will continue to grow!

The older I get, I’m beginning to see!
I need much more of Jesus, and less of me!

He is what’s needed! Whatever this year holds!
I need him more, as each year I grow old!

With each year, that comes and passes me by…
I want more of Jesus, until the day I die!

He is my friend, what is certainly needed!
With him in me, my life is completed!

Thank you Lord for this brand new year!
You are the one I’ll hold ever so dear!

No Longer Numb

He was my vision of a good life.
I soon, became his new wife.
Celebrations were grand
Then, we did not demand.
Together we shared goals…hoped.
Disappointments came, we coped.
I gave all that she had.
Through the good and the bad.
At Christmas, I lavished him with gifts.
I could have written his book of festschrifts
Anything he wanted, I would try to buy.
I went all out, do or die!
Birthdays came, I was never remiss.
My joy was his happiness.
Material things for me, he did dismiss.
Instead, he gave me his sweetest kiss.
At first, I was only sad.
Later I became very mad!
Later, the economy failed,
Some of our dreams bailed.
But love was not lost.
Amid differences tossed.
Eventually, I began to learn
Even through disappointment’s burn.

Wisdom brought its hum.
Now, I am no Longer Numb.
Pure love is loveliest…
When selfishness is lowliest.
To give freely without expectation of return is bliss.
To give with dreams of reciprocation… dismiss.

Poetry About Poetry

Shades of color bounce within
Singing their hues dancing in place
Vivid lines colored outside
Rules broken with empty space
A midnights dream heard and seen
Gleaming from the twinkle of a eye
Wings touched flown and plucked
Gliding like a bird up in the sky
Wishes from pennies thrown into tears
The reservoir over flowing with pigments of pain
Drowning from the shadows
The flood paints the day
Words speak volumes of silence hidden
Their sounds blind to what they see
Mirrors of nouns and verbs
Their meaning and secrets lost at sea
Emotions ruled by laws of language
Spelled in boxes of glass
Melted from sands inside
That voices strangle to grasp

Darkness Saturates

Darkness saturates, surrounds Palms
Gales force winds whip_ glass door
Shakes with the gust, lights slowly glide
Across ocean or shore

The wind brings mixed emotions
Sounds of surf, trees sighing
Bring a relaxed peace but also
Fear_could get worse_storm bring

Most all situations seem worse
In nights deepest darkness
But when dawn cracks the horizon
Rising sun fear undress

Thank you, God for the early morn
When quiet rules the scene
Peaceful time to commune, hear your
Call, on you learn to lean

The True Meaning of Christmas

The True Meaning of Christmas! During this Christmas, let’s celebrate Christ’ birth. It was for all of us that he came down to earth. As we think about Bethlehem and the baby boy… We shout glad tidings to all! And peace and joy! This young child was to one day touch all of mankind. His message of salvation… Today… You can find! As we celebrate and fill up with holiday cheer… This same Jesus is alive today… And is always here! Though 2000 years ago, he was born in a manger... You can know him NOW! He doesn’t have to be a “stranger.” Won’t you spend some time and reflect on Christmas’ true meaning? It’s in the merciful arms of Jesus that you need to be leaning! The good news of Christmas can certainly be found… Across this nation. Every city… And town! This same Christ can bring peace to your life today! He loves you much more than words can say! May HIS love bring peace and healing to your weary soul… It’s only in him, that you can be complete and whole!!! By Jim Pemberton

Alone

The Christmas tree stands alone
But still decorated with lights glowing
The family has come and gone

A misty tear drop with a quiet groan
Remembering the days when they were home
The Christmas tree stands alone

Wanting little ones to come and crawl in zone
Of the blanket, packages, and decorations
The family has come and gone

Leftover food, torn wrap, lights that shone
Guiding them to this warm old home
The Christmas tree stands alone

Dirty dishes, soiled placemats, candles blown
Still longing for them at home
The family has come and gone

Time passes, situations change
The love in my heart remains the same
The Christmas tree stands alone
The family has come and gone

Wishes

There’s no snow to be had around here;
But it is somewhat cold and I wonder;
What would it be like;
To be given the title of Grandfather.
I think it’s like;
Never having spoken the words;
Hello mother.
It’s not going to happen but I insist on;
Keeping my heart open;
And continue to believe.
     I’ve been in some bad places;
     Of course I was hiding in the dark looking;
     For somewhere to call home.
     Feeling so abandoned;
     Unwittingly hurting;
     Those that cared the most.
     I’m still paying for that;
     I hope forgiveness comes;
     When all of this is finally over;
     And I get to;
That place I can call home

I’m keener on the getting to the end these days;
I do the best I can to offer a hand when I can.
I don’t blame anyone anymore;
Not even myself.
 I expressed my sorrows;
And confessed my regrets;
And in so doing;
I’ve come to know the gift of love;
That perhaps I never had coming before.
But perhaps that’s the way of it for us all
Therein my friends;
Like long ago before;
My time or yours;
From he and his;
Who had no easy beginnings also.
I wish us all;
Love;
Peace;
And joy.

SEA TO SHINNING SEA

SEA TO SHINNING SEA,

...this is so intimate of time, as a first kiss of time is...so close of soul, so near, so dear of heart beat, so precious a rhyme that flows so intimately,

deep of time, down by the Crystal Seas...

...this is so intimate of dreams,
dreaming reality,

as the Crystal Sea so reveals of destinies galore,
sparkles,
destined as the night light of the moon-glows of starry eyes,
upon the waters,

...gazing

...seeing tranquility upon the waves...
watching to the depth of a dream,
and a sun-rise

being so true...

for underneath and within this a moon-lit poem of starry night eyes, down by the Crystal Seas, a vessel sets sail upon the deep...into a kiss of dawn...

Sea to shinning Sea.

New Year's Eve 2003

Unconditional love in 2003 was the greatest gift ever given to me.
Matrimony ceremony dressed in pink; wedded bliss satisfied our link.
At 12:01 we two, that morn’, gave assurances of life, which love adorned.
We began the day with laughter and smiles, which has followed us these many miles.
Love together has known hopes riches on mountaintops and through some hitches.
January first, for better or for worse, we celebrate life with our dreams immersed.
The perpetual gift of not so long ago still sees us smile as we feel loves glow.
Each year after Christmas has come and gone we renew our vows to make us strong.
Then I sit back reflecting on the decision made, hopping upon life’s new cascade.
And I know in my heart, we continue strong; New Year’s Day we rejoice in love’s song.

