Groundswell Girl - Named by JB

Enter a storybook tale
Where I can be
The heroine you hail
Lucid dreams of soft reflection
A touch heated with lust and desired protection
A breathe a gasp as we succeed
Join the fairytale with me
Valiant night within dark eyes
the right movement and I make them shine
like moonlight on the steamy hot spring
care to follow for a little dip with me
Trailing like the water at my fingertips
Grasp me around my hips
As close as the breeze on my skin
Whisper lies as I let you in
Lips mumbling up my thighs
bare heart exposed to the sky
fire burning in my veins
Am I a mistress of this lust or simply a slave
Trembling with desire
Take me till we've lost count of the hours
enter this storybook tale
Where I can be the heroine you hail

Canceled

I closed my eyes and tried to forget the way you smiled and those dark
mysterious eyes.

You touched my soul and I just wanted you to know that. You blew my
mind for so many years and now I feel so alone.

I cancelled you so long ago, I swore that this was finished. But the only thing that was
ever finished was a lie and I swore to my heart that it didn't.

Didn't beat every time I saw you, Didn't tip every time you smiled. Didn't trip over
myself every time I pretend that I wasn't.

It was all a lie and I couldn't control the fact that I wanted you, every part of you
and more.

I would sneak little glances at you out of the corner of my eyes, Remember
that i'm not confident at times I can be kind of shy.

I wanted this to be secret but it was just waiting to burst out, and as the years went
by I find myself dying to see you once again. Is that you I see on the train? I shiver
just at the thought.

How many times am I gonna flip when it wasn't even you just a look alike.

This has to tell me something this has to be a sign, If I ever saw you again I would
jump off a cliff so high.

But then again I remember you were supposed to be cancelled that's
what I told all my friends.

You were no longer viewing in my mind, A past show, just
some long road that i'd done traveled.

It wasn't until some time later that a friend
whispered in my ear, she told me that you were doing ok and then the feelings
started to surface again.

God I yelled at myself can you be anymore pathetic... I wasn't going out like that this
is the last time I write about this person.

I smile knowing that this poem is just the third of many... cancelled? It would never be
fully over in my mind, I mean a girl has to have her fantasies.

My Gun

I feel for the miserable day,
They try to take MY gun away…

Unknown

Who am I?
Am I defined by what is near in sight?
Am I defined by what I have done,
Or am I defined by what I could become?

Perhaps I'm of no use.
To him, or her, or I, nor you.
Or perhaps I'm too misunderstood to be defined,
And it is something like understanding that comes in time.

And if to the world I'm never shown,
Yet in my own light I've grown and grown,
And so I can know no happiness but my own--
The reason for my smile, to you, will forever be unknown.

I do not pray for the world to know my name.
For it and verse; the letters are the same.
And if a man should find his sorrow in what he reads,
I pray his pain my words to keep.

Should his eyes rain on my page,
Better tears than storms of rage.
And if a man should find his sorrow in what he reads.
I pray his pain my words to keep.

And if to the world you're never shown,
Yet in your own light you've grown and grown,
And so you know no happiness but your own.
Let the reason for your smile, to you, only be known.

I'm Your Only Sacrifice

I'm Your Only Sacrifice

You have me live up to your expectation and provide even more, could this be your own private game?
You call me mean, but I can't be nice when there's nothing nice in front of me.
You call me cold, but I can't be warm when the world iced over.
You call me sad,but I can't be happy when all there's is sadness in your own eye's.
You call me jaded, but I ca't reconnect to emotion that died in me upon your very wish.
You tell me over and over to smile, but what the point if I long forgot to smile.
You tell me over and over to be happy, but isn't the point to be thankful to be alive and live the life given to you.
You tell me over and over release those emotion and let other in,but I've seen the broken spirit of letting other near without a thought of the trouble.
You tell me over and over to be less distance and away from the warmth, but all that matter's is that what taken care of is done.
You tell me over and over to not grieve, but who are you to say such words when your the one grieving the most.
Though these be my own childish whim's,I refuse to let my wounds have salt poured into them and you look over me while they burn and slowly disappear.
I want to let go but for all that it worth these weren't your dreams for me,to build that break wall not only to other's but toward you as well.
I will hold your hand even while you cry,I'll hold on until i can't.For you see I am your backbone your my light the reason for my jaded heart.
This is my own sacrifice,I chose this one for myself and not one given to me.
In ever little thing this is m only true fear.I will lose myself in the end.So call me what you want for it nothing more superficial scandal,That I have no need to control no more even if I be your only Sacrifice

