Leaf

Floating down with grace and ease
Carried off by the Autumn breeze
Rich in hues of orange and red
Landing in the flower bed

What once was buzzing full of life
Now succumbs to the pruning knife
Staring up at the wilted rose
Another season comes to close

Looking for memories of this day
Not forgetting her fun filled stay
Lying amongst the rocks and sticks
I'm the one the little girl picks

Hurries home with the one she took
Placing it in her poetry book

A Night At The Desolate Harbor

The ship in the habor on silvery seas Lay vacant outspread 'neath the glassy moon Drifting in cold whispers of the night Like a drunk man shriveled on clasping knees In the loud echoes of the crawling winds The brave ship nods its old head Restless on the empty stage of the bay When lonely stars bleed their light On what was once earthly sublimity Now silence and haunt lingers there A graveyard of bones and sadness Beside the desolate harbor Rustling in the cold distance Laboring with a haunting melody That invades me in shivers of night. Sadness defeats The happy spaces of my mind Then your sweet kiss would descend Oh... your sweet kiss would descend As a fragrant memory Thawing the pain In the frost of my heart. My soul beckons your presence But silence became my loyal friend And Emptiness - The sorrowing of my hours That slithers through the night As the brave ship nods its old head Crackling and desolate In silvered breaking waters 'Neath moon's limpid eyes My hands descend With crimson buds of April's flowers To rest upon your tomb Of eternal silence.
''Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.''

A Memo As You Go

In four days from today
I wish you well as you go, and you shall walk again
Through the shadow of the day
Where memory forever my spirit keep in chain
And you shall inhale once more
Jasmines naked and dancing to the silver moon
Or hear whispering for sure
The tides that salt us that unwrinkled June
And I shall be far away
Praying as I always pray, waiting your return
To mend broken gaps of day
While among the yellow leaves I walk and yearn

Do not forget me, dearest
Do not with moon or river wander far away
But on pillow of your breast
Give me my rest, give me my hope to play
For bird songs there I know rise
Like angels vestal choir, or sirens seductive song
May bring the heart new surprise
Against all witchery there, keep your love strong
Walk by lignum vitae bloom
Cradle the blue mountain misty morning shape
Tremble at its thunder boom
And toss your cares across the bright sunlit landscape

There is healing in that place
A certain balm, and invigorating freedom there
An edible sense of grace
So delicious to those who walk with feet bare
Like children before the change
And yet for all the beauty and the music I keep
Another memory strange
The place where in my arms a princess fell asleep
The place where your kiss became
The elixir for which kings and heroes search and died
Where first the stag was made tame
No other beauty there may so my joy provide.

The Place that Shaped Me

  I left my
  heart in
 a magical
  place. A
  place that
  holds years
 of wonder and
 awe. A place that
 knows me better
 than any other place
  I’ve been. This place
  has changed me and
     molded me into the
       person I am now.
     The forests, trees, creeks,
    and open skies instilled in
me a love for God’s works.
The harshness of the winters has
taught me to be patient and to endure. My small
town is where I  learned the  small-town work  ethic;
you don’t get what you don’t earn and earning what
you want takes a little bit of sweat and tears. Here
I learned that you don’t have to be blood to be
family. Brothers and sisters are made throughout
years of school together. We relied on each other to
be happy. This place will forever hold my heart and
soul. I am a small town girl through and through.
It’s who I will always be. Forever. Thanks IDAHO
for shaping me into something more than I was.

Moments In Time

The sweetest sounds of burning trees
A gentle stroking in the breeze
The calm has lasted past the storm
Cloudy visions, Satan’s roar
Too many sights have passed my way
A time found only in the haze
The softest screams are running bare
My aching bones creak as I stare

You walk a distance towards me
The fall’s eternal, can’t you see?
I’m a memory in your heart
I whisper to you in the dark

The battle’s started at the end
No one is coming to repent
The sinners grab their wine from prey
No judgment calling here to stay
The sport is reckless to be told
The one is laughing at his souls
It falters nowhere to be sure
The power grows forevermore
Like a spirit in the wind
I have no say in where you’ve been
But cross the line to come to me
And pay the price for ecstasy

You walk a distance towards me
The fall’s eternal, can’t you see?
I’m a memory in your heart
I whisper to you in the dark.

Groundswell Girl - Named by JB

Enter a storybook tale
Where I can be
The heroine you hail
Lucid dreams of soft reflection
A touch heated with lust and desired protection
A breathe a gasp as we succeed
Join the fairytale with me
Valiant night within dark eyes
the right movement and I make them shine
like moonlight on the steamy hot spring
care to follow for a little dip with me
Trailing like the water at my fingertips
Grasp me around my hips
As close as the breeze on my skin
Whisper lies as I let you in
Lips mumbling up my thighs
bare heart exposed to the sky
fire burning in my veins
Am I a mistress of this lust or simply a slave
Trembling with desire
Take me till we've lost count of the hours
enter this storybook tale
Where I can be the heroine you hail

Who Am I

A new photograph floats to the surface
Playfully dressing up as the world around me
Hat, striped socks and all
Tiptoeing at the top for one last sweet moment
Before sinking back into my ocean mind.

One after another they arrive
Single file,
Steeping my eyes in the world
As the minds shutter, ever fluttering
Strings together this conscious stream I play in.

My photographs fade in time’s wrinkled arms.
Joining their brothers and sisters at the ocean floor,
They hold hands and try to answer the question that is always asking itself:
Who am I?

Free as the wind Ode to native American Indians

Oh how I wish
I could set free
the native American Indian
with pride and dignity
taking them back
across the great open plains
to their sacred home
in the lush green vallies
where buffalo are plentiful
and roam
so the Indians can live in peace
one with nature once more
where the eagles soar
setting them free as the wind
wild untameable as a magnificent stallion
running toward the setting sun.

OVER THE TRANQUIL PLACE WHERE LOVE SUDDENLY GREW

Over the tranquil place where love suddenly grew,
night carved the tender image of two souls breathing together,
to delight themselves until the sky turned dark blue;
we watched the stars come much closer and get brighter.

Night carved the tender image of two souls breathing together,
and it united them with deep passion and a solemn promise;
we watched the stars come much closer and get brighter,
we pondered the new mystery...so distant was the sunrise.

And it united them with deep passion and a solemn promise
as a memory which can't be easily erased or even forgotten,
we pondered the new mystery...so distant was the sunrise;
in awe we stood, while we could no longer see the horizon.

As a memory that can't be easily erased or even forgotten,
our minds remembered the tenderness of each hug and kiss;
in awe we stood, while we could no longer see the horizon...
the nightingales came to listen and learn words of sweetness.

Our minds remembered the tenderness of each hug and kiss,
to delight themselves until the sky turned dark blue;
the nightingales came to listen and learn words of sweetness...
over the tranquil place where love suddenly grew.

That Girl

Everyone thinks they know that girl. At
least they think they do.
You know that girl that makes everyone
laugh, and is a class clown. Who used
to be a star athlete. And had everything
going for her.
Yeah that girl that everyone thinks they
know
She became homeless at the age of 16
due to a house fire.
Yeah that girl everyone thinks they
know
Yet that girl is still laughing away and
making everyone laugh, but isn't the
same inside, No, Something inside of
her changed they way she felt.
Yeah that girl everyone thinks they
know
She became mentally ill, she was
diagnosed with major depression and
bipolar disorder. She was always under
medication, so you never knew what
side of her you where going to get.
Yeah that girl everyone thinks they
know
No one knew how much she hated
hearing sirens go off, or how she
couldn't stand seeing fire trucks. She
struggled living her life daily.
Yeah that girl everyone thinks they
know
She lost her closes friends cause she
shut them out and nearly lost them all.
Yeah that girl everyone thinks they
know
From what I hear it's been 3 years
since the fire and that girl is barely
getting her sight of her future back.
Yeah that girl everyone thinks they
know
She is talking to her lost friends again,
but just isn't the same for her, so she
has to make new ones. Which means
she has no one.
Yeah that girl everyone thinks they
know
She is happier now and is looking
forward to graduating and moving on
from this chapter of her life and letting
go.
How do I know so much of her?, well
"that girl" is me.Yeah that girl that
everyone thought they knew.
But im fine now. Sure I have my
downfalls, but I still get up and smile.
THAT GIRL IS ME, I AM THAT GIRL.

