childhood fantasies

i was six and you were nine
you would pack sunlight into a jar
tell me it was mine.

at night it lit my room.

when the stars were out
you'd throw stones to wake me up.

butterfly nets in hand
we'd catch stars from the sky
save them in our pockets.

i'd hand you my water gun
you’d load one at a time
pull the trigger
and yell
"quick wish on a shooting star."

now twenty and more old
i still have the jars
i still own every wish
i uttered silently
on those moonlit eves.

it was you
in my dreams
in my smile

always kind.

i only had one wish
you and i
clad in the innocence
of those times,

of dreams and laughs
i only wished
it would never end,
and your sunshine
safe in my memories
our childhood sealed in those jars.

I Was Young When I Left Home

T'was a splendid night and  I'm feeling
Hopelessly unknown
'Had a good ol' time, just areeling
With stories to be told
Now the paint is running out of the frame
With my pockets emptied of all loose change

I was young when I left home

When the heart is great and the world
Proves itself too small
When a stark ambition arises
If only to fall
The battlefield was left bloody and cold
They all had knives and I came through alone

I was young when I left home

Now I hear your name from the darkness
As I'm walking through the snow
And a pleasant warmth embraces me, seeps
Deep into my bones
There is no pretence in your sweet smile
And I find the strength to go the extra mile

I was young when I left home

The Fight, The Prize And Fate

The Fight, The Prize And Fate

I fought you viciously for my dear life
You that puts dread into long, dark nights
Deep mental cuts were like a sharp knife
Blood gushing forth, horrific sights!

Fought you alone in the midnight hour
Cursed you into deep hell each day
You that cuts down youth's eager flower
Kill all bravely standing in your way!

In the black caverns you cast forth
A chill resides to eat on my bones
Colder than icy wind from the North
Time eating curses uttered in sad tones

Victory over your void I will not gain
For time yields to no earthly power
Yet my fight will remind you yet again
I fought you, fought until the last hour!

While You Sleep

While you sleep I tell you all of the things I keep inside throughout day.
Now that you can hear but not listen I find them much easier to say.
My hopes, my dreams, my fears, and everything in between
Your subconscious hears so keen, or so it seems.
My tongue is soft; I speak so sweetly
Knowing your reaction will never greet me.

Tonight will be different in what I want you to know.
It has everything to do with what I can’t help but show.
I hold no claim to any religion but you’ve given me a place for my faith.
Somewhere it will never stale or lose its lavish taste.
You’ve shown me something I can see, touch, and feel,
And so before it I choose to kneel.

I know I don’t say it but I miss you every day.
Sitting, thinking of the perfect words to be my choice,
Yet when you call I can’t find any of the right words to say.
I’m just happy to finally hear your voice.
Even just a moment is enough to sooth my heavy heart;
Fearing the ends of conversations knowing we’ll have to part.

I’ll never be too far from you, always within arm’s reach,
And in your days of darkness I’ll be the light that you will seek.
I’ll never let you leave too far from me, I’ll stay close behind you in this world;
Secretly protecting what is mine, you will always be my girl.
I only want the best for you so the best of me I will employ.
Faithfully yours, I will always be your boy.

I close my eyes and kiss your soft sweet lips
And see the very best of you in loving bliss.
I see past the physical which makes you attractive
And focus on the things I can’t see in which I’m attracted.
Your thoughts I’d love to hear them all.
Of the things you speak disinterest never makes its call.

My day will come, I know someday I’ll be the only one.
And you I will pursue viciously,
Because I’ve given you the greatest gift I can give, to love unconditionally.
Yes our day will come, I know someday we’ll be as one.
And you I will pursue viciously,
Because I’ve given you the greatest gift I can give… to love unconditionally.

Coming of Age

My eldest brother, nine years old,
Thought he could break a horse.
Our mother strictly forbade him.
A mother’s right of course.
Her young son mustered all his wiles,
Hoping he could sway her.
Unwilling to be defeated,
He vowed to disobey her.

He gathered a rope and bridle,
Went to the big corral.
He was there to break a wild colt,
Three brothers there to yell.
Our youngest brother, four years old
Yelled, “I’ll tell Ma on you
Unless you take me up there
And give me a ride too.”

