                                     a pompous show, full

                                  of witchcraft and wizardy

                                        assuredly to rule

Baseball Game

Swing of the bat, contests
Fielders’ gloves, ball in motion,
Run, slide, throw - called safe!

Innings are by turns,
Dramatic or biding, boxscores
Revealing who’s up.

Catching foul ball strays,
Or in bleachers just catch rays,
Fans cheer, hoot and wave!

Hear “Smack!” a hit!
Vendors warble, “Peanuts and beer!”
Star spangled banner.

If you come early,
Ask for heros’ autographs,
Snap players’ faces.

Distance ‘tween bases,
Had to be divinely ordained,
Perfecting the game!

Whether the home team ,
Overcomes temporary calamity,
Makes or breaks dreams!

Black Friday

Love your neighbor as you love yourself
What happened to our mind set?
She’s an infant not a cure for aids
She’s pure why forcefully snitch her virginity
Respect our women you selfish men

South Africa you’ve made a name for yourself “rape capital”
Let us unite against rape and restore our good name
My beloved South Africans unite!
Unite against women and child abuse
One person raped is one too many

Anene Boysens, your death united the nations
United, they condemned discrimination against women
They said” every girl has a right to be respected and protected against women abuse”
How long should we take this barbaric conduct?
We owe it to all the victims to fight this disease

Woe to your power assertive rapists
Woe to you anger retaliation rapists
Woe to you sadistic rapists
Woe to you juvenile sex offenders
Woe to you women offenders

14 February after sun set a word went forth
Rapists have no place in South Africa
February 15, 2013 declared a black Friday
We shall remain black until we defeat rape
Victory is within our reach, fight against rape.

Victoria Anderson-Throop
Nairobi, Kenya
November 26, 2012

Note: Political unrest near Nairobi, Kenya due to election strategies. Polish nun told me that she was warned by a local moonshine runner to hide. Too late. She was pistol whipped by local police who wanted more protection money. Didn’t get the money (it was a free clinic, so nurses had no money) Police beat the nurse/nuns and absconded with the very rare and precious AIDS meds to sell to the hospitals.Free AIDS clinic was forced to close.(Kenyan government does not have free health care for the poor) Nuns are recovering then being transferred to other clinics. Three went back to Europe forced into early medical retirement due to permanent injuries sustained by police and/looters. The care program(education and/or placement) for the children whose parents were AIDS patients is gone. Children have taken to the streets in desperation. Count your blessings.

Martian Conniosseur

MAVEN tastes the air
too thin to hold oceans' broth
wafted on Sol's winds.

Note: this is my entry for NASA's "Going To Mars" campaign. I believe it deserves to win, because in 17 syllables it not only summarizes MAVEN's (Mars Atmospheric Volatile EvolutioN) mission, but also alludes to the meaning of its name as an expert or connoisseur (as though it were a master chef, lifting the lid on the desert planet to sample its boiled away oceans). If you agree with me, please visit the link below (just copy and paste it into your browser) to vote your support, before July 29. You may make this offering one of three haiku to be carried to Mars -- THE FIRST POETRY TO ANOTHER WORLD.
Thanks to you all.

Haiku for Japan

I try not to say
Sorry to Japan the morn
Sunshine of Asia

I won’t be tempted
To further cloud this sore heart
With my sea water

It is not distance
That holds back the salty fluid
From my eyes but love

My own apartment
Is flooded with Japanese
Electronic stuffs

My countrymen are
Just like the moving sun and
Cannot not be there

My American
Friend’s a teacher in China
Shining so, so close

Japan has become
My backyard in this new world
Small global village

And the eyes also
Suffer the heat of pepper
Eaten by the mouth

So your pain, Japan
Has clouded my sanity
Yet I say weep not!

For by blood have kings
Wore their crowns; and with blood have
Empires been painted

And in blood do women
Deliver forth newborn babes
Blood brings good tidings

By blood had Asia
Risen above its storms. Ask
India, ask China

So weep not Japan
For blood does bring good tidings
In all climes and times

Let the rain wash off
The pain from your memory
The rite is over

Let the sun renew
Your seas and shores to prepare
You for the new dawn.

(TRIPLE HAIKU in fact...)

Awww...cats are so cute!
Rubbing against my 2 legs

I head to my room
They watch me like a shepherd
My sheep follow me!

Follows me into bathroom
Hope she turns her head