The Autumn Affect

There's something unspecific about the autumn nights
A certain shade of color that uplifts my inner child's eyes
Beside a cashmere moon Venus and Jupiter shine bright
Complimented by a sea of blinking infinite twilight
The scent of burning oak lingers in the air from home made fires
Reminiscent of a time when this man was just a child
Careless and so free to dream and any dream to live
Like feathers floating across a field carried by the wind
As a gentle breeze blows through the leaves shivering delightful gloom
Unlike flowers of springtime the disheveled autumn vibrance bloom
Leaves crackle beneath my feet along the skeleton tree path
Where I try to find my peace or a song to make me laugh
The air is so much crisper and also soothing when I breathe it in
Underneath a starry sky and brighter constellations of Heaven
Amidst the trail I pass a lovely couple holding hands
While their children run aside frolicking in a playful dance
An old man and his wife admire the view from a wooden bench
With smiles on their face as if nostalgia is still their closest friend
Its these specific autumn affects that bring me sorrows and joy
Reminding me of all theses things Ive wanted as a man since I was a little boy
Its times like these that I wish I wasn't always so alone
Because I would light an fire with my family and call it home

Self PORTRAIT

I will start with using my hand as a guide
And in the end I will open my eyes that I will decide

I consider to do this with one thing in mind
I will close my eyes and will imagine it blind
With no colors or fractionation of the light
Just plain me and a vision with my hand as my sight

My hair is very coarse and some what fine
What I just described is so benign
I twirl my hair and make it bend
And I will say its very clean not oily on the ends

As I press on my forehead I simply feel a distinct part
I notice from hair to skin it is very different from the start
The simple partings from hair not like skin
I am going to feel with my other hand and begin

The smoothness of my skin like years of water eroding a rough rock surface smooth
Not just that my skin is like home to years of stories like scars and attitude
And when I raise my eyebrows the wrinkles it makes is more so for expression
I did not notice it with certain ideas, thoughts, and emotions

I run my hands down to my eyelids I feel movement of my eyes trying to peek
Eyelids that I have, vibrates with some kind of fear, Why?, that I will seek
Just now as I thought about it a sensation ran through my brain
My eyes is the world to me and that is true and not insane

Myself portrait of me is through my touch for now
But to finish it I will have to open my eyes soon and how
I been in a trance full of so many ideas just with my eyes closed
I run my hand on my nose and lips and I smile who could apposed

The feelings in the tip of my fingers rub on my chin and jaw with care
I do notice roughness of unshaved velcro gripping hair
I skip my ears so I will sneak a feel with my fingers I chose
I notice it is like my nose with cartilage, so I don't suppose

I will now open my eyes that I will use a mirror to see myself
My head is oval shape and my neck is like a stump, please help
My skin is very tan and my eyes are brown with my eyes I see
With all the description with my hands, one sure thing is the same and key

It is the description of measurements that is what my hands and eyes can see me
With a smile I am looking into the mirror and I can describe that I am happy
Myself portrait of me is such a way to get to know myself once more
I will never think it was a waste of time or a bore

On nights like this

Half of the world is asleep

And black bellied clouds rest upon the mountains

Sending rain to punish my roof

While heaven complains against the ebony night

Shadows dark as evil sprawl beneath the trees

And lovers laugh, dodging puddles as they run

Gutters gush, gargling the torrent

As half of the world is asleep on rumpled beds

While creatures watch from boughs and burrows

The sycamore slumps beneath the storm

Where a hawk is stranded on a sheltered limb

And streams and brooks boast beyond their bends

The scene is solemn beyond the window

Where rivulets slide, blending into each other like lovers

A glaring bolt slides over the peaks, through the clouds

And the clouds complain about it a moment after

As half of the world is asleep, but not me

I have too much forgetting to do about nights like this

Only in You

Through the lonely woods, I may head,

Upon the autumn leaves, I may tread,

At the secluded horizon, I may stare,

And only you, I may see,

In those symphonies of silence,

In those melodies of calmness,

In those euphonies of quietness.

By the silent lake, I may lay,

Till the twilight fades, I may stay,

Then in reclusive silence, I may walk,

And only to you, I may talk,

Through those toungueless emotions,

Through those wordless attachments,

Through those voiceless sentiments.

In the lone meadow, I may wander,

Along the untrodden paths, I may waver,

In companionless seclusion, I may hide,

And only in you, I may find,

The depths of oneness,

The bonds of togetherness,

The cozy feel of coalescence.

In the wilderness of emotions, I may die,

At the merciless daggering, I may sigh,

Through a million wounds, I may bleed,

And only in you, I may seek,

The balm of love,

The warmth of affection,

The heal of inseparability.

The Rain and Wind

The wind blew events all over the place.
Intense emotions and it gave chase.
Lightning lighting to show us the sky.
People try to sleep and not cry.
Wisping by the wind keeps us awake.
The time trying to sleep the storms take.
Chills in everyone gives all shiver.
The clouds surrounded by moonlight is silver.
Heavenly prayers that the rain will stop.
The flood stopped a car the person in it was a cop.
People have seen such devastation.
The road that people made was week in creation.
Rivers near by was over flowing.
Trees that were there was not showing.
By the hour it claimed many.
My father woke up and did not see any.
Floating by was a boat.
Keeping people above water and a float.
My father kept a canoe.
That some day we would use it, that he knew.
Time to paddle up and down the street.
The rain water kept getting on our seat.
It was so dark after the moon was behind the cloud.
Still the noise of thunder still covered the ears loud.
The smell of moist water never seem to go away.
My brothers seem to still sleep anyway.
My head was bobbing up and down.
I was so tired that I could not hear a sound.
The wind blew back and fourth.
It seems that my mom and dad paddle their worth.
Till all the people we saw with grace.
Help us out with embrace.
The time was so late at night.
Everyone was so sleepy and losing sight.
The fight with the weather was so hectic.
The feelings of energy was electric.
Losing to such natural disaster is hard to understand.
When people working hard to block the river with bags of sand.
With hard workers like my mom and dad.
They make things happen that is not bad.
Rough with weather they experience more than ever.
Leaders they are they are very clever.
From the night light of street lights to the morning glow.
The wind did not stop so.
Bringing in more clouds that ill.
The people who were still tired still had will.
The rush of water and waves blasting push the wall side.
Pushing and the force brought water inside.
The battle of our hour was getting long.
Backup people came to aid us was strong.
Rested they were to keep everyone with hope.
The people stopped the water with the strength of rope.
Heavy rain and loss of homes bring people together.
It is kind of sad that this was the only time to gather.
Chaos comes happiness how true.
This is why we are human that gives us a clue.
It is our nature to keep rain falling.
To know when it is time for our calling.
The winds bring such pain and sorrow.
That is why rain sometimes fallow.

The Ghost I Knew

Can I catch you
Can you stay?
Forests at wood
There we play
A gentle hand
That fixed the dress
Brushing tears back
Saving stress
I can not bare
The oaken wave
Only memories
Can I save
I miss your hair
And what it covered
More than a mind
God knows I loved her
The ghost I knew
She rests away
I can not catch you
You can not stay.

Beside me

The night of the fallen, the fall in the deep
I wake up exploring my thoughts in my sleep
I shake up believing it all was a game
Taking me under an ocean of rain

You stand there beside me to ease up the pain
Without you it's all just adventure to gain
A proud face- the star leading me on my path
Shining, to give me the strength of your light

In order are finally all priorities set
Happiness, joy from the world to get
Go, fight, become whoever you want,
Your dreams are all yet to be found...