Work

Work.
Toil.
The pain I put in the ground.
For such a precious thing.
Corn.
The family enjoys their meal.
They plant their leftover kernels.
And wait for me to tend to them.
Work.
An endless cycle in which happiness is born.

Tombstone - Like The Four Horsemen

they walked along
weathered, carrying their guns;
like the four horsemen…

down to the O.K.
guns blazing, bullets flying;
smoke clears, the strong stand…

COWBOYS

Beneath dotted stars with soft campfire as ally, lone cowboy’s pondering meanders through the sand dunes and night-saloons thumb marked by his blazed rides for pistol quests and fist thugs, as rowdy duels and women’s sighs so adored climb unto a red of greeting sunset. Recalling those dusty trails--pungent and bold-- he descends like a magic bat from nowhere riddling his foes way down the desert floor. Many at times, the sawdust boots reeked from the heat of bandits’ glare as if to pierce his chest one hell of a shot with tassels flowing high unto smoky air. Edifying as he seems, beneath dotted stars, a lone cowboy is simply this: a tender wind mild as his strumming guitar calling for prairies’ honeyed life while a tough leather vest hides his simple, warm nobleness. Shiny Minded Stone

"What's your story?"
she questions,
"you seem interesting."

often people become confused
by such a unique response

she's a beauty

lives warm under veins
lacks definition of alone

tho solo she stands
tallest green blade
unscathed
each time the oily blade passes above

erect
she stays the same
tingling pulses exhale her pores
she'd rather sink
than have to think the way of worldly whores

still...
malice skips her
no ripples in the lake
dripping from her face
sunshine slips across tangerine cheeks

gold flows throughout waves
streaming locks
sky clear eyes surprise those
choosing to be consumed
by her entice

hands free of envy
no webs to spin
hips unmolested
thighs slick
turpentine

be warned
she will divide you
no voodoo
or silly twisted games
though safe may escape you

blemish-less
untangled...
the girl
she
Goddess
baby of zero maybes
KNOWS....
how?
she knows

as clarity lent us its giant umbrella
her lipstick smacked my tongue
from there
we never looked back

White Line Fever

White picket fence in the rear view
Coordinates in the GPS
He honks as he leaves the driveway
For a three day trip to the west

They call it the white line fever
And it's addictive as crack cocaine
The need to be out there trucking
Injected right into your veins.

The kids are sleeping on the porch
The dog is tugging at its chain
She smiles and tells him be careful
It looks like we're in for some rain.

They call it the white line fever
And it's addictive as crack cocaine
The need to be out there trucking
Injected right into your veins.

He doesn't care what he's hauling
As long as he's out on the road
Crisscrossing county and state lines
To pick up yet another load.

They call it the white line fever
And it's addictive as crack cocaine
The need to be out there trucking
Injected right into your veins.

He's got her picture in the truck
That he talks to late at night
Driving alone in the darkness
With not another car in sight.

They call it the white line fever
And it's addictive as crack cocaine
The need to be out there trucking
Injected right into your veins.

Truck driving runs in the family
His granddaddy owned his own rig
His daddy was always saying
You can drive son when you get big.

They call it the white line fever
And it's addictive as crack cocaine
The need to be out there trucking
Injected right into your veins.

People ask him how he managed
To keep driving for all those years
He tells them about a picture
And the sweet sound of shifting gears.

They call it the white line fever
And it's addictive as crack cocaine
The need to be out there trucking
Injected right into your veins.

