When Jesus Christ was Born

Stars have never told a lie when wise men look unto the sky.
Messages from God on high, of happiness his angels cry,
Soon dawns a blessed morn.
Wise men travel through a land
with stately camels over sand,
Their caravan majestically grand
When Jesus Christ was born.

Shepherds watching over sheep, baby lambs they safely keep.
Some of them were fast asleep on a mountain rough and steep,
Soon dawns a blessed morn.
An Angel to these men appear
Saying they should have no fear
For the Christ child is now near,
When Jesus Christ was born.

To Bethlehem they journey long, Joseph with his love so strong,
Mary with child had done no wrong; the baby did to God belong
Soon dawns a blessed morn.
This baby comes to save from sin
No rooms were found in any Inn
A stables all they found for him
When Jesus Christ was born.

A star shone brightly overhead, lighting up this humble shed,
A lowly manger for his bed, the joyful news had quickly spread
When dawned that blessed morn.
Here wise men came and gifts did bring
Shepherds bowed to their new King
Mankind rejoices while angels sing
When Jesus Christ was born.

Christmas Is Magical

Christmas is a magical time
a time for love and joy
where even in wars there is piece
between the men and women deployed

Children laugh with parents
around a green tree
everyone is together
as it should always be

snow falls on the ground
leaving everything in a blanket of white
icicles hanging from roof tops
it's such a glorius sight

Christmas is a magical time
for every boy and girl
it's a time for great happiness
and joy throughout the world

Merry Christmas Everyone

Long ago one winters night
A star it shone it shone so bright
Guiding men to see the light
God's gift to us that Christmas night.

Children playing everywhere
Fun and laughter fills the air
Angels singing so joyously
Christmas day was meant to be.

Peace on earth we hope and pray
As we celebrate this special day
The world as one in unity
This is what we long to see.

Merry Christmas to you from me.

I sing this song on Youtube if anyone would like to hear it.

The Color of Santa

What race is Santa Clause?
Some say white, some say black.
But at the end of the day, one thing's for sure;
He's the same color as your dad.

A LITTLE THOUGHT

The festive season is nigh on give thoughts and prayers, to those who have none of the simple luxuries, most take for granted the felling of trees, mostly never replanted. The elderly afraid to heat their homes the rich don christmas lit dwellings, and garden gnomes. Our troops all around the world, families apart parents and children missing them, with all their heart. No fun at all people living the street a hungry stomach, searching for heat. Most passing them by,no second care what if one day, they were there? The starving millions throughout the land walking bare feet,on rubbled sand. Christmas morning being just another day it`s the 21st century,it shouldn`t be this way.

Christmas Everywhere

Is it Christmas everywhere?
Christmas parties and stuffed teddy bears.
Songs of merry Christmas delight.
Snow covered rooftops glowing at night.
Gifts of sparkling diamond rings.
Christmas memories and special things.
Holiday feasts and decorated doors.
Chocolate covered cherries, Oh! Give me more.
Trips to the mall to buy gifts galore.
Paying with plastic I depleted my stash.
Let us make a loan I need more cash.
Is it Christmas everywhere?
Are you sure without a doubt?
Because some poor child this Christmas will be without.
Give hope and love.
Give prayers and faith.
For those lonesome people on this Christmas day.
Is it Christmas eerywhere?
With war overseas?
People dying and starving,
and no shoes to cover their feet.
Is it Christmas everywhere, with so much poverty?
Families who go hungry, with nothing much to eat.
What about the homeless and natural disaster stricken lands?
It would make this Christmas merry for the wealthy to lend a hand.
With death and crying, and cold and mourning,
an unfortunate road to a path with no glory.
Oh! What a very sad Christmas story.
My home is my castle that shelters me,
but don't forget the homeless that beg on the street.
So, make this Christmas merry if you're able to give.
Share your heart with someone and allow them to live.
The best Christmas will be without a doubt,
God will bless you for giving to those who are without.

Christmas

As the snow falls silently this night,
we feel the peace of its first light.
A time for joy a time to care,
the time for love ones to be near.
A bell sounds out through this day,
its ringing try's to show us the way.
For this is a special time of the year,
to spread love and good cheer.
It's too bad we don't feel this way,
all the time, everyday.

Magical Candy Canes

Two little candy canes were bought at a store.
Excitement abounded as they’d have a new home, to explore.
Snuggled in a sack with beautiful toys all around.
Theirs was be a happy life, you can be sure, they had found

They arrived at their new home, as in a blink.
And what did they see, oh my, everything.
All that they’d dreamt of, was before them, you know.
And foremost was the tree… that they would call home.

