Pass the Light House

~ CALYPSO ~

Odyssey of the open ocean
Eclipsing the performance of Heaven's delight
A beautiful name whispered along the night
Calypso, enhanced with enchanted lullabies
Sweet silver streams, dreamy epic diamond dreams
Serendipity falls in like mist, under the majestic marble moonlight
Calypso, you belong to;
--Sunsets of the secret sea.
Mysterious-- many precious places to go,
Calypso -free flowing, floating legend!
Ride the beastliness breeze above the sea
Whisper, Calypso come for me!
Beautiful Comforting, Calypso Carry me!

Reflections easily deliquesce into thin air
Sedating the open waters -Voyage- view
Visionary Vessel above liquid level,
as divine in spirits she sails.
CA-LYP-SOO-- Nymph Nature Name
Aquatic of belief-----------------------
CALYPSO, the journey of all journey's
For all eternity-------------------------

New Road

In a new road,
Rain will fall,
Wind may blow,
Swifting our woe.

The road forever on and on,
Many paths to choose,
Many paths to take,
Home behind,
World ahead...

Through the shadows,
Through the night,
Clouds going by,
There we will lie,
Very deep,
Seeing shivered land,
Seeing the dead seas...

Through the edge,
Miles to go,
Singing by,
Darkness rising,
Vanishing light,
Hollow flourishing,
Going by,
World ahead,
Home behind...

Rain may fall,
Through the nightfall,
Through the twilight,
Through the dusk,
Through the dawn,
Beyond mountains,
Beyond stones,
Standing strong,
Wandering lost,
World ahead,
Home behing,
Paths on and on,
'Till the road comes along...

I AM LIVING

It is the old man from the threefold of life
To whom I have taken control on this
But the poet whatever
The cause should be
The one who must walk
Along the concept
For which beauty fades from
Measure of apparent
Size of naturalistic explanations
Regardless how rich your heart is
And none of us is able pass through.

It is the poet who is living
Psychologically into this burrow of guesses
And paradises within him
With reflection and with correction
Of life this creates such
A record that commands he must live or die.

Endearing Obsession

My heavy heart ever sighs for you
A syrupy silent smile, awaiting every move
Eyes nomadic, setting like a sunset on the edge of mars
Gazing… as if to focus on the rarest star

There is a sweetness that I crave to taste
A wild, foreign but trusting terrain
Feverish fingertips padding gently on rippling arms
Stroking the soft ancient bark of driving charms

Cape Horn’s stormy seas await our return
Crash your mind on my lands so lost, so burned
As flames lick my tear-blemished blood
The hot winds of fervor rattle my bones to mud

Keep your eyes set on the edge of the red dunes
Of which the mighty tempest runs free from doom
Into the lungs of pending exhalation,
You rest ever upon my endearing obsession

World above the clouds

Far away from this bonded crowd,
Far away from these layers of
shroud,
Oh wings of the air glide me away,
To the world, world above the
clouds.

To the giant mountains of mist,
Where sparkling houses of rain
will
be built,
World beneath where would be
moving,
And sun rays where will be cold
and soothing.

Where I won’t be bound by laws,
And I could speak freely about
the
things I love aloud,
Yeah to the world with cloud
above the clouds,
Where everything just everything
will be allowed.

Sliding on morning dews that stays
till night,
Diving in the night’s sky that looks
like morning light,
With no paths to follow,
I’ll glide free and fast,
Yawing, pitching, bouncing,
shouting,
Like the endless penumbra it’s
unknown where I’ll last
Yeah endless it is,
And it’s unknown where I’ll last

For Above the CloudsContest
I think I am late :-( posting this
anyways

Moments In Time

The sweetest sounds of burning trees
A gentle stroking in the breeze
The calm has lasted past the storm
Cloudy visions, Satan’s roar
Too many sights have passed my way
A time found only in the haze
The softest screams are running bare
My aching bones creak as I stare

You walk a distance towards me
The fall’s eternal, can’t you see?
I’m a memory in your heart
I whisper to you in the dark

The battle’s started at the end
No one is coming to repent
The sinners grab their wine from prey
No judgment calling here to stay
The sport is reckless to be told
The one is laughing at his souls
It falters nowhere to be sure
The power grows forevermore
Like a spirit in the wind
I have no say in where you’ve been
But cross the line to come to me
And pay the price for ecstasy

You walk a distance towards me
The fall’s eternal, can’t you see?
I’m a memory in your heart
I whisper to you in the dark.

Groundswell Girl - Named by JB

Enter a storybook tale
Where I can be
The heroine you hail
Lucid dreams of soft reflection
A touch heated with lust and desired protection
A breathe a gasp as we succeed
Join the fairytale with me
Valiant night within dark eyes
the right movement and I make them shine
like moonlight on the steamy hot spring
care to follow for a little dip with me
Trailing like the water at my fingertips
Grasp me around my hips
As close as the breeze on my skin
Whisper lies as I let you in
Lips mumbling up my thighs
bare heart exposed to the sky
fire burning in my veins
Am I a mistress of this lust or simply a slave
Trembling with desire
Take me till we've lost count of the hours
enter this storybook tale
Where I can be the heroine you hail

Journey of Life

It takes years to create,
Even one considered to be tame.
Still to this date,
There are no two that are the same.
Like a picture show,
That is incomplete.
Destiny in tow,
The journey of life will one day meet.
Throughout this single event,
We will have experiences of both good and bad.
We learn to circumvent,
Then cherish the good times had.
At no time is it ever jaded,
Nor is it fake.
It is never to be evaded,
This is a journey we all must take.

The Tale of Sandy the Snail

This is the tale of Sandy the snail...
Who always wore her hair in a ponytail...
She was different from others and I’m sure you’ll agree...
As her colors were bright neon fluorescent green you see...
She wasn’t content just moving slow...
She wanted to run like a Marathon Pro...
Up early each morning...
When the Sun arose...
She did pushups, pull ups and touched her toes...
Alas... it was then she realized this was futile...
As everyone knows...
If she had feet, she would be more mobile...

Walk with me

 We follow the river
Along  the Taff Trail ****
Where will it lead me
Somewhere beautiful without fail

We pass Llandaff  Cathedral
With Epstein,s statue's within
Cant say that I like it
But thats not a sin

We keep walking for miles
My dog Tilly and me
Soon will be at a castle
Used in films u see

The name of the castle
Is Castell  Coch
Whose  translation reads
Red Castle of course

It called locally as
The magic castle
Looks so mysterious
As though ready for battle

The rooms arent big at all
Carved small  animals adorn the wall
Been sanctioned for weddings
Though numbers  must be small

Time to turn back
Homeward bound
Along the manmade track
To the mighty rugby ground

Where voices echo
Hymns are sung
The 6 nations contest*
Has begun.

Come on Wales The reigning grand slam **and   triple crown ***champions

*wales, ireland, scotland, england, italy and france, battle it out annually against each other in Rugby Union.

**Grand slam is where  you beat all the other teams

***Triple crown is where you have to beat the other 3 uk teams.

**** the river running through Cardiff is the River Taff, that is why we in Wales are called Taffy's

Taff Trail is 50 miles  of track between Cardiff and  Brecon through countryside and over mountains.

PLEASE GOOGLE. Castell  Coch  hopefully you will be impressed.

New Paths

A new path is what we seek.
The surroundings are taking a peek,
Going through, very meek,
Seeing no bleaks,
Getting piqued,
While hearing creaks,
In the new paths that we seek...

The new path is what is found,
Going through forests bound,
Going through the path inbound,
With soothing and raging water sounds.
Walking confound,
Silence profounded,
Sight astounded,
Passed through burial grounds...

Seeking for another way around,
Noises resound,
Spirits surround,
The paths newfounded,
Our instincts compounded,
Followed by the hounds,
Echoes in ultrasounds,
Passed through mysterious breeding grounds...

Going to stamping grounds,
Trying to get off this ground,
With those burial mounds,
Death moving the wheels around,
Silhouettes running aground,
Trying to leave safe and sound,
Passing through some hunting grounds...

Seeking for common grounds,
The mistaken path redounded,
Regretful screams abound.
Plans propounded,
Though some are fouled,
Throughout the paths that were found...

However, most are lost and wounded,
Most tended to walk out,
Some minds and hearts full of doubts.
Hearing salvation shouts,
From all these new paths walked and found...

Lewis And Clark

They were Meriwether Lewis and William Clark,
Her name was Sacagawea.
On an expedition they did embark
Finding the passage to the sea.

Down the Missouri they traveled,
Then slithered 'round the Snake River bend.
Rocky Mountain weather and sickness battled;
At the Columbia River they'd end.

Dancing with the trees

Dancing with the trees.

Like the silence of the bush be I
So wonderful I feel
Within the depth of mystic river
Comes a space that is so still
I see it all, and all of me
In the dancing of the trees
The way they wave so gracefully
As they float upon the breeze.

I catch a glimpse of the vast 'I am'
In the power of the silence
All arrogance it dissipates
And so do shades of violence
As they flow away on the painted river
On it's way to the mighty ocean
The only thing that takes their place
Is love and sweet devotion.

A Parrot lands upon a branch
All orange, blue, and green
As I catch a glimpse of the morning sun
As it shines upon his sheen
And make the colours come to life
And I feel that power in me
the power of the all that is
With all it's energy.

The Landscape of a Soul

The landscape of a soul is
A valley of uncertainty
Beneath a mountain of woes,
A river of doubt
Carving a path between
A desert of despair
And a forest laden with shortcomings.
This is the trek of a lifetime.
A journey laced with
A sense of impending doom,
With nothing but the path ahead
To supply a glimmer of hope.
But we,
The dreamers,
Delve into these trenches of mystery
And despair,
Knowing that we
May discover riches beyond compare,
But just as well meet our end
Along the way.
For we know how remarkable it is,
That one can miss so much
With our feet set forward
Our eyes to the ground
And our mind lost in the clouds.
When all along,
The answer we sought
Was nestled among the insecurities
And imperfections
Of the landscape of our soul.

Black and White

You’ve maddened me to the core
You singed me with your ferocious fire
We’re opposites… we’ll never integrate
We can’t blend with each other…
Your love and I’m hate
We’re contrary to each other…

So don’t even think about
Getting us back together
Because without a doubt,
We don’t click with each other…

So let us go our own way…

Everything’s black and white
You love to torture me with your deceptive devices
We’re playing this chess match – let’s fight!
Tonight, you’re going to pay the prices
You’re going to be deleted from my mind…

I’m not the one that should pay the price
You act as if you’re an angel from heaven
But, you’re a fiend…a devil from hell...who needs your advice?
Could someone unchain me from this prison?

So let us prepare for that day…

Fear and bewilderment build inside of our minds
Taking over us…we’re wasting valuable time
Terror and wrath injects into our veins…time starts to unwind
I’m regaining my glory…this moment feels so sublime

You think you’re innocent?
I can sense your guilt…bleeding through you
Do you live to feed me anguish?
Don’t deny it…you crafty demon…no wonder I feel blue

Let’s get ready for battle…
I’ll watch you decay…
IT’S PAY BACK TIME . . .
Taste my fury and my agony

Everything’s black and white
You love to torture me with your deceptive devices
We’re playing this chess match – let’s fight!
Tonight, you’re going to pay the prices
You’re going to be defeated…

I scream before nightfall
I close my eyes to kiss my demise
I want to disappear
Scratch away my desolation
Wipe away my tears…
Spewing out of my eyes…like a waterfall
Tonight, there will be dismay
There will be suffering
After sundown…
Failure and glory will expose like stars in the midnight sky
Who will earn the crown?
No one knows in silent wars – who can reveal the light in goodbye

Why are we black and white?
Are you too afraid to know the reason why?

Everything’s black and white
You love to torture me with your deceptive devices
We’re playing this chess match – let’s fight!
Tonight, you’re going to pay the prices
You’re going to suffer alone…

Machu Pichu

A staff is more than handhold, its worn
to the grasp, trust in what fell down from above.

The llama's sure foothold fits like our staffs
in the rocks climbing upward to the top to the sky.

We risk the blaze of sun, for the wide wings of condor
soaring, spiraling, hunting for a meal, never assured

except for his hold on the sky, flight, supreme
over the rocks and tumbles and worn out straw

of season of cold passing into days of warmth.
The spindle clatter, the roil and curve of weft needle

a prayer to on high, like the spirals of rock to the sky
the sun speaking to us at feet, these are complete

to the rest and remain of our escape to safety
in the cradle of our summer retreat, waiting for stars

to fall among us, waiting for stars to carry us away
from homes built within a circle of spires, three spires

to bring the ley lines of power into our grasp, to offer
escape from the dust and dung we live in, amazed.

The Storm

And the storm calls to me in ways you'll never understand
A gentle call that urges my soul forth
The lighting guiding a path for my feet to walk
Between the stones and ash of all that once was
I stand in the echoing silence of the rain
It drops down upon my skin like the blessing waters of heaven
Soothing me, lifting the weight from my body
I feel at once as if I am home
Standing amid two dimensions
Caught between two skies - here and there
The night wraping around me in warmth
The gentle wind lifting me off my feet
Drops from the clouded moon washing away my body
and I am left just a soul, an essence
The storm calls me forth from beneath my roof
Beckoning me into its depth
I stand among the reeds in the basin
They dance and sway as if welcoming me
And I sway with them back
Caught up in the power that charges the air
That threatens to sweep me away
If the ground will just loosen its hold
The thunder rumbles a low welcoming growl
And I get pleasently lost within it
I am so small compared to its vastness
I close my eyes and succumb to the skies wishes
Rising higher until my feet no longer touch the ground
My fingertips touch the liquid color of the stars
A sigh drifts from my lips
There is no need of thought to stay afloat
There is no demand to breathe in air
No crushing weight upon my chest
As my lungs struggle to survive
There are no struggles here
I make my bed on blackened clouds
And give in to the call
The storm has claimed me as its own
It was such a struggle to stay upon the ground
When the storm would call me home

A Pirate's Lot

Footprints on a sandy beach,
will be washed away by morning.
There's a storm out on the open sea,
A thunderclap - a warning!
A lonely ship is tossed about,
and struggles in the hue,
its motley crew begins to shout
at the wicked card they drew...
The ship takes on a starboard list,
the crew jumps in the drink,
lightning strikes the wooden mast,
the ship is doomed to sink.
Fear fills the hearts of those
from captain down to yeoman,
but yo this rugged life they chose
not heeding sign nor omen.
Are you really safe from shark attack,
while standing on the shore?
A mighty ship in port is safe,
but that's not what ships are for...