Pricked

Your love pricks me like a rose each thorn grows but no one knows Your so full of
it as it shows so carry on now go on, go. I'm fed up with the phony and i'm
through with the tears, you couldn't pay me all your money to make up for those
years. Someone help me I feel faint how could I think he was such a saint and
worst of all I let me fall into a spiral down below. A magic called love carried
by the dove of someone I use to know.

          Tears - Are As Old
         … As East Of Eden

           Pain - Is As Old
         … As East Of Eden

          Woes - Are As Old

And Disappears, Into The Flaming Sunsets … ( Gen. 3: 23, 24 )

Cowboy Legacy

There’s a legacy inside him,
As he sits upon his steed;
His heart is filled with honesty,
Not perjury or greed;

He rides the same old range,
That his father rode before;
And it’s been that way for forever,
A hundred years or more;

Pushin’ cattle, brandin’ calves,
That is a cowboy’s life;
Someday he may settle down,
And make some girl his wife;

He’s spent so many lonely nights,
Sleeping under the stars,
He hasn’t got a tattoo,
What he has are battle scars;

There’s a rip across his stomach,
From a rangy longhorn steer;
And even though it hurt like hell,
He never shed a tear;

He always outs on a brave face,
Emotions locked inside;
And for his cowboy heritage,
He feels only pride.

A Cowboy is---

“The flower of youth,” that’s what Ma said,
the day we packed the wagon.
She tussled my hair and planted a kiss
on my cheek and tin cans to the tail gate draggin’

My bride, my Peg, she hopped on aboard
while her Ma, Nellie, stood by bawlin'.
Dad stood by the farm house door
and Ole Red stood aside him howlin'.

We left from Pennsylvania aimed for Oregon
I’m not sure we woulda gone if we’d new,
all the loss a comin’ afore the shores of Avalon,
land of milk and honey, where apple trees are strewn.

Peg-a-my-heart, fair she was, and our baby she was carrying,
we’d lose that chil’, I’d lose my Peg, before we hit Missouri .
I sold the wagon, and bought them a stone, markin' the place I’d laid them
and off I went on a cattle drive a broken man in a hurry.

A cowboys life was all I had, a horse and my whiskey
and every night afore I’d sleep I’d sing “Oh, Peg-o-my heart…I miss ye”

*this was what it was like to be a cowboy

Mousey

I love my Mousey,
She lives in a field in BrushCreek, Tennessee,
Walking with her her of cattle,
As happy as she will ever be.

Without this there would be only she,
And i could make her as happy as me,

I miss her immensly, for thee i wish well,
For everyday i wish she wont sell,
And I could show her in the Dekalb County Fair,
I would sell never an ounce of her.
Hehe not even one of her little white hairs.

Even when all the way over there,
Mine she is for no one but me to share, if I do so happen to dare.

Cute as a button,
A button her nose may well be,
Where I first touched her sweet little body,
Not once but twice sweetly,
For wherever she goes I could spot her, along with her sister and mother.

Many a mile away, for she is not at all,
Not at all what you would say a little grayish thing.

But a heifer who grows daily,
Only to shove the motherly tears away.
In my eyes though, she will always be, forever and always, my baby girl, my sweetie,
my beautiful girl, my Mousey

Ride The Snake

Thy brother, strong, straight and true,
to the core, his blood flows, fast and through.
I love him dearly, ever since his birth,
what an incredible gift from mother Earth.
Mad as a cut snake, I'd hate to cross.
You did? You C@#T! Ha Ha, your loss.
Boxer and Biker, to the very core,
F@#$%n crazy Outlaw.
His heart is enormous, as big as Ayres Rock,
the man is solid, no muppet could knock.
F@#k yeah!
I love him to death,
till my last rattle of breath.
Not long now to go,
I will see him in time,
my brother, my brother,
dear friend of mine.

