Jingle Bells

Christmas shopping I will go
Red kettles at department stores
Sidewalks covered in snow
Bell-ringers spreading Christmas joy

Volunteers bring Christmas cheers
Give a dollar or two or more
For the needy the bells ring clear
Red kettles need to be filled

Goodwill is in the air
Giving donations is what it's about
For those in despair
It's the Christmas sharing and giving part

A Christmas Miracle

Christmas Eve and he worked late again.
As he trod through drifts of pristine snow,
he saw a bottle passed among homeless men.
Two months mortgage he did owe;
Fear of living on the street filled him with woe.

Shops had closed early;
except for Christmas lights his path was dark.
He had no gifts for his wife Shirley
and his children would wake to a tree so stark.
He shivered in the roaring winds of winter’s bark.

It was then he looked up and saw the light –
a huge star shaped like a cross.
The lower beam shone so bright
that he followed it until a church he came across
and the manger in front of it gave him pause.

Nestled up next to Jesus in the crib bed
was a golden retriever lying peacefully.
Tied round the dog was a velvet sack scarlet red
and he neared the manger ever so cautiously
hoping he’d found the perfect gift for his family.

He picked up the dog, but the untied sack grew,
filled with gifts with name tags for all his clan.
There was money in a card with his name on it too.
A fearful soul might have turned and ran,
but the card read, “Merry Christmas from the Savior of man.”

A Spark of Hope

A little girl lost her home this year, for her, Christmas wouldn't be there.
Her family was angry from all the troubles, they simply couldn't repair.
Don’t bother us about presents her parents said, they were depressed by their fate.
With bitterness they said, you’d be lucky to have dinner tonight, or even a plate.
Life was harsh, nowhere to go, anger and fear had put their souls, in a terrible place.
The little girl had found no hope or joy, lurking near their old car, of late.
The car was their home, gas money was scarce, and with few places they could park.
Yes, their troubles had slowly extinguished, that precious hopeful spark.
Without that spark, they’d never find their way, from this terrible place of cold and dark.
And life’s darkness grew deeper nightly, as hope vanished under a reality so stark.
Even the very fiber of her family, seemed to be shattering slowly, slowly, apart.
The child felt alone here in this dark car, as sadness tried to engulf her little girls heart.
The future seemed filled with hopelessness, as shame and dread, were leaving their mark.
Embarrassment to be seen and turned away, made it hard for them to reach out, to restart.
But life goes on, and we can’t fear to rebuild, or the future will be hard to impart.
The girl suddenly declared there’s more to life, and she wouldn't let it conquer her heart.
She decided triumphs will come, and all will get better, if she held to that hopeful spark.
Seeing the desolation and anger here, she couldn't stay around, she had to get away…
So she climbed out of the car, and she walked into town, not so very far to stray.
She went and looked at the store windows, where Christmas was being displayed.
The music and people filled her heart, lifting her spirits, deep inside, that day.
She noticed a store, way down at the end of the row, on the next block, where it lay.
No one was there, it seemed lonely, and the darkness was again, spreading it’s decay.
She ran there in time to see an old man closing up, with sadness on his face betrayed.
What use were his goods, if no one would shop, or come down along his way?
The super store down the block, was daily making him lose more and more in the fray.
He could no longer afford to hire people, and the season had very little time, to stay.
As they talked the girl saw that she couldn't let the darkness take another, so she prayed.
Then she told the old man, if he’d open the shop, she’d bring customers down his way.
She added, she’d find reasonable workers, if her family could live upstairs, she portrayed.
First bring the customers, he said, and the rest will be yours little friend, he conveyed.
She had him put his best toys, as a contest prize, and to add lots of lights on the display.
He set a contest, “Winners-the best collectors for families in need” on Christmas Eve.
He put out a bright contest sign, but still nobody came to his end of the block, to survey.
So she had him call the Salvation Army, for a kettle, Bell ringer, and Carolers, who came
Lickety split, their way.
Then she had him call a dear old friend, and farmer, to bring a tractor full of bails of hay.
Another volunteered his horse and sleigh, both, to see the city lights thru New Years Day.
This was a great idea, since the older drivers, could use the help, for their bills to pay.
The girl ran all over spreading the excitement, and to come see the prizes, his way.
The families suddenly started heading toward his door, and to those wondrous rides.
At that moment her parents came, and she explained what her hope, had improvised.
Her father talked a contractor into building a disabled family a home, to help advertise.
He could get a tax break; come to this store for supplies, and hire unemployed workers, he devised, so wise.
In the end, each night grew brighter, because of a girls hope, and heart-warming delight.
And the old man began smiling for the first time, in a long, long, time, starting that night.
All was saved, a home was found, and another built, as a sad little girl taught grownups to smile along the way…
You might say, A Spark of Hope lit a candle, then a raging fire, which was burning bright by Christmas day.

