These Eyes Seek You

These eyes seek you between here and there Where lonely hearts beat one to one They seek you beyond that thin fine line where the burnt orange of fire meets the silver edges of the ocean Where its heat impregnates the dormant tide with a spell binding mirage These eyes seek you between two mocking worlds where strong monsoons blow away each falling star They seek you in infinite distance where the smell of salt fills the misty air and the scent of musky roses blooms throughout the year They seek you across silhouetted sails against a glowing moon These eyes, these brown eyes move like last shadows of seagulls Soaring high in strangest of places Fearless,on the verge of nothingness They seek, they search, they roam They roam across the skyline which seperates our paths our deserts and waters Our lands and our hands But not our dreams Our dreams will not be taken Of dreams We are belongers And it is there where I live It is there where I would not exist It is there where these eyes will often be solaced by the comfort of your arms

Sunday Drive

a long Sunday drive
south on a winding beach road
to find my poem
I listen for profound words
from a knowing wind and sea

Goodbye, My Child

Where cradled canyons sing
Of ebony wood in the forest
There lies a gurgling spring
Where cockcrows sing their chorus
To the melody of singsong birds
There I’ve concealed my sensuous words
Filled with befitted signs
The saccharine whiff of my designs

Come to me my mortal youth
To the wild realm of your truth
Where nymphs and gnomes abound
For the earth is filled with weeping
And only your tears be found

Where the fogs of night are fountains
Spills of glistened moon ignite
By distant silhouette mountains
We dance with passion of fight
Entwining ancient stance
Mingling hand in hand we dance
Till the mountains smile on high
Near and far we spring
To pursue the realest of dreams
While the world cries at its seams
Anxious in trouble to cling

Come to me my mortal youth
To the wild realm of your truth
Where nymphs and gnomes abound
For the earth is filled with weeping
And only your tears be found

To where the ridges merry make
From the beaks of wooden bright
In sparkly pools the ghouls awake
That scarce to stir our night
We watch for seekers down under
Muttering secrets in their soul
We bid them lucks of shivers
Dipping gently in
From reeds that hide a tear of a foal
Under the gentle rivers

Come to me my mortal youth
To the wild realm of your truth
Where nymphs and gnomes abound
For the earth is filled with weeping
And only your tears be found

Far away she shall ever churn
The taciturn eyed
She’ll listen no more to turn
To the working mills beside
Or the scrubbing of the barn
May peace weave in her song
She shall wave in the yarn
To a haven known as Belong

Come to me my mortal youth
To the wild realm of your truth
Where nymphs and gnomes abound
For the earth is filled with weeping
And only your tears be found

For she comes, the mortal youth
To the wild realm of her truth
Where nymphs and gnomes abound
For the earth is filled with weeping
And only her tears be found

Lake, Water and Sun

Lake, Water and Sun

Blue lake stirs the youthful mind,
water shines then invites us on in.
Sunshine covers this rare new find
as delight gives each a big grin-
the youthful mind, invites us on in.

Work done, we have no more chores
sweet time for living life instead.
Sun beams hot upon these shores-
cool waters splashes upon each head-
upon these shores, living life instead

Is this a Nirvana with a bad twist,
rhapsody set to fine angelic tunes;
love leaping through a watery mist?
Will love burn out into the dunes-
with a bad twist...out into the dunes.

My Life

My life is like the sea waves,
That rise and fall continuously,
My life is like the sea waves,
That come to play with me,
My life is like the sea waves,
In whom I drown my sorrows,
My life is like the sea waves,
That live each day for a better tomorrow,
My life is like the sea waves,
That come again and again to see me,
Just to tell me that,
There are many things to come,
And that I should not feel down,
For this is all just a drop in the sea!

the day you flew to Heaven

We knew , it was if a moment stopped in time
hearing the news before most of the World did
He loved to fly his plane from Colorado to Monterey Bay
He was a avid golfer at Pebble Beach respected

He had loves and passions from many places
deciding to fly low through the overcast red sunset
Not only did he love music and inspire all
He loved his Plane , he will always remain a beautiful Soul