The tree was decorated with such aplomb and fanfare, well done.
The children laughed and giggled as they ran all around.
What a riotous but organized day of joy it had become.
With tinsel, and ornaments, and lights so profound.

The candy canes were finally put on that glorious tree,
As, yes, a few were eaten by you and by me.
The ceremony ended when an angel was placed by Papa on top.
And no one made a sound, then vibrantly applauded as he came down.

Finally they all had dinner in the room beyond, that night.
As all settled in to wait for that illustrious visit, so right.
Joy abounded all over this house as presents were, so nicely wrapped.
And cookies were made to hand all about.

The last of the candy canes would finally be eaten on Christmas Day…
As presents lay opened and children did play.
Now don’t be sad for those two magical candy canes…
They stole a ride with Santa to the North Pole on that special day.

Merry Christmas to all at Poetry Soup!

The Christmas Box

I want to tell you a story,
about one Christmas morning.
The snow was falling,
and the wind was roaring.
Holly and Christmas ferns decorated the door.
Gifts piled high around the tree on the floor.
Home baked goods from the kitchen filled the air.
The children opened their gifts with great care.
Time stood still for a moment when,
I reached for the box to open.
The box was white like snow.
Delicately tied in a big red bow.
Inside the box was a gift for me.
A tiny silver bell laid silently.
I picked it up and it begin to ring.
The music of Christmas, so charming.
My little girl said, "I hope you like your present too."
"Every time you ring the bell, a note of love from me to you."
A silent tear fell from my eye.
What a beautiful gift, and such a surprise.
I placed the bell on the mantle with care.
Even today it still sits there.
This happened many years ago.
The Christmas box with the big red bow.
A tiny silver bell plays a precious tune.
A note of Christmas joy from me to you.

Christmas in the Middle East

Said the soldier to his wife at home,
do you see what I see?

Way up in the sky, my dear,
do you see what I see?

A rocket, a rocket, dancing in the night
With a tail as big as a kite...
With a tail as big as a kite...

Said the soldier to his only son,
do you hear what I hear?

Ringing through the sky, my boy,
do you hear what I hear?

A bomb, a bomb, high above the sands
With a voice as big as the sea...
With a voice as big as the sea...

Said the soldier to his president,
do you know what I know?

So safe at home, Mr. President,
do you know what I know?

Men, men are dying in the sand
Let us bring them home
Let us bring them home

Said the Poet to the people everywhere,
listen to what I say!

Pray for peace, people everywhere,
listen to what I say!

Our nation, our nation, rising to its feet
Its strength will bring us peace today
Its strength will bring us peace today.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------
Based on the "Do You Hear What I Hear?" Christmas song written in October 1962 with lyrics by Noël Regney and music by Gloria Shayne Baker.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------While Christmas approaches nearer to our hearts and homes, it is important to remember our brothers over-seas. Everyday, people are dying in wars that should have ended long before they begun, and now, in a time as great as any, we must remember that peace is not impossible, but rather grows in the hearts of all whom maintain it.

This Christmas, let us do our part.

An Angel

An angel did befriend us, on earth, before one Christmas day.
Some say she was a comet, some say she was a star.
I say she was a gift from God, here to light our way.
She was a thing of beauty that shone across the land.
Leading to a humble manger, found in Bethlehem.

And what could be so important, for her to come our way?
A savior to our lands, and yes, our hearts and souls…
Triumphantly born on Christmas Day.
That day he was born the heavens truly did rejoice.
And she, a glorious light, continued to beacon forth God’s love.

Such an important part, that angel was given on that day.
She was a beacon to our hearts and the gifts of love…
Guiding the Wise Men and shepherds endlessly along their way.
Thru her we learned lessons, such as: patience, hope, and how to give…
And yes, she led us to the Wondrous Man, who taught us how to live…

A Quest for Peace

American soldiers in foreign lands
Spending their Christmas on hot desert sands

I pray for these soldier so far away
Wishing they would be home for Christmas Day

Indeed the holiday would be happy
If “Peace on Earth” blessings would come to be

How can we enjoy a Merry Christmas
If safety of our soldiers we dismiss

As we celebrate the joy of Christ’s birth
We need to acknowledge harmony’s worth

This joy that exists just one day a year
Would last much longer if throughout Earth’s sphere

All nations made a commitment to peace
And the pain of warfare would simply cease

The Tragedy of the Banished Revolutionaries

The Tragedy of the Banished Revolutionaries.