The Fountain Garden

Amid the flowers ever blooming, ever fragrant,
Amid the stone pathways edged with brick,
Amid the gravel I peacefully walk over,
Hearing the slight crunch beneath my feet,
Here lies color upon color of hanging baskets and garden trims.
Here lie bushes of color to draw me in.
Cooler air and peaceful, beauty surrounds me like a cocoon.
And amid this a fountain of gentle beauty I do not wish to leave soon.
A fountain that totally greets my senses.
The running of water, the bubbling and tumbling over stone.
I feel the peaceful sounds deep and close inside.
A bench begs me- “Stop. Rest your weary soul. Feel the peaceful sound.”
Here the songs of birds do greet me as they eat from feeders above and
Drink from the fountains below.
Their colored plumage and delicate flight adding to the beauty bestowed.
Other fountains with gurgling water entice me from place to place.
What beautiful shapes and designs do I anticipate to be next?
Beside what peaceful flow of water will I next seek my rest?
I linger and forget my travails as I mentally rest.
In this shadowed and cool garden I linger to hear sounds and see sights
Never to forget.
As I continue the journey an occasional bench begs my senses- to stop again.
Feel the peace. See what is here.
Some fountains have hidden treasures to espy.
Statuary nymphs and frogs peak quietly from gentle foliage nearby.
I beg to know what animals traverse here in peace within this world.
My mind begs me to write words to describe such delights.
I am enveloped in a feast before, behind, and surrounding my senses.
A trellis begs my attention in lush smells sent to my nose.
A trellis of color and unusual design to add to my prose.
A water sprite beckons my indulgence to notice her again.
Finally the tumbling of water sends me forward to a new treat,
Begging of my senses the new treasures for to eat.
Each a joy to behold. Each adding to my wish to never leave.
Eventually the world will again bend me to my knees.
But a moment I have gained of beauty to behold.
A memory to take in my sojourn, as my life unfolds.
Memories that can bring me back to this peaceful place in my mind.
Though only a moment, I have gained something precious to behold.
I now carry within a pocket of my mind- a memory to bring me back to
The Fountain Garden.

Memories On Branches

An old board and a rope had made me a swing,
Sitting there when I was around the age of nine,
I curiously looked up to see the first sign of spring,
Where a robin was building a nest of twigs entwined.

Summer's heat burned my shoulders, so I sought shade,
I climbed up into your strong arms at the age of fourteen,
Along with a book, I relaxed in a solitude no one could invade,
I found myself lost within the pages and the leaves of green.

On a lazy, autumn afternoon, at the age of twenty-three,
I raked the dead leaves that buried my feet into a pile,
Through the orange limbs my black cat peered down at me,
Then leapt from the tree to play among the leaves for awhile.

Now, as I am rapidly approaching the age of thirty-one,
Branches are encased in ice, as winter continues to unfold,
From my window, I see the cardinals and the disappearing sun,
Reminding me that life still survives in the bitter cold.

Inevitable Bear

Oh lonely Inevitable Bear,
Padding claws, death in white
Sorrow in recurring nightmare
Instinct’s test; fight or flight?

Camouflage against the fence,
A challenge; my subconscious fear
Ominous slowly moving silence,
“Let me in, there’s a bear out here!”

A Departing Memory

I know you.
Candles lit, incense fuming,
You like it when I bite your neck, just hard enough.
Blankets thrown about the room
So recklessly, they refold themselves.

And we roll down a hill together,
Kissing the leaves, tickling with our eyes,
Laughing with our hearts.
"You'll just leave me for the next girl you find."
"Yes," I say. Because only
Nothing
Lasts forever.
And it spills through the cracks in your hands
The moment you grasp it.
Like water from a stone.
She bites my neck
Drawing lines of ecstasy down my back with her fingernails
Spilling into me, fighting my words.
"I leave when the sun sets."

Spirituals and Drums

My ancestors walking in the night
using oil lights and moonlight for guides
while being instructed to Wade in the Water
to camouflage their scents like disguise

The Sweet Chariot awaited
so they could ride away
Harriet was a soldier
and it wasn't an option to be caught during the day
That's the same mentality Nat Turner had when he sang
Steal Away

They would follow the drinking gourd
so all were in accord to go north
The Gospel Train was coming
and at the end of the journey
was a fine reward
Freedom was coming
and it was a long time coming and
they walked until they heard freedom bells ringing
and I still hear their tired footsteps running

Thinking of My Darling Nelly Gray
Stolen from my arms a random September day
and eliminated our chances to run away together
No family ties, no love, no strength says the oppressor

Then I hear the drums beat in the darkness
giving me the hope of finally being free
Maybe I'll follow them this time on faith
on bended knee
There must be a place for me among the light
of this darkness
Among oppression, thieves, evil-doers
no thought on their conscience

Thank goodness for the safe houses that
supported our traveled distances
and for the conductors who bore witnesses
and may God have mercy on the souls who
were against this
and on those who chose to forget this sh@!

I still hear crying in quilts of safety
because I know that the burden was heavy
to be at the mercy of nature and patrol men
catching run-away slaves for money
Some did it bare feet with freedom ahead of this
loved induced journey and they made it
So all that bull about how your life is hard
just stuff it in an envelope and save it

Philosophical Poetry Week: Transient Tuesday

I am a misprint,
Ink blot on love,
I remain a maybe
Longing for fact,
No speck of lint,
A hand in glove.
Thunder; a baby
Will only react

When you etch
Parallel clouds,
Whistling on cue
To a dead town.
Dream a sketch
Of silent crowds
Becoming you,
This boiling crown

Chews thought
Into flagellation.
Holes in the walls
To spy through,
Seeking a sort
Of bricked-up sun.
A heaven of halls,
All leaving you.

My Wishes are Simple

My Wishes are Simple

My wishes are simple,
my desires few,

to gaze upon an ocean,
and marvel at a solitary drop of dew.

My wishes are simple,
my dreams not too grand,

to feel the waves teasing my tired feet,
with no footprints left in the cool, wet sand.

My wishes are simple,
my thoughts serenely gentle, calm,

my heart resting beneath a swaying palm,

healing my being, caressed by nature's soothing balm.

Withered Sentiments

The petals rains on me,
Smothering the blemishes on my skin.
An idyllic red bleeds to a crimson shade,
And my heart feels it once more,
Withered by my sentiments.

In the midst of reds and yellows,
Hands held out in a field of shadows.
Swirling in the echoes of a laughter,
Running away,
Chasing for the scent of a rose.

They said a prayer would stop the pricking,
Should I choose to hold on to a rose.
To embrace a memory made of thorns,
To linger on the pathway of forlorn,
And enjoy the moment of my fall.

But, a piano starts to resound in the heart,
And a tone of darkness blends in with the lies.
Its taunting melody sings of him,
While his memory turned its back on me,
The withering rose starts to cry alone.

What’s left of me is lost in you,
But I can’t find you.

The Canvas of Night

The Canvas of Night

Stars like sprinkled sugar,
lay strewn across the canvas of night,

enthralled by the wonder of the cosmos,
my dreams take to the heavens in effervescent flight,

I bathe in the beauty, soaked in sublime delight,
absorbed in moments of bliss, transfixed by the serene sight.

Stars like sprinkled sugar,
lay strewn across the canvas of night,

and my being is infused with feelings of hope,

for even in darkness I find the sprinkled sugar of hope's light.

ONE WILL DREAM
ONE DAY WILL SHARE DREAMS
ONE DAY WILL SING
ONE DAY WILL SING TOGETHER
ONE DAY WILL WALK
ONE DAY WILL WALK TOGETHER
ONE DAY WILL HAVE MEMORIES
ONE DAY WILL HAVE MEMORIES TOGETHER
ONE DAY WILL SMILE
ONE DAY WILL SMILE TOGETHER
ONE DAY WILL ASK
ONE DAY WILL WONDER
ONE DAY WILL TALK
ONE DAY THEY WONT LISTEN
*BUT I HAVE ONE QUESTION*!!!!!IF YOU WERE TO SLEEP TONIGHT AND NEVER WAKE UP WOULD YOU BE PROUD OF WHO YOU BECAME ,WHO YOU WERE,WHAT YOU HAVE DONE TILL THAT MOMENT ??CAUSE IF NOT YOU MUST WAKE UP FROM YOUR DREAMS !