Crossroads

Walking threw the mist of the night,
on the path that lead deep into the forest, in absence of sound;
from one whom was bought, no body shell be found,
of those who might be lost, homeward bound,
as we raven through this hollow ground.

Cross sentences that are incomplete, fractions that make you weak,
threw words that you learned so well, life is a living hell,
don't front and pull back, end of line, number check,
in the story and on track, blank page,
ink intact.

Butterfly

I once was like a catipiller young, naive, and new
Always living from my heart not knowing what
else to do.Easy to take advantage of, that is
just the case, people would walk over me
like I was their dirty used up suitcase.
Now I feel a newness coming, like a light
shining from the sky, colors fill my world
and I know I am blooming into a butterfly.
Purple,Pink, Blue and Green I can feel them
flowing through. Colors of the rainbow raising
me into full bloom. Wise and strong I am becoming
My faith leads me where I need to go giving me
insight and wiseness for only me to know.
I have not done this on my own you see
I have been guided by God and Angels
on this Earth. Wise words the wisdom at
it's best comes from a wise lady who
seems to know me best. Lucky, I am
to have her in my life, she always shoots
it straight and tells me like it is, knowing
her words touch my heart and gives me tons of faith..
I feel like flying through the sky or climbing
a tree way up high. I feel like observing the
world just like a brand new butterfly so as I
Bloom I become Anew something unlike the past
Smart and wise beautiful on the inside and outside
a touch of color here a touch of color there
makes me glow and become a beautiful blooming butterfly...

Shadows of Terror - Lion Kill

As the light dims and dances on the horizon
A menace stirs from its slumber, slinks from the shadows.
The game move to and fro, staying sit means certain death.

The eyes of death blink with certain deadly cunning,
paws step lightly and then begins the running.

The cry goes out to all, Life is being written in tooth and claw.
Animals become scatterings in the night, dust and sand dance between their feet.
The sound resonates slowly steadily, like the first rains of the season, until lighting strikes.

The roar is deafening, tooth and claw bearing.
The cry goes out, the shadows of terror are about.
Tawny flashes move back and forth, distress and fear prowl among the animals.

Brown eyes stair into the blackness of the night.
Knowing that courage musters to challenge the assault on their fallen comrade.

STANDING TO ATTENTION IN RANKS OF HOOVES AND HORNS
BORN TO BE WARRIORS OF THE BUSH, BUFFALO STAND TALL.

FORGED BY TRAILS OF NEAR DEATH AND ESCAPE
NEAR MISSES AND SWIPES OF CLAW AND PAW

FORM SCARES AND MARES ON THEIR THICK HIDE
WAVES OF FEIRCE RESISTANCE RISE AGAINST THE TEMPESTUOUS TIDE

Bombardment of bodies against that tawny terror.
Horns heave, shove, push, and move.
The earth beneath them quakes, shifts, and trembles under hooves.

However determination of suffocating and straggling terror.
Grips, bites, and holds.
The ranks brake and scatter, did there effort even matter.
No one knows, which way the battle would go.

The battles have been decisive,
Now the law of tooth and claw,
It has been written, sealed, and decided.

My Future Generation

I can act insane
But DO NOT
Make me feel worthless

I belong in God’s family
He will bless my future generation

Don’t punish me for
Being myself –
Don’t envy my glee

I can act like an
Adult, but I’d
Prefer to have joy…

Not stress…
That piles upon us in our
Everyday lives

Being childlike is

A rare beauty –

No one prizes it…

No one came across it…

In this lifetime…

I can laugh all day
I can make you smile
If you’d accept my
Childlike dreams of mine
Don’t treat me like a sick swine

Renew my young heart
Give me the ability
To kill the old man…

I have my place in God’s family
He’ll be adored and glorified
We’ll exchange prayers and hugs
By my future generation

I beg of you –
Don’t kill my childlike mentality
I’ll behave myself…
I’m positively sure that I’ll make you happy

I’ll still have pieces of a child in me

And pass it on to my future generation…

Only in You

Through the lonely woods, I may head,

Upon the autumn leaves, I may tread,

At the secluded horizon, I may stare,

And only you, I may see,

In those symphonies of silence,

In those melodies of calmness,

In those euphonies of quietness.

By the silent lake, I may lay,

Till the twilight fades, I may stay,

Then in reclusive silence, I may walk,

And only to you, I may talk,

Through those toungueless emotions,

Through those wordless attachments,

Through those voiceless sentiments.

In the lone meadow, I may wander,

Along the untrodden paths, I may waver,

In companionless seclusion, I may hide,

And only in you, I may find,

The depths of oneness,

The bonds of togetherness,

The cozy feel of coalescence.

In the wilderness of emotions, I may die,

At the merciless daggering, I may sigh,

Through a million wounds, I may bleed,

And only in you, I may seek,

The balm of love,

The warmth of affection,

The heal of inseparability.

The Rain and Wind

The wind blew events all over the place.
Intense emotions and it gave chase.
Lightning lighting to show us the sky.
People try to sleep and not cry.
Wisping by the wind keeps us awake.
The time trying to sleep the storms take.
Chills in everyone gives all shiver.
The clouds surrounded by moonlight is silver.
Heavenly prayers that the rain will stop.
The flood stopped a car the person in it was a cop.
People have seen such devastation.
The road that people made was week in creation.
Rivers near by was over flowing.
Trees that were there was not showing.
By the hour it claimed many.
My father woke up and did not see any.
Floating by was a boat.
Keeping people above water and a float.
My father kept a canoe.
That some day we would use it, that he knew.
Time to paddle up and down the street.
The rain water kept getting on our seat.
It was so dark after the moon was behind the cloud.
Still the noise of thunder still covered the ears loud.
The smell of moist water never seem to go away.
My brothers seem to still sleep anyway.
My head was bobbing up and down.
I was so tired that I could not hear a sound.
The wind blew back and fourth.
It seems that my mom and dad paddle their worth.
Till all the people we saw with grace.
Help us out with embrace.
The time was so late at night.
Everyone was so sleepy and losing sight.
The fight with the weather was so hectic.
The feelings of energy was electric.
Losing to such natural disaster is hard to understand.
When people working hard to block the river with bags of sand.
With hard workers like my mom and dad.
They make things happen that is not bad.
Rough with weather they experience more than ever.
Leaders they are they are very clever.
From the night light of street lights to the morning glow.
The wind did not stop so.
Bringing in more clouds that ill.
The people who were still tired still had will.
The rush of water and waves blasting push the wall side.
Pushing and the force brought water inside.
The battle of our hour was getting long.
Backup people came to aid us was strong.
Rested they were to keep everyone with hope.
The people stopped the water with the strength of rope.
Heavy rain and loss of homes bring people together.
It is kind of sad that this was the only time to gather.
Chaos comes happiness how true.
This is why we are human that gives us a clue.
It is our nature to keep rain falling.
To know when it is time for our calling.
The winds bring such pain and sorrow.
That is why rain sometimes fallow.

like diamonds

two hits and i’m hanging off cliffs, listening to water

drip.

watching moss fall like snowflakes.

nothing holding my heels down but gravity, irrelevant to me.

the little girl exploring the ocean floor, the caves that once held entrancing treasures.

even tactile pain drives me into a gust of euphoria.

my heart beats (slower than it should), but the trees don’t mind.

the four shades of green blend to create a forest-

with each exhale, branches move in tandem.

and a salty tear falls from my eye,

reminiscent of what once was here.

Rise-Up

RISE-UP

Why are we dumb as woman and man?
The world is [really] not like that to live in.
We don't let stressors break us down when we should address them right now.
We full of grit and grim that disengages a stable mind.
Never does this not aspect but when it is address; we have found the ultimate perspective.
“If” is a very big word in which the only thing hurt a try is failure.
           Put forth effort.
           Rise above your obstacles!
Let the world know you are not that damn man and woman, do the same.
Does neither this concept nor aspect; this conceives.
           So please get with it!
Rise-up and show others what life has to give.

Journey into the unknown

Let me take a journey into the unknown
A journey that might change what I thought I had known
A journey into the self
A journey into me
The id, the ego
Who am I?
Would I still be me if I stopped doing what I do?
(Would I still be me) if I changed my face?
(Would I still be me) if I changed my living space?
What is life?
Is it the breath, the body, the spirit or the soul?
Does it have anything to do with style?
Am I alive when I sleep?
How is life affected when I weep?

What is love?
What is love
Is it the friendship, affection or adoration?
How do I know when I am loved?
What signs are there when I give it?
Does my family always love me?
Do they love me when they are angry?
Do they love it when I am mad or sad and feeling bad?
Do they love me when I don’t love them back?
Someone tell me what is love?

Now let’s talk about death
Is death always cruel?
Or is it sometimes a favour?
I wonder why people cry
How else can you meet your saviour?
My soul is troubled
My heart unsettled
I am afraid, so very afraid
Why were we created if our inevitable destiny is death?
Who has the map to paradise?
Who knows about eternity?

I need answers about morality
Somebody talk to me about equality
Tell me about justice and truth
Do these things really exist?
Some things you will never understand
Where is the fairness when someone puts the letter l in lambdacisms and the letter s in lisp.

Sunsets and Journeys

Poem about beautiful sunsets and the journey of life.

Spent all day walking on the beautiful powdery white beach. Picking
up oceans treasures, scallop shells calico in colors rich and diverse,
conch, coral, cockel, Sand dollar, sea biscuit, lightning welk, snell shells
of every kind. Ocean breakers emerald crashing and rumbling up onto
the porcelain beach. Wade out let it splash all over me so cooling and
refreshing along with ocean breeze. Splash on the face I lick it off,
exquisitely salty. sand Pipers skiddering along, Pelicans and sea gulls
in the indigo sky catching my eye. Such beautiful things my spirit uplifted.
Sun now kissing the ocean in an explosion of colors. I sit down
to take it all in. Orange, scarlet, green, violet, purple, amber,
gold, emerald, jasper, amathyst, amber, alibaster and every
hue inbetween. A glorious feastfor the eye and mind
to put at ease. Dark now as the golden moon
takes it's Majasties place. What a simply wonderful day.
Giving sigh it's over I could do this forever. Time to go back to my home
in Arkansas. We have beautiful sunsets there as well. Beautiful mountains,
streams, forests, springs, caves, clear lakes await for me to revisit.
The air is clean with a fragrant scent, purple, yellow, orange, lavender,
azure, indigo, cardinal, porcalin, pink and more colors than I can
describe wild flowers frow. Clear blue rivers rush with white roaring
rapids to float, forests of emerald abundant to explore. Mountains
treacherous to scale, Hot springs to sooth and heal both body and
spirit. Diamonds to find, red, champagne, blue, sparkling enchanting
exquisite. Crystals bound in the mines near the healing hot springs,
amythest, garnets, water crystals, rubies and jasper in georgeous
colors crafted into rings, bracelets, pendants, watch bands and so
many more elegant things. I may never get to return to the beloved
beaches again in my life, but I still have all these wonderous things
in My Natural Arkansas. However if I am fortunate enough to return to
the glorious oceans and beaches, I will once again enjoy the treasures,
pleasures, sunsets to behold so bold and vibrant, more wonderful
memories if it comes to pass. one never knows for certain what lays
ahead down lifes path so onward we go and enjoy each blessing
that the Lord has prepared to us to see. Hopefully we will learn on
this journey to love, care for and share with each other.

The river flows

The river flows

The river flows so endlessly
Replenishing the sea
With all the rain that falls to Earth
It’s just the way she be
And nothing halts her in her journey
She knows where she must go
No matter what, no matter when
To the ocean she will flow.

Oh yes she’ll travel on her way
Opposing all in sight
She never struggles to get there
She never uses might
She just goes with gravity
Lets him take her in his stride
Over rocks and, down the waterfalls
Sometimes she’s narrow, sometimes wide.

If we could flow just like this river
Our lives would be so sweet
We’d let life take us in her flow
And everything we’d meet
So softly and so easily
Till we get where we must go
You see, this be the way we’re made
To move within the flow.