This Thanksgiving Day

During this time known as Thanksgiving Day. I hope you'll give thanks and pray. A prayer of thanks for everything God has given. He has blessed us in the way we've been livin'! Our country is blessed like no other. God has supplied our "bread and butter." He's given us the freedom, we've all enjoyed. Be thankful for your food, home and being employed. For those who've endured hardship... Thank God too! It's no secret how much he loves YOU! We find in the Bible... God clearly said; "I've never seen the righteous forsaken, Nor their children begging for bread." Thanks be to Jesus, for his love, mercy and grace. And for making my heart, "his special place." I am blessed and thankful to Jesus indeed. He's given me salvation and supplies my every need. I thank God for this special day in November. Thanksgiving is a day... I will always remember! Haiku Collection Number 1

Hot tropical night
tension, sweat drips, bodies move
it’s time to tango.

Trimmed in red, white, green
ornaments sparkle and shine
Christmas time is here.

Golden Buddha sits
wisdom comes from emptiness
Shakyamuni, be.

White flakes falling down
glitters like stars in the sky
go up, ski down, weeee!

Swish, swish, swish, left, right
swish, swish, swish, down from up high
hot cocoa awaits.

Sun sets, pale red sky
mountains darken, purple sight
love Colorado.

Eight tracks and cassettes
memoires of the eighties
tunes blares as we cruise!

Honking all the time
everyone waiting in line
wild geese eating.

Black bird walks funny
searching for a bite to eat
that finch got it first.

Strange and bizarre dance
colors moving back and forth
parking lot ballet.

We bid you welcome
to our home of happiness
come and share it’s wealth.

Friends arrive this night
smiles and laughter for all
would you like some tea?

Sadness, time to leave
wisdom and cheer must be spread
to those that have need.

Cloud covered moon glows
eerie light darkens, pitch black
the wolves howl no more

Hold On To The Best, Forget The Rest by Ronald S Porter

Should auld acquaintance be forgiven?
Seek not dear darling, to be shriven.
With all the sweet torments of love
you once visited on my heart, the same
measure for meaure did I, on you, employ.
Call to mend; healing now the only joy.

The rapture, ripe, that we once shared,
I know (and my hope is that you do too)
with all we were, we truly cared.
The love we gave: me to you; you to me
I will always hold treasured, in memory.
Keep the best, forgive and forget
we'll take a cup of kindness yet...

Holiday Gift

The greatest gift I ever got, came with a year that definitely was not.
Health costs and a scam had emptied everyone’s pot.
The tree was bare with nothing to hand out…
And my son had to work thru the Christmas Holliday, we all sought.

We wished him home but he had to work if he was to eat.
And for several years he had not wanted, with us to be.
But this year had taught him we were better than he had perceived.
And he wanted to come home to hold and be hugged, you see.

At the last moment he got the Christmas Day off.
Our gift to him was the price of gas and food on the four-hour trip back.
But his gift to us… you see was the greatest of all…
For he wanted to come home and simply be with us all.

Twenty-four hours minus 8 hours on the trip.
Dinner wasn’t much but it was all we could give.
But no one noticed as everyone talked…
It truly was the greatest holiday present of them all… that we ever got.

Thank you God... your gift to us wasn't lost.

Reflected Tears

The child is gone.
The tree is here.
The village windows lit.
Laughter’s left. Joy’s remiss.
Mistletoe brings no kiss.

A sad sight, alone at night,
not one to bring true cheer.

The child is gone.
The Christmas tree is here.
The village’s windows lit.
Beneath the tree the gifts are wrapped
mere tokens, reflect the tears.

The child within, the child without.
The scarcity is clear.
No amount of Christmas lights can quell
the loneliness I feel.

This Fourth Of July

This 4th Of July To my fellow Americans, during this 4th of July. I have a thought.. . Here's why… When we salute our flag ever so grand. Our country's foundation is sinking in "quicksand." This is because. From God... We're way "off course." Driven by lust, greed and an "immorality force ." Our ungodly government continues to rule. Anything of God has been removed from the school. We hear of "separation of church and state." Anything of God... Many people seem to hate! America! Listen to what this message is about! Everything of God is slowly being taken out! We must return to Jesus!... He gives true freedom indeed!. The truth word of God’s . Our country must read! Living for God is worth the cost! Without HIM... America is forever lost! Self-delusionment of Open-mindedness

Hidden safe in my cozy shell, there is nothing to fear.
The world calls with it’s voice of adventure in the music of waves on sand and laughing
voices
I peek out, but
I am so timid, vulnerable, fragile--
Too scared of being poked and prodded
	burned and bustled—and so
Retreat into my barricade,
Held hostage by familiarity.

As I hear peace ring

Although the day is snowy and cold
Although the day is windy and bold
Although the streets are icy I’m told

I hear not a thing
As I only hear peace ring
Peace whispers saying barley a thing
As I silently smile to it’s warm tones as it sings

The day seems as night for it is so dark outside
Uninviting so cruel and not willing to hide
Never ending darkness it seems is all this day brings
Clear visions approach bringing the light
As I hear peace ring

Forgiveness to this day
As I hear the bells say
Ringing for peace and a brighter day.

Somebody Loves Me

Produced 50 yrs ago
My master Pravin Pant Sr.
Felt it was time for my Just Born coop to grow
So he introduced me to some other chicks
Bunnies bats cats pumpkins and
Even thought of placing some lucky stars
In for the heck of it what a day of cellabration
Now he has flipped his lid once again and took a few friends back
Had turned them into lip balms but I don't mind
For they will stay forever fresh on my lips as I speak of them
I been dropped off buildings had been steam rolled over
And each time I bounced back with zest
So please come rescue us from this crazy farmer
Place me in a warm basket or cake or even a dressed table
For I m just a little peep looking for somebody to love

Aire Kingdom

The way stretches forward, the infinity path
Every shape well defined, by the certainty of math
Great ferns surround, curved in huge Fibonacci arcs
While trees, gods of forest, are discontinuities in bark

The air is still and it's gentle touch oddly cool
And a visiting writer would lie about a pool
And a nymph. Or a vast Aire kingdom on high:
Beauty's present as the trees, though concealed from the sky

I followed her here, for where else would she dwell
Not hidden away in some black and white cell
The most perfect line, shaping me and my soul
Once my love now my breath, my quest takes a great toll

This cool jungle is our home as I try to define her:
I'm a textbook on the harm of obsession's spur.

Christmas - It's Just Another Day For Me

Christmas...

It's just another day
Another day for me

I won't get any presents
I won't sit beside a lighted tree

It's just another day
Another day to try and survive

Another day to try and find food to eat
Another day to try and stay alive

It always seems to be just another day
Another day to try and do my best

Another day to hug my children
Another day to pray to God to help me rest

Christmas is just another day...
Just as previous years have come before

Another day to sit and wonder
Where I'll be, when I don't have a house anymore

It's just another day to think about
Where and when things went all wrong

To wonder if all of our elected politicians
Care to see what is really going on

I am just an average American
who has always been just fine

But without a job to go too
I've fallen below the poverty line

I don't want to be here
I don't want to lose everything I own

I want to be able to afford the Internet
I want to be able to have a phone

I want to be able to have a car to drive
I want to able to go to work

I want my children to be safe and warm
I want to have some money in my purse

I am sick and tired of all of my days
Being unproductive and the same

I am sick of sleeping hungry and cold
I am sick of not knowing where I am going to stay

I am sick of my life being on hold
I don't want to have to live this way

So Christmas is just another day...
Another day for me to see

All the things that I am missing
Another year my children won't have a tree

But another day to love my children
The bright spots in my life

Another day to go to church and pray
for those who are living just like me
Those who are still living
Daily with my strife.

