Our Mistake

Some years ago a child was born
Early on a Christmas morn
And in the sky a star did appear
Drawing people from far and near

Bethlehem the holy city the angels said
Some people were so afraid and filled with dread
But still they came to see him and by the star were led
To where the little baby Jesus lay his head

They brought him gifts in worship and crowned the new born king
They thought he was well worth it though not so Herod the king
He wanted Jesus dead for good and so he did decree
Kill all the little babies that should get rid of he

But luckily they missed him, the family had moved on
And when they went a searching, the baby he had gone
He lived to tell his story of his father’s kingdom to come
For this Jesus was crucified and on a cross was hung

He said forgive them father, they know not what they do
And then forgave us for our sins, can this man be true?
His family took him from the cross and laid his body down
Then wrapped his nail holed hands and feet, the laid him in the ground

So when I think of Christmas and of the infant birth
I often think of what we did through all the joy and mirth
So please enjoy your Christmas but try to spare a thought
And think of how we crucified the man who love had brought

A Son's First Christmas

There are more happy faces,
As we go to different places,
Don’t know what the fuss is about,
Guess, I’ll have to wait till I sprout.

So many colorful lights to see,
They’re all hanging on the tree,
Look at the special ornament,
From far away it was sent.

The icy weather is not around here,
One of the boxes has hockey gear,
In summer, we go across the border,
Soon, Santa will get my order.

Next year should be more fun,
Watch as I open gifts one-by-one,
Until then, I’ll have to wait,
Later, Dad will teach me to skate.

A Single Leaf Out of A Tree

A single leaf,
Falls out of a tree above me,
 As it twist and turn,
The wind blows it in my direction,
It symbolizes the ending point of my
struggles and all my pain,
It tells me that they twist and turn,
But never remain,
It takes a sudden fall next to me,
But why?
It symbolizes the thought of being
alone,
It tells me that someone is always
by my side,
As I write,
The leaf flies away,
As if it had a huge success in
incouragement,
Nature communicates with us in
many ways,
Not with words,
But with a single leaf out of a tree.

Christmas Past

In midst of forest stands an ancient tree
decorated by nature with white cotton snow puffs,
icicles glisten and gleam sparkling in the sunlight.

Around its base are gathered all the forest's creatures
with pregnant pause they wait as the star shines out
a beacon to all calling out, hush now do you hear?

The sleigh bells ringing out as down swoops Santa
wait, he is not alone with him the blessed babe
in distance approach the three wise men bears gifts.

All the creatures now on bended knees him they salute
the ancient tree smiles knowingly and the heavens
celebrate with comet tails and shooting stars the precious babe.

THEY BELIEVED IN THE SAVIOR

The were the three Magi with mantels and beards, traveling
on strong camels as far as Bethlehem and having
seen a wondrous star, they began their long journey
by bringing precious gifts, but they warned Joseph and Mary
of Herod's malicious intent...so they fled to Egypt
on a donkey that never complain of a sore hip!

They believed in the Savior as Herod himself full of pride,
and being very wise, they never returned
to tell him what kind of child they had found!
They brought their gifts and knelt at a child
whose fate as foretold was to die for us all,
and he gladly accepted them hearing His Father's call!

Not having heard from the Wise Men who had lied to Him,
Herod sent his soldiers to kill all children under three: screams terrorized Bethlehem;
no, they weren't moved by their mother's painful cry
and shedding their innocent blood they revenged that lie!
O mothers of Bethlehem, Jesus knew that they were slaughtered because of Him!
O mothers of Bethlehem, you wept and moaned as they bled as a sacrificial lamb!

They believed in the Savior from what they had read,
and wanted to see for themselves the glorious event that Daniel spoken of:
the brightest star shining over Bethlehem as angels sang,
announcing Christ's birth in a small town groping on a hill of citrus and clove!

Unknown

Who am I?
Am I defined by what is near in sight?
Am I defined by what I have done,
Or am I defined by what I could become?

Perhaps I'm of no use.
To him, or her, or I, nor you.
Or perhaps I'm too misunderstood to be defined,
And it is something like understanding that comes in time.