In his eagerness to hush him,
His big brother agreed
And lifted him to the bare back
Of that big, trembling steed.
Our father came in nick of time
To salvage little brother,
Then watched as his son rode that colt.
No one told our mother.

Forgotten You

Forgotten you
As your mind collects the memories of yesterday
Forgotten You
Epiphanies tie into knotty strings of realization
That very moment. . .
You merely exist

Back then. . .those smiles
Those. . .distant laughs
Some you remember by name
Gone now maybe
Like the exhalation of the wind
Others dispersed in the world of arbitrary happening
Like leaves from falling, man-made trees
There is no doubt that they have
Forgotten you

Activate the bomb
Ignite the fuse
And you’re on next year’s history book
Never forgotten
But drained of all remaining good

That smile you gave
That happiness
The warm embrace so long ago
Salt-coated with piles of rubbish
Over last remaining mental spurts of comfort
Evil, evil, evil, evil, EVIL. . .
Always absorbed and remembered
. . .though never forgiven. . .

All good and gracious sentiments
Packed up in a box set nonchalantly in Downstair’s storage
. . .that chair with the broken leg in the corner of the room
That mangled cobweb holding a dangling, lifeless spider
A drowned sailor’s hat drifting through the current of the ocean
The single tear from a soldier’s vigilant, memory-stricken eye
The frustrating thoughts of a mute
The unchanged. . .HATED deformations

Forgotten you. . .
One soul brings to light weary, unthought-of happenings
Wedged deep into what she can only imagine
With not even a hint of understanding
. . .of the pain. . . .of the bewildering distortions
Of the ugly. . .
One soul merely vomits sickly verse after verse

As humanity embraces its downfall
The poet hangs onto her unjustifiable, forgotten. . .

Cessation the love
Household has been scattered
When love lost

Humming in the community
Malicious gossip in the society
Disorder in the society
Degrading the society
Society has been scattered
When love lost

Humming in the state
Malevolent rumour in the state
As the day chameleon to night
Insomnia in state
State is not at peace
State has been scattered
When love lost

Mystery to nation
When love lost

Oh! It is a dream
Why do we stop loving
When love exist
Love is above all existent

sweats and sweet

Life has its side not fair at all
To till the earth and break rocks
To make our nest with claws of hulk
To try our best and fit the world
No time to rest but just to work
We know no guest who wants to knock
The fruits we heist we can’t seem to pluck
But leave the rest in the hands of luck

I once saw the side so fair to me
Opened so wide opportunities I meet
On beds of roses I pose to eat
My joy didn’t hide to share my tweets
I sure did ride on iron as feet
And were seemed hard with ease I hit
The hides are now mild to feet my teeth
If I hadn’t tried, I wouldn’t know how sweet

This is me

My knees were the things that
kept me up and my skin is my
cutting board my eyes are the
rain clouds to the fire running
down my arms and my heart is
the fire place that keeps me
burning so calm

I am a bag of flesh and soul.
I am a figment of young and old.
I am a body of love and lust.
I am neither found nor lost.

I am A mix of cold and warmth.
I am a reflection of light and darkness.
I am a slight of linger and touch.
I am an apprentice and a master.

I am a mold of perfection and Flaws.
I am a Race of black and white.
I am a shroud of mystery and simplicity.
I am a produce of day and night.

I am a moment of confusion and clarity.
I am an agent of envy and admiration.
I am a mad man cladded in sanity.
I am a man of Justice and Corruption.

I am evolution and extinction.
I am he who shall emerge and extinguish.
I am a pillar of the life that glitters distinction.
I am a man in many for all to relinquish.

Bio in Short

It's been a good run
To the back side of sixty,
The short side of time.

First Hollywood kiss
Behind a pink crepe myrtle.
Thanks, Patsy Werner.

High school was okay.
Didn't help me to focus;
So, my mind wandered.

Surfed Bonzai Pipeline,
Big waves break into lava.
What made me do it?

Vietnam jungles.
I wondered why I was there.
America lost.

Smoking pot. Stereo.
Good fun in the seventies.
Psychedelics too.

And three wives later,
I finally found true love.
We're still together.

My destitute heart,
Saved by the sweetest angel.
I love you, Sandy.

Sooners are my team.
Most winning football program
In the Modern Era.