The moral to my story is:
Never give up on Hope; it’s your best friend, as life brings its troubles your way…
Know that with time, a good heart, good will, and friendly ways…
You can find God’s gifts again, if you don’t let the dark take you away…

FRUITY VOICE

FRUITY VOICE

Her voice reminds me of laughter barely suppressed
An energetic spirit tugging constantly at the rope
A caterpillar turning to butterfly at any moment
Her voice sounds like lifegiving fruit

Not serious, self-important fruit like geometrically precise pineapples
Or pompous, overfed watermelons
Too heavy to lift

Not business fruit like apples, on duty keeping doctors away
Or bananas waiting to do their slippery work under feet
Or blackberries, whose careers lie in jam

But mischievous fruit like grapes or cherries
Which roll away like playful children when you’re not looking
Or fallen raisins on the carpet pretending to be part of the pattern

Fun-loving fruit like mandarin oranges around the Christmas tree
Basking under the Christmas lights, enjoying the glitter
Of tinsel and the smell of pine needles

Small fruits which enjoy life,
Laughing as they jostle each other in their bag,
And which could easily become bubbly wine if tempted.

Her ripened voice -
The spontaneous fruit of a lifetime
Of growth and maturing, and regeneration :
Aliment for my soul’s ailment.

My 12 Days of Christmas

On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me…
A puppy that wouldn’t stop peeing on my tree.
On the second day of Christmas my true love gave to me…
Two Turtle Doves who dropped a load, as I looked up in the tree.
On the third day of Christmas my true love gave to me…
Three little kittens that my puppy, chased up daily into the tree.
On the fourth day of Christmas my true love gave to me…
Four sets of ornaments to replace, those destroyed by kittens in the tree.
On the fifth day of Christmas my true love gave to me…
Five different promises that he would again, put up, The Silly Tree.
On the sixth day of Christmas my true love gave to me…
Six strands of lights to replace those chewed on, by my little puppy.
On the seventh day of Christmas my true love gave to me…
Seven hugs and kisses, so I’d PLEASE forget, about the Blooming Tree.
On the eighth day of Christmas my true love gave to me…
Eight Trolls a milking, chasing cows thru all my hedgerow shrubbery.
On the ninth day of Christmas my true love gave to me…
Nine Trolls a dancing, that all fell on, my once beautiful garden fencing.
On the tenth day of Christmas my true love gave to me…
Ten Trolls a leaping, as Caroling candles, burned down into their hands.
On the eleventh day of Christmas my true love gave to me…
Eleven Trolls a smiling and ready to rebuild my burned down front porch.
On the twelfth day of Christmas my true love gave to me…
Twelve Trolls a hammering and a nice big bottle of Tylenol… just for me…
Plus the happy thought, I’d survived a Christmas gift, planned with love… just for me.

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and best wishes for twelve days of Christmas joy.

Christmas Merriment

Snowflakes falling, falling all night
My pine tree adorned, now illuminating under snow
I brush and brush off, unveiling Christmas twinkling lights
Giving the white ground a colorful glow
An appearance of a Hallmark card, I must say
My children gather around the tree in merriment
Then one by one they form fluffy snowballs
Laughing mischievously they begin to throw them at me
Well you can guess what happens next
Yep, before I was done they are covered in white
Red face and cold we all go indoors for the night
In front of the fireplace tired, beginning to warm
We look at each other and started to grin
Deep belly-laughs replaces the grins
You can't have enough of a good thing

Magical Candy Canes

Two little candy canes were bought at a store.
Excitement abounded as they’d have a new home, to explore.
Snuggled in a sack with beautiful toys all around.
Theirs was be a happy life, you can be sure, they had found

They arrived at their new home, as in a blink.
And what did they see, oh my, everything.
All that they’d dreamt of, was before them, you know.
And foremost was the tree… that they would call home.