And if to the world I'm never shown,
Yet in my own light I've grown and grown,
And so I can know no happiness but my own--
The reason for my smile, to you, will forever be unknown.

I do not pray for the world to know my name.
For it and verse; the letters are the same.
And if a man should find his sorrow in what he reads,
I pray his pain my words to keep.

Should his eyes rain on my page,
Better tears than storms of rage.
And if a man should find his sorrow in what he reads.
I pray his pain my words to keep.

And if to the world you're never shown,
Yet in your own light you've grown and grown,
And so you know no happiness but your own.
Let the reason for your smile, to you, only be known.

Happy Birthday Jesus

Oh Lord and mighty Savior
I sing in your name praise be
In honor to you King of Israel
who takes away the sins of this world

Star of all stars Bethlehem
shining salvation loves light
purity in the scriptures fulfilled
proclaiming him blessed Holy One

A messenger singing Heavenly
an angel in praise to king of kings
In peace and good deeds God's only son
Blessed born his Immaculate heart

Conceived of the Holy Spirit Lord

Our shepherd born salvation leads his flock

Faraway in the distance

A diamond star they followed
light of truth born shone in a manger

As they entered bowing bearing gifts
Gold worshiping the Almighty king
Myrrh most precious bitter herb of the east
Frankincense to perfume our Holy One

The shepherds came as an angel sang out
Heavenly song in gentle melody
singing born today is our savior child

O most Gracious Lord Jesus

The First Christmas Present

A spider spun a silver web in a mound of golden straw, Then he hid himself inside the stack, away from the wind so raw. He yelled down to the sheep below Who were trying to huddle close, “It’s times like this that I wish there was a fire for a mutton roast. For winter had come upon the land and his barn was deathly cold, He wasn’t sure if he’d survive the night if the truth of it were told. He tried to dream a dream of hope to get him through the night, But he couldn’t bring himself to sleep because of a blinding light. A star was shinning down on them as if the sun in mid-day glory, The little spider had yet to learn of the coming Christmas story. Below was a ewe with her lamb both snuggled up together, Trying their best to keep warm in the cold of the winter weather. “I’d never trade places with you anyway,” the mother sheep bleated out, “Why are you so happy in your hate to lend voice to pain and doubt?” The light from heaven kept them awake and staring in wide wonder, When two weary travelers entered in and the straw became their plunder. The little spider became dislodged as a nest of straw was piled, And he could see that one of the travelers was very great with child. The three companions watched it all; they’d never seen a human being born, They were all surprised when at his birth There came the peal of an angelic horn. A herald’s call went out to all the land announcing the newborn king, And the spider and the ewe shared a laugh to think of such a thing. Because this baby was so very small and his parents were so poor, Yet there was something about this newborn child that neither could ignore. The spider looked down on the ewe and said in a voice too bold, “This baby needs to be swaddled now to keep him from the cold. Good ewe I can spin for him a cover if you’ll allow me to use your fleece.” So together they worked to swaddle the child on this night of Holy peace. The mother smiled at them all as she took the blanket for her boy, Then laid him in a manger poor and they were overcome with joy. The meaning of this wondrous event was what made them all feel glad, For they had brought the first gift to the Lord by sharing what they had. And the warmth, which they had provided the child, also kept the three of them warm, May the loving joy that they discovered keep you this Christmas morn. Merry Christmas!

What is Christmas Really About

Quickly is coming Christmas day,
Perhaps you ponder with dismay
Amidst the shopping and the shouts,
What is Christmas really about?

Is it about reindeer and elves,
The gifts we wish for ourselves?
Is it about wrapping paper and bows,
Stockings stuffed with goodies clear to the toes?

Is it about family, friends, and feast,
The smell of bread baking rising with yeast?
About trees, lights, and cute decorations,
Parties, eggnog, and celebrations?

These commodities make the holiday bright,
But something else is required to make it right;
For Christmas is not about programs and costumes worn,
But about a miraculous baby that was born.