We Salute Our Veterans

We Salute Our Veterans…

We salute every soldier who’s
 served this great nation.
And offer a heart of thanks
 and appreciation!

We salute each member
of our armed forces.
And are thankful for their
 efforts and resources!

We salute the many who
protect our borders too.
We’d be in trouble…
If not for people like YOU!

We salute every son and
daughter lost in a war.
YOU are what serving this
 country is meant for!

We salute the officers who’ve
guided our women and men.
Our prayers are with you!
And our love from within!

We salute our veterans!
Wherever they may be!
Those who served on
 land, air and sea!

Offering prayer to the
 Lord is our belief…
That he will guide our
 Commander-in-Chief!

As we observe Veteran’s Day this year…
Let’s offer our soldiers
 love, hope and cheer…

May God bless them in
 all they endeavor
And his peace be with them
 today and forever!!

Sand and Sea

A light with bite that wounds the eye
is breaker borne. Ashore,
this bright morning burns
black holes into the retina:
sun spots that dot the dunes.
My vision sweeps, south to north,
a stretch of beach. Each wave,
which breaks then smooths to ripples,
retreating leaves its flotsam:
spume-laden seaweed and shells the sun
will bleach to blinding white in hours.
A swimmer bodysurfs to water's edge.
I sip my tonic, sponge my brow,
and, through tinted glass, confront
the terrace crowd of others, cowed,
like me, by youth, by sun, by sand and sea.

I Am Thankful For

Mom, Grandma, Nancy, Stephen, June
Laughing, talking, cooking past noon

Clean, fresh vanilla candle smell
Messy house means all is well

Christopher, David, Penny, Jan
My dog Short Stack; my biggest fan

Sweet caramel Hershey kiss
Sour lemon Lipton iced tea; Brisk

Melanie, Ashley, little James, Sebastian
Cousins sharing stories with great passion

Sincere talk with my lovely niece
Rough tug a war with my Maltese

Frank, Barb, Allen, Deby, Steve, Debi, husband, wife
All couples with true love in their life

Icy Crytsal Geyser water; cold
Steamy green bean casserole

Myself, Allen, Steph, Rob, Tami, Ron
Texas hold ‘em, reminiscing about Don

Innocent ones filled with love and hope
Raw feelings, finding strength to cope

Alicia, Terry, Frances, Marea, Gayle, Beth, Danielle
Close friends who about anything, I can tell

Together on opinions about men
Apart in our attractions to them

Icy chill in the air forcing others to touch
Friends and relatives we don’t see enough

Hot red bonfire, eggnog with brandy
Cold blue lips, children with candy

Missing my dad, wishing he was here
Taking comfort that others are near

Quiet glances, whiff of cigar smoke
Loud voices, sip of Bacardi and coke

This day is a day I will always remember
Memories to hold until next November

Hate how time slips away too fast
Love this day and want it to last

Here’s a toast to Thanksgiving Day 2010
Until next year when we celebrate again

What If Christmas Never Came

UNSUPPORTED CODE What If… Christmas Never Came???

What if Christmas never happened?
What if Christmas never came?
Things around here would be different!
It wouldn’t be the same!

What if the baby Jesus was never born in a manger?
Mankind would be in serious trouble. We’d all be in danger!

If the baby Jesus wasn’t born. There would be no nativity.
We wouldn’t be able to display this during our “festivity.”

It’s almost like this now!
 It’s an “ever increasing business.”
It seems like nearly everyone wants
  “Christ out of Christmas!”

Why does it seem like Christmas is
 losing it’s true meaning?
The very words; “Merry Christmas,”
seem to be quickly disappearing!

Many say; “Happy Holiday.”
They worry they may “offend.”
Having a “holiday” without Christ….
Once again!

We need to put Jesus Christ back into
our CHRISTmas season!
He is what Christmas is about! HE is the very reason!

May we all take some time to rejoice in our savior’s birth.
May there be shouts of JOY! From the corners of the earth!

Let’s not take Christ out of our joyous celebration!
We need him so much right now!
 All over this great nation!

May we bring to him a heart of love
 for everything he’s done.
As we bring honor to Christ. God’s precious son!

May we continually offer to him a heart filled with praise!
Not only at Christmas time… But all of our days!

WILL THAT BE RAPER OR DRASTIC

WILL THAT BE RAPEPERHAPS HE’LL FIND THE PLASTIC MILK JUG WE THREW AWAY
                                       TODAY
My wife demanded “come on and take this car and park it”
Oh heavens, wifey poo, what happens if we’re late for the market?
I really didn’t want any more loud conversation and neither did she
And to see if I was close enough to the curb she actually measured it accurately

So we go through the islands of rising prices
And the snack aisle was arranged by a demon’s devices,
We passed cookies and cakes, bread and bottled water
And of course condoms for our sixteen year old daughter

Our daughter is hyper-concerned with what we purchased today
She checks out the products and what the ingredients say
While little Billy is acting silly on isle six because that’s what children do
And he gets Fruit Loops or he’ll hold his breath until his face turns blue

My little girl said “this one is made of glass, and this one is made of plastic|
Dad, please tell Billy to be quiet because the situation is drastic
Glass can be recycled but plastic will be here for my great grandson to find
so we brought a cloth bag because recycling should be in every heart and mind

Corsica

I am part of the land
the granite and limestone
that contain relics
of man's beginnings.
I stand on the mountain looking
over the water, pure in its shades
of blue as it reaches into the
caverns along the coast.
The land rises to unknown heights
daring man to conquer it, to live on it.
The remnants of fortresses align the coast
standing guard against unknown forces.
From the Greeks and Romans I draw my blood
continuing the ways, the languages, as I observe
the Europeans with their yachts using
my land as a playground.

Wake up, morning

Wake up, morning
-
Waking up, from the cold water;
walking over it; a spider,
is moving with lame laziness
towards its unaware breakfast.

Heat generated first clouds,
the newborns, yelping, careening
intoxicated by youth,
are scattered here and there.

The boy discovers a treasure,
his father’s cassette collection.
Old tape-recorder whines and squeaks.
Armstrong sings, “it’s a beautiful world…”

An Arlington Christmas

Arlington Christmas

They stand there in ranks
Straight up and tall
Just like the day
When they answered the call
Row upon row
Section by section
They gave us their all
Without an exception
Some names are unknown
Some known are not there
But all get a marker
To show that we care
You see Army and Navy
Air Force and Marine
Privates to Presidents
And those in between
From Civil War soldiers
To Afghanistan
We honor our fallen
Every woman and man
And every Christmas
We lay on a wreath
To remember the soldier
That lies there beneath
As I gaze o're the graveyard
Of green wreaths on stone
I know that no family
Will e're grieve alone
For this country remembers
And honors each year
All those who have fallen
And are resting right here

Mdailey	12/25/11

I wrote this on Christmas day as I sat in my car and looked over the landscape of Arlington Cemetary.