Birth of a Poet

The animals know better than us. The rain has never poured so loudly in a key so soft.
To the front, the sailing of city buses and mini vans cruising across in this weather makes the water underneath their tires sound like the street is crying out for 5 more minutes of sleep. Up above, the trees are protecting a nest of baby blue jays before they get washed away by the silence of their mother not being there. But with sky blue young spirits, and small empty stomachs, they keep hope alive in the fact that even children know storms and struggles don’t last forever.
Below the trees, nature has found a name to call it’s own. From the hole dug by the little boy next door, a family of three foxes have named human nature sanctuary, and burrowed their problems into the sediment to rest for a while.
To the side of the hole, a flock of ducks are swimming in the water with eyes open wide enough to where you can see their loyalty to love one another rushes wild.
To the right of the pond, caged up in a man made blanket, and lost in his own mind, is the boy. From what he remembers, last night was like a train accident; A head on collision of two people he could’ve sworn he saw holding hands just the other day. He hears the sound of plates shattering in C-minor, and the chorus of words that his parents screamed in F-sharp, so he imprisoned himself in his own bed sheets, accompanied by the courageous corduroy bear who he swears keeps hearing whisper “everything will be okay.”
It’s raining outside, and the crescendos of screams have been silenced by it’s peaceful security.
The boy, sleeps soundly now. The rain has protected his ears, and guarded his heart from being washed away by all of his nightmares.
He doesn’t care whether he wakes up. The baby blue jay, the resourceful fox and the brave little duck are all he wants to keep dreaming about.
Maybe he’ll run away into the rain? Or maybe into the arms if his mother?, whom he prays he can still recognize. To the left of his bed, he picked up the blank page of his coloring book and a crayon, and became a life long poet in that moment that morning. Taking a deep breath in, and giving a soft breath out, his first sentence was
“The animals know better than us.”

Right Now

In the exact moment that I am right now
I stand in a sea of vulnerability;
susceptible to the effects of causes around me
and since I am fully aware,
I own my surroundings
I am one with sounds and vibrations
resonating from the earth;
I am that pulse of the drum beat
thats been thrashing
inside me since birth

Right now, I am exactly as I am
deeply flawed and misjudged
used, victimized and persecuted
Right now I am you in the absolute

Right now, I am exactly as I am
balanced, whole and complete
attracting abundance and certainty
Right now I am peace - still you

Right now, I am exactly as I am
You

Words of Life

Drowning in the pool of anguish…oh…oh…
I’m venturing into the forest…and I want to hear the words seep out
Release these aching sorrows…I worry my soul’s drying out…
like a drought…
Drain out the fluids from my heart
It’s gouging me…bruising me to the core…

**chorus**
Embrace the light…embrace the midnight sky…
You fall in my arms – you die so warm
Shed me more sun to lift up my spirits
From the…underground…and release me – I’m breathless
I’m drowning in doubt…ooh… oh…

Remember me…I’m falling…into my swirling fate…hanging on the roots
Strangling my heart…distorting in my veins… I’m bleeding so softly – cut out the wood…
Splintering me…I’m shattering… and I’m falling in the abyss
Bring me more radiance from my candle light
Warp me up in bliss…don’t let the midnight sky…don’t take away my delight
From the…ocean…and save me—save me…oh… oh… I’m failing

*chorus*

I’m drowning in regret…ooh..oh…
Hit the bull’s eye in my heart…embrace the light
And don’t leave me hanging in the abyss…hand me a kite!
Save me before I fall apart…shut out the night
And don’t let the dusk escape us…

I must confess…
I must confess…
I hate to see you abandon the light…
But I’m not the one to save you from the night
Ooh…ohh…

*Chorus*

Splintering lies fill your heart
I want to kiss it goodbye…
But you’ve mastered it like a piece of art
I want to kiss the abyss and die…
Dry… I wanna touch the sky with my whole soul
But I’m failing and the end of time has taken its toll
Tainted sorrow…swims around me…I dwell where the waters depart
But the anguish still swarms in my heart…
I’m failing…my heart stops beating
And my desires are fleeting
From my grasp
And the monsters laugh at me…as I fall…

*chorus*

Embrace the midnight sky…catch me…catch me…
As I fall in death’s arms…I die so cold
And your heart is made of gold

Untangle the darkness & take away the nightmares
Answer our prayers & block out the night
Erase the heartaches & wipe away our tears
Unravel Your words of life & delight

Like a bird

Like a bird

Like a bird up in a treetop
Singing, tenderly
This little bird I know him well
This creature it be me
I sit here with my pen in hand
And sing so crazily
With symbols shining out like gold
I give my song to thee

These words, they be my message
I sing them to the sky
One day his body will be gone
But the words will never die
They well up from my very soul
Without no help from me
I am that bird up in a tree
With his lone symphony.

And lord, I like to share it
I will whisper from the stars
And tell the world I am this bird
Send vibes out wide and far
That sing about the journey
The only one I know
As I’m sending out my story
In words that make it glow.

THE WAY HOME

Preferred by those that know of nothing fair.
Destroyed by sand that blows through consciousness.
Existing in a vacuum of despair.
I left that world behind I must confess.

The wheels of hope extinguished memories.
With every mile clouds would drift away.
Until the devil's valley and disease.
Were lost in natures brilliant grand foyer.

Rejoice, the mountains, rivers of my home.
Forsaken once so young and long ago.
The years have swallowed up the urge to roam.
And age has brought the need to take it slow.
Thoughts now have left me of that evil land.
Here God and nature hold me in their hand.

If I Shall Grow Old 2K13

If these eyes shall become blinded, and if this
hair shall come to be combed thinly and grey;
No, it would not be the end of the world.
I would still see beauty therein this world through
the songs of Crickets and Feathered Songsters.
The breeze would yet whisper and trees still dance.
I would yet smell the freshly bloom of Spring.
I'd still endure Summer's sweltering heat.
I'd yet feel Autumn's leaves crunch 'neath these toes.
I'd still long to be fireside with Winter.
Disabled or not, perhaps I'd yet walk
therein wonderful imagination.
How I'd be forever young at heart!
Then just as one journey came to an end,
I'd indeed greet another with a smile.

The landscape of an african soul - Tuli Circle

As dawn peers over the edge of the sky,
In a space of the lonely kopjes and cacti.
Where God roamed to the edge of a scorched wilderness,
and stared into the vast land of nothingness.

HERE, STANDS A PLACE ARID AND BONE DRY
WHERE ROOT AND SHOOT SHRIVEL AND DIE.

HERE IS WHERE HE FORMED ROCKY OUTCROPS AND SANDY STRANDS
TULI IS IT’S NAME.

IN THIS FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, WHERE WIND ROLES A GUST
FORMATION OF BOULDERS, PEBBLES, AND DUST.

The springs of vitality forced from the ground below
Sweet honey dew, taste of life, transforms this dusty bowl

Where quenched thirsts were satisfied,
Hunger for food became starvation and slowly crippled the dreary
Only the toughest would survive, no room for the weary

As time pasted, it forgot this flat open bush
where grass and shrub became razor sharp and prickly scrub.
harsh and foreboding.

The Shashe river snaking through the sandy ground
with dust and rubble on the fortress mound

So men came to conquer and forge his own path,
What madness is this, why was he so daft.
But, when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object
History is written.

Wheels of progress move steadily forward
Rocks being used to build roads, bridges, houses, and prisons
So hard, tough, and cold these objects are to house the idea of future dreams and missions.

The stubborn will to settle,
made peoples focus rock solid.
But as time marches out and onward,
the memories and sentiments pasted through like a gentle breeze.

All that is left is the forgotten memories, graves, and relics of buildings old,
Hunters, Riders, and Voortrekkers cry out from the dust and sand,
that fortress of Pioneers, Tuli.

Clothed in white feathers...
They stalk in slow motion
And as they strike a pose
Everything rare and beautiful.
Round my heart and soul of bliss
A transformation begins,
At peace I am.

Wild Western Blizzard

What could I really know of the breaks
                                                                in the land
huge canyons bleeding red cut by the wind
with the snow swirling around our tires
barns upright
and fallen to a tumble like icebergs
windshield riming over with a crust of ice
                        we scrape madly inside
                              trying to keep cold out
speed slowing
slowing to a crawl
always on the lookout
outside line appearing and gone,
                                                                    no worries about
cattle led inside to safety to be watered and fed
but what of us?
Will we be trapped clutching a candle
                             wanting a chocolate bar,
                                 waiting for a tractor?
and all the flat seeming land seems to have ditches
and roof pitches and rushing trees, and a swirl
                         of slumbering snow
to lumber down in drifts and piles
no fire would ever warm us
                                                                temperature dropping
dropping
until finally we see it shining in the dark
                                          a lantern at a farm
a fleet of snow mobiles to greet us
                                                                   scurry is off
                             before our ears turn blue,
                                would they fall off?
Luckily, not tonight, not in this blizzard,
                                                                      we have home.

Philosophical Poetry Week: Transient Tuesday

I am a misprint,
Ink blot on love,
I remain a maybe
Longing for fact,
No speck of lint,
A hand in glove.
Thunder; a baby
Will only react

When you etch
Parallel clouds,
Whistling on cue
To a dead town.
Dream a sketch
Of silent crowds
Becoming you,
This boiling crown

Chews thought
Into flagellation.
Holes in the walls
To spy through,
Seeking a sort
Of bricked-up sun.
A heaven of halls,
All leaving you.

My Wishes are Simple

My Wishes are Simple

My wishes are simple,
my desires few,

to gaze upon an ocean,
and marvel at a solitary drop of dew.

My wishes are simple,
my dreams not too grand,

to feel the waves teasing my tired feet,
with no footprints left in the cool, wet sand.

My wishes are simple,
my thoughts serenely gentle, calm,

my heart resting beneath a swaying palm,

healing my being, caressed by nature's soothing balm.

Le Vacance Pretentieuse: Going Home

What is it to see the soil of home again?
A welcome, snow-struck and a return
To cold; sharp white contrasts sunburn.
We converse in broken tongues to men

We know, hooked on holiday language
Comprised of wandering hand signs.
Collect the car and pay parking fines,
Drive through towns and over a bridge

Until we reach the Western gateway.
Oh when will we arrive at our house?
No camels there, only field mouse
Which are eaten by our cat anyway.

The plane flies for an age, slyly yawning
Through the stretching, pealing sky,
A knife through air; what it is to fly.
Our travels over; a new day is dawning.

Wild Portland Marion berries

The wild berries of the Northwest
it seems every path you walk on , they are there for you to sample ,

Almost as The city of Portland itself is welcoming you with astonishing beauty, the view of a snow tipped Volcano , as if greeting you with a basket full of fresh wild Marion berries

The beauty, just picked plump , the color of dark purple
a fragrance to savor , what will I do ?
will I make a pie or preserves ?
Oh the pancakes and waffles , the Tillamook ice cream is a must ~

After rinsing the fresh picked Berries with water and dusting them with fine Sugar , a hint of cinnamon , if pie , waffle , or cake . maybe just plain ,
serve with whipped cream made from scratch and a leaf of mint .

The Salmon , the berries , roses and apples all in the Great Northwest ,
You may visit however be warned , for many have come this way
Many have travelled a far ,

For the great Spirit of This Northwest will encompass and astound you .
Begging your soul to stay and live the way of a Portlander .

Give me rain I say , for the green here will blind you, it is
like walking off the black and white set of Wizard of Oz,
and opening the amazing door to Colors .

Goats

Goats

They’re everywhere
These pretty little creatures
On the serpent road to Exmouth
They be some of the features
Along with Emus, Kangaroos
And handsome birds of prey
These little goats be bountiful
They’re all along the way.

They be domestic goats
Who’ve gone back to the wilds
Where they have bred one million fold.
As one moves along the miles
These little goats be seen so much
In their many shades and hues
Don’t know where they got their water
It be tough country too.

The weather here be hot and dry
As the sun bakes everything
And mostly here no rain does fall
To drinking water bring.
And yet these goats look healthy as
Such nimble little beasts
You’d see some dead there in the road
As the crows do have their feast.

That be the price of progress
That poor beasts have to die
That be the curse of human beings
Sometimes it makes me cry
Yet still they be so plentiful
These handsome little guys
Another little part of nature
That make love in me rise.

Armageddon Pt 1

It's bout to get worse
It was written in the verse
The truth hurts
ARMAGEDDON WILL NOT BE TELEVISED

When the time comes
No one's gonna hold up a sign
saying it's time to "get right"
It's gone come like a thief in the night!
Blowin' up and wreckin ish!
The war you want is the war you gone get
It was written before our time
We keep looking at the signs
manifest before our very eyes
constantly denying our right
to be one of the meek ones of our time
ARMAGEDDEON WILL NOT BE TELEVISED

We're at the end of what used to be existence
Every super power will answer to a higher power
so pray repentence
The time is closer than any distance
From Washington to Obama
No one will escape the wrath!
Hope you choose the right path!
Narrow is the gate of the righteous tracks
that are imprented on the mind of the omnipotent one
Will you be spared life on earth with the meek ones
and accurately take in knowledge of his son?
OR will you perish in the dust
never to be awakened again?
No consciousness of sin
ARMAGEDDON WILL NOT BE TELEVISED!

It's in the verses
Read it, see it, live it, rehearse it
You see the times changing
You see the minds fading
You see the world and how messed up it is
You see that nigga satan and his curses!
I pray to have a chance to live a beautiful paradise on earth like it say in the verses!

Centipede's Feet

Looking back to see
Reflections that are beyond me
Centipede’s feet lined up so neat

Some are oval and some are square
One then the other, or a pair
Will they move or do they dare?

Black, white, yellow, red, brown and blue
Each one’s color bold and true
No matter, they don’t wear a shoe

Motionless the feet do not move
The color red holding them like glue
An animal in a cage at a zoo

Finally on the cue of green
The centipede’s feet slowly begin to careen
Gleefully, gliding to their daily scene

Termite country

Termite Country

We’re heading north to Exmouth,
Carnarvon we’ve just passed.
We be driving up a serpent road,
As the country seems so vast.
It’s hot outside, but in this van,
The air cons on and all,
As all along the road we pass,
Little goats, so beautiful….

And everywhere, most endlessly,
There’s a billion termite mounds.
Like baked brown little mountains,
They’re everywhere around.
We stopped near one, I marveled,
That a tiny beast, and blind!
Could build these blessed monuments,
It nearly blew my mind.