Epochs apart, yet,
bound by conscience,

Buddha,
Jesus,
Moses,
Muhammad,
Ram.

Enduring the whispers of time,
through creeds professed,
sermons preached,
and a million sins confessed.

Though,

the essence,
of these banished revolutionaries,
is ceremonially muted by ritual,
and gleefully crushed under,
grandiose edifices,
that serve Religion Inc.

"And the meek shall inherit the earth",
an incendiary thought,
conveniently discarded,
for the pie in the sky that must be sought.

The tragedy of the banished revolutionaries,
stings.
stabs,
whispers still,
for us to hear,
through the din of the cacophony of prayer.

Buddha,
Jesus,
Moses,
Muhammad,
Ram.

The tragedy of the banished revolutionaries,
persists,
each day that we choose,
to shun the meek,
and mouth conscience-salving prayers,

for yet more silver,
and yet more silk.

A Christmas Miracle

As the sun rose on Christmas morn
All throughout the world
A miracle was growing in the hearts
Of every boy and girl

No matter their religious beliefs
It happened everywhere
Even in the hearts of those
Who about Christmas they weren’t aware

They woke with a smile on their face
And hope festering in their hearts
In a world that needs their help
They were willing to do their parts

And just in an instant
There was a twinkle in their eye
And they knew that peace and love
Was the life that they would try

Hate and anger disappeared
In the hearts of the young
All the prejudice adults had planted
Suddenly became undone

And without fire and brimstone
With no religious dogma in the way
The future of this world
Promised a better day

Christmas Dinner

We saw that you lay in your bed; an over imbibed Christmas Day. In fact, you had buried your head; you wished we would all go away. We noticed you tossing in bed, not daring to open your eyes; aware that the daylight ahead would come as a nasty surprise. We heard as you rushed from your bed and dashed to the bathroom in flight. You peered at the glass with some dread; the face looking back was a fright. We hoped you would soon leave your bed all blessed with a happy release. But knowing you’d rather be dead, we left you to suffer - in peace. ~

Upon this Christmas Day

He sleeps there in a stable
The babe born to the world
Both mother, father watch with care

Though swaddled in a cloth
He is born, yet, to be king
With but just rags for Him to wear

This special morning
The sun now shines bright
From stars there in the Heavens
To the rise of morning light
The world now is much brighter
As angels, too, now play
There’s hope and happiness to share
Upon this Christmas Day

For within the early morning
Angels brought the sky a voice
Calling forth those who wish to hear

Along then, came all others
Knowing truth within their hearts
That all now have nothing to fear

This special morning
The sun now shines bright
From stars there in the Heavens
To the rise of morning light
The world now is much brighter
As angels, too, now play
There’s hope and happiness to share
Upon this Christmas Day

Go forth and tell all others
Who had no chance to hear
The news of hope and of the joy

Let them know the Gift of God
That comes to save us all
His son sent as this little boy

This special morning
The sun now shines bright
From stars there in the Heavens
To the rise of morning light
The world now is much brighter
As angels, too, now play
There’s hope and happiness to share
Upon this Christmas Day

LET THE STARS EXPLODE

Let the stars explode,
Let the drama unfold.
The unraveling of a code,
Is all this Christmas hold.

A season  is over;
Our hopes and dreams,
May stay stronger,
Though we feel no steam.

To this day we celebrate a years end,
Peace and love to all humanity.
Let love grow without a bend,
And make this season a velvet memory.

Merry Christmas!!!

THE PERFECT CHRISTMAS GIFT

Busy streets and shopping spree.

People were so naive of what gift to give.

Is it fancy bags or jewelries?

A huge toys or high end gadgets?

Everything that's worth and the best.

The best of the worthiest.

Price tags must be prioritized.

Empty pockets were left behind.

The season of hope and joy.

Pandemic consumerism valors.

Who wouldn't be delighted to received,

a gift in a fancy wrapper be achieved.

Christmas day isn't cost a thing.

But the love,peace and contentment,

the most valuable thing we can share.

Spreading love can win world peace.

Enlightened heart meets happiness.

Let's bear in mind that King was born,

To lead the world into salvation.