The tree was decorated with such aplomb and fanfare, well done.
The children laughed and giggled as they ran all around.
What a riotous but organized day of joy it had become.
With tinsel, and ornaments, and lights so profound.

The candy canes were finally put on that glorious tree,
As, yes, a few were eaten by you and by me.
The ceremony ended when an angel was placed by Papa on top.
And no one made a sound, then vibrantly applauded as he came down.

Finally they all had dinner in the room beyond, that night.
As all settled in to wait for that illustrious visit, so right.
Joy abounded all over this house as presents were, so nicely wrapped.
And cookies were made to hand all about.

The last of the candy canes would finally be eaten on Christmas Day…
As presents lay opened and children did play.
Now don’t be sad for those two magical candy canes…
They stole a ride with Santa to the North Pole on that special day.

Merry Christmas to all at Poetry Soup!

An Angel

An angel did befriend us, on earth, before one Christmas day.
Some say she was a comet, some say she was a star.
I say she was a gift from God, here to light our way.
She was a thing of beauty that shone across the land.
Leading to a humble manger, found in Bethlehem.

And what could be so important, for her to come our way?
A savior to our lands, and yes, our hearts and souls…
Triumphantly born on Christmas Day.
That day he was born the heavens truly did rejoice.
And she, a glorious light, continued to beacon forth God’s love.

Such an important part, that angel was given on that day.
She was a beacon to our hearts and the gifts of love…
Guiding the Wise Men and shepherds endlessly along their way.
Thru her we learned lessons, such as: patience, hope, and how to give…
And yes, she led us to the Wondrous Man, who taught us how to live…

Jesus is the Reason for the Season

Christmas comes but once a year
a blessed celebration we all hold so dear
of the birth of our Lord Jesus
who is the reason for the season
                    we celebrate in many ways
                    each in our own way
by giving gifts to family and friends we love
                    with open hearts we share
it’s the season to express and show your happiness
singing songs of peace, love and joy
sleigh bells ring and children sing
the wonderful Christmas songs of the season
as angles fly through the air
Christmas trees with lights all aglow
homes decorated all in a row
waiting for Santa Claus to show
Christmas is all about love an fun
from special candies to food and such
all the goodies we love to eat so very much
to share our love for the one
                    who was born this day
to bring about peace and harmony
                    for all of history
our lord Jesus in Heaven up above

Christmas Miracles In My Town

Oft' I have mused about what I would do should I win a ton of clams.
(Of course I'd take my wife's sage advice and avoid the usual scams!)
After taking care of my family, I'd take pleasure in giving the rest away,
To those of lesser means, bringing miracles to their lives on Christmas day!

I'd seek out the homeless vets to provide them with food, clothes and shoes,
And send those well-deserving heroes on a vacation to anywhere they choose.
I'd send World War Two heroes to visit their Memorial in DC before they die,
To reminisce with their buddies, recalling the good, the bad and just to cry.

I would see that Santa Claus provided a coat and shoes to all the little ones,
And dollies for the little girls and for little boys, toy pickup trucks and guns.
And for their Moms and Dads who due to economic times are facing stress,
Arrange heat and food for their home and for Mom a Macy's coat and dress!

I'd throw the biggest party yet for families of heroes who defend our nation,
And provide a college scholarship for each of their kids to further their education.
I'd seek out old folks homes and those in hospice to give them a hug and hope,
And make life as comfortable for them as possible to be better able to cope.

I would ensure that the soup kitchens had more than ample food to feed,
All of God's precious lambs on Christmas Day who are hurting and in need.
I would donate a sizeable check to my church and go there to kneel and pray,
To thank Him for the means to provide such miracles on this Christmas day!

What If Christmas Never Came

What If… Christmas Never Came??? What if Christmas never happened? What if Christmas never came? Things around here would be different! It wouldn’t be the same! What if the baby Jesus was never born in a manger? Mankind would be in serious trouble! We’d all be in danger! If the baby Jesus wasn’t born. There would be no nativity. We wouldn’t be able to display this during our “festivity.” It’s almost like this now! It’s an “ever increasing business.” It seems like nearly everyone wants “Christ out of Christmas!” Why does it seem like Christmas is losing it’s true meaning? The very words; “Merry Christmas,” seem to be quickly disappearing! Many say; “Happy Holiday.” They worry they may “offend.” Having a “holiday” without Christ…. Once again! We need to put Jesus Christ back into our CHRISTmas season! He is what Christmas is about! HE is the very reason! May we all take some time to rejoice in our savior’s birth. May there be shouts of JOY! From the corners of the earth! Let’s not take Christ out of our joyous celebration! We need him so much right now! All over this great nation! May we bring to him a heart of love for everything he’s done. As we bring honor to Christ. God’s precious son! May we continually offer to him a heart filled with praise! Not only at Christmas time… But all of our days! By Jim Pemberton 12/05/11