The Ibis episode

The Ibis Episode

Today I walked into my garden
To give our dog attention
{Now he’s a dog so big and strong
I guess this I should mention}
And then my eyes, rested upon
This bird, a sacred Ibis
Which made me worry quite a bit
Cause my pond was filled with fish.

This big birds strutted round the place
He could not seem to fly
But I knew that if my Boy caught him
The poor bird well might die
So I was in a quandary
As to what I well might do
So I put the dog into the house
So I could think thing s through

I walked up to the mulberry tree
{He was perched upon a limb}
And I really got quite close to him
And softly spoke to him
He didn’t seem to mind at all
But then, he flew away
It seems he wasn’t hurt at all
Which really made my day.

The Garden

The night air is cool and collective,
Running through my hair and face.
Even when I’m with people, I feel alone
In this cold blooded space.

It’s like walking through a garden
Of all your favorite foods,
But none of which can substantiate
For that one so special mood…

That mood,
that beautiful frame of mind.
I only go there with you,
And only you can make it unwind.

I discovered a passion unlike any other
And in my finding I opened a world,
A world I did not know existed.
I’m on cloud nine every time I think of you,
Just the thought of you brings joy to my heart.

This garden holds many beautiful things
Many delightful pleasures,
Many cold nights,
Warm nights,
Difficult frights,
Ecstatic times and unsystematic times!

But they mean nothing to me,
While I’m alone…

Walk with me through this garden.

Africa III

Heart pounding
Nervous feeling
Overwhelming
Deep breath to shake it
Cold chill slivers down fast

Beating against cage of heart
Cage of body
Cage of soul
Legs begging to run
Heart aching to be free
Truth to self
aching to be seen

Sweet scent of dry savannah plains
Sharp smell of thorny veins
The aroma of Africa surrounds
Scents sights sounds
In these home is found

Frustration mounts
Captured leopard
Bound

Snarling at every motion made
Scared but defiant
Blinded by fear and rage

Paws long for endless journeys
On paths walked centuries ago
For elegance in element
A space all her own
Where earth still bleeds red on horizon
Morning and night
Continuing the endless fight

Fight for borderless freedom
Everlasting sight
The pale yellow green eyes
Dismays the truth inside
But tell the story
Of wild soul
Story to unfold

Difficult Trials -Part 2-

Turn the wheel
*******he sea...
Push aside the misery...
The abominable agony...
Endure this hardship...with me
Fight off the tears and let us roam to sea
Don't make it hard for me
To determine the waters

We are the same kind
If you can be so KIND, let me show you your destiny -
To dwell with me in tranquility

We will try to share our responsibilities...
Take turns and share our possibilities...

How have you been?
Sorry we have shut our ears
To your deafening cries
I'm turning the wheel for you
You're losing energy...be still - why are you so blue?

I'll shut out the feeling of anguish

You'll get what you wish

We will start anew
We will start on a fresh start
We will fulfill our dreams and make them come true
We'll brew away the sadness
I'm determined to eliminate
The distress... swallowing us like a tidal wave...
Behave, you wild childlike waters!! Behave!

Don't worry - we'll get rid of
The limited happiness
And make our heart pump with merriness
Don't be a magnet of depression stress

You'll experience a wonderful opportunity
So you may feel at one with
Our world full of possibilities
And eliminate those cruel, wretched words
That tore apart our responsibilities...
Our activities... our reveries... our possibilities...
That brought us back together

We'll be hiking
These somewhat difficult hardships together

Freedom Remembered

In a zoo in a strange land
a zebra stands
flaunting the bright stripes
 of a collective band
against the russett tussle of leaves
that exit trees before a cold wind.

He is far from the windswept plain
of his dreams; that parched place
where drought adapted trees wane,
until at last renewed by rain,
an over-night fantasy of growth
 glides greenly,
quicker than evening-tide.

Here, where Autumn has a strange glow,
bare trees, steal the dapple from his coat.
Knee deep in a pile of red leaves
he yields the life blood of his soul,
flowing from a freedom remembered

In Lost Time

I write to you my self,
Sending you myself
With words that I long for you
Need you and care about you
Hope you, miss you, and want
To share my heart, my life
With you, all these written
On a piece of paper
Capsule in time, in a bottle
On the way to you
Somewhere some time
You shall get it.
Floating across
The seven seas
In lost time…

A Blue Boy's Death Wish

A fragile mind breaks
Wake upon the rock laden shores
A muffled heart begs to echo
Whispers lost among a velvet chamber

Dusk comes premature time and again
Dropping the curtain on an optimistic sunrise
If you never witness dawn
There is no tomorrow

Always the dreamer aches
Never awake to make real what he desires
The restless corpse walks blind
Dead ends seem fitting for one of the kind

Lost in the labyrinth of strangling vines
Love is the motive and the weapon
Taking root in throats dry from weeping
Sprouts of amnesia in place of smiles
A garden called heartbreak holds onlookers captive
The comfort takes hold, sets in the bones weary of searching
A plea for rest lands on deaf ears

The hollow boy tires of himself
The last request he will ever make
"End me"
Lost and tired
He wishes to be weak no more

Moon

Might I ask about what the moon means to you?
It means the world revolves in a transcending path with a satellite.
Why does the moon shine in the midnight sky?
It shines because it is a guide between the world of the dead and the living.

So does the moon fill the air with hope?
The moon itself is hope for people.
Why does the moon pull us in with such soul searching?
It is because we feel that the moon is part of our every day life.

Children who asks these questions; I have strive to tell them some truth,
And for the adults out there I created a little Moon lite poem to sooth.

So the moon is our light in the darkest hour of the night
With romance in the air that is so bright
We all hold hands once in a moonlit walk
And with such passion we would talk
The moon gives us our pull on each others heart
With a dinner that we take part
The ritual of wooing ones heart is a great feeling of love
The moon is always there to shine right above
In time we think we are blinded by the moon
But to tell you the truth it reflects the sun light during midnight noon
It gives out a warmth in the darkness
We probably do not think of it less
Because the moon is our memories of our past
It shows it everyday and night and always last

Ambrosia

Surely to know the ambrosial quiver
Of stiffened fruit, ripe and swollen
With stolen fragrance and lovely flush
Of seeded solvent all down a furtive face
And up the greedy pink arms of cloud-ward reaching children

Is to know also the jealous rain
Her green glances gorge on mellow delight
Indulgent and impatient with quick eyes
Snatching strokes of waxy flesh
Torrid caress under an austere guise of gray
She is a lean and idle glutton
Who lashes in strife with quickness and lusty strikes

It will be a feast of soul
If you do not slay her first

Emotional Hole

I did not find myself to be so important
So I ask my friends do I seem distant?
When I ask the question I had received an answer, Yes
So I think that made it clear that I had been not the best
I am a friend of a friend that talks so many things
That friend talks to much it is insane and insanity it brings
I do care, about my friends they are all good people
They tend to stand on their high steeple
Today I find myself not so aware
Disbanding my fear of regret and care
Walking many different paths I see that I have found holes
It is the path that people choose to use to fuel their rage with coals
Coals are partially burnt wood or fossils a piece of fuel
It is the source of burden and fire a rage of emotions that stands cruel
It can be warm and caring, but it also can be baring
I just start to feel so low, below the ground I keep on staring
I reach for my friends so many times I feel so ignorant at times
Just once I feel I should not rely on them when feeling I can not find
I dig my hole deeper and I can not climb out
For some reason I am just full of doubt
I care about so many things and what I have is confusion
One person should be all I should think about to get out of that illusion
My battle in my heart and mind is not at all so pleasant
I feel so alone in an island that is shaped like a crescent
My emotions is like coinciding with a diameter of the semicircle
Not a full emotion that is complete like a circle
My feelings is circular full of incomplete thoughts, so much deeper
I feel it will wake up my evil half a evil soul that is a sleeper
What question should I ask myself? to believe that I am not so alone
As I feel like a person who is deteriorating to the bone
I ask my friends the same question once again
I figure I should do it, to know what kind of feelings I should end
So many thoughts that come out of my feeling
I feel like my friends take, an emotional trauma of stealing
They ask me questions and I answer theirs
But when I need mine answered I feel burning inside like a flare
Are they even friends when they do not take me serious in anyway
Just put me in my hole cause I feel nothing in their will be getting in my way
It's just so simple to answer someones problem
I answer friends with beauty of a rose, but when they answer mine I get the stem
I know the stem is very important in life, with out it how can a rose be a rose
With a hole to put the root and stem in how can it grow
The words we speak I guess is like all natural things we reap and sow

Purgatory Chasm

The autumn leaves crinkle beneath my feet
Their radiant colors dulled
I see the reds and yellows as vibrant as they were
The last time we came here together.