The next day it was confirmed ..all saddened
It was John Denver's plane that went down
Today in Pacific Grove stands the Memorial
So Kiss me and smile for me we will ~
              always in loving memory
OH babe , do we hate you go ~

A Walk on the Beach

Morning breaks in cheerful warm brilliance,
pale sapphire sky pristine.
Grey-white gulls glide vociferously above
in search of firma bound fare.
Reflections of Sol’s arms vault from the sea,
smooth but for zephyr stroked folds;
pure, sugar white sand kissed softly
by persistent waves subtle roll.
Soft ghosts of tepid breeze course random,
sensually caressing what be;
long thin-bladed grasses sway lightly
in synchrony and shameless delight.

With bonnet in hand an aged woman strolls
beside the vast Gulf of blue;
damp, firm sand squeaks soothingly
against the soles of her tired bare feet.
Her large eyes of brown focus ahead,
bear no witness to her days and shine;
fine flowing hair of luminous white
draped over shoulders so slight.
A pause, though brief, in quiet reflection,
her gaze upon the distant view
and mind in stoic reminiscence
of past friends and loves and wonder.

His strong arms hold her close tightly,
warmth of body and soul unite,
while gaiety in unbound laughter
disclose love once again renewed.
A tender brush of hand upon cheek
raises fiery passion in both,
as excited young eyes meet in ardor
essence link in eternal embrace.
One warm briny tear born of these thoughts
streams slowly down her cheek,
she slowly walks on as sand squeaks soothingly
against the soles of her tired bare feet.

Waves on the Beach of Life

      soft waves ripple the water,
               they come and they go,
           sprinkling seeds of fervent hope

   gentle waves tickle the sand,
            they come and they go,
       leaving dreams
                   of rapture

             Boastful waves CRASH into rocks,
    they come and they go,
           shattering dreams
                           to s m i t h e r e e n s

frantic waves expunge the sea foam,
         they come and they go,
                it does

silent waves creep back to the sea,
they come and they go,
        a cupful of
              tears in tow

Connected by sunlight

He laughs with his little boys,

races with them along the shore.

He looks like a man who’s quite adored.

His wet hair hangs slightly in his eyes,

tanned face has a weekend beard.

He smiles at me with a boyish grin

and I smile back,

and for a moment, we are connected.

Two strangers

connected by sunlight.

A Beach Without Water

A beach without any water is a desert
Nachos without any cheese is a chip
A ski slope without any snow is a hillside
Me without you is no relationship

A zebra without any stripes is a donkey
A fountain without spray is a statue
Valentines Day without a lover is a bummer
And that’s exactly how I feel without you

Please be the water for my desert
Please be the cheese upon my chip
Please be the snow on my hillside
Please be in my relationship

Please be the stripes on my donkey
Please be the spray for my statue
Please be my lover every single day
Please never let me be without you

(NOTE: This poem was inspired by my 6 year old son. We are going to the beach this week-
end and he asked me, “Will there be water near the beach?” That gave birth to the first line
of this poem, which started my thoughts in motion.)

Like Pebbles on a Beach

We became like pebbles on a beach touching in the depths, caressing in the shallows Crystal waves, crested us above the deep abyss In ever ending caress, we were carried together, brushing, embracing tribulations as we progressed The further we were washed, the more we became estranged Stranded we eventually became, the depth in our love drifted amidst Slowly, different tides brought different waves Cross currents were gradually pulling us apart Discarded like driftwood, with it's meaning of existence What we were, and what we had became eroded It reached the point, where we couldn't communicate All became lost as we entered our abyss We aged like pebbles on a beach, only to be turned into broken stones

Sand Castles

Upon a beach I came to stand
And watched a child at play.
He did while playing in the sand
A point of life convey.

With scoops and buckets he did build
A structure tall and grand.
And to the child the beach did yield
A castle made of sand.

But as he left, I do recall,
Away I did not turn.
And with the coming night would fall
A lesson to be learned.

The tide came in, with force did strike,
The castle could not stand.
And I was shown how life is like
A castle made of sand.