A Time For Thanksgiving

During this time, of our way of living… We take a day that we call; “Thanksgiving.” The early pilgrims took time, to thank the Lord. Though there wasn’t much, they could “afford.” They wanted to thank God, for all he gave them! This was their way to really thank him! Over the years, and how this country’s leaning. It seems like we’ve lost it’s true meaning! We’ve so much pleasures and entertainment. I think we’re becoming “complacent.” As many are proud of they’ve “achieved.” Giving thanks to God is seldom received… It’s more than serving a turkey and dinner meal. Isn’t it time to thank God? Who made this all real! As we approach this time of the season… Let’s be thankful to God! And for good reason! He’s given everything we call as “our own.” He’s given our health and our home! It’s no secret what God’s done for you… Be thankful to him in everything you do! He makes it possible for you to be here! Let’s honor him! As Thanksgiving draws near! By Jim Pemberton

The shining blue and white

The shining blue and white
=====================
White enters inside,
the psyche is being blurred,
a tree’s chalky smile…

Winter, I am here now,
mist roams midst my mind
shining blue is worn by sky.

The eyes follow truths
reach a garden. Lost Eden.
A white unicorn hops

over my nervous system.
Is it love I see
in the shadows around me?

Migratory birds
flying over the blue lake.
My hands touch hers.

The Wreath pt. 1

Through a window peer pilgrim eyes
Which well knew Love's most blessed scars
And once had danced 'long side the sun
So many years a'past...

Yet emptied now but of some sliver small
Of Mercy's cursed remembrance,
Mocking, soothing, the balm of ghosts
Which ne'er shall breathe again...

Tho still they search,
Thus questing, live-
For hark! Some glimmer forms,
And fleshes bones of what then was...

But nay-as quickly born that light retreats
To the vales of Far-away...
As naught now crowns that moment's transit
Save the heart's stark vacant throne.

And so to saddened reverie
Return old eyes to loving glance
'Pon all the used-to-be-
Then a lone and fragrant tear for all the never-was...

Without The Box

So, there you are
Returned from fighting another mans war
Heard you’re quite the hero
Good for you my friend
Twenty years young
Couldn’t wait
To kick some terrorist ass
And so you did
So very well indeed I hear
Now you’re back
Nothing more to kick
What are you to do with yourself
Lying there as you are
Look at all of us here
To welcome you back
Can you not hear the joy
Can you not see the happiness
Or is it all hidden behind the tears
So here you are returned
In a flawless uniform
Lying there all smug and confident
With a peaceful look
Here you are returned
Fresh off the plane
In a nice tight package
Here you are returned
To never leave again
Good to have you back my friend
Only wish it could have been
Without the box

Moving Pieces

you spill into my life
i flood into yours
cool water
and
occasionally warm
h2o
waiting for a shower
to cleanse the days'
digressions
to build last nights'
feelings of bondage
away
as the new emotions
come to shore
singing
dancing
moving
through this life
as i sit on Einstein
and his voice is muffled
did i say an overboard
statement
whilst
waiting for fruit
and waffles
waiting for lovely human
contact
had someone said
"it's o.k."
well,
i heard that part
so,
i just move like a piece
of energy
and i
just move like a piece of
everybody
that moves in times of volcanism
and new turf
despite the fact that
we hear our ears
found by the day dreamers
of looking glass
persuasion
always
looking for the new thought
through microscopic eyes
hitting
the ground running
and spinning out
360
i personally enjoy
180
-
it makes me react
it makes
the dreams start
to love
and react
finally

IN MEMORIAM

The end of May is coming . . .
When the nation celebrates Memorial Day.
Schools and offices are closed . . .
  It's the summer's first holiday.

Do we remember why we celebrate today . . .
Or what the "Stars and Stripes" mean?
Do we ever remind our children . . .
Of where our flag has been.

From Bunker Hill to Yorktown . . .
  And Tripoli to New Orleans.
From the Halls of Montezuma . . .
It has waved up in the breeze.

From Chateau Thierry to the Argonne . . .
Pearl Harbor, Guadalcanal, Tarawa, and Iwo Jima too.
From the Cassarein Pass to Messina . . .
From Anzio, Omaha Beach, Saint-Lo, and Bastogne she flew.

  From Pusan to Inchon . . .
From Hue, Tan Son Nhut, and places with stranger names.
From the Mideast Gulf to Bagdad . . .
  And then back home, again.

Are these just names in our history books?
  I say, "Not at All!"
They are the reminders of the resting places . . .
For those who answered the call.

For Men carried the flag of our country . . .
Through shot and shell and murderous fire.
Some of them have never returned . . .
To their homes and heart's desire.

Look at the field at Arlington . . .
The Punch Bowl in Hawaii or the land in southern France.
Where white crosses grow in the countryside . . .
For those who did not get another chance.

And what of those who did come home . . .
Do we ever really think of them?
They too, gave a full measure of devotion . . .
They too, had our liberty to defend.

So on this day when we grill our burgers . . .
Or are giving the ballgame a view.
  Take a moment to say a prayer of thanksgiving . . .
For those whose sacrifice made it possible for you.

THANKS TO ALL THE VETERANS WHO HAVE SERVED OUR COUNTRY . . .

          GOD BLESS AMERICA!!

The Meaning of Merry Christmas

Mary, Joseph, and others
Enjoying the birth of Jesus. Many
Rushed to see and
Rendered gifts to the man
You and I call our Savior.

Celebrating
His birth is
Really what Christmas
Is about.
Singing carols and giving
Thanks and praises is what
Makes the holiday
A wonderful and joyous time to
Share with the ones you love.

Trick or Treat

I went to buy Halloween candy;
The choices weren’t really the best.
I figured I might as well buy what I like,
‘Cause I would get stuck with the rest.

Last year I had no trick-or-treaters.
My Kit-Kats and Mounds bars sat waiting;
And each time I saw them I scarfed several down,
The calories accumulating.

I should have just bought treats I hated,
Then tossed them when nobody showed;
But childhood advice gave me warning
That I’d violate some kind of code.

So today when I stocked up on candy,
I chose all my favorites they sell;
And I promise I’ll wait to unwrap them
‘Til I’m sure no one’s ringing my bell!