Why Is Christ Taken Out Of Christmas

Christmas is the only holiday we often don’t call by name. We often forget about the true reason that Christ came. It’s the only holiday that we often call “a holiday.” It’s true meaning, is often, taken away! It’s more than the tree and all of the glittering lights… It’s time to think about the Bethlehem star so bright! It’s more than going shopping at the malls… More than, “Jingle Bells,” or “Deck the Halls!” It’s more than seeing how many people we can buy for. Or that clearance sale, you’re willing “to die for!” It’s more than buying the “newest in entertainment.” Or receiving a gift that may “cause an embarrassment.” Beyond all of the presents and all we truly believe in. Let’s all come to Christ Jesus and receive him! Let’s think about his birth, and his death on the cross! Without HIM… The true meaning of Christmas is lost! He brings the hope, joy and cheer that’s needed! Won’t you listen to his voice? That often goes unheeded? Christ is what’s important! And shouldn’t be left out! He’s what matters! And is what Christmas is all about! Let’s be joyful! It was for all of us that he came! And take this time to bring honor and glory to his name! By Jim Pemberton

Beneath The Tree

A tackle trunk beneath a tree.
It's knurled top a bright red-brown.
A rod leaned up against it's side
bought at a store from the next town.

A magic moment held in time
by elves for parents that I pride,
but not for gifts at Christmas time;
for thoughts abound and in their stride.

The tree Blue Spruce with silver boughs
seen standing still in vacant air.
The room aglow with warmth and wishes.
The first to view as though a prayer.

Upon this Christmas Day

He sleeps there in a stable
The babe born to the world
Both mother, father watch with care

Though swaddled in a cloth
He is born, yet, to be king
With but just rags for Him to wear

This special morning
The sun now shines bright
From stars there in the Heavens
To the rise of morning light
The world now is much brighter
As angels, too, now play
There’s hope and happiness to share
Upon this Christmas Day

For within the early morning
Angels brought the sky a voice
Calling forth those who wish to hear

Along then, came all others
Knowing truth within their hearts
That all now have nothing to fear

This special morning
The sun now shines bright
From stars there in the Heavens
To the rise of morning light
The world now is much brighter
As angels, too, now play
There’s hope and happiness to share
Upon this Christmas Day

Go forth and tell all others
Who had no chance to hear
The news of hope and of the joy

Let them know the Gift of God
That comes to save us all
His son sent as this little boy

This special morning
The sun now shines bright
From stars there in the Heavens
To the rise of morning light
The world now is much brighter
As angels, too, now play
There’s hope and happiness to share
Upon this Christmas Day

A Christmas Celebration

A Christmas celebration,
With the family gathered near,
A ham in the oven,
The boys with a cup of cheer.

Having such a good time,
The kids running all around,
Playing hide and seek,
Trying not to be found.

A festive celebration,
Laughter thru out the house,
Everyone across the nation,
Loving their special spouse.

Too soon the day is over,
But everyone tuckered out,
You look out your window,
As the kids all start to shout.

Snow has started falling,
Time to start again,
Guess we missed our calling,
We’ll be kids instead of men.

Snowball fights in the valley,
There’ll be skating in the pond,
Don’t sit around and dally,
When we’re making our special bond.

A big fire in the backyard,
Everyone gathers around,
Time to get warm and cozy,
We all seem to be spellbound.

Sleigh bell they are a ringing,
As the neighbors come in from the town,
Everyone starts singing,
No where could you find a frown.

Another Christmas is ending,
And what a day it has been,
Finished with all the baking,
Now waiting for the New Year to begin.