I hold you in my hands,
The way you held me when I was a child.
Your urn jostles softly as I scale the cliff
To our favorite spot.

I open it up, and look at you one last time.
Bits of bone sprinkled in the ash,
Like the time we came here after the first snow fall,
The defiant leaves of abundant autumn
Refusing to be masked by light dusting.

Off the tip of the rock,
I turn the urn,
You flow out over our favorite hike,
As you would have wanted.
We pass through this trail
One last time.

Rainy Day Memories - contest

The fine rain is falling
filling my nostrils will melancholy
remembering family days,
walking the country lanes,
the perfume of honeysuckle heavy in the air
besides the freshnesss of hay and mown grass

Looking across the valley
where Mamgu would be waving
a tea towel from the cottage door.
A signal to tell us lunch will be ready in half hour
quickening our footsteps we cross fields
climb stiles to be home on time.

This is holidaying in West Wales
Where purity still raises its head
Where a fine shower brings out the nuances of nature
to install in our memories
So that a rainy day brings us back
to happy carefree family times.

To nature, to the family, to memories.
The pitter patter of rain supplies all of these emotions.

Surprise Spider Lilies

Sheer fine batiste settles in the hollow
Like a ghostly creature who at night roams
Longs to float over dewdrops who follow
'Til sun's rays bring the hearse and funeral home

Surprise Spider Lilies blossoms' stand straight
A reminder of mother's few flowers
Ones she planted then she's have to wait
For those soft spring showers to empower

Down where the rain lilies now blossom
Without any soft rain 'pon the garden
Where death of summer's flowers a problem
And elderly who live there death certain

Will there linger any flowers alive
In memory of life's beauty abide

Dreams and Memories Afield

 Dreams and Memories Afield

Distantly dreaming of my wild and brazen younger years

Memories of pleasant days hunting in forests dark and deep

When thrills of getting completely lost held no fears

Of fantastic chases across rushing streams , over hills so steep

Sent delightful images of quickly shooting wild game to eat

The delicious taste of nature's gifts of lean red meat

Garnered by sweat of the brow and blast of the gun

Skinned and carried home before the setting Sun

O' the beautiful memories that one seldom ever forgets

Of living, pain and joy, small little pleasures that life often begets

Nature gives so many blessings that we fail to hear or see

The beauty of flowers, singing of birds and shade of mighty oak tree.

Rev My Throttle

As last rose of summer opens wider
Night is drawing nigh, rose cutter in hand
The rose clipped in its best stage; placed in cider
Jar that was used up, cleaned_now it will stand

Jar of cider was enjoyed long ago
Remember that day on our honeymoon
You were so young with raven hair my beau
We found that road side stand that afternoon

Bought that jug of cider that was so cold
Refreshing after long ride around mountain
So eager for life that we would build_hold
Hold each other_life; wanting to obtain

I clip that rose_place in memory bottle
One memory revs my motor throttle

The Sieve of Time

The Sieve of Time

Cast ashore,
along the banks of time,

whirling through the passing years,
clinging to my futile scribbles set in rhyme,

Cast ashore,
thrust into an unrehearsed pantomime,

clenching slivers of joy as weariness descends,
lulled into a peaceful slumber exhilaratingly sublime.

Cast ashore,
hazily adrift, a dandelion seed on the wings of time,

trapped in the sieve of spiralling memories,
caught between pristine bliss, and reeking slime.

Cast ashore,
flung aside for no discernible crime,

my human heart thuds with elusive hope,
though battered, bruised, and covered in grime,

I stagger ashore,

alone,

embracing each moment of detached, oblivious time.

Distant African Nights

Those Distant African Nights...

1.

The shadows swayed in your candlelit room,

a cool breeze teasing your bare back,

streaks of lightning forked in the Johannesburg night,

as my hands stroked your hair,

kissing your soft mouth,

holding you,

ever so tight.

2.

You whispered that you loved me,

and I kept silent,

the rain fell,
shadows danced,
thunder rolled,

the breeze teased your naked back,

you whispered that you loved me,
as my lips found yours,

the rain washed over our tender nights,

lightning and candlelight,

etching poems on your burnished skin,

yet,

a fear gnawed at me,

deep within.

3.

We parted ways,
and you could never forgive me, you said,

now, after numberless thunderstorms,

the rain that falls,

echo the countless tears that I have shed.

4.

You are long gone,

far away,

happy, I pray,

yet the memories persist,

those precious moments shall never,
ever,

like the Jo'burg rains,
trickle away,

and I wish you well,
for loving me as you did,

for it was I who was not worthy,

then,

and it is I who is not worthy,

now...

5.

You were always true,

it was I who always,

always,

refused to,

to give myself,

completely to you.

Our Divine Haven

This town was the place we used to call our haven
You don’t remember which road we’ve driven on
The stars were shining against your cherished soul
You’re a part of my belongings
You’re ascending above the ground
The peace is still like hidden treasure – it’s bound to be found

I believe in you…I put my faith in you
After the miracles you’ve performed
You don’t agree with what you truly are
The sky is grieving
You jump from puddle to puddle
You’re struggling to meet your destiny
Even if your body is saturated in sweat
You must keep your head above the sea

Follow me and I’ll lead you to divine haven
Forgive the past that embraces you with remorse and think upon our jubilant future
It’s tempting to just give up and turn around
I could tell you've been stressing out
But rest your head on my shoulders and let loose your strain on me

Each melody is an exquisite sound that bounces into our ears
Commotion and strife will cease and your heart will be free
We’ll flee together…despite the unwholesome weather
The voyage has just begun…hold my hand and we’ll rise like the sun
Trust me…we will be strengthened and well-equipped before we take that road of victory

Follow me and I’ll lead you to divine haven
Forgive the past that embraces you with remorse and think upon our jubilant future
It’s tempting to just give up and turn around
You’d rather be drifting away and never be seen again
I wanna change your mind and erase your frown
Take your mind off of the distressful past
Let loose your strain on me

Hey! I know you’re stronger than you realize
You’re not a failure – don’t be disheartened
Don’t worry…you and I will earn our future prize
This mess will clear up in a moment
Just stay by my side and never depart
From the light… I promise that we’ll endure till the end
Just stay nearby and our hope won’t tear apart
We are willing to do anything to attain our wishes and delight
Let’s take action and snatch our glory before our time is up

Follow me and I’ll lead you to divine haven
Forgive the past that embraces you with remorse and think upon our jubilant future
It’s tempting to just give up and turn around
You've been trying to keep a steady pace
But rest your head on my shoulders and let loose your strain on me

Let loose your stress on me…
Don’t be under pressure
Let me handle your anxiety…
Reach towards our divine haven
Do you need a helping hand?