I am retired now.
But I have plenty to do.
Golf, primarily.

I've been writing more.
Perhaps I will write a book.
I have many tales.

I'd chase young girls; but,
Girls with a "grampa" fetish
Are so hard to find.

If I am lucky,
I will just drop dead one day.
With my peace of mind.

Yes, made a good run
To the back side of sixty,
The short side of time.

Happiness in a Wrong way

Happiness in a Wrong way – Zamreen Zarook

In the notion of seeking happiness,
I thought of stepping in to nonsense,
I dream I could find success,
But I had only little access.

Every attempt that I lend,
It was an utter failure at the end,
My life was full of difficult bend,
But God is always there as a good friend.

My deeds travel in various ways,
Some times in subways,
Or in times it goes in highways,
But I had the belief, God is there always.

North and south families surrounded,
East and west friends are rounded,
Every time fear on death soughed,
I am trapped, and my merits are loaded.

Space Age

            Space Age
Ships float up forever out
Pilots who once sailed seas find new spirit
Airborne crafts fill the air
Children grow into machines that take them away
Earth was once their only home
And now the universe in endless boundaries is theirs
Geared up for foreign playgrounds, gone in an instant
Eternity is only minutes away and just beginning there

I am a dreamer
A dreamer to own a bicycle but never got one
I am still a dreamer
I am a dreamer
A dreamer who wanted to play a set of small pieces of plastic toy-soldier
But I can’t afford to buy one
But I got the hand-amputated one
I picked it up in a canal of mud

I am still a dreamer
I am a dreamer who loves to play “sigung”
Because this is the only piece to play
And a toy that is easy for me to avail
I am still a dreamer

I am still a dreamer
I am a dreamer who wanted to have a car
But I got tank in my ancestor’s homeland
I am still a dreamer
I am a dreamer to finish a degree
This is which everyone wanted to get a job
But I need to go abroad to be professional slave

I am still a dreamer
I am dreamer to own a shop for a bicycle
For me to give gift to the one needs it
But cannot afford like to buy like me before
I am still a dreamer even without owning a bicycle before
Until today I am still a dreamer

I only owned myself who was created by the mercy of God
That until today I am still a dreamer
I am a dreamer, and still a dreamer until today
I am still a dreamer, Tausug dreamer
That one day, as a dreamer my dream would become true!

If only dreams had wings,
I would be where I had wanted to be.
If only shadows don't stray so far off;
My destiny assured would bring me peace of minds

If only dreams had wings,
I'd have met my man from Tokyo by now
If the roses still blooms, tended less;
Less worries that I will for so long plough

If only dreams had wings,
Low grounds will my feet fear
If money had meant no value at all;
Off every luxury should my feet wear
If only dreams had wings,
There will be those bright lights;
Very eager to blind me into void's air-tights
If dreams had wings,
I would definitely be flying by now
And right now

Mastering My Life

The day was short and I was tall,
oops, got that backwards after my fall,
for I was mixed up and worried, befuddled I say
on this brand new morning in the month of May.
I set out like a flash and look what I saw
not much as you may point and guffaw
as without my glasses I followed my assets
like a dog with a tail but with far less facets--
my nose may quiver but I sniff far less
the reason I’m off as you might obsess
is the cleanliness rule is so often boohoo
so boring and dreary, I’m afraid someone may sue
me for the dust in the corners or tiny feet
who confront me and scurry as fleet as may skeet.
Ah, there they are, hanging around my neck!
Glasses sure make the world look like heck.
You see it and flee it as bold as one may
for look, it’s quite beautiful and sunny this day.
So I quaff one diet coke and with nerves prepared
I step out to take battle on the weeds I shared
for weeks on end with the neighborhood slough.
One must give back with fulsome ado dues.
Don’t you agree? I always agree it saves need to flee!
Why do you nod and sneeze like a bee?
Ah, the weeds, yes, let me clamber down there
And pull out tufts and Beware! The dirt I must share!
How does one deal with a face full of dirt,
why wipe it and the sweat on my new clean shirt.
Why not? It shows you’re living to the limit of full
and one certainly can quit when the cull is at lull.
Yes, a bucket is enough to start this week
because groan, my knees feel done in and weak.
So I shall water the flower beds sometime
after I watch the clouds float and unwind...
Did I pay the bills? Oh, yes indeed, I think yes.
Help me out, dear, don’t let me guess.
Okay, okay, here’s the hoe, I go check...
Yawn, wow, I did too much, I must hit the deck
rest in my easy chair and button my games
turning my head I fall asleep without blame.
Until I wake with a sputter and the phone cranky
making noise so much it must be hanky panky
And so after I groan, moan, and drink another diet coke
I set down to work on whatever I remember of the bloke
who once taught me about the drinking arcade
with buzzers and blowers and hints of life with no aid
and tell his tale with not much ado or PU
because keyboard tapping is easier than the loo,
or the weeds or the awake or the find of glasses.
Yes, I suggest, give me honor of many masses
to help with my head now lonesome for pills--
I will be finishing up by making a new will.