Why Do We Take Christ Out of Christmas

Why Do We Take Christ Out of Christmas? Christmas is the only holiday we often don’t call by name. We often forget about the true reason that Christ came. It’s the only holiday that we often call “a holiday.” It’s true meaning, is often, taken away! It’s more than the tree and all of the glittering lights… It’s time to think about the Bethlehem star so bright! It’s more than going shopping at the malls… More than, “Jingle Bells,” or “Deck the Halls!” It’s more than seeing how many people we can buy for. Or that clearance sale, you’re willing “to die for!” It’s more than buying the “newest in entertainment.” Or receiving a gift that may “cause an embarrassment.” Beyond all of the presents and all we truly believe in. Let’s all come to Christ Jesus and receive him! Let’s think about his birth, and his death on the cross! Without HIM… The true meaning of Christmas is lost! He brings the hope, joy and cheer that’s needed! Won’t you listen to his voice? That often goes unheeded? Christ is what’s important! And shouldn’t be left out! He’s what matters! And is what Christmas is all about! Let’s be joyful! It was for all of us that he came! And take this time to bring honor and glory to his name! By Jim Pemberton

Was It Better Then

Tell me was it better then or am I now insane
Or does my mind play just play tricks again
We Had so little christmas day
Yet were so happy just to play

In Scarbourough when I was a kid
On christmas eve neath sheets we hid
Not wanting to see Santa Claus
Sleep was just the shortest pause

Before we woke to tree and decs
That were put up by worn out wrecks
For none were there at our bedtime
And yet appeared by breakfast time

Stockings hung upon bed end
Hoping that our jolly friend
Would leave fruit maybe some nuts
Perhaps the comic funny cuts

Then presents, which now adayswould be called cheap
Only the smallest little heap
But to us kids it was a joyful time
To be ungrateful such a crime

Now the kids want more and more
How much can our pockets now endure
Oh for the simple christmas once more
Was it better then, I am not to sure

Christmas Sight

Christmas seems to be lost in a commercial haze,
and hearts freeze over any retail deal.
Human kindness ebbs in greed's burning fire,
while good will toward people seems less real.

Whatever happened to the true Christmas spirit
and why has greed's spell taken hold of human hearts?
The holiday season seems less merry now,
as the gift of brotherly love is run over by millions of shopping carts.

Has the heavenly light of Christmas love
been lost to the darkness of commercial gifts?
Souls seem to latch on to these material things,
ignoring the wounds made from these man made drifts.

Has the holiday season lost the Christmas glow
that once flourished in love's golden night.
The mad rush that Christmas now brings,
tells me that human kind has lost its Christmas sight.

Plan for death

Plan to fail
we all belong

now prove to the world im not your god

The sliders will come slide in and lead death by hand
in the same circles forever and ever
but no one knows who he is
all around him the angels stand out and encourage us to resist the insanity

Look to fashion for all your clues as to who is who
aware of your surroundings
in this perfect crime scene
I know the pieces fit
pointing to the only one
in a fashionable code unseen to the naked eye

Around and around he goes
same circle same souls
forever and ever
and no oone knows
look at this innocence

fashionably late early enough to reconsider
ever see the world through the devils eyes
and everyone wears their original sin around him

Im training your souls
to die if god tells the one and only joke
to knock us all dead
we win again laughing off our heads

time to figure it out

 last lottery to the exit
we are ready to listen to the confusion giving nothing away

the crime scene is set
 ignorance is bliss
surrounded by all of the same color
we plan to fail
the first level of how to belong

plan to fail
see what happens you cant win
we'll be here leading
 circles forever again

A way to thank an angel
a way to punish the souls
the troops to keep miserable
and the insanity around us in our heads shows reason to the fact how near he is

surrounded in telepathy

 innocent thoughts
but get ready to gain control
as obsessively i plan to lead you off the cliff
blindly
won't someone come save you
level two
the trained souls wear their clothing conspiracy of randomness
to point him out with all subtlety
no one would know from afar
more confusing closer
 home

black and white world
several colorfull players
lead us in leading by example
of the secret they cant speak
a curse to break and everyone is trying
what does it say?
what does it all mean?
I'm trying but can't see clearly
Ive already tried
next stage of the first level
and soo many different plans to say the same thing
to the man in the middle of who he is

theyd do it their whole lives

its not spy talk
but admidst do or die
a test for the prophets
and a way to earn the next step towards heaven
or is this the slide?

You are everyone and everything around you

you are just an oblivious puzzle piece to those here to play
I might look guilty blackmailed decoy

now the pieces fit another way
we switch the stage
 fashion changes

A Gravitational Pull

Stone upon the water front/
Next to the cashmere pillow,
The pier near the gallow shore/
A man began to speak,

Within this land there shall be no way out accept I tax,
This gravitational pull may bring some down,
Yet if you stay and listen very carefully/
You will live through this time and be very happy !

Many of you have become lazy in the manner of laws,
A decree will be summoned to let us know/
The waiting may be hard to comprehend,
Yet within time you can grow to depend/

The fat of the land,
Let this man take you by the hand/
There can be no further excuses or escape,
The way will depend upon the hearer's !

April Fools

Today’s the day that mayhem rules
For pranksters known as April fools.
Through jest and folly they’ll provoke
And hope that all can take a joke.

Shenanigans and gags are fun
But they won’t work on everyone.
A jester has to know his crowd
To gauge what mischief is allowed.

Some people laugh off everything
While others suffer teasing’s sting.
On April Fools Day, even money
Says some pranks won’t come off funny.

Certain antics will appeal;
Others, though, will soon reveal
That what hits one man’s funny bone
May cause another to be thrown.

Unless Jesus Is In Christmas...

Why all the hustle and bustle
and dashing through the snow?
Why bother writing greeting cards
or kiss under a mistletoe?

Why chop down a pine tree
and dress it with tinsel and lights?
What is the purpose of gift giving,
or days that are merry and bright?

Unless we keep Jesus in Christmas,
it isn't Christmas at all.
Unless we celebrate The Virgin Birth,
nothing has meaning or worth!

Christmas isn't the Holly and Ivy,
little toy trains or Santa Kissing Mommy.
Christmas isn't packages tied with string,
a red nosed reindeer,
or listening to sleigh bells ring.

Christmas isn't baking pies, turkey, and ham,
or lying awake till midnight,
to see a jolly ol' man.

Unless we keep Jesus in Christmas,
it isn't Christmas at all.
Unless we celebrate The Virgin Birth,
nothing has meaning or worth?

No nothing has meaning worth!

At the Curb

Christmas trees, some quite superb,
All sit neglected, at the curb.
They’d graced somebody’s living room
‘Til needles cried out for a broom.

Then they were stripped and dragged out, bare,
Just like the owners didn’t care.
Their ornaments were boxed away
Until another Christmas day.

But all their glory came and went;
For them, there is no real lament.
Alas, they sit and, with no pardon,
They’ll be mulched for someone’s garden.

How the proud and mighty fall!
Whether they were short or tall,
Every tree, once so ornate,
Will suffer such a lowly fate.