I wish you a carefree
Future

The Sittee River

The Sittee River

Tumbling down from the magnificent Maya Mountains,
The rabid Sittee River rushed headlong,
Over-flooding its banks and the giant mangroves
On its long journey to the open Caribbean Sea.
Once forest green, the River’s color was now a dirty brown.
Hundreds of floating logs all rafted and chained together
Like creeping caterpillars lined up on a dead leaf.
These lumbering mahogany logs, once majestic living trees
Would be transformed mostly into polished furniture.

Attention captured by this rambling rapidly roving River,
As a child I sat at my window wondering,
What other dark secrets did this wandering River hold?
Could it reveal the life of the ancient Mayas, other civilizations, or more?
I may never know.
Today the old beautiful River is clear and bitingly cold,
Keenly listening –
Vigilantly watching -
Waiting for new adventures to unfold!

Note:
As a child, I grew up in the Sittee River Village in Central America, and this is
one of my earliest memories of the River.

Great Lone Tree, So Beautiful

Great Lone Tree, So Beautiful

Great lone tree standing in the middle of Harper's lot
weathering all attacks from so many enemies it has got
Struck eleven times by lightning in as many years
last one burned so hot that sap burst forth like tears!

First plague was ten thousand locusts eating it's fruits
next came grub worms devouring it's sweet tender roots
After that first fire came burning high above it's trunk
then came the woodpeckers pecking out chunk by chunk!

Next the teenage boys driving in nails for a playhouse
adding to the big holes bored so deeply by a wood mouse
Second fire burned it's trunk until hard rain put it out
followed by six years of county's hottest, longest drought

Great lone tree had weathered so many terrible attacks
insects gnawing ever deeper it's long and deep cracks
These many years it gave it's fruit and comforting shade
it's life beaten but that majestic beauty never did fade

Great lone tree stood reaching ever upward to Mother Sky
enduring all while so stubbornly refusing to ever die!

Robert Lindley 06-10- 2014..
Rewrite from the late 70's. Based on the huge mulberry tree
in vacant field just behind our house.. So beautiful but one
could see the many scars it had endured yet still survived!
I used to pick the mulberrys in the bountiful years!
Mother would make cobbler from them and it was glorious

Time

If yesterday is gone and tomorrow yet awaits,

then is today just an illusion,

in time and space my mind creates,

If all my memories are recalled

from past and different times,

is it me that I am thinking of,

or of someone who occupied my mind,

If in the future I have plans to fix,

these obstacles that are in my midst,

How can I in the here and now,

when tomorrow does not yet exist,

If now is everchanging,

steadily sweeping future into the past,

then is time just but an illusion,

and I an actor in it,s cast.

ECHOES OF THE HEART

A teenager's wish couldn't be granted,
it was unfairly and abruptly silenced
by fate when that heart's fervent voice loved to sing;
what it sought was joyful days of a perennial spring!

The flight over a calm sea and a windy ocean was fearful and long...
I felt extreme sadness exploding inside: departing from a lovely town
with verdant trees and grassy hills illuminated by the nascent dawn;
did I feel any joy entering a city with skyscrapers chocked by smog?

In any yearning heart, memory cuts down the distance set by miles
when Motherland reminds it of its stars creating a twinkling spectacle...
that's when echoing words evoke something too vivid and incredible;
and assuming I never grew up, I run and catch those pretty fireflies.

The moonlight fugitive

Short gasps of air whirl through a burning throat,
still her legs defy the exhaustion in desperation.
Behind her trail phantoms of memories afloat
upon a sea of desertion.

Beneath a canopy of constellation
she finds herself lost in time.
The forest unfolds before her like a revelation.
An apocalyptic bell sounds one chime.

It won’t be long before a mistake is irreversible.
Every turn is just another minute to live.
The last road taken proves an ironic circle.
Sinking between the waves that created her, rests the moonlight fugitive.

Respect Comes with Age

My father and my mother sat me down one day
to tell me how wonderful that I was growing O.K.
The years passes by as I got to be a teenager
with high hopes of becoming the first young manager
Life turns out a manager job is not for me
so I kept things to a minimum working hard you see
My family had taught me with all do respect
the life we lead is the image of our age in an aspect
Like queens and kings we bow our head
to the people who is wiser in age even when dead
Life as our guide the time we have aged
is what we leave behind that we are gaged
In prospective we are the stars and we are the earth
because we age and leave behind a new birth
To those that seek such blessing of heart
remember this age is respect for living from the start
Do you remember your father, mother, and teachers
they are the ones cheering you on, sitting on those bleachers

Mora Piya Ghar Aaya - My Beloved Has Returned Home

Mora Piya Ghar Aaya (My Beloved Has Returned Home)

Autumn:

the leaves fell, as you left, a bleak chill wafting across the barren space within my being,
you left, taking your smile and mine,
my smile rests with you still, leaving a void impossible to fill.

Winter:

pangs of longing consumed me, my only company in the frigid nights,
my tears remain frozen, within,
unable to fall from my broken eyes, as I searched the depths of the cold, harsh skies.

Spring:

birds returned home, though you did not, and I felt soothing rebirth all around,
memories of you began blazing, their embers stoked,
and at last the tears rolled, like ink on this blank notebook, my whole being pined for you, my very self in anguish silently shook.

Summer:

alive I felt again, the promise of the coming cooling rain, easing the heat of desire,
yet the furnace slowly raged inside, your absence tearing into me, shattering my nights, my longing for you soaring unfettered across the skies,
dancing on clouds, blissfully free,

Monsoons:

heaven itself opened, the deluge an unending dream,
rain falling all around, mingling with my flowing tears,
and then I saw you, you returned, and I embraced you, never wishing to let you go,
and though I may wear the mask of the clown,
if you were to leave again,
my very soul, would quietly slip away, and in the monsoon rains, I would gratefully drown.

Fragment

On through the ripples,
Through the shunts and the brushes,
The flickering chants,
The whispered gloom.
I walked, in a still coldness,
Watching in through the firm, glass panes
Of this pavement I made.
There stood three evil eyes
Perched high with a burning, solemn glare
Clad in black.

I stood with living numbness,
Drowned in the rain;
Exempt from their shelter
But Separate from their cave.

My walk was long,
Soon I saw the clouds part;
I gazed, perhaps glided into the blue depth.
The soulful reflection painted within the bay-shaped sapphire,
Too long had I ignored myself…
Depicting a girl, content in her smile
But mirrored by her counterpart.
I suddenly became aware
How rain and sun fall from the same sky.

The hush of the oak branches,
Passing through the park;
Reminded of the ease of empty summers;
Where my eyes couldn't reach the gate.

I turned a corner to the child’s trumpet,
Hollow with smiles
The off and empty notes
Passed right through me.
Was she, blissfully lost to her tune,
Or lost in the dissection of each note?
Lost in the mimicking of each line?
Lost, so that in the process, the bigger meaning faded.

This world holds its breath
In a struggle.
I step alone,
Across stone and soft earth,
Between kindled mirth:
In this summer losing its youth.
This day, this deep
Meander of thought,
Where I looked at the world to find myself.

Then I was laughing at my difference.

Here is the number to my door,
To The World beyond.

In Walyunga

In Walyunga

There is a place I used to go
When I was fit and strong
The place it was called Walyunga
And I felt I did belong
In those hills above the river
I’d walk for countless miles
In those days, with healthy body
To walk, it was my style.

I’d walk until I found my place
Where there lived an old dead tree
I’d sit on it to meditate
And look right into me.
Some times as I walked these hills
I’d hear a sound like thunder
And then I’d see a wondrous sight
In this place called Walyunga.

A horde of Kangaroos would come
As they thundered through those hills
They’d cross the track in front of me
And I would stand stock still
Then as they passed, the biggest guy
Would stop just yards from me
To see if I did pose a danger
He was a sight to see.

He’d stand there for a tiny while
Though it seemed like eons to me
Then when he saw I meant no harm
He satisfied would be
So he’d bound off to lead his horde
To the river they’d head for
Oh, seeing such a magic sight
Would fill me with such awe.