A poem wrote by me, based on Person who is a deserving icon but still struggling hard with his career life and addressed as disturbed creature.

DISTURBED CREATURE--> Am I ??       BY Mrs.Madhavi Suyog Pagare

Am I so insane, Am I so mad,
Dramatic mood of mine is so die hard.
Destroyed my peace, Shattering my dreams,
People call me as disturbed creature.
As like mounting the pain, attenuating the drain!!

Digesting my feelings lying inside me,
Strangely nobody cared, call me sick.
Teasing me lavishly and my heart is pricked,
Hurted me like hell when addressed me as stupid.
As like showering rain, missing on the lane!!

Time lapse in journey of life,
Can hamper anybody on its path.
When I see innate reflex of mine,
I always use to brightly shine.
Though possessing every job attributes of mine,
I never thought the authorities will ditch and hamper my career line.
Falsely acting bloody swine, making my image as fade as wine.
As like affecting harmonious divine, my soul was, as is transparently pristine!!

Destroying me and testing my patience, Never wanna give up.
Transformed deviations, wanna rightly screw up.
I wanna raise up, I wanna shake up.
I wanna wake up, Tranquilize my mind.
Unzip the professional life compressed by the culprits.
Wanna explore myself, driving the motivated heights of journey.
Lastly waiting for the optimistic opportunity.
Cuffing the suspect ,I wanna rejoice by my pattern of life!!

with Suyog Pagare

Return Of Your King

Reflections of imperfections have shown me a way that I can move mountains through my power of faith even though I can't see him I know he is real through the power of prayer and a Love that I feel It's growing inside me like a flower in bloom shall I reveal my powers or is it too soon I am reading the signs through my darkness I find a reason for belief in the light of mankind that I know shall overcome the greatest of odds the Love I seek amazes me especially through the flaws because now I am inspired through the hero's that bring my throne through the darkness on which I return on as your King.

The Righteousness Of Love

Love is a wonder shared by one another it's the only reason I'm not six feet under Love in which I believe in a will to sustain I give back to life, now in dormant states of pain The power of Love may not alone be enough locked inside my dreams escape only from above higher than any human being has ever gone before I must have evolved rise above hate, great once more My Father taught me wisdom I am imprisoned no longer now an beast not of burden I am no lion, I am stronger on my shoulder sits twin dragons long awaiting the day evil forces come forth to take what Love is left, away A Hero of Love light are what the world needs angels, not demons exist where ever you believe follow your heart's direction and you shall achieve objects of affection rid of materialistic greed My bright energy has awakened to a fire never consuming the source as the flames just grow higher that is the desire of a product we call Love Fear, the counterpart what I was once made of I am slowly learning how to win when my peace is harder to sharpen so I have given my pen leave the sword has its uses I must say I believe to vanquish the evil in the minds too diseased to serve any purpose except their own selfish ones tomorrow a new day in the clarity of the sun where we two are now one and one done now does bring about a great change lit by the righteousness of Love.