The True Meaning of Christmas

The True Meaning of Christmas! During this Christmas, let’s celebrate Christ’ birth. It was for all of us that he came down to earth. As we think about Bethlehem and the baby boy… We shout glad tidings to all! And peace and joy! This young child was to one day touch all of mankind. His message of salvation… Today… You can find! As we celebrate and fill up with holiday cheer… This same Jesus is alive today… And is always here! Though 2000 years ago, he was born in a manger... You can know him NOW! He doesn’t have to be a “stranger.” Won’t you spend some time and reflect on Christmas’ true meaning? It’s in the merciful arms of Jesus that you need to be leaning! The good news of Christmas can certainly be found… Across this nation. Every city… And town! This same Christ can bring peace to your life today! He loves you much more than words can say! May HIS love bring peace and healing to your weary soul… It’s only in him, that you can be complete and whole!!! By Jim Pemberton

This Christmas

This Christmas
Snow falling at my feet with friends around,
Snow balls flying at me and hitting sound.
Joyous hymms being sung and love so clear!
Sweet Christmas songs playing for all to hear!
 Snowmen being constructed with smiles,
Chills making us go numb, all the while...
Moms make hot chocolate young ones.
What a time Christmas is! The one true peace!
When all true hatred should come to a cease!
One thing can be assured this Christmas year
I'll be filled with joy with friends and family near!

A Christmas Poem (For Lyn, et al)

...Have occasioned
I think to have been decor-
rating The Tree, it's

piney quills & tines
dressing in glassy festoons
weightless baubles of

tins-led Christmas-candy
colors, like porcelain
fragile-fine, hooked canes

& dangled barber-pole-paean
peppermint-stick Memories
of savored hangon

trinkets & heirlooms
looming like a twinkling
tapestry 'round

wreaths of snowy popped-corn
dangling - "No, darlings, that's not
for eating..." Yes, I

have occasioned the
rows of bubbling light-tubes
like glowing chains of

warm caterpillars
inching-on toward the Manger's
Star of a chrysalis

Christmas Joy to Light-
Up the World! Oh Yes, I have
occasioned The Tree

Breathing in Ecstasy...
And the Wonder, of this from
a Guy whose Imprimatur

might have been
"Tannenbaum!"

                         H.e.m.
                         12.8.MMvi.
                         Noel.

"And so, as Tiny Tim observed, G-D bless Us, Every One!"
(" A Christmas Carol"). And...

A "...Merry Christmas to All, and to All a Good Night!"

What If Christmas Never Came

UNSUPPORTED CODE What If… Christmas Never Came???

What if Christmas never happened?
What if Christmas never came?
Things around here would be different!
It wouldn’t be the same!

What if the baby Jesus was never born in a manger?
Mankind would be in serious trouble. We’d all be in danger!

If the baby Jesus wasn’t born. There would be no nativity.
We wouldn’t be able to display this during our “festivity.”

It’s almost like this now!
 It’s an “ever increasing business.”
It seems like nearly everyone wants
  “Christ out of Christmas!”

Why does it seem like Christmas is
 losing it’s true meaning?
The very words; “Merry Christmas,”
seem to be quickly disappearing!

Many say; “Happy Holiday.”
They worry they may “offend.”
Having a “holiday” without Christ….
Once again!

We need to put Jesus Christ back into
our CHRISTmas season!
He is what Christmas is about! HE is the very reason!

May we all take some time to rejoice in our savior’s birth.
May there be shouts of JOY! From the corners of the earth!

Let’s not take Christ out of our joyous celebration!
We need him so much right now!
 All over this great nation!

May we bring to him a heart of love
 for everything he’s done.
As we bring honor to Christ. God’s precious son!

May we continually offer to him a heart filled with praise!
Not only at Christmas time… But all of our days!

What If Christmas Disappeared

What if Christmas never happened? What if Christmas never came? Things around here would be different! It wouldn’t be the same! What if the baby Jesus was never born in a manger? Mankind would be in serious trouble. We’d all be in danger! If the baby Jesus wasn’t born. There would be no nativity. The Perfect Gift

Nine months is not very long...although
it seems forever, since you've been gone.

I still remember that knock at the door, two
strangers, I recognized, by the uniforms they wore.

Disbelief in the words, I heard them say...killed in
action, on Christmas Day.

When you left me, for a land far away...I ask Jesus
to keep you safe.

I have been so alone, with just my memories of you,
but today your Christmas Present arrived, and he is
so cute.

He came into this world, giving me back my life,
someone I can hold , all through the night.

Merry Christmas, my sweet soldier...the words
I never got to say, you gave me a gift so perfect,
in every way.

Even though you are not here, to hold your son,
I promise, he will always know his father, and the
good you have done.