And man is but a child at play,
His works they will not last.
For all he builds within days
Shall be by time surpassed.

Each thing we do, Each thing we say,
Each notion we conceive,
They all to soon shall pass away,
Yes, this I do believe.

We leave no mark, we leave no trace
That shall forever stand
Be sure my friend time will erase
Our days however grand.

Today at the beach

Waves crash down on the rocks reducing them to sand
Then sweeps them away to some far off land
The wave roll in covering my feet in sand
In the concept of time I wonder just who I am?

I gaze before me the vastness of the sea
Represents all the possibilities inside of me
I can’t think of any place I would rather be
I have trouble describing there’s so much to see.

I walk out to the rocks to find some treasure
I find many starfish much to my pleasure
It seems that the only way to go is up
So I step up and take a drink from life’s cup.

Peace and tranquility fill me inside
While the waves provide a pretty good ride
The water is cool and so refreshing
All of the pieces seem to be meshing.

A seagull in the water and gets hit by a wave
I dawn a smile and feel I am saved
I like how the sky melts into the sea
Over the horizon sounds like the place to be.

The adventure I’m on may never be through
Sometimes I’m not sure what I should do
I just press on and see what shall become
I like what I see so I try to grab some.

Relaxing on the Beach

Oh, the taste of sweet mangoes
While relaxing on a Caribbean beach.
Such a refreshing way to watch the sun
Setting on the blue and calm horizon.

This sweet mango is such an appetizer
Preparing the pallet for the main course.
Stimulating one’s stomach for a feast
With visions of the coming dish,
The main flavor of the day.

Oh, I like tasty mangoes
The setting sun, and
Caribbean beaches.

The People Around Me

Things seems to be very clear,
When actually felt it is unclear,
What really seems to be clear,
May never ever be clear for ever.

Your help for others,
May be to be appreciated,
Or taken as what is called,
to be uncounted.

My question is clear,
Why the help for others,
Is sometime never appreciated,
However it is always delivered.

In response to ethics,
lingers in my mind the answer,
To help others is not to be recognised,
But it is to be called someone,
Who can be respected.

To all, continue to help,
Not to to be appreciated by others,
But to be respected by yourself.

Islands in Time

Sand swishes between toes, pulls you toward peace
the palms fanning you, slowly, like a lover feeding grapes.

Birds peek shyly from the understory, sometimes hover
and chirp-nag you for disturbing their nest.

Every wave splashes me toward the permanent home
beneath the sea, crabs praying on life, tangs spitting

more sand, and more sand, its caught in my eyes
and I most doze, bake and doze, submerge, swim

until its only my toes realizing there is life, sand
edging up on me from every side, counting the lines

down to where there is an end, breath choked off
because all the sea, and sand, and prayers, and prey

can no longer get to me. I've walls of peace swaying
gently like a snake hypnotized before the charming pipe

to say come home, and know I'm always home,
always home, praying, praising, the rise and fall of sand.

in the sand

between the grains of sand
all my dreams shattered apart
a cup of my coffee spilled in between
 dissolved between the salty waves
just like a lost dream
between the grains of sand a lost life
so things seem
no matter how hard I hold on
everything from between my fingers slip
just like sand grains
lost between life's sea waves in endless vain
one thing that would remain
that would be pain

The Beach of Promises

The Beach of Promises

Fingers entwined, barely touching,
turquoise waters teasing your dancing toes,

strolling along that serene deserted beach,
our promised dreams within aching reach.

Hands clasped, holding on,
sea-breezes tickling the nape of your neck,

walking together, alone, vowing to never breach,
the dreams dreamed on that faraway velvet beach.

Hands in my pockets, alone,
traces of you linger, teasing,

lost in my scribbles, your memory fading out of reach,

my thoughts ablaze, now and then,
catching a whiff of your fragrance,

wafting through alleyways of nostalgia,
your hand in mine on our pristine beach.