Trinbago massive

Trinbago massive

A lady in America asking me
To tell her something bout Trinidad
She planning a vacation soon
And want to go there real bad

She wants to hear everything
About the culture and the foods
Steel pan and calypso
And the people attitudes

So I thinking where to start from
She might have me talking all day
Because trying to describe Trinidad
There are so many things to say

We have a lot of beautiful beaches
  Miss universe and miss world
And in Olympics 100 meters
Hasley Crawford wins the gold

We are the smallest nations
To reach the finals in a world cup
And we going back again soon
To beat the other teams on top

We had the sugar factory
In usine ste Madeleine
But it not there no more
 Because of Patrick manning

We famous for we bake and shark
Doubles, roti and red solo
And the most beautiful girls in the world
You will find in Trinidad and Tobago

And we have a lot of saga boys
They write the book on women
So when you go down there
Prepare to hear some sweet talk from them

And when it comes to work
Ten o clock you walking out the gate
Because you don’t have to worry
In Trinidad you are never late

And when is carnival day
Is the best costume to be seen?
And by the next morning
The whole place already clean

And if you go to the beach
They have beers and food in their van
And every one calling you for some
That is a true Trinidadian

And you must go on Corinth junction
Naz cuisine is the best in south
After you taste their food
It’s all you will be talking bout

We known for the botanical garden
And bird watching in Caroni
And must see the bat caves
On the island of gasparee

The scarlet ibis and humming bird
The Pitch Lake and cocrico
And in devils wood yard
We have a small volcano

From Port of Spain to San Fernando
It’s a land of beauty
From san francique all up to taco
We have so much of history

Lord Kitchener and David rudder
Crazy and the mighty sparrow
Gypsy, baron and Denyse Plummer
Lord Nelson, Maestro, and the shadow

Ravi b and his sister nisha
Sundar popo, the hit man and rikki jai
Rasika, ramrajie, Kamela & Destiny
Anand yankarran and drupatee ramgoonie

These are some of our heroes
Some are here and some have past
But they all represents Trinidad
With dignity and real class

So she told me to keep on talking
I said lady must work to live
Just go down to Trinidad and Tobago
And enjoy your self because trinbago massive

2008

In 2008, we hope for world peace and wars to cease.
We will take hold of possibilities and cast away the impossibilities.
Embrace a new future to learn and nurture.
Remember new friends we have made along the way
and keep ever-close old friends to heart.

Let us never forget the losses we suffered
as individuals or as nations.
Encouraging those whom serve us
protecting our freedom.

Let our words mimic our actions
Let us speak uplifting and
Inspiring word verses.
Let the thoughts of the poets be
engraved in the inspiration
we set forth let us help
carve new truths for all.

What Christmas Means

Forever Free

In the land
Where brave men die
Stories are told
Where these men lie
Of how they fought
And what they sought
Glory not for themselves
But freedom to die
As they chose
So they did
And gave their all
So those that follow
Might know free will
Brave men in troubled times
Who lived not to count
Rich men’s dimes
Lived lives full
Rather facing death
Than to live as slaves
Men of honor who drank their fill
Feasted on life
Till filled with hope
Riding into battle already won
Free to feel the sun
With the wind in their hair
Free to choose their day to die
Oh to be so free
May we always be
To always remember the legend
Of a man and men
Who so believed in integrity and honor
In the face of challenge and strife
Rode off to face death
To put their lives to the test
For a greater cause
That we might live
Forever free

Take A Moment

So many times we fail to see
Why we’re able to live free
We take for granted it’s the way
It’s supposed to be
Oh but there’s millions of reasons why
Lying in the bloodied ground
We walk the backwoods
And open fields of our hometown
Never thinking about the price
Of our feet walking on the grass and dirt
Paid for in blood of the millions
Who long ago passed this way
Just so on this very day
We can walk where we please
As free as ever man has been
We look around us
But mostly see our own gripes
We act as though
Everything is owed us
The world revolves around our needs
Only one thing matters
Just what we feel
We deserve today
But buried in the ground
We think we own
Are the stories told in blood
Of why we’re able to make our claim
And walk as free men
Through the backwoods and open fields
Of our hometown
So take a moment to kiss the ground
Thank the millions
Who came before us
Just so on this very day
We can walk
Where we please

Never Doubt It

God loves you and please never doubt it
My friend, Jesus came and died too for you
He’s our creator, our Savior and our King
And without Him you wouldn’t be here too

Through Jesus Christ, His only Begotten Son
You have a chance to go to Heaven one day
If only you come to Him and really repent
He’ll just come and enter your heart, you’ll see.

There’s no one like God and His Son Jesus Christ
He sticks to you closer than a brother or any friend
He loves you and wants to provide and protect you
And from any harm He wants to defend till the end.

There’s so much sinfulness in this world and so much pain
Everywhere there’s so much stress and so much unrest too
And if your heart feels empty my friend let me tell you that thru Jesus Christ
You can turn your life around and fill it with so much Joy starting today too.

Because Jesus is God in the flesh and He can make you inside new
And He’ll give you a new outlook in life and everything you do too
Your life will change for the best, try it for yourself and you will see
There’s nothing for you to lose but everything to gain and for your soul eternally.

Have A Very Happy And Safe Merry Christmas and a Most Wonderful Holiday Season!

Details | Didactic | |

making It great in2008 by watching what wise men do (part 25)

we're all natural born watchers just looking around
at the TV, the Internet and newspapers all over town
be it something or somebody we usually just watch and wait
to look up to anything that may reinforce our faith
be it something constructive or counterproductive
to watch what others do and then try to imitate
to look at success and then try to emulate

the Wise Men, the Magi were 3 men you should look upon
for they knew to follow that star which was on the horizon
yet King Herod who was the ruler of that little town
could not spiritually ascertain what was really going down
he had heard that the nation of Israel would have a new born king
and then he became paranoid and anxious over everything
he was under the impression that God would have told him first
of the Saving Son who was about to appear on earth

God did a new thing in a completely new way
but many missed the true meaning of the birth that day
but the Magi those 3 Wise Men were in step with God
they were spiritually aware of what was about to start
it's not about man's logic, rationale nor reason
for God is the omnipotent One for all seasons
don't let anyone try to diminish the awesomeness of God's might
don't let anyone try to dim the brilliance that is His guiding light
making it great in 2008 by watching what wise men do
making it great in 2008 by believing that God is watching over you

to be struck by the mystery that is God's power
to believe that He is with you at any given hour
to follow that star whenever you hear the angels sings
to trust that God will guide you in everything
there's no need to fear the unknown or what's down the road
just watch what wise men do when they give God total control
by following a star which led them to a child born in a manger
and not to reveal what they found for to tell would have brought danger
and after presenting the gifts and thus fulfilling the prophecy
they left Bethlehem by another way and continued their journey

when God gives a revelation and then tells you to get up and leave
let no one stop nor hinder you from doing what you believe
don't ever put reason before revelation as reason will only go so far
for revelation is the exclamation that will reveal to you a star
so making it great in 2008 by watching what wise men do
and by following that star wherever it leads you to

Memories of this Year

The fireplace now all lit,
the warmth brings memories
of this year with you.