We will decorate our tree in Red- White- and Blue...
"This year, and always, in remembrance of you."

Merry Christmas from us both, your wife, and baby son,
we will all be together one day....when our work is done.

"Please, pray for our soldiers."

Christmas Is

A time for dreams, for presents and cheer
Or perhaps to reflect on the passing year
A time for each to give and share
With the ones we love, to show we care

The Christmas message is spread around
But tis sometimes lost in lights and sound
When that little boy was manger born
With no great fanfare or trumpeting horn

A boy so destined to bring great hope, belief
And to a troubled world some faint relief
But the message he spread as he grew older
Is lost in hype as our hearts grow colder

But it's time again to hear what he had to say
Because we need some hope in this modern day
A message of freedom, of life and love
A belief in eternity with God above

As you open your gifts and Christmas presents
Think of just what this day represents
Love, life, time with family and friends
He gave his life on a cross to see it never ends

So remember this during your time together
A life with Him goes on forever
And as you celebrate His birth with great cheer
Recall He is watching over you, all through the year.

A Christmas Love Story

Cherish the new born king
Hark the herald and
Ring the toll bells
It's Christmas time again and
Santa is on his way as the
Tinsel is strewn and mistletoes are hung
Mama got caught once again
Alone kissing a guy dressed in red
So I dashed to my window and through open the shutters
Looking upon the roof
Over and over again I somehow now
Vow to remain true in
Even believing in this little Christmas tale of a hymn

Why Do We Take Christ Out of Christmas

Why Do We Take Christ Out of Christmas?

THE SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS

The mountains majestic 'neath the mid winter sky
there was a peace in the air for Christmas was nigh
The valley serene as he gazed there below
and saw the sparkle of lights through the fresh
falling snow
He traveled alone as he had through the years
over thousands of miles through his sorrows and tears
He was just thirty when he lost his dear wife
so tragic and and to precious young life
Though he knew that one day that one day
that his time would come
that he would see her again and again they'd be one
Now tomorrow was Christmas said the lights across town
and time for some rest
to lay himself down
The lights of a diner appeared in the night
so he let off the throttle and eased to the right
He sensed something different as he walked through
the door
there was a peace in the air and a cloud near the door
A silver haired sat there by himself
said the cups are up there to your right on the shelf
He poured him a cup and sat across from the man
and noticed the scars on his hands
He though who is this man and where is this place
why all this peace when I look on his face
As he pondered the thought the gent spoke again
I've something to share is how he began
I've watched you my son since I first gave you life
Know the love that you shared with your beautiful wife
I held your heart in my hand as it shattered in two
and cried along with you when she was taken from you
Yet I noticed you didn't put life on a shelf
for over the years you gave of yourself
You tended the needy the sick and the lame
and though you were lonely you gave just the same
You've shown to others what givings about
and many a time that you went without
The spirit of giving is not in the gift
but what's in your heart when others you lift
So humbly he listened to the words of this man
when on his right shoulder he felt a warm hand
All the love he was feeling all the peace and the grace
were revealed in his tears as he gazed on her face
The midnight has passed now and morning has come
for these twenty four hours you two shall be one
Each year on this day tis what I will do
as you've given to others I give unto you.

CHRISTMAS CAME ON A FROSTY DAY

Soft dawn light...
Broke in the east
Pink and red,
in late December
Christmas came on a frosty day...
What I can remember.....

This time, so long ago
So many years passed by
Yet, I remember
The cold winter in that December
The geese long since gone south
Honking cry,
in an Autumn sky

I was a merest wisp of a boy
All I ever wanted....
was that toy....
I was seven...
You know...
On that frosty Christmas day
Back then....

Cold winters, come and go
I am old ,you know...
Yet, I remember that Christmas
On a frosty day,
back then....
In deep snow...
I was seven....

Most of the family have passed on,
gone to heaven
I remember how the candles shone,
long ago
I am old , you know....
I was seven..
Then...

We were poor, you know
back then...
Long ago
I was seven...
A mere wisp of a boy

I am old now,
but I still remember
My favourite Christmas...
My favourite toy....
I was seven

Christmas came on a frosty day....
Like so many since then
I still have that toy...
By my bed
I am eighty seven,
you know...
and still a boy.....