Home is Where the Ocean Is

Summer is here once again.
The breeze is warm,
I smell salt on the wind.
The same sandy beach between my toes,
The same waters I learned to swim.
Sun burn on my nose,
To the Ocean I dive in.
I submerse myself in the waters of the Atlantic
Warmer than the West Coast Thankfully
Cold, I simply cannot handle it!
Further out I paddle faithfully,
For my mother ocean to keep me sane,
this is my therapy,
to soothe this migraine.
This place gives me energy,
a weakness with a name.
Pleasure Island, NC.
A place hidden with fortunes
and undiscovered fame.
Never could I stray from the ocean
my passions would never be fulfilled
and I would never be the same.

Dedicated to my Dad on Father's Day 2013
The man who introduced me to the ocean and educated me about it and gave me reason to love appreciate and respect it.

Sea impression

                 Wave a sea softened
and a pain and a tenderness
                   throw dreams in fascination
                   of the blue.
And let shave the waves of
                   Your eternity , oh, weigh
                    above me,
                    oh,weigh a coast of years.
                    Carry far in azure, spiral
                    with bulging little abdomens,
                    flutter with mahagony pinions
and already in vain expect you
                    to stop the scales harbours
with hot flames for You are
Far away, far away ,far away,
                    stretched string,
                    heart and frank await the
                    hymn of June.
All sea sisters are dressed in
                    mother-of-pearl garment
                    embroidered of kiss of
                    In the morning hunts them
                    fishermen and revive with
                    breath of their man’s hands.
                    In the evening girls wash
                    their black tunics,
                    in their blue hearts,
                    their feet white ,who cadge
                    heavy chains.
                    The night is squeezed enigma
                    and ugly,
                    predatory like a bat pecking
                    of scarlet fig.
                    Sea sisters, sea sisters,
                    remember His steps
                    which go through you noiselessly,
                  and ou swing like
                  bloody wine-
                 hold in His fingers Herod,
                 Pilate washes his hands,
                in Yours heirs
               and they bristled like winter
icicles bristles of innoncent blood .
               There at Golgotha
                hearing terrible cry,
                blood gushes like
               wounded river disappear
               like Easter roses,
              in weeds of flushed
     preditory crowd,
     to open way of
     Who is He?
     Do you heard
     His name ?
     He is Messiah,
     God’s anoited
      Jesus Christ.
      Like little sheeps,
      clouds of candy floss,
      they welcome festivaly.
       Barefooted are feet
      of lovely swarthy steps
of the sun, came to bow,
      before You , Creator.
      The sea throws his
       magnificent silver flesh,
      blue like heavently lace,
       to swallow all stars
       only Bethlehem’s
      stays inextinguishable,
       pretty like uncreated
      like an apple of not
      born girl.

Premise of Joy

Joy cannot be raised as though it ride the back of a song.
It is a gift and for that we should laud the giver with praise.
The heart races into overdrive as the mind fills with wonder.
Our physical and vocal constraints suddenly are unbound.
The mind and senses suddenly to a higher plane are lifted
and our reactions no longer seem to need a leap of faith.

When we walk the aisle to say “I do”, we do consider faith.
I seem to recall such feelings of humility, my body in song,
in tune with the lilt of the moment and the suppressed lift,
of the shout building within me. I offer ever lasting praise,
of the promise of one walking to me, to He whom I am bound.
As, in unison, all who watched us say I do, approve in wonder.

They remember their own vows, their own time of wonder.
I remember standing before the observation room in faith,
promising Him that if only this little babe not yet bound
to me, already powerfully making my heart burst to song,
were only normal, I would raise him to give Him all praise.
I loved the smell of baby powder, as the blanket was lifted.

Days at our beach house, a respite which always was a lift,
from the day to day routine of work, was always wonderful.
To be able to walk on the beach and stand in awe and praise,
knowing that the sun would rise and tide would fall in faith,
as the sand dabs hid and the seagulls surround them in song,
the power is in Him Who made the earth and to Him is bound.

One cannot be a true southerner and not be honor bound,
to explore the beauty of the Blue Ridge; to smell the lift
of air rising from the basin gently through long leaf singing,
on the outcrop above, as the eagle circles in wonderment.
Exploring Chimney Rock and crawling through with faith,
the Devil’s Kitchen, giving such surroundings due praise.