About Mary and Joseph, man and wife,
Who came to Bethlehem pregnant with life.
No room was left for them in the inn,
Shelter was found in a cattle pen.

The time of her delivery would not waiver,
In that stable she experienced labor.
Born into a place smelling of manure,
Christ arrived our salvation to assure.

Nearby shepherds tending flocks by night
Were startled by a glorious light.
Angels while seeking to calm their fear
Came proclaiming this event of cheer.

Told of a birth of a baby boy,
A king, a savior, who would bring joy.
His mission was one of peace,
From our sins to bring release.

Then with haste they went with glee,
Marveled at what they did see;
Found him in a manger yet filled with glory
Then left with excitement to tell his story.

So as we gather this December
May this jingle help us remember,
Christmas is not about dear old Santa Claus
But about the Christ who saves us from our flaws.

A Gray Christmas

The little boy sits by the christmas tree
Full of light and color
Trying to figure out what all the colors are
He puts his little hands on the ornaments
Trying to see what they are
Feeling them
He steps back and falls over a present
He feels around the box trying to open it
Only seeing alittle

Mean while on the phone..

his mom is talking to the doctor

"do you think he will be able to see by christmas?" she says
The doctor replies "theres no guarentees, he is 67 % blind, when we did the test with him, he described the color blue as a dark black, and a yellow as a light gray, your son only sees in black and white and im not sure if we can fix that. but we will do our best"

A breathe escapes from her lips as she turns and looks at her son
The doctor explains "his surgery is set for Dec. 7th. be here around 8 am and we will see what we can do, im trully sorry"
He hangs up.

Back in the living room

The boy stands up and walks over to his mom
"mom, have you seen the christmas lights?" he says

She replies "yes sweety i have."

He hugs her leg and says "are they black and white?"

She answers "no sweety" she points to a light bulb on the tree

"this one is blue" she smiles

He grabs the light bulb and repeats "this one is blue" and giggles

She lays him down in his bed as he quickly falls asleep

She sits down on the chair and thinks
"to me. because my son cannot see the beautiful lights and feel the joys of christmas, everything is gray for me. nothing will fill my empty heart"

There are no smiles, when everything is gray, when you cant see the colors of a bright day

What If Christmas Never Came

What If… Christmas Never Came??? What if Christmas never happened? What if Christmas never came? Things around here would be different! It wouldn’t be the same! What if the baby Jesus was never born in a manger? Mankind would be in serious trouble. We’d all be in danger! If the baby Jesus wasn’t born. There would be no nativity. We wouldn’t be able to display this during our “festivity.” It’s almost like this now! It’s an “ever increasing business.” It seems like nearly everyone wants “Christ out of Christmas!” Why does it seem like Christmas is losing it’s true meaning? The very words; “Merry Christmas,” seem to be quickly disappearing! Many say; “Happy Holiday.” They worry they may “offend.” Having a “holiday” without Christ…. Once again! We need to put Jesus Christ back into our CHRISTmas season! He is what Christmas is about! HE is the very reason! May we all take some time to rejoice in our savior’s birth. May there be shouts of JOY! From the corners of the earth! Let’s not take Christ out of our joyous celebration! We need him so much right now! All over this great nation! May we bring to him a heart of love for everything he’s done. As we bring honor to Christ. God’s precious son! May we continually offer to him a heart filled with praise! Not only at Christmas time… But all of our days! By Jim Pemberton

Maya

Love comes in a small bundle
Of the sweet smell of Maya
The end of the world some have said
Oh how wrong are all the gods

Maya, is the beginning
Of a new world
Her smile alone, a star upon us
She hungers only to love the world

I am humbled, by her beauty
The simplicity of her grasp
As she holds my finger in delight
She is the Angel of the darkest night

She was born under the star of Christmas
Early she was, but right on time
She laughed her way into my heart
She is truly the second coming

I sat with Thaddeus on that day
He was curious, of his sister to be
And so we talked, like two old men
Of life and donuts, and do zombies dance

If you ever wonder, why we humans care
Look into a babies eyes
The answers stare back
There is no asking why

Maya from heaven, I am sure was sent
A year has passed
The world still turns no end in sight
As I light a single candle this special night

I wish the world to be yours Maya
Happy Birthday!