I took me then some photographs
Of these engineering feats,
As I let the awe and wonder,
Into my dull mind seep.
In such a vast, still country,
In the silence of the way,
Those mounds stood out so powerful,
In the heat of a sunburned day.

Dust of Africa

For ever- and a thousand years, Africa has been our home,
and when our ancestors returned to dust, they became her fertile loam.
So the dust of the deserts and of the plains is part of our ancient line,
and their age-old voice has whispered to us, from before the beginning of time.

Their spirit’s calls out, for you to return, and visit them if you will,
so you finally came back, to the cradle of man, to answer this ancient pull.
By now you know, the fate I warned, has inevitably come to pass-
that the dust of Africa has filtered in, and found its way to your heart!

Now the ancient motes of the ancient land, evermore will be
embedded in your head, and in your heart, where you may think none can see
-but the ancients know, that your visit home has made you, for the first time, whole
and that the land of your fathers, fathers, father is now infused in the depths of your soul.

So they will sing in your sleep, to their dust in your veins, more sweetly than ever before
till you return once again, to journey with them through the land that gave birth to us all

My Nest

Love is my nest.
It holds me
where all the world I see.
It saves me
from the ground
which my soul will never meet.

Up in a forest tree
hunters scattering in threes
they'll never catch me
I have love.
I am perfectly happy.

relaxed I am
I do not stress
for there isn't life
without my nest.

who cares what's below?
I am above.
love is my nest
My nest is my love.

Gift Of Mortality

An earthly existence
A universe beyond my minds, comprehension
I die
I rise
Life lessons reviewed
Homeward bound
I am not lost, after all!
I am a willing participant
Serving, the Father, of all creation
His son combined, ‘producing life’ as we know it
Representing them, in everything I do
I am nothing, without Love!
My heart full of faith, loyal service I give
Learning how to unconditionally serve, as the Father unconditionally, loves me
Worshipping our Divine Creator’s existence
Choosing to live, moment to moment
Being as one with ‘Our Universal Father’
No physical permanency
My physicality, disappearing
My mortality existence, I let go of
Death temporary
My spirit alive!
Relief, Peace
‘I am only passing through!’
A unique, experience of mortality
A gift, I am blessed to experience, to live!

The Canvas of Night

The Canvas of Night

Stars like sprinkled sugar,
lay strewn across the canvas of night,

enthralled by the wonder of the cosmos,
my dreams take to the heavens in effervescent flight,

I bathe in the beauty, soaked in sublime delight,
absorbed in moments of bliss, transfixed by the serene sight.

Stars like sprinkled sugar,
lay strewn across the canvas of night,

and my being is infused with feelings of hope,

for even in darkness I find the sprinkled sugar of hope's light.

The Valley of Bones - Chitake Springs

Lives passing by like a mirage
Stick images move through haze
The view is hard on your gaze

Footprints embedded in the ground
Echoes of the a time when life had a sound
Rolling in on hooves like thunder
Water draws the wildlife, like flies to a corpse in this valley of dry bones.

Chitake Springs, land of valleys, ridges, ravens, and dust.
Baobabs, sunsets, and elephant bulls in must.
Feelings come in with rain and are blown away with the wind.

Water draws life to its brim.
Life without it is pretty grim.
The river creates curved contours in the land
Painted in browns, yellows, and muddy blues in the sand.
Its colors melt together, soothing, and brewing.

Windy days and water bubbling
deep down in the belly of the earth.
As the heat sets in and the dust clouds grow.
The conflict of the titans comes to blows.

Brought with tension and strife,
Like distance thunder and rumbles,
tell of animals in strength of numbers.

As buffalo climb clumsily down the cliffs and valleys into the watery grave,
Eyes of predators peer from the bush as their prey
Strides to the sweet cool relief of the water
Little do they know that they are like sheep heading for the slaughter

As the heads of weary animals go down to drink,
tough though their determination be to savor every drop.
A presence they can’t escape is luring
Nerves on edge and fear brewing

The paws of death stalk with lighting precision
Until the animals are in clear vision
With an almighty dash of speed the chase is on
The game of life and death has just begun

Chitake Springs, drama is never far
Spoken of with a breath of excitement and terror
No one is ever quite sure of what to expect
Life is a balance of chance; this is the secret that is well kept

Where Wild Violets Grow

Where Wild Violets Grow

Scribbling these verses,
caressing your bare back,
simple rhymes,
flowing from my fingertips.

Scribbling verses,
sprinkling odes to fragrant promises,
your smile lightens the burdens,
off my heavy heart.

Scribbling verses,
soaked in countless kisses,
the moonlight waltzing on your skin.

Scribbling verses,
feeling you,
your love never ceases to flow,

through the streams of my mind,
to a place of our own,
where wild violets grow

RUSSIAN MOUNTAIN

Sacred and pristine Russian mountain;

From photographing you I cannot abstain!

Dear Russian mountain: 5861 miles plus
19 hours it took me to reach your home,
surrounded by nature. I am not a wuss!
Sacred and pristine Russian mountain.

Russian mountain, -30 F
don't deter me from being here. I don't
care if I frezee. This is sheer delight!
Sacred and pristine Russian mountain.

Russian mountain, make heart glad and gay!
If you were able to speak today
I wouldn't understand a iota of what you say!
Sacred and pristine Russian mountain.

Russian mountain sacred and pristine.
Mountaineers and explorers from abroad
come to visit you because you are alpine!
Sacred and pristine Russian mountain.

Russian mountain pristine and sacred.
We won't find you in an amusement park;

There's no one like you in Spokane!

The soul of the bull

The Soul of the Bull.

The one with Taurus in her chart
She’s loyal, tough and strong
She likes to spend each day in peace
To the earth she does belong
Patience is a trait of hers
And she loves to laze around
But if one chose to anger her
An enemy they’ve found.

She’s steady in each thing she does
And she’s good with her hands
She likes to be the silent one
She makes no strong demands
Possessiveness, this be her fault
She holds on much too tight
She must have her security
Before her life feels right.

Down to Earth, with common sense
This be the way she be
And willpower she has indeed
A hoarder so is she
She gives affection to her friends
And listens to their woes
And everyone who gets to know her
For her, their love just glows.

England,My Country

The rolling hills so green and tender
Mountains on high i will always remember
Colours of the seasons so fresh in my mind
All of the beauty so easy to find
This is England, the country i live
The country i would die for,the country i love

The fields the forest the mountain stream
The hills the dales the lakes agleam
Scent of summer so strong on the breeze
My land of beauty thats so hard to leave
This is England the country i adore
 Home of truth,faith,hope much more

And if the time comes then leave it i shall
To a foreign country an unknown land
Where the thoughts of England will always remain
In Gods own country ,Gods domain

No more blossom rose

No drop from the sky
No thunder other than

Patch of sands like desert

No trench for the spy.

Difficult Trials -Part 2-

Turn the wheel
*******he sea...
Push aside the misery...
The abominable agony...
Endure this hardship...with me
Fight off the tears and let us roam to sea
Don't make it hard for me
To determine the waters

We are the same kind
If you can be so KIND, let me show you your destiny -
To dwell with me in tranquility

We will try to share our responsibilities...
Take turns and share our possibilities...

How have you been?
Sorry we have shut our ears
To your deafening cries
I'm turning the wheel for you
You're losing energy...be still - why are you so blue?

I'll shut out the feeling of anguish

You'll get what you wish

We will start anew
We will start on a fresh start
We will fulfill our dreams and make them come true
We'll brew away the sadness
I'm determined to eliminate
The distress... swallowing us like a tidal wave...
Behave, you wild childlike waters!! Behave!

Don't worry - we'll get rid of
The limited happiness
And make our heart pump with merriness
Don't be a magnet of depression stress

You'll experience a wonderful opportunity
So you may feel at one with
Our world full of possibilities
And eliminate those cruel, wretched words
That tore apart our responsibilities...
Our activities... our reveries... our possibilities...
That brought us back together

We'll be hiking
These somewhat difficult hardships together

A Reflection

As I sit beside a lake,
I look down for heavens sake.
A reflection to appear.
For the ripples of life is nearly here.

This person staring back at me.
I do not know.
Is it me?
Or is it someone else.

The waters has calmed
And all I hear are the psalms.
Sung by the angels up above
And I wish I could feel their love.

This journey we are given.
To find ourselves and what we believe in.
Takes no longer than a lifetime
But merely feels like an illusion to me.

Like a little acorn being planted to be a beautiful tree.
I will live in this world to make people believe.
There's always the good and the bad
But what about hope?

Don't we need that too?
Of course we do.
The balance of nature and life is necessary
And without it, we are nothing.

Imagine the whole universe,
We are only a tiny grain of sand.
But even the littlest person can make a difference.
No matter how big or small
Short or tall
We were given a mouth to be spoken with.

This journey is hard and righteous
But as long as I am courageous,
I will be happy and contagious.
And the whole world will see me for who I am.

The Lord's Peace

Peace
The chaos is shedding
Piece
Of happiness is floating
Cease
The madness..chaos is concealing
Peace
Comes from the Lord -
To Him who mends us all...
To Him who forgives all of our sins
And downfalls
And answers everyone's calls

Stardust Covered in Harmony

There's a place of sanctuary,
That shows me a face of statuary.
I would travel to the roof,
Where the moon would keep it aloof.

Lie on my back,
Set my heart to the steady track.
Falling down to my eyes,
Are the shinning stars from the skies.

Laying unto me a blanket of dust,
That the night found to me a must.
Speaking to the shadowed clouds,
While it formatted my long lost drowds.

You could peer into my eyes,
There you would see the reflection of the skies.
You'd see harmony in the lights,
Or maybe the wings of people on flights.

You could see your loved ones,
Hiding behind the face of the suns.
Look into my pupil,
See the passion asserted in dupils.

The bright night sky,
Provided me a place to fly.
Running my finger tips through it's star dust,
Flashing a smile from far to dusk.

Can you feel the magic in the air?
You can find it in the heart you wear.
Or perhaps the the world above,
Where the most magic is part of.

On your way to this journey,
Grab ahold of the night sky firmly.
And never wonder why you have nothing,
As long as you have that harmony in grip,
You may have a long fullfilling trip.

Difficult Trials -Part 1-

Turn the wheel
Out of curiosity
I'll be generous...you'll receive
Something special...something to make you whole
Though the trials you must run through
Are a great struggle that can easily
Pull you down
And I want to erase your frown

You will feel way better about yourself
Just trust me...take my hand...
I'll encourage you to have a satisfying time
Just for your own liking
We'll be hiking
Those somewhat difficult hardships
Together for eternity
We'll spend time in the future
Together in unity

*******he sea...Let's flee and be free!
LOOK how nice you look!

Trample those insufferable nuisances
That dare put you down
To the sea floor
I'll push them to the core!

Feel free to walk the
Road of Recovery

Le Vacance Pretentieuse: Darts

Drops of sweat slip from my furrowed brow
Eyes squint, select a number and let fly now

Miss again, a millimetre is a mile once more
Aimed for triple twenty, only got double four

The walk of shame, my oh so familiar friend
Silence broken, on alcohol I forever depend

The steel point of eyes bore into my neck
My opponent leaves me a juddering wreck

I lose the match; the wife won’t give me a kiss
I wish I could have been anything else than this...

Shadow trees

Shadow trees
On gentle breeze, heave
and lip the edges of a sanctuary

Hallowed space, of union graced
In liminal hour
Protected
where dappled light plays cupid to our delight

Crepe paper garlands
Seek to adorn us
Fugitives in search of respite

No penetrating eye should moot
this canticle to umbral shine
nor prick the virtue of our plight

Unsteady mood of solace and peak
Shadow trees
In boundaries you speak
as we move on the fringes of the night -
Let me keep time
damned blue midnight

See like eye sea

Take your uproaring words
And pour them into
The deep unsettled sea
Let them wash to shore
And rumble the sand gently
Don't let them get caught up into the wild wind
They'll rip through someones sail
And make them never want to leave
The shoreline again..
So watch what you say
And how you let your words flow
With a broken compass
You never will know
In what direction
That the current will go...

Whiteout

On the top of a hill
We traced our journey here,
Tracks through a virgin snow
Ribboned away and disappeared.

On the top of a cloud
The sun softly rolled
Then fell into cobalt blue.
Hills of white seemed to race away
Like the ripples on a pond.
We traced our names in the snow
And continued across the meadow.
The journey here we shared,
Tracks of deer and fox
Reminded us we were guests.

Through a virgin innocence,
Snow blanketed our senses
With a deafening quiet.
Soldier lines of birches
Drew long thin shadows
Like soft grey ribbons
On the white damask landscape.
Away from the jagged edge of reality,
We escaped to this wonderful peace
And disappeared...

Le Vacance Pretentieuse: Baggage Claim

Drained to my very heart by our slow-paced arrival,
I wander through tasteless decor to the metal arches
Beyond which a future is unfurled.
My bag’s innards are spilled like blood in the Bible
          Before the cold gaze of the armed man who marches;
He holds the key to this new world.

The mechanistic arch stands and takes quasi-sentience
Beside passport control, piercing my finely popped
                                                Eardrums with sonic solemnity.
I am refused by technology but stagger forward hence
Into baggage claim where a suitcase pile is propped
Up like a holiday Tetris calamity.

My suitcase is soul black and with difficulty is found,
          In its lucid eagerness to fasten itself a faux family;
			   Airports are filled with pretences.
Now we are away again, small trolley safe and sound,
On the road from snow, heat is where I plan to be.
                                                Our intrepid journey commences...