How could one possibly contain and not express praise,
for such intricate beauty, surely every man is duty bound
to seek out and enjoy beautiful things which speak of faith,
those simple vibrant things which give life a joyous lift.
We need those things which fill us with so much wonder,
we feel our nerves tingle, our skin crawl, and heart sing.

A Life devoid of giving praise, never feels the spirit lift.
If threads of doubt are bound, life can be filled of wonder.
Life can produce such faith, our being delights in song.

My words are: sing, praise, wonder, bound, lift, faith

Beach Proposal

We went for a walk on the beach
His hand for my hand did reach
Walking together
It seemed like forever
A marriage proposal he did beseech.

He spoke again said you’re squeezing my hand
As my feet felt like led in the sand
I stopped in my track
Felt my smile crack
Then he showed me the wedding band.

I could no longer contain my feeling
Inside I would have hit the ceiling
Of course I said yes
To his great request
And now my heart he is stealing.

I wake on the sand
Right near the beach
You have yet to awake
Far out of reach
And Daybreak has arrived
A beauty unlike any other
Comparable only to us, girl
And how we love each other

So I gaze up alone
Marveling up at the sky
The warmth of the sun
Drying my eyes
I'm reflecting on us
Oh how each other we trust
I'm just so happy we're together
And I think to myself,
Just as this sun, we'll last forever

Then returning to be with you
I lay again now
Place my hand gently
On your warm tender shoulder
While I think of our lives today, love
And how they'll be when we're older...
I know there'd be no other way
So "I Love You" I make sure I say
To you, each and everyday

Six String and A Bonfire

A wonderful party on the beach is over
Memories drifts back to a distant time
Fresh,wild and time controller
Eager to turn our life into a big rhyme

Bonfire,a six-string and electric vibes
The air filled..with dreams and hopes
Equality for all,not like seperate tribes
A hope that we all be treated like folks

Heart of Gold,Neil Young streams out
Another dude, a six-string on his back
Accustic tunes that`s what It was about, everything was right on track

As morning chase the beach party away
Everyday life comes fast as it always do
Maybe the setting was just another cliche
I belive alot from that era came through

Who am I?
Am I defined by what is near in sight?
Am I defined by what I have done,
Or am I defined by what I could become?

Perhaps I'm of no use.
To him, or her, or I, nor you.
Or perhaps I'm too misunderstood to be defined,
And it is something like understanding that comes in time.

And if to the world I'm never shown,
Yet in my own light I've grown and grown,
And so I can know no happiness but my own--
The reason for my smile, to you, will forever be unknown.

I do not pray for the world to know my name.
For it and verse; the letters are the same.
And if a man should find his sorrow in what he reads,
I pray his pain my words to keep.

Should his eyes rain on my page,
Better tears than storms of rage.
And if a man should find his sorrow in what he reads.
I pray his pain my words to keep.

And if to the world you're never shown,
Yet in your own light you've grown and grown,
And so you know no happiness but your own.
Let the reason for your smile, to you, only be known.

Seaside serenity

Simple treasures we have found
(seaweeds, fossils
seashells, crabs)
as we learned to look around

Walking holding hand
(He stopped
and wrote)
I love you in the sand

As the tides began to rise
(He laughed
I cried)
as the words disappeared before our eyes

But simple treasures we have found
(become fossilized
loving memories)
as we learn to look around

The Glass Goddess

All around me
Great cities made of sand.
Green sky scrapers poke through the ground
To thrive in life’s strict conditions
And melt away with the tide…

Great houses made of cards
Form lines, and tightrope walk existence,
Knowing that any moment, the wrong brick may fall
And buckle our world to its knees
As Mother Earth shouts Jenga! from the sidelines.

So while were here
We dance with the Glass Goddess
Poised miles above reality,
Leaping over the heavens on our domino stilts-

We floor it in the sky
Living death in the fast lane,
Seizing the day
Because any moment
We could disappear