In a land of Christmas dreams

There’s a special place not to far - you know
A special place where we all can go
A place where dreams run as free as our mind
A place where we stop the happiest of times
To live our fullest at being who we are
To share and listen in each others beliefs of who we are.
To be happy being who we are

In a land of Christmas dreams
Is a special place for you and me
Somewhere to go and always see
How truly life can really be

Listen to our loved ones how we want to be heard
Understanding completely with out stating a word

Where giving is a pleasure with a hug and a kiss
Open minds and hearts and feelings as this

In a land of Christmas dreams

In a land of Christmas dreams
Is a special place for you and me
Somewhere to go and always see
How truly life can really be

For this beauty of freedom and dreams
Every night stares at you in your sleep
This giving and caring is special indeed
This giving and caring is shared between you and me

Expressing our gracious love for our friends and family
Always supporting our love and devotion
Being there for each other through times thick and thin
Always to return strong in message of the truth within

In this land of Christmas dreams
All of it’s beauty of freedom sings
Every night sings to you in your sleep
This giving and caring is special indeed
For this giving and caring of Christmas dreams
Is all behind the spirit of you and of me.

WHAT'S CHRISTMAS WITHOUT PEACE

A smart boy asked his parents, who were busy shopping,
to take him to the nearest Santa and make his Christmas wish;
setting in Santa's lap he told him this,
" What's Christmas without peace...
when kids like me are still dying?
What's Christmas without peace...
when stars can't be clearly seen in a sky covered with ash? "

" These are very profound words
for a child who cares about people sharing
the same Christmas joy! " Santa told him smiling.
" Don't wishes come true for boys,
too? " He exclaimed with a boyish ingenuity,
" Of course, they do, child...in spite of tragedy! "
Santa assured him with the tenderest hug.
" Then why, children my age still die, instead of getting love?

" Close your gorgeous eyes, sweet boy and make that wish twice...
so that all may hear it!" Santa ordered the dreamy child,
who struggled to keep them closed as long as it took;
then he slowly began wishing, " It's a wish for every kid alive:
orphans and sick ones, healthy and happy ones! "
" Which images do you see when you peak and look? "

" I see many children holding candles and singing for peace,
they sing in different languages...but love has a good reason to conquer
those who desire to keep Christmas in their homeland as I desire to keep it in mine! "
The happy boy said as he were part of that celebration under a brightly starlit sky,
" And what are they singing? " What's Christmas without peace! " His reply was.
That's the song you like them to sing...don't you? Santa exploded in jolly laughter.

The True Meaning of Christmas

The True Meaning of Christmas! During this Christmas, let’s celebrate Christ’ birth. It was for all of us that he came down to earth. As we think about Bethlehem and the baby boy… We shout glad tidings to all! And peace and joy! This young child was to one day touch all of mankind. His message of salvation… Today… You can find! As we celebrate and fill up with holiday cheer… This same Jesus is alive today… And is always here! Though 2000 years ago, he was born in a manger... You can know him NOW! He doesn’t have to be a “stranger.” Won’t you spend some time and reflect on Christmas’ true meaning? It’s in the merciful arms of Jesus that you need to be leaning! The good news of Christmas can certainly be found… Across this nation. Every city… And town! This same Christ can bring peace to your life today! He loves you much more than words can say! May HIS love bring peace and healing to your weary soul… It’s only in him, that you can be complete and whole!!! By Jim Pemberton

Peitro is barely three years old
Eleonora, his great-grandmother, eighty-three
And yet, they are the closest of friends
Carrying on and laughing in the library but
Even the studious patrons don't stare in scold

Over in the children's section Eleonora sits
Neatly on a stool with Peitro and a book in lap

Encouraging him to follow her finger
And help turn the pages and point at the words
Rewarding each repetition he says with "good boy"
They master four or five new words today before
Happily, they pick one for check-out, and go home

Protected on the lee side of the mountain
Evergreens seem lighter than the windward side
As we climb the rocky path around the crag
Catching a glimpse, between hemlock and spruce of
Earth below, cradling dimpled hamlets of homes

On each abode, a blanket of thin white
Now muffling the endeavors of mankind

Early tomorrow we will awaken to a pine-scented
Aura in our house and remember that the day is
Rising to reverance, and millennial memories
The whole ritual will again, play out all its
Holy meanings, fulfilling what desires are possible

Pumpkins have been traditional for the pie
Even when war or pestilence blanketed like winter
And bells tolled not for soul salvation, but sorrow
Christmas, returns like the prodigal son
Even as the believers huddle together to sing

Oh holy night, The stars are brightly shining
Nestled picture-postcards for annual invitations

Every child, every mother, every bent old man
Allows winter's short light, to shine a new
Ray of gold, or silver, but really, a ray of hope
Through chilled and scant possibilities of
Hearth and home, and hope, for peace on earth

MOUNTS COVERED IN WHITE

From this glazed window over the wide and bare plain,
I contemplate mounts covered in white...
breathing the purest air, watching a kite
fly in a cloudless sky that yesterday was filled with rain!