LISTEN SHHHHHH

IF YOUR VERY VERY QUIET
AND VERY VERY STILL
YOU CAN HEAR HIM TALKING
AND KNOW THAT HE IS REAL

WHISPERING THROUGH THE TREES
AND THE SONGS OF THE BIRDS
CHIRPING OF THE CRICKETS
MOVEMENT OF THE HERD

THE RUSTLING OF GRASS
SOFTLY PUSHED ASIDE
BY FEET STEPPING QUIETLY
PAUSING WHILE IN STRIDE

A MARE SOFTLY COAXING
A PRECIOUS NEWBORN FOAL
THE CREATION OF LIFE
WARMS YOU TO YOUR SOUL

IF YOU LISTEN YOU CAN HEAR
YOUR HEART SLOWLY BEATING
COUNTING OUT THE SECONDS
OF YOUR SHORT LIFE FLEETING

JUST CLOSE YOUR EYES AND LISTEN
TO ALL THE THINGS YOU MISS
WORRYING ABOUT DAY TO DAY
TOO LONG IS YOUR LIST

LISTEN TO WHAT IS IMPORTANT
LIFE GOES ON ALL AROUND
THINK NOW WHAT YOU’RE HEARING
AND THE TREASURES YOU FOUND

SO IF YOU’RE VERY VERY QUIET
AND VERY VERY STILL
YOU’LL KNOW WHO IS TALKING
AND KNOW THAT GOD IS REAL

WHEN THE DOGWOOD IS IN BLOOM

WHEN THE DOGWOOD IS IN BLOOM AND THE RANGE HAS TURNED TO GREEN
I WILL RIDE YOUR WAY AGAIN LIKE THE HAPPY VISION IN YOUR DREAM.
WITH THE SUN SHINING ON MY BACK ON THE TRAIL LEADING TO YOUR DOOR
I WILL COME BACK TO YOU ALWAYS IN YOUR HAPPY MEMORIES AS BEFORE.

YOU REMEMBER HOW I WORE MY HAT? SLIGHTLY TILTED TO THE SIDE?
AND HOW I ALWAYS SAT TALL IN THE SADDLE WHENEVER I WOULD RIDE?
I COULD SEE YOU WAITING THERE AND I WOULD SIT TALLER THAN A KING
MY PRIDE WOULD SWELL AND I HAD TO SMILE KNOWING YOU WORE MY RING.

WE SWAM IN THAT LITTLE BLUE HOLE BENEATH THE COTTONWOOD TREES
THEN LAY ON A BLANKET STARING AT THE STARS IN LOVE YOU AND ME.
THE HOURS WOULD PASS LIKE MINUTES AS YOU LAY THERE IN MY ARMS
I THANK GOD EACH AND EVERY DAY YOU GRACED ME WITH YOUR CHARMS.

WE TOOK LONG WALKS HAND IN HAND THROUGH THE FIELDS OF WILD FLOWERS
CHASING COTTONTAIL RABBITS AND RED SQUIRRELS TO THEIR HIGH TOWERS.
WE PUT UP THE CORN IN THE SUMMER AND GATHERED PECANS IN THE FALL
LIFE WITH YOU MY DARLING WAS WONDERFUL AS I ALWAYS WILL RECALL

DON’T WEEP FOR ME BUT REMEMBER THE GOOD TIMES THAT WE HAD TOGETHER
AND RECALL WHEN WE WALKED HAND IN HAND IT WAS ALWAYS FINE WEATHER
SO PUT ON MY COAT AND SIT ON THE PORCH AND CLOSE YOUR PRETTY EYES
I’LL COME RIDING TO YOU WHENEVER YOU WISH JUST WATCH OVER THE RISE.

The drummer who...

The drummer who
only plays on Wednesdays;
plays with purpose…
rhythmically dispersing
the pulmonary clutter
of the pig eared philanthropist;
the twaddle raddled paddle…
or the crescent topped cacophony…
neither either nor song…

the drummer who only plays
on Thursdays;
plays with porpoise…
the singular plural plectrum…
the aquatic harpooned bride…
annul… abrupt… annul…
annul… abrupt…

a week away from the day…
an hour’s hindsight…
the overly possessive impressionistic ploy…
time… as in reason…
the arrogance of self…
the drummer who only
plays on Wednesdays;
plays with purpose…