EYE Don't See -Part 4-

My heart is beating with upbeat delight
You astound me…in every shape and form
My spirit is dancing with unbreakable might
You surprise me…when you take my hand
And pull me outtah my jail-like dorm

And He dismisses me from my solitude…
My eyes are glistening with bliss…
And I’m far from my demise…
Only to find that there’s no need to feel helpless

Why do you spoil me rotten with your fatherly affection?

Just protect me from any harm
Let me make my own decisions…
To see the results in the long run

You prize me as if I’m cherished like your carefree child
You don’t understand – I’m TOO foolish and wild
I haven’t even reached to full maturity
But how eye hope to see myself grow and be set free
From the world’s mayhem
Is there a solution to this problem?

And I’m left with no answer…
My eyes are eager to see…another bright day
And the night is coming to haunt me…
I find myself slowly disappearing from sight…
When will God give me a purpose to fight?
When will He feed me His awesome might?

Just support me…especially during my downfalls
Please answer my calls!

And I’m left to venture off into His path…

Eye can’t escape my terrible nightmares
Consider my calls of acceptance…my grief weighs a ton
Let me pour forth my tears –
Do me a favor and cast away my fears
Steer me away from disorder and confusion

Eye can see you’re making great progress
You’re heading towards a brighter, superb future…

My eyes
No longer witness oblivion
My eyes
Looks beyond the earthly pain…
bEyOnD the affliction

I spot a rope in the distance. . . . .

Push aside the waves…and let me
Grab it this instant!
God feeds me His love…and treats me
Like a newborn infant!

Eye see my Father with brand-new eyes
I feel rare content
And I feel hardly any resentment

Eye
cherish
that
REMARKABLE
moment

Journey into the Snowy Forest

Striding into the snowy fortress my tepid heart at double time
paces
Entering a pine colonnade sprouting a wintry mane, saddled with
velvety laces
Cloaked with icy needles forming a brittle, hooded trellis
Golden beams seap through the shielded parapet gilding the frosty
mantle with an iridescence
The distant peaks shrouded with the glow of satin evanescence
Following an unmarked, winding trail spurred on by an eery
prescience
My unbridled senses discharged; my tempered spirit for the
mysterious journey braces
A haunting stillness shadows my movements; stealthily my
boundary encases
Shuttered from the outside world and its vapid spaces
Where time is muted and nature's discordant rhythm races
A pristine environment where tendrils caress, limbs bristle, the cold
wind chases
A cloudy fondue swirls overhead and each spiralling steeple
embraces
Squawking squirrels prance freely on the floor without leaving any
traces
Bald eagles glide above the crenelated spires crowning the summit
with their magestic graces
A maverick-cardinal's chirps funnel through the shrouded mist,
temporarily the dreary damper effaces
A Snowy owl crests over the hollowed thickets scanning the tight
nooks and crawl spaces
White-tailed deer cautiously trek through covered thickets, matted
fields which their camouflage erases
Filtering through the blustery labyrinth, an open field the rough
terrain displaces
The broad meadow teaming with yesterday's cares my
adventurous journey replaces
Looking longingly back on my charted path, my bridled heart the
solitary life praises

The Sieve of Time

The Sieve of Time

Cast ashore,
along the banks of time,

whirling through the passing years,
clinging to my futile scribbles set in rhyme,

Cast ashore,
thrust into an unrehearsed pantomime,

clenching slivers of joy as weariness descends,
lulled into a peaceful slumber exhilaratingly sublime.

Cast ashore,
hazily adrift, a dandelion seed on the wings of time,

trapped in the sieve of spiralling memories,
caught between pristine bliss, and reeking slime.

Cast ashore,
flung aside for no discernible crime,

my human heart thuds with elusive hope,
though battered, bruised, and covered in grime,

I stagger ashore,

alone,

embracing each moment of detached, oblivious time.

Distant African Nights

Those Distant African Nights...

1.

The shadows swayed in your candlelit room,

a cool breeze teasing your bare back,

streaks of lightning forked in the Johannesburg night,

as my hands stroked your hair,

kissing your soft mouth,

holding you,

ever so tight.

2.

You whispered that you loved me,

and I kept silent,

the rain fell,
shadows danced,
thunder rolled,

the breeze teased your naked back,

you whispered that you loved me,
as my lips found yours,

the rain washed over our tender nights,

lightning and candlelight,

etching poems on your burnished skin,

yet,

a fear gnawed at me,

deep within.

3.

We parted ways,
and you could never forgive me, you said,

now, after numberless thunderstorms,

the rain that falls,

echo the countless tears that I have shed.

4.

You are long gone,

far away,

happy, I pray,

yet the memories persist,

those precious moments shall never,
ever,

like the Jo'burg rains,
trickle away,

and I wish you well,
for loving me as you did,

for it was I who was not worthy,

then,

and it is I who is not worthy,

now...

5.

You were always true,

it was I who always,

always,

refused to,

to give myself,

completely to you.

Falcon

 As I fly,
miles high,
out across,
the deep blue sky,
I look for prey,
on the forest floor,
as I elegantly soar,
I can spot a hare,
a mile down,
and dive at 100,
to the ground,
I am the acrobat,
of the air,
and the king of the sky,
without a care.

Restore the Walls of Jericho

Blasphemy…cloud over their hearts of gold
Their value gradually diminishes…their weapons turn to mold
Serenity…deserted them and neglected them like orphans
Their joy rapidly wears out…they mislaid their abundant portions

They yearn,
“RESTORE the walls of Jericho!”

Anguish…shadows over their dwelling, sacred place
Their weaknesses manipulate them – they’re the definition of disgrace
Danger…defeats them and tarnished them as if they were worthless
Their prosperity shattered straightaway! REBUILD our merriness!

They plead and pray,
“Dona nobis pacem…”

Hear our hesitation and supplication…we’re beneath the bricks and remains
We’re buried alive literally! We’re becoming one with the ground
Fear and despair erases our soothing dreams…we’re getting washed away in the drains
We’re searching for shelter…we’re getting hunted down – we’re barely surviving

They churn…
They coil…
They drift away…
They spoil…
In their miseries…
Does He hear their pleas?

“SAVE ME!”
“Bestow blessings upon us!”
Are you ignoring us deliberately?
 “Give us a helping hand
And lead us to the promise land!”

Misfortune unravels in this city of bafflement
Their strengths repaired our souls…we’re the definition of bravery!
Desolation and disbelief demolishes the walls of Jericho…
Does anyone sense their resentment?
Their charity transformed to greed suddenly –
Their lack of optimism and gratitude
Buried them down in captivity

How can you bear their poverty?
How can He save them from destruction and pity?

They whisper on His Holy Hill,
“Dona…Nobis…Pacem…”

Don’t let the battle overthrow ’em!

EYE Don't See -Part 2-

My eyes
Refuse to see tragedy
My eyes
Marinate in dread…unable to embrace ecstasy

And I’m left in my solitude…
My eye’s sagging…from endless mourning
And I’m close to my demise…
Only to find myself disappear…
When will peace draw near?

You don’t see
What damage you’ve done
Just let me be
Leave me alone…hand me a gun

I yearn for unspoiled glory
To make me feel perfect once more
I yearn for flawless serenity
To make me feel no regret…don’t ignore
My calls…don’t hang up on me

You don’t see
What damage you’ve done
Just hear my plea
Listen to my excruciating cries…
Listen to the truth, not the malicious lies
Our journey has just begun

And I’m left in my solitude…
Do you hear me weeping?
And I’m close to my demise…
Only to find myself disappear…
When will peace draw near?

Eye can’t handle the stress
Let me release my horrendous distress
Eye can see you making that same mistake
At least MY life isn’t at stake

And I’m left in my solitude…
My eye’s weeping…do You feel my lament
And I’m close to my demise…
Only to find myself disappear…Stepped on like cement
I’m aching with discontent… I abhor this torment
When will peace scrub off my fear?

I can’t believe my eyes
Your guiltiness flows into me…
I can’t believe I fell for your lies
Your heartless action rape my mind…you don’t see
What my EYES see…

You’ll never see
How much pressure you put me under
Unchain me from this chamber
And watch me flee…

When will you be set free?

Faked

I stumble upon a river
the way it flows and feels
I take my shoes off and run threw it
laughing looking up towards the sun
I wake up and it was all just a dream
my sister runs up the stairs
she slams her door
i asked her what was wrong
she looked at me
She says "mom told me you were adopted"
at first i laughed as i thought it was a joke
I run downstairs to see my mom and dad sitting on the couch
"mom?" i say
she replies "its true we adopted you!"
she got up and walked into the kitchen
"after all this time i thought i was yours" i say
My father gets up and walks out the door
My mom lays her hand on her forhead
Just dont worry about it everything will be okay
"No it wont i say"
i felt fake like i wasnt who i was suppose to be
i just sat on my bed thinking about the whole thing
my whole life and who i should have been
I packed my bags that light and i ran away
leaving the less important things behind
i set out on a journey to find my real parents
I had my sister get there info. from my dads office
I took a bus to indiana and looked up there address
As soon as i found it i knocked on the door
A man opened the door
he said "who are you?"
i say "apparently i am your son?!"
"you put me up for adoption?" i repeat

He yells "ANNA!?, Some kid is here for you!"
i repeat the story to her as she denied it
She looked bruised and beaten up
I wanted to help her but the man hut the door on my face

I had no where to go now
So i started on a journey back home
But i never made it there
I found that old river i use to go too
i stayed there for a few weeks until
i remembered the way back.
I found myself that day
I realized that i was fake but now im not because i know that i am just me not any of them

We Search For Direction

In the beginning of plight,
We venture off and take action
Beyond the mysteries of the day and night
We search diligently for safety and direction

The aftermath of our flight
Brought us good luck and success
If we look forward...we'll eventually find light
We must get out of this cave...
Or we'll be stomped on by distress

You're our journey's end
Where is the escape route?
Beyond the present anguish, our spirits will ascend
With God's help, we'll find a way out...
No doubt

Le Vacance Pretentieuse: The Market

Shuffling sandstone, infinite shimmering coloured pots,
TV remotes lie in tandem with jeans, shiny toy robots
Act as magnets to the unwary tourist, conspicuous in
Their presence, shorts and cameras, humid hair in knots.

Spices of hues in their hundreds to make you salivate,
Groaning shack tables of suspicious sunglasses sate
Your appetite for purchases, the sun beats down on
The market, Medina bursting with life which cannot wait.

Eyes flicker over unsuspecting strangers, enticing you
To buy, trapped by the lure of a carpet woven new
By sweating men grasping, chasing any chance to sell
The future. Will you ever use this carved snooker cue?

Our Divine Haven

This town was the place we used to call our haven
You don’t remember which road we’ve driven on
The stars were shining against your cherished soul
You’re a part of my belongings
You’re ascending above the ground
The peace is still like hidden treasure – it’s bound to be found

I believe in you…I put my faith in you
After the miracles you’ve performed
You don’t agree with what you truly are
The sky is grieving
You jump from puddle to puddle
You’re struggling to meet your destiny
Even if your body is saturated in sweat
You must keep your head above the sea

Follow me and I’ll lead you to divine haven
Forgive the past that embraces you with remorse and think upon our jubilant future
It’s tempting to just give up and turn around
I could tell you've been stressing out
But rest your head on my shoulders and let loose your strain on me

Each melody is an exquisite sound that bounces into our ears
Commotion and strife will cease and your heart will be free
We’ll flee together…despite the unwholesome weather
The voyage has just begun…hold my hand and we’ll rise like the sun
Trust me…we will be strengthened and well-equipped before we take that road of victory

Follow me and I’ll lead you to divine haven
Forgive the past that embraces you with remorse and think upon our jubilant future
It’s tempting to just give up and turn around
You’d rather be drifting away and never be seen again
I wanna change your mind and erase your frown
Take your mind off of the distressful past
Let loose your strain on me

Hey! I know you’re stronger than you realize
You’re not a failure – don’t be disheartened
Don’t worry…you and I will earn our future prize
This mess will clear up in a moment
Just stay by my side and never depart
From the light… I promise that we’ll endure till the end
Just stay nearby and our hope won’t tear apart
We are willing to do anything to attain our wishes and delight
Let’s take action and snatch our glory before our time is up

Follow me and I’ll lead you to divine haven
Forgive the past that embraces you with remorse and think upon our jubilant future
It’s tempting to just give up and turn around
You've been trying to keep a steady pace
But rest your head on my shoulders and let loose your strain on me

Let loose your stress on me…
Don’t be under pressure
Let me handle your anxiety…
Reach towards our divine haven
Do you need a helping hand?

I wish you a carefree
Future

To the Weary Traveler

If ever you should find yourself
Lost upon the craggy, mud-strewn trail
Matchless, mapless,
The cloak of sky above you lacking a button of moon
And leaking through,
Sack nibbled to the crumbs
And drink drained dry--

If ever nature-nipped feet
Deem you mishap your way to me,
Mistake me never for your guide.
I am just as damned, just as far astray.
But equally so hapless or no,
I will pat the empty space beside me
And pour half of my canteen into your cup, and
Offer up what's left of the stew
And if you help carry the wood,
I've got some sticks to rub to keep us warm.

We can pass the nights in tent,
Time by swapping stories, every tale another
Skin we shed.
And as we make our way,
I'll be the arm that pulls you to your footing
When the pathway gets too steep
And lend my chewed-through blue umbrella
To ease the onslaught when it pours.
And if the path we know is set in stone
To walk the road unpaved,
I'd take it stride for stride with you
Over the macadamized

Any day;

For what it's worth.

Off to Margaret river

It’s coming up soon, we’ll be going
The all of us going south west
Were going to a place midst the vineyards
Whenever I’m there I feel blessed
We’re going, the whole of our family
Some cousins from England, they too
We’re off to that lush Margaret river
Oh lord I’ll be glad when we do.