OUR SAVIOR'S BIRTH

In the silence of the night,
A baby is born to be the king,
                                              Angels from heaven are rejoicing,
Stars from the black sky are shining.

On the manger lies a baby smiling,
That day, a miracle is happening,
All over the world are celebrating,
On the place we called Bethlehem.

O holy night, our savior’s birth,
Let us kneel, pray, and praise Jesus,
Peace on earth for this glorious day,
May our hearts filled with happiness this Christmas!!

A Christmas Dream

Over the blasts of mortar shells,
He heard the sound of jingle bells;
And when he closed his tired eyes,
He got a Christmas Day surprise.

Snow was fall’n and his boy was call’n:
“Daddy, can we go down now?
I think it’s clear, Santa’s been here
And Daddy got home some how.
We are a family, Daddy, Mom and me
On this Christmas Day;
I’m with you, my wish came true,
The one to Baby Jesus I did pray.”

From across the world, so far away,
In a foreign land on Christmas Day;
Sleeping with his fatigues still on,
His boy’s voice was a Christmas song.

Snow was fall’n and his boy was call’n:
“Daddy, can we go down now?
I think it’s clear, Santa’s been here
And Daddy got home some how.
We are a family, Daddy, Mom and me
On this Christmas Day;
I’m with you, my wish came true,
The one to Baby Jesus I did pray.”

Please remember our service heroes,
Scattered throughout the world,
As we celebrate with our families,
The good will they hope to build.

He woke up to a flash of light,
And screams resounding in the night;
He charged forward to help his peers;
With his son’s voice ringing in his ears.

Snow was fall’n and his boy was call’n:
“Daddy, can we go down now?
I think it’s clear, Santa’s been here
And Daddy got home some how.
We are a family, Daddy, Mom and me
On this Christmas Day;
I’m with you, my wish came true,
The one to Baby Jesus I did pray.”

A Child's Christmas

Hush little baby, close your eyes.
Awaken to a grand surprise.
Santa is traveling o'er the Earth
In honor of the Christ Child's birth.

He will bring to you a toy
For being Mom and Daddy's joy.
Sleep now and dream of Santa's sleigh.
Tomorrow will be Christmas day.

From the Womb

From the womb there is a life that wants to live
From the womb there is a life that has something to give
A life that may grow up to become a doctor
A life that may grow up to become a lawyer
Or maybe that life will write a novel like Tom Sawyer
But maybe that life won't happen
Because its mother has another plan
A plan to abort this unique life
A unique life that will undoubtedly become so special
So special in fact that it will bear the image of God
And God will want this life to have an important impact
On the many lives it will come into contact
But again the mother's plan is to abort this life, from the womb
So how do we convince this mother not to dump it in the tomb
The tomb that houses all the aborted lives throughout the years
And also contains from ten thousand angels their many tears
So if you can talk to this mother and tell her the life inside her
Is a life created by God and considered to be an important one
You will have done something very bold and brave
To turn her around, to give her baby a chance to live

Now, As Then

The Angel passed by the house of worship
and over the rich man's gate;
appeared on a lonely hillside
to men of humble faith.

The star shone not before his people
but to strangers in a foreign land,
men of learning who studied the planets,
and knew that a King was born to man.

What will he find when he comes to us?
Will he find us waiting for him,
or will he pass over and appear to others,
finding our faith a little too thin?