Holly now strung all down the rails,
But the moments I adore of
Christmas is time with you.

Others are rushing into
maddening crowds.
Breaking the checkbook and
spoiling the meaning of this holiday.

But for me it is the ray of hope,
that heavenly link in the rope
sent so long ago.

When first as a child I stare upon
you in your infant form beneath,
the tree in a wooden manger.

Low and behold, I did not know
how important that first sight
would become in my life.

But sitting here with you
In spiritual presence,
Is the best Christmas present
I could ever long for this year.

Having you near and communing
over all the joys and memories together.
Thank you for this Holiday Dear Lord Jesus.
My prayer is all people come to know the
True reason for this season.

Christ Jesus in You, With You, By You.

happened holiday

Not driven by madness
sadness
gladness
over aptness
the glass hits the ground…….

It’s the hapless
witless
heartless
thoughtless
that bring the falling down…….

When the tremor
quiver
shiver
undeliver
able, don’t quite make it home…….

Refusing to cry
try
fly
wonder why
and then never answer the phone…….

Service buddy

I look down from heaven, and what do I see?
A body on the battlefield that looks a lot like me!
Body parts are missing:there's blood everywhere...
The scene is so ghastly, that I can only stare.
Now the memory returns...I freely gave my life,
In a fight to preserve Democracy for my children and my wife.
Walking with my service buddies when I spotted the grenade,
And I quickly dove upon it! What a price I paid!
Next I see my military funeral with people gathered all around.
The mournfull sound of TAPS as they lay me in the ground!
Then the crowd is all dispersing from the cemetary fast.
Workmen cover me with dirt, and top it off with grass.
At least all is quiet now; no sound of bursting shell!
That man was right on target when he said"War is hell."
Advances; patrols; and skirmishes make for quite a fuss.
The object- kill the enemybefore he can kill us!
So now it is Memorial Day-and I wait patiently,
To see if anyone comes around to remember me.
I see the flagsand flowers, placed on graves so near.
Yet no one visits me. I'm alone again this year!
Surely my family hasn't forgotten the sacrifice I made-
Or has their desire for freedom slowly begun to fade?
Well, I guess they've got ball games and picnics--and yet
Someone's coming toward me in uniform! A vet!
He stops and ponders thoughtfully, as he reads my stone;
"Although I did not know you, you shouldn't be alone".
With a quivering voice and a tear in his eye,
He continues,"Thanks for being there". (I too want to cry!)
"Its true I fought my own war, and no bullet took my life,
But America's stilll great ,due to your sacrifice.
And I am truly thankful for everything you did,
Even though, when you lost your life, I was just a kid.
But I've met your buddies;those whose lives you saved,
So I brought a flag and flowers to lay upon your grave.
No greater love has any man, than to die for his friend.
And ifyou were a Christian, you entered Life at the end!
Your family may have forsaken you, and forgotten where you lay,
Yet as a brother Christian, I'll greet you in that Day.
Until then,Know you're appreciated because you did your part.
Thank you service buddy-from this grateful heart"
As he rose to leave ,I thought with a smile,
Those words of gratitude make it all worthwhile.
Yes, I was a Christian, and now I'm with my Lord.
See ya later service buddy! Continue steadfast in His Word!

What We Don't Need

No one really needs the gifts
We buy this time of year.
Recipients fake oohs and aahs,
Most likely insincere.

The scarves and watches, soaps and mugs,
Pajamas, books and brandy
Are purchased just for custom’s sake,
Like Halloween and candy.

We agonize ‘bout what to buy,
Then shop and shop and shop;
And when each listed name’s checked off,
We finally can stop.

I wish I could sit out this game –
I’ve had it to the hilt;
But if I didn’t get each gift,
I would be wrapped in guilt.

Season of Love

Season of Love
by Amy Swanson (c) November, 2008

Holidays are here, and with them
    comes the time of celebration…
times of love and laughter,
    times of joy and exultation.

Moms and grandmas busy
    planning out the special dinner,
while dads and grandpas talk about
    who’ll be the playoffs winner.

Kids are full of laughter,
    cousins run and play together,
while aunts and uncles gather
to discuss the news and weather.

Times are hard - but love is here,
and this is the real treasure…
It’s not about what we can buy -
    it’s that we’re all together.

It’s more than gifts or parties,
    and more than buying toys…
it’s not about the money spent.
    It’s all about the joys,

of being loved by those most dear
    to us, and loving them;
of reaching out to those in need,
    to be a helping friend.

It’s not about what food we eat,
    nor the clothes we wear;

the real celebration
       is love’s free gift,
            our hearts forever
                 in it’s warm care.

Catalogs

As the holidays draw near,
Anxiety starts growing;
I empty out my mailbox,
Which is close to overflowing.

It isn’t bills or greeting cards
That’s taking all the room;
It’s catalogs, so fat and full
Of items to consume.

Every store and company
Appears to be contriving
To ram their products down our throats,
And more keep on arriving!

Their shiny pages catch our eye
And, like a siren’s song,
They lure us to the land of debt,
Where we do not belong.

For though we flip the pages
With desire and with greed,
We realize there’s a lot to want
But nothing that we need.

Even gifts don’t have to be
Extravagant and shipped;
I know that I would much prefer
If presents could be skipped.

So let’s take all the catalogs
And chuck them with the trash.
Perhaps our friends and relatives
Will settle for some cash!

New Year's Day Contemplation

Today is the Very First Day
The Very First Day of the Very First Year
The Very First Year of a New
And Very long awaited Decade.

I turn my head toward the Future to say
As if to say to all of the Ended of Days
'The Past Year is now all gone away
The New Year is what now is here to stay.'

And then I take off and begin to fly
Toward what is beyond Yesterday's Clouded Skies
And to look into the Virgin and Childish Eyes
Of a Future that has not as of yet
Been seen or spoken to.

I close my eyes to the Passed and Ended of Days
Of the Year has gone before these Hours
It is ended.
It is done.
It can be changed no more.

No more Days to be started anew
No more Sunrises, no more Skies of Blue
Or Cloudy Greys
Or Nights to be Forgotten
From that Year.

I shall have no worrisome Regrets
For what has been done
That I cannot redo
For what has been said
That I can never undo.
I shall live with no regrets
And I should hope that neither should you.

I shall strive to free myself from that thought
That stone...
That stone that would hang about me as a noose
That dreaded contemplation
Of all that is and what has come before
Of All that has ever been
That I cannot undo
That heartfelt beat of untimely unrest.

We can change it nevermore.

For what's Done is Done
Is Done and Gone
And for tomorrow and today
This very minute
This very hour
This very second
This very day
Are when I can strive to start Anew.