I know we are going to enjoy it
There’s the river, the shops and the ocean
And wineries sometimes prove tempting
To some It’s a lovely devotion
To have one or two, or maybe some more
But I’m for me beer, and me cider
But here in this place by the river
My smile it does ever grow wider

Oh yippy I oh, I do love it so
When all of us go off together
We’ll have us a ball, in a wonderful place
It don’t matter what be the weather
I love it when I’m in the country
With nothing to worry about
Except just enjoying, each wonderful day
This shall be, on this have no doubt.

Have You Met Your End

I'm scared...
I'm not prepared...
to meet my end...
to drift into the river's bend...

I'm not prepared...
people start to stare...
people don’t seem to care
If I live or die
If I stay on ground or fly
I see my end...unwind...unwind...and it makes me blind...
The tears that are clogging up my eyes
They’re feeding me lies…and the thoughts whisper cries
I'm treasure...never to be found
Decaying in the ground
Forever...
I'm sorry...I'd never
Mention suicide again to you...
Don't be blue...though you get the clue

I'm not prepared...
people start to stare...
people don’t seem to care
If I live or die
If I stay on ground or fly
I see my past…unwind…unwind…now, I’m blind
But I see it in my mind’s eye

I'm not prepared...
people start to stare...
people don’t seem to care
If I live or die…
Live or die…
Live or die…
But I’ll try…
To live and make you feel happy
‘Cause I, alone, am feeling needy…
Greedy…shady…

I'm not prepared...
people start to stare...
people don’t seem to care
If I live or die…

I’m ready to meet my end…
The waters brew…and my fate blends
In with the gloomy, despairing river's blissful waves
The sky swarms above me…I want to see you
Again…but you’ve met your end

I'm not prepared...
people start to stare...
people don’t seem to care
If I live or die…

I STAYED strong…Where do you belong?
Your life ended like a shimmering star
You ended your tune of delight…I can’t hear your song
Repeat it again and again in my ears…
You left me with an everlasting scar

I'm not prepared...
people start to stare...
people don’t seem to care
If I live or die…
I want to die…just let me fly
And reach to heaven’s height
But, I’d feel guilt and contrite

I'm not scared (of your absence)...
people start to stare...(and I feel dense)
people don’t seem to care (I can’t bear)
If I live or die…(the thought of you, I won’t deny…I’m just trying to play fair)

In my heart…
You broke it apart…
It breaks my heart
To see you die and depart

From His light

Have you met your end
Around or near the river's bend?

Your heart breaks instead of bends
You still have some errands

To run...
You have the ability to run...
Just run...
And don't run off somewhere far away...or I'll consider you officially "gone"
But, first: get your duties done

And then...we can welcome the sun
Don't shoot yourself with a gun...
Put it down and run

WITH ME! *smile*

Through the mist

alone in the midst of hugest white clouds
chilly cold creeps in like thieves in the night
unfeeling ears numbed by frost for all shouts
crippled eyes gaze at a view without sight
floating feet cleave the white ghost which enshrouds
tiny tentacles with snowy white light
conquering on the sly all and sundry
lost ways in the mist's toughest cross country

Life forfeited, Law transgressed

Life forfeited, Law transgressed

Clear morn in which to go hunting today
Indian prepared , went with no long delay
Family of four was hungry with no food
he setting forth in a very anxious mood

Deep into the thickened woods he raced
seeking tracks before the wind erased
Venison was what he desperately sought
his traps were empty with nothing caught!

He was on his favorite hunting trail
thoughts of how he simply must not fail
A deer he across the way did soon spot
carefully he drew his arrow for a shot

Silently and quickly he took his aim
food, precious meat, this wild game
Raised bow with a very quick release
a clear miss, to his awestruck disbelief!

So angry about missing his only shot
no meat today in the empty family pot
Around the next bend he soon did meet
a wolf's rocky den at his weary feet

Peering into that den he clearly saw
a brown movement, a quick swiping paw
Next seeing two pups were quite dead
the last one big and clearly well fed!

The hunter mad in deep and saddened rage
the Great Spirit he offended and enraged
As he took hatchet to kill one lone wolf pup
he emptied mercy from his own sweet cup

Returning wolf pack came before he got away
circled the hunter in every escape pathway
Jaws wide with sharp teeth and wicked stares
the wolfs charged rapidly forward in pairs!

Swiftly biting as the hunter tried in vain
to knock each biting wolf off again and again
The wolf pack had its victim on the ground
right there his mangled body was later found

Indian hunter had transgressed Nature's law
killing a helpless wolf pup sealed his great fall
Mercy and hope had been righteously withdrawn
life forfeited , he never faced another dawn!

Robert Lindley , 06/26/1983

Found this in my second small journal , hidden
under a box of short stories I wrote back then.
Seems on the last few pages I wrote three poems.
This one was finished, the other two look to be
very close to being finished ...
I guess I could list this as a narrative or a rhyme.
Chose not to edit it any way because I signed it
and thus deemed it finished back then..

Lost and Found -unedited version-

Writing a masterpiece
Takes so much effort and thought
My mind’s settling in my comfort zone – feed me with flawless peace
Words seem to escape me…my feelings mean naught

Anger molds me in inside and out…I feel insecure again
Peace barely meets my body
Joy seems to abandon me like an orphan
Faith passed away – it’s buried too far below the debris

Have I lost the race?

Writing a successful book…writing in general
Takes so much confidence and self-control
My mind is stacked up with debt…
Words splinter my tongue – I can’t repair my tarnished soul

Danger is placed in many corners
Happiness is a few blocks away from me
Fearlessness dives into me
Acceptance of who I am – God’s chosen one

Have I won the race?
Have I found His grace?

Mora Piya Ghar Aaya - My Beloved Has Returned Home

Mora Piya Ghar Aaya (My Beloved Has Returned Home)

Autumn:

the leaves fell, as you left, a bleak chill wafting across the barren space within my being,
you left, taking your smile and mine,
my smile rests with you still, leaving a void impossible to fill.

Winter:

pangs of longing consumed me, my only company in the frigid nights,
my tears remain frozen, within,
unable to fall from my broken eyes, as I searched the depths of the cold, harsh skies.

Spring:

birds returned home, though you did not, and I felt soothing rebirth all around,
memories of you began blazing, their embers stoked,
and at last the tears rolled, like ink on this blank notebook, my whole being pined for you, my very self in anguish silently shook.

Summer:

alive I felt again, the promise of the coming cooling rain, easing the heat of desire,
yet the furnace slowly raged inside, your absence tearing into me, shattering my nights, my longing for you soaring unfettered across the skies,
dancing on clouds, blissfully free,

Monsoons:

heaven itself opened, the deluge an unending dream,
rain falling all around, mingling with my flowing tears,
and then I saw you, you returned, and I embraced you, never wishing to let you go,
and though I may wear the mask of the clown,
if you were to leave again,
my very soul, would quietly slip away, and in the monsoon rains, I would gratefully drown.

SPACE

Gaze deeper into the peaceful midnight sky,
aren't the diamond-shaped stars beautiful angels' eyes?
They turn everywhere and with their cheerful smiles,
they immediately hush the loudest baby's cry.

Feel safe when staring at them, awesome thoughts they infuse;
even darkness won't be that scary when you'll dream,
Nature's force will make a gentle breeze blow...
spreading the roses' fragrance as fireflies gleam!
Trust angels that descend with wide wings to bemuse,
never hold back joy when they smile as children and glow.

Imagine being alone in soundless and infinite space,
spinning around as a planet does hanging in awesome and indigo skies,
but as dazed as a scientist discovering a distant place...
you'll think that the diamond-shaped stars are beautiful angels' eyes.

Port of Call

Port of Call

Barefoot on a talcum beach,

alone, not lonely,

with the breath of the ocean a caressing balm,
soothing pained memories away,
to the swaying of a solitary palm.

Barefoot on a talcum beach,

alone, not lonely,

feeling the brushing away of all past turmoil,
on a quest for solace, ever so hard to find,
yet comforted by the crashing of the waves,
as the tide cleanses all pain,
and leaves despair far, far behind.

Barefoot on a talcum beach,

alone, not lonely,

drenched in a sea-breeze of mist,
that hushes the ache of bygone moons,
tasting the salty tang on my lips,
as the burnished sun,
over the distant horizon,
swoons,

and dips.

Barefoot on a talcum beach,

alone, not lonely,

searching, ever searching,
for a slice of solitude,
as memory bids a final adieu,
reaching under the sea so vast,
and seeking comfort in the depths,
while embracing,
the tomorrows to come,
wishing that they be true.

Barefoot on a talcum beach,

alone, not lonely,

seeing my truths drown,
as they slip beneath the turquoise waters,

feeling my heart ablaze,
with a passion that rarely falters.

Barefoot on a talcum beach,

alone, not lonely,

yet knowing that I am home at long last,
wishing the waves would wash away,
the defences that once stood,
like an impregnable wall.

Barefoot on a talcum beach,

alone, not lonely,

I have found, at long last,

my final port of call.

Enigmatic Lane

Enigmatic Lane

This enigmatic lane-
I’ve walked long.
And now I see
Only barren lands,
A mere setting sun,
And a vague horizon.

I turn to look back
Along this enigmatic lane.
And then I see
Those umpteen vicissitudes,
Those sudden meanders,
Those familiar turns,
Those abrupt detours.

Down this enigmatic lane,
There have been
Many a rich meadows,
Many a bleak wastelands,
Millions of pompous marches,
Millions of disconcerting dirges,
Several comforts of love,
Several cruelties of reclusion.

Along this enigmatic lane
I may no longer tread, for-
As I now halt, I ponder-
Perpetuation has always been
The ruse of fleeting phases,
And what worth has it been
To walk this enigmatic lane.

A Letter To Robert Frost

               A letter To Robert Frost
Dear Mr. Frost or Bob, as the occasion might be lent
We are happy to report a world still turning wild
There are still two roads divergent in the woods
Prevailing, waiting for others to decide
You took the one less traveled
To make a difference as you could
We continue to abide convergent roads
Comply with natures inclinations as our maze
Pulled in some direction not always ours
As for that world that did not die
It did not perish in fire or by ice
As you postulated quite nicely
Both would have equally sufficed
We are in a different place and time
Protecting ages and ages hence in your defense
We will never meet again in fire or in ice my friend

                                                                 6/06/14 Contest: Letters To Poets

Saturday Rain in Johannesburg

Saturday Rain in Johannesburg…

…With sighs of torrential passion,
the heavens shower teardrops,

weeping with me,
as memories of you come cascading back,

skin on skin, ablaze,
moist kisses, fiery,
gentle whispers of undying love, murmured,

in another life, another time,

far removed from my present, a desolate state of despair,
wallowing in the grime.

…

The rain keeps falling,
each teardrop stinging my face,

tasting the salt on my lips,

I wonder, do you still remember the caresses of my fingertips,

between breathy confessions, and vows of eternal love,

before you left me, stranded on an island of solitude,

wounded as a wingless dove,

bereft of life,
stripped of all traces of fortitude

The Path

Oh, long ago secluded path
On through the green wood ambled

Winding, winding evermore
   Through brush and forest bramble

By stream and silent meadow
   Its onward course did wind

Forward, forward deep
   This path of no mankind

Reporting Live on the Soup - Alaska

"Phew! got here in time to catch The Glacier Discovery Train. This journey is to be seen
to be believed. I am in Anchorage, Alaska. I am so out of breath running to the station.
Right, that's the film crew seated. We have all looked out of a train window anticipating
the journey ahead, lets enjoy"

"We are heading to our first stop called Girdwood. Originally called "Glacier City", it
was founded as a supply camp for placer gold miners. The gold being found in creeks
feeding the Turnagain Arm. Disaster struck the town in 1964 when the Good Friday Quake
struck. Due to subsiding, the town was moved 2.5 miles up the valley"

"OK, back to the journey guys. The next 12 miles takes us towards the port of Whittier.
This wonderful stretch captures what Alaska and Canada is all about. Be sure to look out
for the salmon in the streams as we chug on. Whittier is the stopping point for many
passengers today, where they will become lucky passengers on the day cruisers or even
better going on a fishing charter"

"We are now not far from the Placer Valley. Having left the mainline 12 miles back, we are
now back on track. This area is only accessible by train, which tells you the barrenness
of this wonderful state, country. Before we stop at Spencer Glacier you will see several
spectacular glaciers. The deep ice in these blue gems goes back thousands of years, but
sadly modern man has speeded up their melt. If you were to go camping here, one would
have to be so careful. The wildlife is second to none, with bear, moose, coyotes and
wolves. If you do venture here folks, always remember you are in their domain. So be safe"

"Ah! Spencer Glacier, this place is the future for back country playground themes. Having
formed a partnership with the U.S. Forest Service. Passengers can disembark, go on a
1.5-mile hike with a Forest Service Ranger. The highlight is being taken up close to a
glacier, not many of you watching will ever come close to a glacier. If you do, it's
something else"

"We are now leaving Spencer on the last leg of our journey. You can feel the gravity as we
climb towards Grandview. We will be heading into some short tunnels, and once we are
through them, the beauty is spell-bounding. The Kenai Mountain's with lush meadows is a
sight to see. Waterfalls fed by glacial runoff as snow-melt cascades over ancient cliffs,
wow!"