Post Card

It is with a complement
Bringing in the spice of life
The seasoning that Christmas means
Shadows of mistletoe
Late night wrappings
Scurrying from place to place
In wonderment
Information sharing
For the giving of that right gift
Fire burning calling company
To rest
Two is all that's needed
Crowd pleasing is best
Songs in remembrance
Church plays unhindered
Air scents crisp
Pine standing test
Deck the halls with
Love for all to see

Here Christmas comes

Just Frosty And Me

oh frosty the snowman
do you hear what I hear
do you hear what I hear
the sound
the sound
of santa claus coming to town
with rudolph near
ringing in the christmas cheer
a nose so bright
that lights up the sky at night
so come dance with me
under the christmas tree
wearing our balls of holly
fa la la la la la la
fa la la la la la la
oh frosty the snowman
do you see what I see
do you see what I see
a sleigh
a sleigh
bringing christmas gifts our way
so its time
its time
to hurry up this rythem and rhyme
for santa's here
spreading his christmas cheer
so goodnight my friend
until we meet once again
for my love for you
will always hold true

Away In The Manger

out in the pasture sits a church
homemade by brothers hands and filled with dirt

given to Mother so it stops her hurt
decorated each Christmas for what's its worth

as Mother lays down the cotton skirt
out comes the angels the manger and baby Jesus without a shirt

next comes her towering soldiers buried into the dirt
holding their swords that really can hurt

strewn lights gazes upon the pasture's dirt
frozen in time like a star that shivers and quirks

Mama's eyes glistens like fireworks bursts
for all her effort and time even when she hurts

as mother kneels in front of her church
she praises baby Jesus for all he's worth

comes in from the cold and winters bursts
gathers the children as they all look at her work

and tells us the story of a Christmas birth
as we sip on hot chocolate and felt the hurt

of how Jesus died for our sins on this earth
as we wiped our tears with our night shirts

I was glad to run out and relight the candles burst
and give baby Jesus one more kiss and fix his grass skirt

Santa's Take

What a special time of year....
I,Santa and my minion of elves
making a gazillion toys for all
the giddy girls and boys.

Just what are some of the things they
will find under the tree? Let's see !!

Colorful cars that go vroom vroom
and twin engine planes that zoom.
Remote control trucks that
tumble around the room.Oh these
things simply can't come too soon!

There's the cute little doll house
with a canary canopy and the stocking
stuffed to the brim with sugar coated candy.
Oh my, what about the indestructable
tank with the turret that pivots or the
tried and true toolset equipped with
screwdrivers, pliers, hammer
and yes, even a rack of rivets.

I almost forgot about the long-legged dolls
with their fancy silk sweaters and dresses.
Oh how girls love those that talk or cry,
or ..... yes, even make little messes.

Then there are teddy bears,dolphins,
monkeys, ...stuffed animals of all kinds.
Oh, is it possible for the youngsters
to get these tantalizing toys out of their minds?

Chutes and Ladders,Candyland, Twister,
Guess Who, a smorgasboard of board games.
Oh yes, after this Christmas Day,
nothing could ever be the same.

Then there are cd's, dvd's,mp3s
you name it, even cell phones to call.
And no, that's certainly not all.
Catchers mitts, frisbees,yo-yo's or
better yet, a new leather basketball.

Robots, Light Bright,Spirograph,
we are busy making toys for tots.
And I don't think I need to tell you
No matter how you slice it... there's alot.

But I'm running out of time here you see
and there's no limit to what
can be found underneath the tree.
Every year Christmas provides a new story.

I know I hold a special place in
the hearts of people both young and old.
But I will be the first to admit
Christmas is not about me or what's
under the tree, but might I be so bold

as to say we must not forget that the real
Christmas story is all about love.
It starts and ends with the gift of Jesus
sent to us from His Father above.

For without that very "special delivery"
Christmas Day we wouldn't even celebrate.
No, as a matter of fact, December 25th
would simply be just an ordinary date.

Christ Came For You

He was born this day over two thousand years ago,
A Savior for the world to know.
The angels rejoiced, and shepherds went to see
This baby born to set captives free.
In your life have you done the same,
Sought the gift that on Christmas came?
Have you allowed Jesus to save you from sin?
Have you invited this dear Savior in?
If you haven't, this is what I pray,
Accept the real gift of Christmas today.
It's available to you if you ask and believe
And Christ as your Savior you do receive.
If you know Christ as your Savior now,
Share what He's done in your life somehow,
And give thanks to Him on the day of His birth
For what His coming into your life is worth.
May you know the spirit of Christmas all year through,
And celebrate daily that Christ came for you.