BABILONIA

I was born in Babylon
Everyday I want to be alone
I prayed not to get low
Everyday Babylon claim more soul
I just have to go, seek for more show
I grow with no shoes under my foots
Ganger is my food,
Mosquitoes sing the reggae allover my room
Webs block my views, killing my crews
What can I do to survive when am buzz

Where is that place to get crazy?
That place you cannot erase,
That camp with more space,
Where you don’t have to get late
That place where you just want to be free from
“Babylon” Babylon” Babylon…I want to be free

If there is a question, it should be about relation
My action will generate your reaction
Is substitution the way to be free from Babylon?
The game is always ON, grow horns like Capricorn
Cut the vegetables; let’s be able to be stable

Transparent

Transparent

Shallow pools cloven tide within heightened scale to oblige

Some may choose to run away & hide?
Within its sought manifestation a lethal side will play
Transparent
Although amidst its horrific grasp in time

Nearer toward the notion of extravagance,
Through tests with divers thoughts in escalating
Transparent
In deeper shallow pools the timeless conquest of rest

As if a caged rat that was hidden in a tiny hole would vent

The inner change from haste we will wait to end its test

To become transparent amidst ivy briars would grasp;

With thorns pierced to skull to dull its inflated rhyme...

See, I think different then most
A sorted lost seagull flying outside on the coast

The Tide

We pulled it off
Dusted cleats, victory flag
Brandished on history's ceiling

Raising the tide of moral triumph
Gathered from warming hours of dawn
Hope for health and success

New homes and affluent spirit
Finding our way
Among thorns and battalions

Lions prevail with timeless ascent
New comers to corridors and luminous halls
Ready to grab rightful piece of the action

First Morning Cup

In that grey, quiet space between night & dawn
While the coyote sings a good morning song

A cowboy rides up to a spot high on the hill
to reflect on his blessings & the bounty of good will

For a hot cup of coffee & warm meals to eat
For the shade of a broad brim hat & the sturdy boots on his feet

For the comfort in the silence just before the rooster crows
Just why he was chosen to be this lucky, only the Creator knows

For this good horse between his knees, sure & steady at a lope
for those fat & sassy cattle & true aim when he ropes

For all his compadres just now stirring for the day
Each one of them in your likeness, so the preachers say

For living each & every day as Cowboy as he can
For unexpected kindness & the basic goodness of a man

The keening of the hawk draws his gaze up toward the sky
And he says another prayer for those who ride in the By & By

Yes, there are surely enough reasons to grump, cuss or shout
But taking stock of all your blessings is what that first morning cup is all about

So thank you once again sir, for giving us this life
May you ride along beside us, in good times & in strife

Amen

Travis

Today I buried ol' Travis,
a better dog you never seen,
intelligent, strong, an' good natured
with eyes that were wary and keen.

It hurt me to lay him to rest now,
an' I know I'm gonna shed tears,
but I can't fault God for the takin'
'cause I shared with that dog sixteen years.

I remember when I first saw Travis,
just a little fur ball at the time,
we both felt an instant connection,
an' I knew that cowdog would be mine.

I couldn't resist his free spirit,
golden eyes that were so fulla care,
nor could I forsee his devotion,
or all the good times we would share.

From the very first trip to our homestead,
my pickup he claimed as his own,
whenever that truck left our acres,
he was goin' wherever it roamed.

As a watch dog there never was better,
no coyote would dare cross this land,
he'd be out there barkin' an' chasin',
an' run off the whole yippin' band.

An' when Mr. Cougar come callin',
ol' Travis would raise such a fuss,
he knew not to nab the mean bugger,
but would bark till it woke both of us.

Ranch hands have got an' ol' sayin'
'bout workin' as hard as a dog,
an' I can sure vouch for ol' Travis,
he could herd cattle even in fog.

His muzzle was startin' to turn gray,
an' he had quite a limp t'ward the end,
but whenever I'd head out to do chores,
I could count on some help from my friend.

Now, I ain't alone in my grievin',
the wife took Trav's death pretty hard,
he was also her life long companion,
an' would follow her out in the yard.

I know that we're both gonna miss him,
this place'll seem empty an bare,
I'll miss fillin' his bowl in the kitchen,
an' him sleepin' right next to my chair.