"Well viewers, I hope you have enjoyed the journey"

"This is Jacques Pasquinel reporting live for the soup on The Glacier Discovery Train"

A Beautiful Downfall

                                   Silver snowflakes in the sky
Sparkle with grace as they pass me by,

Bound by gravity they’re forced to lie
Never having the ability to resist and fly,

Drifting from heaven in such sorrowful grace
Fated to land, to fall on its face,

When its slow fall stops and its place is held
It will soon break and surely meld,

                     Losing its independence and uniqueness
When it lands on earth it becomes something less,

Most are destined to end in a blaze
Some broken apart by a gentle graze,

After this subtle fall of a fragile snowflake
All it can have is what it can take

                                           Always wanting for more
                                           Always wanting for something…

It never arrives at that shore
                                      It always has nothing…

An Every Day Journey

In childhood innocence learning to walk,
A journey begins on open pathway,
And the minds seeks the beauty in a day,
Embracing joy and facing problems strife,
Open the ears now to hear nature talk,
The guiding hand on this journey of life.

Sponge

Its effects run in you
Always through you
And when you’re not careful,
It can go all the way down
If you clench it hard enough
It almost squeezes back
Ripping at your everything.

In the moment it wrenches you
And you play dead for a while
Until you’re back to reality
And it releases your smile.
It’s not as bad as you thought
You’re not as bad as you thought.
Squeeze yourself,
Releasing all that needs to be said and done
Tempt yourself
For you’re not the only one.

Inside it feels like heaven
And you’re tempted to look inside
If you do, you’ll have to rip at it
Is the cost worth the price for knowledge?
It’s opened…
You see everything
But like a child, the gift of sight is blinding
You’re scared of this new beauty
You can’t understand
There’s an adjustment with time
And you feel alive.
If you accept it’s will
The rest will come full circle,
Don’t lose your battle
For the worst thing that comes
Is happiness, beyond good judgment…

Scream Attentions only to Yield

I'm feeling like I've lost my sons for i have failed as a mother-
I'm on the verge of becoming white as snow
for I am trying to pull my life back together
but taking the path to a darkness road, I'm walking slow
I have fail
to not have the emotions to feel hate for those to reign on my angry rage
I have not seen any whales,
to swim along side by side, for I haven't been on the right track of the page
I have dreams that I wished to make it comes true
but the fearful shadows of the streets nothing but loniliness is a road to be in more danger
Can't you see, the reason to open your eyes for what the life has brought you a passionate
lover standing right in front of you?
been lost, alone in a cold air chilled my spine of my soul
is heartbroken with tears than making peace and the sweetest amends to those I would called
the darkest spirit; dressing like one of the gothic strangers.
Do i finally have a big chance to be warm when I sleeps at the quiet nights?
Am i thinking too seriously when i looked ahead of the way I'm living on earth?
do you see that i now have a smile of feeling the thrills and delight?
Have i reached the pit filled with flaming fire as my awakening desire waiting for you to lay me
down in the jungle, on the sand and a place where i will no longer get hurt?
if only I can stop thinking that i will live for there is more karmas will soon come back and make
be the day of getting worse;
I have tried to be loving for everyone who deserved to have the the gentle touch of my devotion
for all eyes and bodies to see-
being a lost, and lonely treasure,
I have lost all of my reasons for me to be okay and to breathe
for i have created the passionate dream of my fulfilled pleasures
as long as i stop telling myself that i am a failure woman,
while im walking with no stones of black fire..
i feel that i am no longer 100% human,
for the hunger and the willingness of becoming the tiger-; waiting to pounce for a long time
with the fate in me is getting tired.
I can take you down
as my fiesty side of a white tiger has finally step out...
this isn't a joke, like you would care if u ever show your face around
let it be heard, as i scream my roar
for i am mighty proud to give it a fearful shout-
but beware, as this will be your only caution: i will make you weak, and sores
for never again will the blue-eyed white tiger will show any signs or weakness that i fail
i will survive
as you just became my slave,
for the hunger in me is alive.

Truth Begins at the Corner

Remember to always make sure to bless the days that you are given, because they are few, and beauty only lasts so long!
Hold tight my fair wonderer, your day will come. I will be with you again.
The lost soul of your childhood still roams the crevices of your forgotten past.
The unrestrained faith in the wonders of the woods, the vastness of the cosmos, and the darkness of the night still lingers beneath the rough waters of maturity and age.
Come with me again my friend and lose yourself in the joy of the unknown, the unplanned, and the chaos of a life on fire! I can take you there, if only you let go!
Be with me, take part of me with you, and feel the self that we are. Perfect in spoiled admiration of instincts lost since the time I awoke without you.
The id consumes you with a savage passion, while the ego ever so gently licks the tears from your wounded breast.
My mind strives to unbutton the layers of worldly impurities until I reach your core. Pure as the first light we accepted into our virginal eyes.
Wrapped in body and blindness, our forms ached as we accepted this gift. As we unfolded into light, a passionate awakening of nature stirs the breath and frightens the senses, the initiation of spirit begins.
I long to stay. The only I there is in this ephemeral abyss. I loathe all blessings bestowed upon my eye, but the light penetrates with ruthless contempt for all we have created, harshly illuminating the disparities of night and day, nature and nurture, love and death, you and I.
I curse the light, and in desperation implore for the beginning to come to an end. For now I see you, and now I know…...you never were.

Seed Of Love

Tiny seeds germinate
Fresh roots sprout
New life is born!
The weeds come for free
As every beautiful rose
Has it's thorns!
Growing tall, against all odds
Growing towards the light
Laying our roots deep
Staying strong, yet flexible
We are a tree of life
Or the seed in the ground
We are 'one' of the same!

The Swaying of the Grass

1.

A path leads,

to where wild grass grows,

sashaying in the summer breeze.

2.

Along the path,
lightness settles within,

feeling the grass,
swooning,
tickling ankles,

swaying to the lilting bird-song,

in a dance of intimate abandon,

brushing the remnants of pain away.

3.

Melodies float across fields of green,

delicately caressing my heart,

teasing emptiness to flee,

comforting the mind,

to silently be.

4.

Walking on,
savouring the peace,

a momentary respite,
from the burdens of the now,

all is quiet,

a stillness cradling fractured emotions,

the grass in the fields sway,

dusk descends,

shadows lengthen,

nudging dimming light to take leave,

of the day

Happiness is only real when shared

I fell in love with the way the sun weighed on my shoulders
while the sweet Alaskan air tore at my skin
I fell in love with the innocent song of birds and the quiet marching of ants
I fell in love with the serenity of the lakes, the mystic of the moon and the bright stars in the night sky
I fell in love with the intimidation and secrecy of the trees, the sharp caress of pine needles
I fell in love with the gentleness of the snow, the purity of the way it veiled every branch
I fell in love with each every jagged rock, in all their density and seriousness
I fell in love with the powerful echo of my own exclamation
I fell in love with that beautiful bus, the most serene of shelters, the only thing that I will ever call home
I fell in love with the admirable coexistence of peaceful animals
I fell in love with the lush abundance of green and the organic beauty of dark soil
I fell in love with the wilderness, the untouched garden of Eden, the seductive charm of unadulterated nature,
I fell madly in love with it all.
But I fell in love alone.
Perfection of this magnitude deserves to be known by every single man.
I made the mistake of over looking the fact
that happiness,
is only real when shared.

Moonlight delight

We crested 30 thousand feet as I watched the clouds pass by.
To a full moon sonata,
wrapped up in my mind.
Cotton ball clouds shimmering frosted white of moonlit dazzle to my eyes.
An ocean of rolling cloud tops,
Hover as I pass by.
Off in the distance bright orange and yellow collide,
as flashes of sprites leave the earth,
to a darkened midnight sky.
The awesome inventor of this great scene,
the painted pleasures my eyes have seen.
Makes me wonder on this red eyed flight
How many know such amazing delight.

Primrose Blossom

A sapling restrained from its dirt prison
Wanting to sail across the vast seas
Yearning for liberation

Rain brew in the mighty sky
The little sapling endured valiantly
The sporadic growth of the sapling now on tie

Tempest devoured by the radiant sun
Absorbing nutrients from the sun’s jubilance
The days till maturity became none

The petals of the primrose began to blossom
A majestic scent pervaded the boundless air
The options veered from lean to awesome

Spain, Germany, Belgium, and France
Foreign mountains, towers, and customs
Now in sight from the blossom dance

To Die

Don't cry for me, I've only just died. And yes, I know you tried and tried
But the life ends and hearts do mend. Now I'm the atoms that war and love can never defend.
A universe spinning all around and now I'm home, I'm found.
Its the pain that goes away for me but I'm not a forgotten memory, don't you see?
It's all around us that life is a gift but the death is the return to the love in the universe and beyond - Beyond the burn and concern of the world and the horrors that are done in turn.
So reject the pain and celebrate with me for my death, like yours will be, was a certainty.
But not of lost life but of the chance to be free. Not now but you'll one day agree. So lay aside the regret don't fret the time is now for livin' and later comes the dyin' but please no cryin' Let the tears be for you not for me that one day you too can become free in the dust, in the air and travel everywhere without a care while mourners stare and enemies glare.
To Die is no dream it's a return to the love in the universe and beyond - Beyond the burn and concern of the world and the horrors that are done in turn.

Blissful Ladakh

Beyond the world lies a journey,
a horizon that acquaints a magical destiny,
a solitude with soulful eternity,
a milieu abiding betrothal vicinity,
where deity is within the eyes
and the faith adobe vivid smile.

Beyond the human lies a viability,
a nascence that exhale a verse amorously,
a spirit with blissful sovereignty,
an admirer beaconing Elysian itinerary,
where deity is seen solely,
to a hermit heart wallowing ethereally.

Make Things To Destroy

Make Things To Destroy

I make things only to destroy them
To build them again
It’s better that way

Velocity of life permits such undertakings
To point at others would only cause a point back

In the end
To what?

A blazing sky settles over what was once land

Looking up

Indications are
The swirl of stars
Other unknowns
Out there
In larger part
At their own command

In degrees, objects form
Not just stories

By now
It must be time
To make something work
Perhaps this is the moment
Or something like it
To start again

I make things only to destroy them
To build them up again
And End

PERCEPTION OF PERFECTION

PERCEPTION OF PERFECTION
A PERFECT LINE DOES NOT EXIST IN NATURE
THERE IS NO PERFECT SHAPE
YET NATURE IN ITSELF IS FLAWLESS
HOW CAN THIS BE WHEN OUR PERCEPTIONS
OF PERFECTION IS BASED ON STRAIGHT LINES, SMOOTH EDGES, AND CLOUDLESS
SKIES?
WHAT MAKES NATURE SO BEAUTIFUL
SO GENUINE AND TRUE
ARE THE CROOKED LINES, JAGGED EDGES, AND FLUFFLY CLOUDS THAT LINGER ABOVE
RIVERS HAVE DESTINATIONS
BUT THEY DON’T HESITATE TO TRICKLE DOWN INTO STREAMS ALONG THEIR WAY.
AS RIVERS JOURNEY TO THE SEA, SO DO THE WINDS JOURNEY THROUGH THE AIR
CARVING MOUNTAINS, CREATING SCULPTURES SO GRAND THAT NO DUPLICATION
COULD EVER BE MADE
NATURE’S CREATION
FLAWLESS RERALLY
THE WIND HAS NO DESTINATION, ONLY PURPOSE.
AS WE SPEND MOST OF OUR LIVES MOVING FROM POINT “A” TO POINT “B”
TO POINT “A” AGAIN, IT ALMOST SEEMS…POINTLESS
WE ARE EITHER LIKE THE RIVER OR LIKE THE WIND
EITHER WAY…WE HAVE A PURPOSE ©

Reminiscences

A time for rest,
a time for enjoyment,
in order to keep our mind at peace,
we venture out,
in search for something quite special indeed,
these are known as memories,
in order to keep these memories as lively as possible,
we tend to travel afar,
finding a number of ways to preserve these,
especially the good ones though,
but elaborating on a number of these would exceed the pages indeed,
so keeping in short,
the travel to the Himalayas,
is what I can think of,
the elegance and the beauty of the place ,
keeps on registering in my mind from time to time,
how I wish to spend my time in there,
but a voice calls me back,
for it’s not yet time to rest in here!!

Twilight Stroll Through the Jading Copse

The sun in its melancholy phase
dazed swirls, sun dial spinning
Pale moon but a mere shadow
empty ball, psychedelic haze

Into the bleary copse I tread
for a twilight detox of sorts
nerves on end, psyche suspends
light with shadows, a disco portends

Blipping pulses of light filter down
the pin pricks cause vertigo,
as disoriented interloper, stagger
through the bifurcated maze

Bristling limbs tap their snare drums
dissonant rhythms, arrhythmia creeps
swaying arms shroud every move
Damocles' sword swaggers o'er my head

The ground's tangled web straddles
my feet; jagged stumps, fibrous roots,
slippery Lichens harrow each quaking step
the seismic swell rises to my shaken core

An eerie wind serenades my imagination
grainy outlines appear in the distance
wispy figments dance in the shadows
above, silted holograms prance through trees

Picking up the pace, now double time
my lagging adrenaline to prime
shedding my sensory shield
my naked soul conquers the tempest

Fidalgo Island

Fidalgo Island
'All grown-ups were once children...but only few of them remember it.' – Antoine de Saint-Exupéry in The Little Prince
When we were kids, we agreed that Guemes and Cypress looked like a boa digesting an elephant on some days, and on others when the fog would roll in, the Loch Ness. On the worn crumbled steps of the amphitheater, we gazed at the horizon dotted with islands, sails and orca fins and breathed in the air of moss-cedar damp and sea spray, as time disappeared into campfire smoke and whispering wind. But as the years rolled by we forgot about Fidalgo Bay. We traded fog horns and seagulls for honking cars and whining motor bikes, the salty breeze for an asphalt mirage that reminds us of the mirrored surface of calm seas, the shining waves around the boa and the elephant we left behind. Someday, when our backs are hunched and our legs need a cane, we’ll go back to a time of gray mists and steady rain.