Will he be pleased with how we worship
Will he be honored by what we do,
or will he view our preparation and say,
"Presents too many and prayers too few"?

who was he -childrens christmas story

  once upon a christmas day
when the children had came out to play
there in the snow on the ground
a baby was there that they found
the baby was as white as the snow
and his cheeks had such a glow.
he was wrapped in a blanket of red
and the snow was his bed.
most children would have cried
from the cold.
but he was laughing
or so i was told.
his laughter was quite different.
it wasn't a ha-ha-ha.
but a ho-ho-ho.
the children picked him up to take him inside
to show their parents
their brand new find.
the parents shocked and dismayed
none knew- just what to say.
who would have the heart to put
this child abandoned in the snow.
his body temperature from what i see
is as perfect as can be.
now you know that the police
are forty miles away.
what can we do, what can we say.
we have no phone and very little gas
should we keep him, or should we pass?
there's not enough food to go around
and now another mouth that you found.
the baby lying in the bed
pointed up above his head
waved his finger all around
and food came tumbling to the ground.
he waved his finger one more time
and at their feet, christmas boxes galore
like you'd find in a department store.
all with labels with their names
clothing, shoes, and electronic games.
looking at the baby in total surprise
there came a gleam in his eyes.
the baby laughed his ho-ho-ho- again.
'this is for you my wonderful friends.'
you helped others when you couldn't help yourselves
and shared the little bread with others
and called them your sisters and brothers.
now it's time for you to receive
for all the kindness that you've achieved.

and quick as a lightning he was gone.
but he left the red blanket to carry them on.

now my children i must ask
who was the one that created this task?

faith and love will rule this world
teach it to your boy and girl.

Let’s not take Christ out of our joyous celebration!
We need him so much right now!
 All over this great nation!

May we bring to him a heart of love
 for everything he’s done.
As we bring honor to Christ. God’s precious son!

May we continually offer to him a heart filled with praise!
Not only at Christmas time… But all of our days!

Joys from Heavens

The time of year when the joys
Rain down form Heavens
When the families get together,
When the children look up in hope
Santa’s fill surprise in the socks at night
When the snowman appears in gardens
There comes a the giggles and chants
Colored balls in trees and stars shining
Exchanges of greetings nights of prayers
We gather to celebrate the coming of Joy
Night to celebrate the Holy Jesus
Night to celebrate new Life, for its
The time of year when joys
Rain down from Heaven…

What Christmas Means To Me

We all sat around the Christmas tree
As dad opened his Bible and read the story.
We eagerly listened of a baby born
What a wonderful blessing the people heard the next morn.
This little baby who no one knew
One day would work miracles and save us too.
You see we’re bound by our sin until He died on the cross
We were all wanderers, we were all lost.
But it’s not just a story it’s reality you see
That God loves the world and He picked me.
To spread the story to everyone around
To let them know, us, our sin can no longer be bound.
That we too can go to be with Him
Because on the cross He paid for all our sins.
This is the true meaning of Christmas you see
So go into the world shout praises and sing!
Then he closed his Bible as a tear fell from his eye
It’s God’s amazing love that He sent his son to die.

A-Night-before-Christmas

All filled with tinsel and gifts
And shoppers prepared with their holiday lists;
Big trees fill our homes and lights glow from our roofs
Each child tucked in bed listening for eight tiny hoofs;

Parents scurry about to make things just right
Because Santa will be here for its Christmas Eve night;
We’ve maxed out our cards and shopped ‘til we dropped
We fought through the crowd for the last toy in stock;

Each year that passes, we swear to no more
Now the night before Christmas and we’ve cleaned out the stores;
All the gifts are wrapped with pretty bows and paper
We must enjoy it now because we’ll pay for it later;

We listen to choirs and sing jingle bells
We even toss coins into little red pails;
We quickly pass Angels attached to the trees
For we forget about others who truly have needs;

It’s Santa with his bag of toys and his magical sleigh
Frosty the Snowman sings, dances and plays;
For Jack Frost and the Grinch are kin no doubt
On Dasher and Dancer the ole’ man shouts;

These stories are familiar and very well known
But we forget the one of the King on the throne;
This stress of the season it all starts to build
And then we remember a story in a field;

There were Angels, stars, shepherds and sheep
They stood in such awe and spoke not a peep;
They followed a star to a far away land
With no more than themselves and a staff in their hand;

The journey was long but there was no anger
No traffic or malls just a small little manger;
No stockings were hung, no gifts or trees
Only Mary and Joseph who bowed on their knees;