Country Home Memories

Once I lived
down Ayrshire way
in the countryside
I did stay

Breathe in air so fresh
watching all before my eye
thinking back to these days
makes one think of the sky

Looking above to the clouds
our eyes seem so blind
but to dream of above
bring my youth to my mind

Then life seems so simple
without the struggles of adulthood
fears seemed then so far away
life then was so good

Then we walked across grass
picking up a bramble or two
watching cows and sheep grazing away
there was nothing else to do!

Port of Call

Port of Call

Barefoot on a talcum beach,

alone, not lonely,

with the breath of the ocean a caressing balm,
soothing pained memories away,
to the swaying of a solitary palm.

Barefoot on a talcum beach,

alone, not lonely,

feeling the brushing away of all past turmoil,
on a quest for solace, ever so hard to find,
yet comforted by the crashing of the waves,
as the tide cleanses all pain,
and leaves despair far, far behind.

Barefoot on a talcum beach,

alone, not lonely,

drenched in a sea-breeze of mist,
that hushes the ache of bygone moons,
tasting the salty tang on my lips,
as the burnished sun,
over the distant horizon,
swoons,

and dips.

Barefoot on a talcum beach,

alone, not lonely,

searching, ever searching,
for a slice of solitude,
as memory bids a final adieu,
reaching under the sea so vast,
and seeking comfort in the depths,
while embracing,
the tomorrows to come,
wishing that they be true.

Barefoot on a talcum beach,

alone, not lonely,

seeing my truths drown,
as they slip beneath the turquoise waters,

feeling my heart ablaze,
with a passion that rarely falters.

Barefoot on a talcum beach,

alone, not lonely,

yet knowing that I am home at long last,
wishing the waves would wash away,
the defences that once stood,
like an impregnable wall.

Barefoot on a talcum beach,

alone, not lonely,

I have found, at long last,

my final port of call.

Saturday Rain in Johannesburg

Saturday Rain in Johannesburg…

…With sighs of torrential passion,
the heavens shower teardrops,

weeping with me,
as memories of you come cascading back,

skin on skin, ablaze,
moist kisses, fiery,
gentle whispers of undying love, murmured,

in another life, another time,

far removed from my present, a desolate state of despair,
wallowing in the grime.

…

The rain keeps falling,
each teardrop stinging my face,

tasting the salt on my lips,

I wonder, do you still remember the caresses of my fingertips,

between breathy confessions, and vows of eternal love,

before you left me, stranded on an island of solitude,

wounded as a wingless dove,

bereft of life,
stripped of all traces of fortitude

Faith Healer

The odor is intolerable
Like a foul beast clinging to the end
I can barely subdue its subterfuge
But here I am,
I’m standing here of sound and mind
Waiting for the time that answers my own questions

Can it race with the fires of Orc?
Doubtful, but it can jog steadily can’t it?
The weather is awful, filled with sounds
Penetrating a document not written
It pains me to fight through the night
Not because it’s dark, but because I am just a shadow.

Lester drives but
Motional lasts forever
Still driving
Still crying
And slowly dying as time waves on
Like oceans that can’t be seen.

Nobody cares and everyone listens
Ironic, like a bible that holds lies and deception
Can its will be pierced?
Can freedom stay free?
Is it worth it to stay hooked when everyone around
Seeks liberty?

Wolf in the Mist

The darkness sleeping in the hills

   sifts soon with crawling mists,

   a scarf of scarlet horizon....

Framed a furrow of mystic candy,

its manna sweet in the setting sun,

   to eyes soaking soulful, quiet

sudden in the breathe of winds ----

And the trees tease with holes

   in the veil of this hallowed place;

   ancient,

begging some lonely being to notice

   its supple leaving

Its hello shall be brief ----

   like a falling star,

Its goodbye unforgotten,

   like a good lover,

I shall return again ----

like a gray wolf in pink-smoke

(howling under an olden moon)

   I wait in silver shadows....

To spin another moment in the mist

Salamander Oasis

Our ripe minds protrude
Waiting to be ripped-
A signal to leave behind
The excess of all other moments

We allow our fallen tails
Re absorption through the ground
Back into the neverending fervor

Pascal's Dream

Cold crisp air fills me
as I watch the sunrise
radiant reds, purples, and blues
Illuminate the sky

Sitting back sipping my coffee
soaking it in slowly
calm quiet serene
deep mountain morning

If only I had known
this was the last adventure
together we would take
i would have slowed down
smelled the roses a little more
savored it as I should have

Your joints stiff and swollen
taking the lift up
swinging in the breeze
ever so slowly up the mountain

Creeping to the edge
fully mortified leaning
on that rickety fence
posing for pictures

My heart skipping a beat
as we took in the sight
Mist so thick dancing over the peaks
like delicate wraiths
stealing my breath away

Hiking slowly down
blown away as we crossed over
enormous sandstone bridges
creeping to the edge looking down

Out over the river below
capturing the moment
forever sealed arm in arm
ear to ear grins

Through Devils Gulch
step by shaky step
stair by stair, so narrow

revisiting precious moments
so vivid and dear
moments crystal clear

Looking back so bitter sweet
as your mind slips further away
day after day; memory by memory,
tear by tear I watch you fade;
How I wish we could go back,
to that amazing day.

Rainstorm

Drowning in the Maelstrom
Vision blurred grey
Head Bowed
Mouth set unmoved

Two skins wet
Feet aflame
Back broken
Body numb

On the green earth
Between steel topped stone
And a God’s fury
I sit
They sit
We sit

Breath rasps with the steam
Frozen and frying
Dead hands and dying feet
Rest

The sea taps at numb shoulders
Water on stone
Eyes refocus
Still grey

The ocean drips over the brim
A waterfall for weary eyes
The call comes
They Stand
I stand
We stand

Hacking back into the torrent

MY NEIGHBOURHOOD

The road to my backyard is long and straight
Evergreen trees abound and provide welcome shade
Home to myriad birds, butterflies and the bees
Last summer their branches were sawn off, without notice
The orgy with power-saws lasted barely a day
The trees shorn of foliage, the limbless torsos remained
To secure the safety of a VIP on a state visit
To a smog-laden metropolis, labouring hard to breathe

A few years back, we moved house to an oasis of green
But now, the storm of development is relentlessly closing in
Razing and levelling with electric saws and bull dozers
And a host of equipment used by modern day builders
Pile drivers mounted on rigs clump through the day
Unrelenting even at night, when the elusive foxes bay
Grieving in the darkness with plaintive howls
For a vanishing habitat where his endangered kin prowls

They have acquired fish farms and farmland
And even encroached on the protected wetlands
Which naturally dispose tons of city waste
In danger of destruction due to greed and haste
Truckloads of rubble are dumped every day
The pace is frenetic, even in sweltering May
Toiling hard for masters, who’ve deadlines to meet
And citizens to house, from whom votes they’ll seek

A haze of dust now covers construction sites
The pace doesn’t slacken here, even at nights
Construction materials arrive here daily by the truckloads
And given shape by workmen, as planned on drawing boards
What was once green cover and blue sky
Will be concrete monoliths, stretching up very high
With parking lots and asphalt streets
And billboards and neon signs, ready to be leased

No longer will fields of mustard flowers sway sinuously in spring
Nor ripe ears of golden corn bob gently in the wind
The sounds of frogs and crickets are a memory of the past
Songbirds have fled, deprived of their natural habitat
Slowly the memory of winter’s migratory birds will fade
Never again, the razed canopy of green, provide cooling shade
As I walk through my ravaged neighbourhood, I wonder why
Impotent rage pervades through me and I silently cry

Winters Magic Wand

What dreams of beauty or wildest imagination could ever match these wonderful ageless scenes,
Of a fairy tale forest glittering and sparkling in an evergreen mead showing off its silvery pines,
A blue diamond frost bathed in the whitest moonlight, backed by a trillion bright twinkling stars.
The foliage of the trees touched by winter’s magic wand, from an ice queen on a cold January night,

As a boy I saw these nights in the clear sky and it looked like a dome with blue lighted candles,
Reflecting off a frosted carpet that glinted and dazzled sometimes catching a roe deer’s wide eyes
In those long gone days I felt no cold watching a fairy tale wonder of a cold clear, sharp night,
But these moments have misted in my older years, my wiser years, but never completely forgotten.