A Mother's Love

For nine months I carried you beneath my heart
Felt you growing and moveing, feeling such Joy
Eagerly awiating your arrival, knowing you will soon
The day you were born was filled with happiness
As I held you in wonder, my little miracle, my little babe
Counting toes and fingers, seeing your little face
Love just bursting from my heart as I just gazed
I watched you grow in time, first smile, first tooth
Crawling, walking then running, always curious
Holding your hand walikng you to school on the first day
Taught you to ride a bike, picked you up when you fell
Kissing the hurt away, just to see you smile that pretty smile
Seeing you grow and mature, into a young adult
Starting high school, learning to drive, dating
Now here it is juinor year, one more year and your gone
To test your wings, to fly away and learn even more new things
I hope my love is enough to guide you on your way
To give you that sense you can do anything you set out to do
Always remember that I love you and you are my little one

Bug Destiny

          Bug Destiny

Round tiny bug moves slow along the garden path
Avoiding traffic as it trudges along
Carries the hardened armor of its ancestry
Down there too, through the centuries
The weight of that nobility
With it, on its back, through history
Portals of time laid out in its direction
Its lineage developed skills for battles
In darkened bitter caves
With aging somber rocks in far off lands
And along the seasoned shores
Over millions and billions of years

Ants search day and night for this small creature
Little round bugs are a staple on their menu
They will not rest until
This morsel is served up in honor of their queen
Solo insect as black as death
Stands by in armor ready

Ants take their forces onward against the drop of day
Their tiny march relentless, endless and grave
Black bug hunkers down in his encasing
Waiting In case bad things should happen
And to survive another day
The army attacks
Storms in on solo bug in stark surprise
With concise incisions ready
Sharp mandibles set to dissect it on the spot
Little bug has one last trick
It tastes of sour and stinky feet
The ants retreat defeated

Round bug makes its rounds about the garden gate
In its cultivated aged defense makes it to another day
Future generations will praise this day
That kept their kind alive
Depriving queen ant of a nasty meal
Of destinies surprise

Journey To The Calm

            Journey To The Calm

People populated in the millions, then came billions
A collective sound pounds in the head relentlessly
The ruckus became too much
As lands filled up with every kind of thing

There, waiting for trumpets to awaken the transformation
To answer questions never posed
Sun turned up to circulate the news about the truth
Moon too gave way to rotate around this matter

That; empty space is inherently cold, void and without voice
From it, science and technology burst forth
Matter inevitably takes its course
Building on the forces of the past, a matter of creation

There came complexities to make us whole
Thousands of machines with noises whirring loud
Cogs and gears whipped into a frenzied speed
Turmoil followed developments departure

Gravity became the enemy, could not hold on, to either side
The Plenum filled in the emptiness, a cacophony of noise
All things from atoms to large particles delighted
To occupy the holes that once were empty

As more things arrive, with void subsiding, at rapid pace
Then, in a sudden change in growth
Objects and machines decreased in numbers in the realm
Declined, abated, subtracted on a dime

The noise was deafening as the emptiness set in
Then! Just as it had started, it all came to an end
The air turned still and solid from surrounding boundaries
To collectively gather back from where it came

Follow nature quietly into a silent grave
To fill in what was forgot and what was not
Every day new energy had evolved at a rapid pace
Filled in the empty parts of space

Trillions turned into billions, into hundreds, into tens and then no more
People went away as well
Not one person left upon a throne or chair
To stare out to the wonderment once there

Now the sound of meditation cannot be heard
Not one single syllable or word
Utter silence appears in great abundance
And with it more emptiness abounds… evolving into calm

Who Am I

Who am I?
Question indeed!

  W-eaned from tender
age,in noble family of ten.
  H-urt by the demise of
the tube that brought
me into this theater of
struggles and pains.
  O-rdered about by the
whimps of this
world,facing the hurdles
of life daily from
cradle,never giving up
  A-fine young man of 28
I am,who has the
experience and wisdom
of the aged.
  M-astering the arts of
life-learning from lessons
of life's victims and
didactic poems 'cos man
of fame I intend to be for
I bear the name Bob.

I-lost my poetic gift at a
stage but recovered it in
poetrysoup for invisible
entities say a
lesser being I shall be,but
another encourages me
to move on,for great is
one who comes out of
the shackles of life
undeterred for this is who
I am.