Do I wish for spring? No, because landscapes attest
that winter is also beauty despite cold and snow!
Do I feel great sadness? No, because stillness is rest
for a weary spirit like mine surviving on a warm glow!

Cuddled up in a wool blanket that grandma crocheted
on harsh winter nights, I'm munching on warm bread...
the kind baked in a break oven so deliciously crunchy;
winter stay, let me reminisce those past ones so hasty!

For many winter days are dreary, for me it's subtle silence that lasts...
allowing more serene thoughts that have a better reflective view!
Do I rather see snow than a green meadow gleaming with dew?
My answer is yes, because it rushes in another awaited Christmas!

From this glazed window over the bare and wide plain,
I spot a lonely shallow struggling and feeling much pain;
it stayed behind to discover a beautiful season that the others dislike...
fly into my palm, small bird and admire those mounts covered in white!

Christmas Magic

Children giggle
as the bells jingle
in the bright, snowy day.

It is the moment when Santa can pay
you a visit from the chimney,
and give you presents of all sorts.

It is a time that harmony
becomes becomes musical notes,
being played with a divine touch,
as the angels match....

THE HOLIDAY'S THRILLING LAUGHTER ECHOES AGAIN

The Christmas Tree with its twinkling
tiny, colored lights
were as festive as this spirit could be....
seeking a chocolate treat;
hundreds of present that took hours
to wrap lay underneath it...
there was something for everybody!
Didn't the joyful angel sing from higher
accompanied by lyres?

The Holiday's thrilling laughter
echoes again with voices that warm up
the coldest heart in town...
is anyone coming tonight and spent
the snowy night caroling with me?

Peter and Jane, the nice kids next door,
drop in and hand me a present...
so delightful is their greeting,
" Merry Christmas, Sir! "
Suddenly my cheerless face glows...
a warm emotion tingles me over,"
" Merry Christmas to you,
and thanks for remembering a lonely
neighbor who thought nobody cared! "

Towards midnight I looked to the East,
there I spotted the same star that the Magi followed...
it was getting brighter and brighter,
and standing to admire that wondrous light,
I started singing and praising Him
as all neighbors came out and joined me...
then I stopped wishing that the Holiday's thrilling laughter
would echo again! For once, snow didn't feel cold
being surrounded by their warmth!

christmas child

                              (12/22/12)

It was Christmas eve and last minute
Shoppers were running frantically
As I walked out my front door
What to my astonishment and surprise
A little boy sitting with a puppy in his lap
Looking up to the sky.

I asked : are you o.k. ? he replied : no ! not really !
Every year I find a spot to sit Down and look around
Of how free will can be put to the ground.

Why does man thrive on pain , suffering and war
When they have another door !
A door of peace, happiness and love
Sent to them from my father above.

I know since my birth it has gotten better
And people are finding their faiths once again
And love is filling many hearts and souls
But true happiness and peace should be their goal.

I see so many children abandoned and left in
the streets with out food or drink.
In the middle east and Asia- little girls lives
Are being taken and destroyed
Over the birth of a little boy.

Without the females this world would cease to exist
I would not be here if not for my mother
And like her there is no other.

Why would man want to take a life at birth
This is the most precious thing on this earth.
The children are so happy when they celebrate my birth
And receive gifts as I had done before
When the three kings opened up that gift giving door.
Yet ! I sit here reflecting on centuries gone by
With tears in my eyes.
But also with joy and fulfillment in my heart
Knowing this is the season for a brand new start.

Look into the eyes of every child that passes by
And you will see that gleam in their eyes
And love in their hearts, if they are led in the right direction
Mankind will be closer to perfection.

I could not believe what I was hearing and asked:
Who are you ? He turned and smiled and said:
I am your father my son, and I’ve come
To help everyone.
Everyone who seeks my father
I will respond in his name.

“Then he faded from my sight”
And I prayed for peace and love that same night.

             WHO WAS HE ?