My throat's just plum' fulla the achin',
an' I'll bust out in tears anytime,
but I ain't ashamed a my feelin's,
'cause most dogs, well, they ain't worth a dime.

But Travis was just somethin' special,
best cowdog I ever did see,
an' wherever God sends dogs when passin',
that's the place where I wanna be.

We Are Nothing WITHOUT Christ

Without Christ... We Are Nothing! You think you have everything... "Don't need" anything more. God says; "You are wretched, blind, miserable and poor." Are you content? There's nothing "you don't need?" Is your life filled with self-righteousness and greed? Jesus stands at your heart's door... Waiting to come in. But is the "uninvited guest," once again. Do you have a form of Godliness, but deny the power thereof? Proclaiming to be a Christ' follower, but void of his love? Are you committed to a fancy building and bright chandeliers? For the lost souls... Do you shed any tears? It's time to fall in love with Jesus and his precious word too. He's here right now... Waiting for you! Only you can make the right choice. It's your decision. You're spiritual life will die... If serving Jesus is not your mission... By Jim Pemberton

THE MONEY FOR HER DIAMOND

     In the heat of July,
While bringing in the hay,
He gave her a baling wire ring,
And this is what he had to say...

     “Someday I’ll put a diamond,
Here on your hand.
A diamond pure and perfect,
As sure as I’m your man.

     But, you know, a diamond,
It won’t ever shine,
As long or as bright,
As this love of yours and mine.”

So they saved for her diamond,
By putting little bits away,
Money for the diamond,
He would buy for her one day.

But the money for her diamond,
Fixed the tractor and bought a plow,
And in the dead of winter,
Paid the vet. bill for the cow.

     The money for her diamond,
Put the water to the barn,
And paid the increased taxes,
The county levied on the farm.

     The money for her diamond,
Paid the doctor in town,
And when their daughters were all grown,
It bought the wedding gowns.

It paid for the new roof,
When the big wind came through.
Then it it paid off the mortgage,
Before it was due.

     The money for her diamond,
Was always well spent,
She never even asked him,
Just where the money went.

     The money for her diamond,
Helped them to survive,
The money for her diamond,
Kept their hopes and dreams alive.

    Today it’s been sixty-three years,
And the diamond is on her hand.
But, as usual, in her pocket,
Lies her original wedding band.

     A twist of baling wire,
Bent and covered up in rust,
A symbol of the greatest of loves,
His Promise and Her Trust.

Ten Years Later

Once I wore cowboy boots on an oil rig And before that I was a Deputy, also known as a ‘Pig’ Prior to that time I was a normal guy, living life on the wild side But before I did that, I signed a line; a line to instead of your life, give mine. I was proud to put on a uniform that in turn was an automatic target But attacks on New York, D.C. and Pennsylvania, were the events that would start it Never again would my life be the same, no more thinking freedom was a game Alas, yet again in 2011, we shall continue to send those terrorists, to their ‘terrorist heaven’

A Notion Of A Whisper

A flower will start off as a simple bud/
It then will grow forth !
As when birds in Summer tend to move North/
Yet as the flower may bloom/
There is often found room in which to grow,

Have a positive mindset in life,

Longevity !
There will be many storms !
Yet we all must not allow them,
To dictate what may happen in the future/
Today be a positive light to a darkened place/

Live by example !

Cause many people are watching !
They will be looking for some hidden quality,
Hence, a bit of understanding/
Perhaps it's determination or a great sense of integrity !
Yet without cement to hold a brick it will eventually fall/

This isn't some store bought item that one gets at their nearby mall,

Let all your words be few yet sweet and sincere/
For far too many people in life,
That don't even bother to care/
Just then a little bird had whispered in my ear/

Yet none the worse for wear,

The heart is deceitful above all things !

Still who can know it ?
A true friend is rather polite and sincere/
To the one who will often show it,
Set the standard high for yourself !

For whether you fall,

You will know in your heart/
That you gave it better then some college Joe try,
Try to keep your mind on just one thing/
For this is the essential key to your success !