A message of love

A message of love

Love it be the sweetest thing
I have found this out
I didn’t always know this though
It’s sweetness I did doubt
I never, ever gave, just took
As I treated you like a slave
I do not want much in this world
But forgiveness I do crave

I was the product of my dad
Who treated mum this way
That was what they taught me then
So when it came, my day
To marry you, my sweetest one
I thought that’s what men did
But now my angel listen well
Can’t keep my feelings hid…

I now know love so very well
It’s not the way I thought
Crazy feelings all the time
All that stuff comes to naught
For this, it cannot last forever
But true love really does
And Lord it’s such a wondrous thing
Though it don’t cause much fuss

It’s in those little things we do
As each day comes along
It’s about that old togetherness
That hold folks oh, so strong
It’s such a joy, but one can’t see
Like he does, when he is old
That love grows sweeter every day
Though the life force grows more, cold.

The Door is Always Open

Things get bad, then they get good again.
You can write yourself angry.
You can write yourself sick.
But never
should you write yourself sorry.

The world, to me, is many things:
A canvas, a movie, a place to store
everything you are and will ever be,
but never a bell jar.

As long as your hands can shake
and your voice can quiver,
never close the door.

Love the ground under your feet,
and your only sadness
will be that a blanket of sky
can't keep off the cold.

Smile with every breath you take,
and you'll realize that,
no matter how much you weep,
you will never fill an ocean.

Look inside your heart:
There's answer there.
You'll find,
deep in an oblivion of night,
there is a light somewhere.

It may not be much light,
but it's brighter than darkness.
Follow it.

If you seek, you will find
yourself always involved in
and as long as that door never closes,
whatever something will be enough.

I promise.

Push Up

i could sit here. day in and day out
thinking of the most proper way
to let the ink in the pen spill out
but as of late im feeling prehistoric
so much weight on my shoulders
and i dont know where to go
resuscitate my soul
look back up and head to the goal

so much evil around. i feel like the devils workin double shifts just to bring me down.
on the road to redemption
you can take a seat up in the front section
just so you can feel the emotions
in this electric notion

i've done a lot of things that hide the halo
let it all collaborate when i medicate
now look at me, mind workin like plato
formulate a new path to take so i can
maneuver through all the mistakes
we all know we cant change what we've already made
but we can change the next thing we create
startin to sound like a serenity prayer
5 steps till im thirty
and the twenty four before i was never a player
found out when the lights came back on im strictly a lover
its the strongest drink for your soul, when its thirsty
so careful how much you intake or be left hungover
even worse be the one she ran over

i dont mean to come off like im too deep
but the obstacles made there way through just to scrape through
and leave me suffocating
just for me to re-invent a new way to breathe, re-decorating

is your life so complicated
you rather wet up your pillows and revoke from the life you live
just think of your kids mourning
theyll never see that pretty face in the morning any more
cheer your self up
you got a lot to live for
your a gem and im that friend
trynna appraise the value
that you dont see inside of you

just another day for him
goin about
searchin wonderin what his purpose is
running in circles
till he found a way through all the turbulence

Pursue celebrity
Across the sea,... stadium. And dread
For hints.

Just an attempt...

Cold, Flexible Steel

A serial of haikus, all addressing the same topic with
a hint of humor; but advice that could save your life
or that of a loved one. New to PoetrySoup, so I hope
I'm not "out of order" with this submission or topic.

Cold, flexible steel
Probing my dignity...

This “simple” exam
“…could prevent cancer.” they say.

We all have to die,
But not from colon cancer.

There's a downside tho’.
“Yuk! That, nasty brown liquid.”

“But boy, does it work...
Work and work and work some more.

Baring your buttocks...
In a fetal position;

“No polyps", they say.
There are no malignancies.

Your colon’s okay.
It’s five years until your next...

Want some peace of mind?
Insurance may pay for it.

One “simple” exam
Can provide that peace of mind.

You might save your life.
Over 45? Do it!

Cold, flexible steel.
On the other hand, what if…
Something else kills you?

The morning

It is a quiet day of the atmosphere,
staying at the position of the universe,
covering of the cloud, sun, moon & star.
Thundering like as torm of death.
With a great shower of blessing.
Morning is the blesseth day of the lord,
The career of life and behavior,
The day of mercy, joy & peace.
It is a time of relaxing and enjoyment.
The living cock of the day.
Morning is the paradise of monument;
The east move from the west,
The north turn to the south,
They all assemble together,
Of the morning showers.
Morning is health, it is really so?
Heaven shall show doors of your blessing.
The day is bright,
Keep calm?