To move ever toward my own Choosings
Toward skies that are ever clearer and more blue
To hold and grasp life's Golden Goose
To sail toward Uncharted Lands
Toward the Exciting and the New
The Past is in the Past
The Future has nothing more to lose.

To inhale Life as a Breathe of Air
To be as Free and Loose as my locks of hair
To live without a care
To be not afraid to dare
To never live in what has been left behind
In the Cobwebs of our last year's Minds.

To take care not ever to Lose
Any of your Stones that have been left unturned
And to not lose track of any of your Bridges
Any of your Bridges that you have left unburned.

And not to ever leave behind
A Minute or Second of Life's Cherished Time
To hold that thought firmly in your Mind
Along with your Thoughts and Ideals
That so quietly lie
Underneath those Precious Stones
That so often End up at the End of our Lives
So sadly left unturned.

Looking Back

Today’s a day for looking back
To see how we have fared.
Did we tackle all our problems?
Get some broken things repaired?

Have horizons been expanded?
Were some buried truths revealed?
Some relationships cemented?
Have some painful wounds been healed?

Did we rise to every challenge?
Or just skulk away to stew?
We can tally up the columns
For an end-of-year review.

But the numbers do not matter,
If we chose to grin or grieve.
We can wipe the blackboard clean,
For tonight is New Year’s Eve.

So we’ll celebrate an ending;
All the bad will disappear
As we set the clock to zero
And begin a brand new year!

Different Strokes for Different Folks / Martha's Vineyard 2009

The fake isolation of the island insinuated the fostering of remnants;
remnants of religious fervor, close knit seafaring families, and rugged farmers;
remnants of power past and present.

A fog shrouded canvass awaits the onslaught of August revelry.
And, where widows walked the peeks of robber barons manses, the elementals now play.

Tomato red fire trucks ring the seaside green. Throngs of , oh so, polite W.A.S.P.S
and multicultural couples dot the lawn in precise groupings.

The squeal of stroller strapped toddlers echo across ocean
and down alleyways lined with painted ladies

Gay blades and saucy sisters saunter unharassed through the crowds of young families.
Prosperously retirees with salt and pepper hair in pink and green golf shirts line the porches
of the gingerbread homes ringing the green.

In the gazebo a brass band plays John Phillip Souza and closes by belting out
the American anthem, after dark, no flag wave, yet random patriots stand.
Their forms silhouette upon the gray fog like their intentions
mocking the holiday aire with their reminder of war….

those raging on in Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan.
and fade with the crowds roar to “Sit down your blocking the view!”

And as the elite, and privileged meet and greet chatting in wonder over the multiple sightings
of airforce one choppers and past President Clinton.

The three times the worlds average wage is spent on FIREWORKS, frivolously,
for the entertainment of the richest citizens of the planet. God Blessed America.

Scary

I passed some brownstones on my walk
All set for Halloween,
And several had the scariest
Displays I’ve ever seen:

Evil-looking monsters,
Webs with spiders, huge and black;
Zombies looking like they’d love
To leap out and attack.

A ghostly bride with tattered gown,
A clown with moving eyes;
And ghouls and vampires waiting
For some souls to terrorize.

This wasn’t friendly child décor
But really scary stuff.
I think a smiling ghost and pumpkin
Might have been enough.

The obvious intention, though,
Was doubtlessly, to shock.
At night, I know that I would hate
To walk down such a block.

I miss the Halloween of old
And wish we could go back
To a time we’d have a little scare
And not a heart attack!

Waiting for the Wind

Sitting in the morning just waking up on my side of the world today
I turn on the news see if anyone has anything good to say
Stock markets falling and another landslide while the politicians try to deny
Global warming and more killer storms and another thousand people die
and the advertiser says I’d be happy if I bought bigger car you know
I’ve got my sails out...and I’m waiting for the winds to blow
I got my sails out...and I’m waiting for the winds to blow.

Sometimes I think the world’s gone mad and I can’t stand to hear the pain
One place burning in holy fire and another in a deluge of rain
Sometimes I think that hatred and war is the only way we know how to be
And I want to sail away,..in a world made for you and me
Sometimes I wonder at the pace of it all, where’s everybody trying to go
I got my sails out...and I’m waiting for the winds to blow.
I got my sails out...and I’m waiting for the winds to blow.

Why can’t we see the beauty of it all in the sun rising every day
Life holding on to the sides of mountains and the waters rushing into the bay
Why can’t we live as if nothing on earth mattered more that the love that we bring
I want to sail away,.. and become part of everything
Why can’t we care just a little bit more, maybe let a little kindness show
I got my sails out...and I’m waiting for the winds to blow.
I got my sails out...and I’m waiting for the winds to blow.

In His Glory And Grace

A long time ago a King left His kingdom and His throne
To pay what could be paid only by Him, and just Him alone,
A Mighty Lord who was willing to die for yours and my sins,
And make us all brand-new again when we invite Him in

Knowing full well the rewards of His salvation plan
Help us remember that we are all held in God's own hand,
One day when we arrive to Heaven, what's it first we'll see?
But Jesus, with arms opened wide as happy to greet you, and me!

I am but a sinner, who's now living by His blessed grace,
Washed clean by the Blood of my Lord Jesus, who died in my place,
By surrendering everything I have to God, each and every day,
I can be certain for sure, I'll not be that easily led astray!

All Hallows Eve

Ghouls, ghosts and goblins
Wicked Wiccans wielding
Spirits soaring sacredly
Trick or treating?

Pumpkin patches present
Barren by butcher’s beast
Costumed careless children
Foul frightening feast

Darkened distressed demons
Patiently persecuting prey
Evil engulfs the entities
Devouring delicious day

Halloween howls heard
From foreign fetched fans
Yearning, yielding, yenning
For a fearful frightening band

Christmas Is Jesus Holiday

No matter what you say,
His love is not far away,
Even Santa knows is Jesus Day
That's why Christmas, is here to stay!

Though remember it's Christmas
And not like another Holiday,
I don't care what others say
The Saviour, we celebrate this Day!

I will always celebrate His B-Day
He comes first than dear Santa Claus,
Even Santa knows that and applauds
He adores Jesus and for Him he pauses!

Santa told me his heart is in fire
For is Jesus he so admires
And so much he desires,
That's in Jesus we all should be inspired!

Waking Up To Reality

I awoke,
Disoriented,
Lost in time,
Through the magic
power of dreams,
It's near Christmas,
There's no pine scented tree,
No presents to wrap,
No one to bake cookies for,
Alone,
Except for the eternal pain,
Of these old bones,
Once strong
Where the happiest day of the year,
Has slipped into the past,
And the saddest day of the year,
To suffer alone, but with my memories...
All the more painful,
By the contrast,
Of the happiness of the past...
The past....has past...
It's left me here...
All alone...
To see how long I'll last.