Speeding to old age wisdom is my gift I was uncluttered and so very much wiser back in those days,
I sometimes try to think hard about my boyhood memory but it needs a clear mind for clear sight,
Taking me back to the meadows in time staring in wonder at those silvery sparkly evergreen trees,
Again I think as a young boy who does not feel the cold, smelling scents from frozen pine needles.

My future is written and I understand why the memory of this night must be so very vivid today,
Because I know when those final moment arrive my eyes gently cloud, and close for the last time,
I will dream a twilight dream between both of my worlds' then soar back upon the winds of time,
To stand again in evergreen woods reliving my moonlit scenes, again still not feeling the cold.

Beyond the nettles,

there is a pond where the water lillies grow
and children weep for their youth,
the silent forces that make the moth
to pebbled thought entombed
in the shifting light of its bed,
and Nowhere is a feeling.

Remember the morning of the bird,
the obscured pane,
where nature died at once, and slowly
even kisses were sharp and revealed
some secret like a moth-wing in a book.

It is here you recall the thing everyone knows,
or pretends to know.

Reminiscences

A time for rest,
a time for enjoyment,
in order to keep our mind at peace,
we venture out,
in search for something quite special indeed,
these are known as memories,
in order to keep these memories as lively as possible,
we tend to travel afar,
finding a number of ways to preserve these,
especially the good ones though,
but elaborating on a number of these would exceed the pages indeed,
so keeping in short,
the travel to the Himalayas,
is what I can think of,
the elegance and the beauty of the place ,
keeps on registering in my mind from time to time,
how I wish to spend my time in there,
but a voice calls me back,
for it’s not yet time to rest in here!!

The Deluge

The Deluge.

finally the deluge

skipping in rhythmic heartbeats
the softly sprinkling rain

hums and lulls and cajoles and comforts
the weary evening

glistening leaves
on beaming trees

blades of grass shimmer
like rough diamonds strewn about

and settling in my heart
is the softly lilting touch
of peace
of truth

of the rain clearing away
the debris of this passing day

Spring Fever

I feel it
The tugging in my bones
Like a young child pulling at my shirt to get attention
That gentle urge to look their way
It whispers in my ears
Left shoulder it sits
Then right
Left right left right
Never quite in view
Tickling like a strand of hair gone awry
It slides across my fingers
Like an itch I can't scratch
The desire to move
When I know I should be absolutely still
I hear it
Like a ringing in my ears
Or a fly buzzing in my ear
The humming of the lights
It calls to me
Mumbling like the dry eyes commercial guy
It longs for me
Like a drought stricken farmer prays for rain
It commands me to dance
Flitting like a butterfly sailing in a windstorm
It burns
Like the fever of a sleepless infant
On and on it screams at me
I am coming
Like a wild cat at midnight
It reaches out to embrace me
Like little ones safe in their mothers arms
Restlessly I wait
For spring

DRAUGHT

Bitter dregs of life's elixir
just enough sweet to bury the bitter
small tastes of what is fine
to keep us going within our time

Love is not a convenient thing
when it disappears the heart does sting
though full does it make everything
when gone sorrow and weeping

ashes to ashes, dust to dust
though bowed low in you I'll trust
you have torn away my shield
naked before you within your field

Oh cherished muse hear my cry
through falls of tears did loved one die
swayed and shaken by what I feel
hills and valleys and waves I reel

accursed is the lot of man
death destroys the golden strand
no resistance even strong here land
the mouth of grave does ever expand

Though I cherish knowledge of the future
currant cuts and pain beneath the suture
the loss and grief of present time
can make a woman lose her mind

All mankind of this chalice drink
It's liquid swallowed on the brink
ingested fluid in each man's hour
against it's draft has no man power

Imprisoned in death are family and friends
and some few have met kinder ends
into tombs and crypt and grave descends
and upon it's bed many confess their sins

Even those having been reborn
will face the coming of it's storm
our souls descended of this family tree
and you oh Jah will hold our memory

Into the dust our lives return
await the future for which we yearn
and sink we do into the maw of death
till times resurrection Son returns our breath

Every nation the memorial tombs do field
in it's demise our truths do yield
and to it's rest are all paths sealed
even those who to the truth have kneeled

Living Through It

I am fine
I will survive
After every time
I live, I will get mad
At you sometimes
You do mind,
I don't get your kind
I will find,
Another way to get signed
To find some other way
To not be in your day
Crawly to find other ways
To be no-where to be found
Running with unsound like a ninja unbound.

Winsome Heather (paradelle)

As the wind tosses winsome heather
As the wind tosses winsome heather
In the currents of an airy sea
In the currents of an airy sea
In the currents of winsome heather
The wind tosses as an airy sea

The senses filled with scent of sweet breeze
The senses filled with scent of sweet breeze
On the wind is sweet flower perfume to tease
On the wind is sweet flower perfume to tease
Sweet scent; on wind is perfume to tease
Senses filled with the flower breeze

Inhale the gust; seize it as a beautiful memory
Inhale the gust; seize it as a beautiful memory
Capture this winsome heather memory forever
Capture this winsome heather memory forever
Inhale the gust; capture a winsome memory

Capture the wind in memory ,
One gust is a perfume tease
This sweet scent of flower inhale, seize
as it tosses winsome heather
on the beautiful  breeze;
Senses filled with the currents of an airy sea forever.

Summer Tale

Daytime,sunshine...crystal clear
burning through clear blue atmosphere
Tanning laserays of light
Ignite solar candled lantern aisles by night

Silent meadows and sheep grazed pastures bare
Summer's yield matching colors grown in pairs
Travelers' eyes steal glimpses of the ancient surreal
Clever celestial timing ,ensures summer's perfect weather

Past summers remembered
My skin sunburned tender
Its old age hastened ,its healing's slow, yet I've patience
Horizon gaze ,wading shallow shore waves
cold and curing,my sunburn tamed
Sand impressions proof of my presence
Vanishes as saltwater tides retreat
Forming rythmic swells, cleansing sand, fine as snow, each grain unique
Potential their essence
Each memory ,an impassionate impression
Resolves imaginitive questions
Sacred memories remain life's essence

An unresisted inclination to explore
its endless trails is ignored
by wiser travelers who retire near crossroad trails
each day's passage, treasured memory for nostalgic tales

Blond sunlight through graying skies pale
Dark as dusk, sunlight's cloaked in an expanding veil
As distant thunder grew near, cooling air held an odor of ionized rain
As electrical glimmers lit skies dark as eve which shadowed verdant plains

Camera eyes skygazing dusk to morn
Canvas skylight's color transformed
Night darkness followed ,silence filled this vast woods hollow
Heaven's light shone pale through eve's black veil
Pearl moonbeams and crystal starlight invite
Passage through dark meadow trails
An ancient summer tale ,
Eyes photographed evenings past

As morning passed
Harsh molten light shone through thinning cloud mass
Burning fine white sand ,each grain...fire glass

Verdant flowerfields ,summer's pretty yield
Camera eyes steal as autumn's shades are revealed

After a While

When a person is abnormal,
And his decision after a while,
Compels him to ask for excuse.
He can’t claim he has a right decision,

A decision reminds a person always,
Humiliation, degration and repents,
It seems himself he is flowing,
In a guilt trap without any notice.

Conscious never spares a person,
When a person is physically powerful,
He lives to pressurise his memories,
When body falls weaken, memory gets sharp.

In the olden days when a fault,
Becomes a memory, most of people,
Become physically disable,
And lay down unconscious over months.

Until their memory is active,
They never die, they suffer,
For their wrongs in olden days,
A mind never deletes a person’s wrong.