When the shepherds arrived, they met a beautiful sight
The baby who was born on that bright, starry night;
No Rudolph, Santa or the man made of snow
Only the new baby Jesus wrapped in swaddling clothes;

For this is God’s gift that can’t be bought with a price
Even Jesus himself had to pay with his life;
Though we charged up the bill, he paid the debt meant for us
And we thank him by changing his name to an “X” with a “mas”;

Christmas is no more about Christ and his birth
It’s all about gifts and what we can charge ‘til it hurts;
We’ve no time for the truth, only fairytale plays;
About eight tiny reindeer and a man with a sleigh

It’s not Christmas in December on the 25th
It’s a “holiday” for all those who want to forget;
For twas the night before Christmas and you should ask yourself this,
have I included Christ on my list.

Christmas

Christmas is the holiday where we celebrate Jesus's birth
and a lot of people don't know how much its worth
Its not about presents,Santa and his reindeer, or lights on the glow
its about celebrating someone we love
that lives up above
We celebrate Christmas and think its about presents
but it is about baby Jesus's presence!

                                                      i love Jesus!!!

Part of the Plan

Part of the Plan

The fields were cold that long winter night
And I just shivered and shook
Then came a sound and a brilliance of light
So I turned to the sky for a look

The memories that’s made
Of the music that played
As the words rained down on earth
Of a baby that’s born
On this very morn
Our long promised savior’s birth

I laid my staff down
Hurried into the town
To search for this mother and child
When I found them I knelt
For I truly felt
My calling when that baby smiled

I’ll follow this boy
Through heart ache and joy
And stand by his side as a man
For I know even now
That somewhere, some how
I play a small part in his plan

My Christmas Baby

A Christmas Baby, he should of been
But, was too cold, to come out then
He waited four more days
Before he came in our life to stay.

He was our miracle baby
That was born on that special day
Nobody could ever have been happier
That memory can never be taken away

All grown up, and almost twenty-four
Hated to see our boy, walk out that door
To begin his life on his own
He still knows we love and care
Like we always have before

If There Was NO Christmas

Christmas -- As We See It

CHRISTMAS – AS WE SEE IT

A sparkling white crest of new fallen snow
A bakery window laden with freshly baked pastries
Children – sledding down a hillside or skating on a frozen pond
Sleigh bells ringing on a horses harness as the sleigh swishes by
Cardinals, waxwings, and sparrows lingering on the bird feeder
                                         for one last seed
Shoppers, braving the cold and hurrying from one store to the next
                                         searching for that “perfect” gift
Postal workers delivering mounds of Christmas cards to countless friends and relatives
Traffic at a standstill, waiting for the light to change
Street lamps blazing with twinkling lights and banners proclaiming MERRY CHRISTMAS
Church marquees advertising their upcoming Christmas Cantata
Soup kitchens serving a multitude of needy and homeless people
Bell ringers from the Salvation Army as they solicit donations
People being nice to one another for at least this season
This, and much more is Christmas – as we see it
But what of the real reason for Christmas
A baby lying a manger awaiting the time when He will declare His Kingship
Shepherds, as they hurry to Bethlehem to “see this thing that has come to pass,
which the Lord has made known to us”
Mary, Joseph, and the Baby Jesus surrounded by animals –
animals which are also a part of Christmas
Behold, the Star of Bethlehem shining bright as it did thousands of years ago
Yes, we see Christmas in various ways, but let us not miss Christ –
                                     the real reason for Christmas
Let us embrace Him – not just as a Baby born of a virgin
But as Lord and Savior of our life – King of Kings and Lord of Lords

Christmas morning

Beside the fireplace
snug and safe, this
truly is a heart warming
place

It's simple things like
family being together,
in out the bitter winter
weather.

Around the tree on Christmas
morning, taking joy from baby
Jesus being born.

The message
may be simple but the meaning
is tremendously blissful.

Light of the World, 2

In a world of anger, muck,
gloom and grief
a light beams.
It follows the rainbow
of long ago
with promise, with hope.

It comes to us
as of old
not to illume the vile
but to introduce
the answer
to every question.