A HEARTSTONE CHRISTMAS EVE

In the Great Hall
A gem glowed
Softly
Within its' heart
Much love flowed

So many....
Have come so far...
On Christmas Eve
On a clear night
By the light of the stars

A trail lit by stars
That swirled above
That swirled below
Soft light
Faerie love
Faerie glow

The turrets and spires
Pierced the night sky
Reflected light
Of stars
Of Faeries
Of love
For you and I

It was Christmas Eve
At Castle Heartstone
The soft light
That lay in your heart
That lay in a gem
Glowed
Let the magic weave
Love and stars
On this night

Peace on Earth

When Christmas
sends peace on Earth,
it must stay here for ever,
because this love comes from the stars.

I wish days like Christmas
will stay on Earth and never go,
with the bird's song on the snow
while heaven sends its own music.

Laughter and million lights,
like the rays of the star,
like the angel's song
like the wind's soft whisper.

This is Christmas, this is peace,
this is love in our hearts;
for the rich, for poor, for young and old,
God's treasure will open.-

A MEMORABLE CHRISTMAS EVE

It was a cold and dreary Christmas Eve,
the snow was deep so I couldn’t leave.
I was feeling sad and a little down,
most of my folks don’t live in town.
I thought that maybe I could drive to see them,
without a snowmobile that would be a big problem!
If there is a will, there is certainly a way,
perhaps I can see them by Christmas day.
I decided to turn on the television set,
There is nothing good on tonight I bet.
I turned to a Christmas movie for a minute,
it was so realistic that I felt I was in it.
I was feeling tired and was fading away,
I heard Santa outside with his reindeer and sleigh.
I got out of my seat and opened my door,
it was an amazing sight that I couldn’t ignore.
Standing before me was old Saint Nick,
he looked like the Santa Claus from the Christmas flick.
He gestured to me with his apple red cheeks,
To convince folks of this would surely take weeks!
He said, “hop in my sleigh and we’ll ride out of here,
Just leave it to me and my trusty reindeer.”
I hopped in his sleigh and off we went,
I kept telling Santa he was heaven sent.
He dropped me off at my parents' place,
happiness was written all over my face.
I woke up from what was apparently a dream,
I was still at my apartment you see what I mean?
If this were true, it would be hard to believe,
but this still turned out to be “a memorable Christmas Eve.”

My Christmas Tree Is Ewe

Monkey flies and lies disgrace the human race and television has infected all the
children and the places that they go. What I want for Christmas fare is just
ewe and a place underneath the mistletoe. My Christmas tree is thee. Humble
and retained in innocence and restfulness.
Wrapping all the gifts in love and kisses please.
The kiss is gift enough for me please send me three of them all sweet and
tender and tasting just like CHRISTMAS wine.
Love has come back to me for Christmas time.
But not of gold and silver dew eye speak of.
The very Heart of ewe is parme purple violet hued.
What have eye deserved to ascertain the fragrances of a lemon flavored ewe?
Kiss me three times dew.

Electric lights, ball of color.tinsel applied
With surgical percision...
A family chore of joy...
Generally perfofmed on a Sunday nigth,
Accompanied with "the Wizard Of Oz"

And on Christmas eve,
Laurel and Hardy and "The March Of the Wooden Soldiers",
Followed in the evening,
With Alistair Simmes
'the Christmas Charol";
The most beloved of the Christmas movies

Home made cookies
Excitment in the air

Anticipation,

Family time at it's best. Eggnog,

Life was better than good.

Life was magical.

Metaphysical wonders to be sure,
Memorieries forever to endure,
Love of life and family for-ever-more.

Christmas Hours

Snow soon turns to water, Christmas days are all but gone
Busted playthings and fading color, are all that linger on.
Off all the presents gotten and given, unwrapped be-fro' a tree
I treasure in these hours, memories that were given to me.

The look on little faces when Santa did not pass them by.
Snoring of grandfather, as a football game watched (or tried).
Ladies in a kitchen, laughing at each other as they cooked.
Wonderful smell of a turkey, and the way our table looked.

Hugs, kisses, and warning of roads as some took their leave,
Even clearing of wrapping paper, around a Christmas tree.
Putting to bed of tired little bodies as light began to fade.
Prayers to God our Father, for the family for which He gave.