It comes to us
in naivete, in love
the ultimate sacrifice
calling us back
into the light.

christmas time

Christmas time
For many of us here
it's Christmas time once more
With tinsel and mistletoe
And sprigs of holly around the door
Brightly coloured fairy lights
Bedeck the Christmas tree
It makes it very special
To folk like you and me
But for some it's not so special
If theres no one in their heart
No one in their lives to love
No one person to be a part
It truly is a Christian thing
Although other faiths do join in
They don't know the importance
And yet it is fun for them to do
The birth of baby Jesus
Is the gift for me and you
We celebrate his birth each year
On December the 25th
It takes us from our hum drum way
And gives us all a special lift
We bring gifts to all our loved ones
Yes but the greatest gift of all
Is the little baby Jesus Lying in his stall

So please don't hate the others
Who do not appreciate our way
Our very special festival
Our Christian Christmas day
                                         Eros

this baby

this baby that is born on christmas day
why is he here
why did he live
this baby was born to take our sins
yet we feast and party christmas
we don't bless this child
we don't care that he is born
we don't care that he died on the cross
we don't understand what he was for
this baby born on christmas day

Once Upon A Christmas

I stand at the window and watch the snow fall
It's been two hours since Billy left
The wind has built, a blizzard set in
And I can't put my mind at rest.

The snow has drifted blocking the road he took
But he knows his job, the cattle must be watered and fed
And hay for the baby calves to bed.
"I'll be all right," he said.

There is no school it is Christmas vacation
The radio predicted conditions to worsen.
With his family save and warm
He then sets about caring for those out in the storm.

TV and presents keep the children entertained
While I my hair do pull.
Dinner is ready and still Billys not home
And with questions like "When's daddy coming home?
And "Can I go out and play in the snow?"

It is hard for them to understand
It isn't just a snow fall, the danger is far to grave
Wander to far and they could be lost
And in turn perhaps lose their lives.

Two o'clock, three o'clock, four o'clock came
Finally Billy comes through the door
Wet, exhausted and frozen to the bone
He removed his outer garments and collapsed on the chair.

As he ate the children came
Excited to have daddy home
Satisfied he was safe and sound
They went back to their TV and games.

Chore time came and the blizzard ruled
I offered to do my share
He smiled and said, "Everything's fine.
Just the cow to milk and the pigs to feed
And I'll be right back inside. "

I put on my coat took shovel in hand
And worked at clearing the path.
In an hour it would be covered again
But I needed to have some fresh air.

All were in bed, the Christmas tree bright
The Nativity set caught my eye
Tenderly I picked up the manger, bow my head and say
"Thank You Baby Jesus and Happy Birthday."

                                                                Cile Beer

Away In The Manger

out in the pasture sits a church
homemade by brothers hands and filled with dirt

given to Mother so it stops her hurt
decorated each Christmas for what's its worth

as Mother lays down the cotton skirt
out comes the angels the manger and baby Jesus without a shirt

next comes her towering soldiers buried into the dirt
holding their swords that really can hurt

strewn lights gazes upon the pasture's dirt
frozen in time like a star that shivers and quirks

Mama's eyes glistens like fireworks bursts
for all her effort and time even when she hurts

as mother kneels in front of her church
she praises baby Jesus for all he's worth

comes in from the cold and winters bursts
gathers the children as they all look at her work

and tells us the story of a Christmas birth
as we sip on hot chocolate and felt the hurt

of how Jesus died for our sins on this earth
as we wiped our tears with our night shirts

I was glad to run out and relight the candles burst
and give baby Jesus one more kiss and fix his grass skirt

Date With Destiny

3:00 A. M. December 24th,
Nineteen Sixty-three,
labor began, too early.
Hubby, three children
sleeping, what to do?

Inspiration: Celebrate now,
the kids won't know the difference
and you won't miss the excitement
on their faces, the shining eyes,
the laughter, the hugs.

Daddy arises on request,
assembles toys and tricycles,
one day early.

Three hours later,
deposit kids with Grandma,
fast trip to the hospital.

Red roses from Papa
and healthy baby boy
bring tears of joy.