Eerie voices
Creeping around corners and eaves
Laughing and whispering
Their promise of the coming storm

Howling frustration at the trees
That grasp but can not hold
Tearing leaf from limb as it passes

Turbulent passage
Through alleyways and streets
Spiraling into devils
Against all who dare resist

Carried away
With reckless abandon into the night
And blowing straight to the sea
To rejoice as a gale
To finally be free

I'll have to say,
a wonderful start,
to a beautiful day,
with the sky so blue,
and the glistening snow,
with it's shades of hue,
it may be only 20 degrees,
but the spectacular view,
will surely please,
with the thundering rockies,
and enormous pines,
and the wild animals,

can steal your heart,
you'll realize it,

GOETHE'S PATH

The lovely, purple hyacinths
adorn both sides of the ginger and narrow path,
protected by the tallest firs,
they greet the travelers who fear the storm's wrath.

Many have ridden this long path leading to a town with a small, cozy inn:
mighty kings whose malicious intent was conquest,
humble monks who preached the Gospel to anyone who purged in sin;
all weary travelers stopped there to eat and rest.

I am traveling the same path with a backpack leaving a trial of deep footprints;
it's a long journey that'll end up by late noon or sunset,
will all footprints be erased by rain, will they be remembered in sad refrains?
On my return, any beauty seen will have vanished as mist.

The Journey I Make

This journey of mine began before I knew it
The journey of my coming into this world
My journey here started from conception
From the coming together of two soul mates
From their loving conjugal coitus relationship.

My earliest movement was from my father's loin
After the deposit in the tube I moved to the womb
I bubbled in growth in my mother's womb
Survived the journey from zygote to foetus
Then through the boundaries of two worlds.

My journey through infancy was with tender care
My adolescence journey was with so much love
I journeyed through teenage years with direction
My early adult journey with discipline & guidance
Full adulthood journey still had parental strings.

Though the adult journey is still my will to make
This journey's decision and consequences all mine
Giant strides I would endeavour in this journey
So that when at last my journey comes to an end
There wont be any regrets of footsteps not taken.

Canoeing The Mississippi - Part 6

Like a young girl, early river is inviting,
Charms a plenty, but surprising secrets,
We imagined potential rapids around every corner,
A new born fawn and doe caught drinking,
Whole families of hatchling ducks,
So curious we could have fed them,
Greeting silent canoe as larger ‘mother.' (8)

Further down the river, older cousins
More attentive to true mother's warnings,
Disappeared as if by magic (under water)
Foraging lessons adapted to defense now,
Dandelion seeds moving with the current
Scattered by a child's loving breath and wish
A river's view of duck development.

A magic too in river's meanders -
Sometimes they cut into each other
So that one loop votes itself out of action
Becoming obsolete to river flow,
And wild rice growing there filters even more
The rich loam carried by cloud burst erosion
Always looking for a quiet place to call home.

Poet's Notes:
(8) In Nature there is something called the ‘Imprinting Process' where young animals like ducks will follow what ever large animal presents itself if the real mother is absent for some reason. I think that this first group of hatchlings actually thought our canoe was their mother for a short period of time.

Canoeing The Mississippi - Part 3

Perhaps halfway to Bemidji we met a cleaning crew
Removing fallen trees but it helped us little
As they had only just started when we saw them.
The riverbed was much lower than fields it cut
So our vision was mostly of what lay ahead.
There must have been hidden springs though
For the water soon was deeper than our oars.

We really had no way to measure progress,
But pressed hard knowing Holly was waiting,
The evening of the third day, cooler ice intact,
And air temperatures over 40 Degrees,
Camped in pastures, no signs of human dwellings
Our propane stovetop making cooking easy,
With clouds of friendly gnats, shielding us from sun! (4)

Four and one half long days after departure
The first signs of ‘manfall' lessened guilt
As we crossed under a modern bridge,
My sister in beach front motel, called police.
Planes had been flying the river for two days
But the tree cover there hid us from view…
Food, baths, and bed capped perilous undertaking! (5)

Brian Johnston
October 21, 2014

Poet's Notes:
(4) This line reminds me of a letter I sent to my mother when I was teenager putting up hay stacks to feed cattle in the winter in South Dakota. I mentioned the friendly gnats in her letter too and talked about how much money I was saving on sun tan oil but complained that there were so many that they blocked out the sun completely so that I could not get a tan! But then I added that, in spite of this, I really didn't mind the gnats because they protected me from large flying red ants!
(5) My sister was so worried by our late arrival that search and rescue planes were sent out flying the river in search of our bodies! Ha!

Never-Never Land

I stare out into this huge blue Sea,
And the waves, well, they just carry me.
My mind drifts so far away,
Because the Ocean is where I lay!
I’m off to never-never land once again,
So take my hand and let this journey begin!
I listen carefully to the Oceans roar,
The waves, well they just help me soar.
My mind relaxes with my day,
Because the Ocean is where I always lay!
I’m off to never-never land on a hunch for so much more,
So take my hand and let’s find new places we can both explore!
I can see blue water with big fluffy white rolls,
Waves, well they just capture my entire soul.
My mind just helpless with my day,
Well, it is the Ocean where I lay!
Off in never-never land I can always see,
A gigantic Ocean covering over me!
Far away in never-never land near the Ocean is where I always lay.
Lifeless in the sand is where I’ll always be.
So take my hand and be lifeless with me in the sand.
Together, just you and me on our journey to never-never land,
Just lifeless in the sand, together you and I and always we’ll be hand in hand!

Canoeing The Mississippi - Part 7

Oh let me sing of the river's people
No, not holiday boaters, but those rare few
Whose homes and hearts embrace the river,
Trafficking in all that she so blithely carries.
Backyards a port of entry for wayward canoeists
Seeking naught but groceries and Dr. Peppers,
Well, maybe an occasional Dairy Queen as well.

Dinners, showers, homes left open, conversations,
Tales of those who came before, war stories,
Worn proudly as they counted victory and loss as well,
Fodder of a life well lived, trophies of significance
Those who wrote to thank them, those who didn't.
I see now too that I myself was not grateful enough,
The safety of a home's backyard is holy ground.

Once as dusk was stooping lower
River banks loomed high above us
Blocking view of a good night's campground
I spied tire tracks suggesting boat ramp
And pulled ashore to check it out.
Found above game warden's yard and home.
He drove us 30 miles to replace used camera film. (9)

Poet's Notes:
(9) The hospitality and generosity of the Minnesotan people we met on this trip was for me almost beyond belief. We truly were treated like celebrities.

Canoeing The Mississippi - Part 9

Chapter 9: Portaging Older Dams

Eleven Minnesota dams we had to portage
All without clear use for folks today
But as the Mississippi is a ‘navigable’ river.
Owners are required by law to transport boats
Around these artificial barriers to ‘commerce’
And ‘social intercourse’ (like our canoe.)
This can make the dam owners hard to find!

Most of these dams backed up water only
For short distances, historic nuisances today,
Maintained only now to prevent further damage
To the altered ecosystem they themselves created,
A rare incidence of business being held responsible.
Or a clever ruse to avoid the real clean up costs?
It’s hard to trust that anyone alive is not ‘Me! Me! Me!’

But the owner’s of the dam with the three mile
Impassible boulder field below it won our praise.
A pickup was sent with two strong men
Who picked up the canoe gear and all,
Slipped it into the back, and tied it down.
Within an hour we were back in the water,
Paddling downstream with the current.

Canoeing The Mississippi - Part 5

'Camp Chippewa, ' its tennis and rifle range, X-Class sailing,
And classic 'Old Town' canvas covered wooden canoes,
Not the low-class aluminum canoes of a 'Camp Thunderbird.'
Cass Lake - garden of the Mississippi's hidden currents,
Nature's setting for Star Island's fresh blue berry thickets,
Brisk, though swimmable waters, still safe to drink.
Cass Lake - child of the first dam, city sewage dumped below.

Kathy and I were warmly received by Chippewa's staff,
And given a hot meal and tour by the owner's son.
Though it was too early for the new season's initiates,
The rustic setting and friendly staff made us feel at home.
Early afternoon found us approaching the dam's spillway,
Though Kathy thought me crazy, we unloaded the canoe,
And I paddled it alone through the one open gate, YAAHOO! !

How many dreams can you remember coming true?
This whole trip was a waking dream, a gift for me,
Including having a wife who was willing to share it.
Miles of river already, dust shaken from our gunnels,
Adventures of the days to come hanging like a white sheet
Strung between trees in an unwired, impoverished village,
Only imagination powers the projector of what can be. (7)

Poet's Notes:
(7) This wonderful image is the child of an experience from my American Peace Corps experience in East Africa. Once a month a VW Van would show up in even the most remote villages and they would hang up a white sheet across ‘main street' and show ‘free' older movies to the locals like ‘Tarzan, The Ape Man.' Villagers thought that Tarzan was quite a funny, if stupid guy. You don't talk to monkeys you eat them! Of course, then, between every reel, there would be ten minutes of hard core advertising for everything from toothpaste to cigarettes to alcohol and always girls hanging on the arm of the man buying these products! I always assumed that advertisers paid for these monthly films but I do not know that to be true.

Canoeing The Mississippi - Part 1

Overflow of the waters of Lake Itaska
You carry your wealth to the waiting world,
Mighty Mississippi, half savior, half sewer,
Plant and animal wastes, dissolved minerals,
Venting prairie deluge, dividing a Nation,
Exposed aquifer of Great Plains, home of Buffalo ghosts,
And their equally threatened ancestor, the prairie dog.

Standing at your mouth I can wade your depths,
Even jump your width in places,
Though it is more difficult than the boy imagined,
And the winter's overgrowth problematic.
Your lightning like flash across the land (1)
Has haunted my dreams the whole of my life
And pulled at my soul like the moan of distant trains.

Now I am here at last, my dream becoming liquid,
Wooden oars, tent, canoe and provisions waiting,
Dr. Peppers stored in a sturdy ice chest.
I am more than ready to see the world through your eyes,
And to meet the sea as well in your company (if fate allows.)
My wife a novice and myself not much more,
We launch ourselves, glissando (2) toward New Orlean.

Brian Johnston
Sept. 19, 2014

Poet's Notes:
Everything in this poem is true as I can best remember. I was 28 at the time and my wife Kathy was 24 so it has been a few years ago that we did this. The eight chapters so far are not the end of this poem. I have at least 3 more chapters planned, one on portaging around dams, one on going through locks (beginning in Minneapolis-St. Paul) , one on leaving the river after traveling over 1,000 miles in 7.5 weeks, and then a final clean up including lessons learned and post trip consequences.

(1) 'lightning like flash' - I was imagining here how much the path taken by the Mississippi across the land actually resembles a lightning bolt's flash across the sky to earth.
(2) glissando - A musical word meaning a gradual sliding (transition) in tone from one note to the next note on the musical scale.

Canoeing The Mississippi - Part 13

Chapter 13: Leaving the River

Our leaving the river I think surprised us both,
But the seeds were sown early in our preparations,
And shared philosophy of following our bliss,
Simply stated, the trip stopped being fun,
Prairie du Chien, Iowa, was just where it happened,
Three days of an unending slow drizzling rain
That wet our spirits and soaked us through.

To save weight our small canvas pup tent just held
Our cold weather Coleman zip together sleeping bags,
Lightweight down bags and backpacker’s tents,
Unknown to us if even available in 1968.
Room to stand up in a lightweight tent
With rain proof over fly to keep tent walls dry,
A luxury we had not even dreamed of

The river’s two-mile width cut pleasure in half
As now only events on one bank could be viewed
The opposing bank so distant as to be non-existent
The river’s reality imposing itself on our desires. (1)
Adventures are not something that you stumble into
A sadness or a great joy that life thrusts upon you
No, adventures are the imagination that you bring to life!

Brian Johnston
October 31, 2014

Poets’s Notes:
Although this is the final stanza of the poem it is possible that additional stanzas will be added before I am through with it. In particular I want to write a stanza #12 on Harvesting Wild Rice. This is pretty much a local event but at one time outsiders properly equipped could participate as well if they had a license and the proper equipment.

(1) Reality always imposes limits on imagination and our imaginations are never really as free as we might like to believe. Some circular logic here I imagine. Ha! Because we live in this reality though, we are usually unaware of how constrained our imaginations are, like a fish trying to imagine living outside of the water that defines its life. Pretty difficult!

The very word adventure carries with it a suggestion of thrill, danger, unexpected happenings, etc., all closely connected with pleasure and pain. Even defeat teaches us valuable lessons for the future. Those who only follow the easy course in life may be safer, but my guess is that they are also more bored and boring.

Finding life to be a pleasurable adventure may even be independent of the paths you chose, having much more to do with the possibilities that you are open to on your path. Imagination is one key to a well lived life. Give yours a chance! Adventure happens when you embrace your own life, when you choose it, ideally even own it. Disaster is what happens when you absolve yourself of any responsibility for what has happened to you.

Canoeing The Mississippi - Part 8

Every journey worth its salt has rocky places
Bank to bank filled with frothing white water,
The economics of avoidance, steering a lean course,
Avoiding higher peaks that thrill - vouchsafed to others.
Rest days taken during times of lower water
Even portaging some sections altogether,
Below one dam a three mile jumble of boulders.

Only one stretch really caught us napping.
Truth be told it really had me worried,
But knowing that we were riding higher water
I steered as best I could between foaming protrusions
That prudence whispered likely hid a rock.
Just once, as I recall, we grounded on gravel bar,
But I pushed us off before current turned us broadside. (10)

Minnesota's rollicking Mississippi is a charmer,
And many State Campgrounds court her boundaries,
Some even have hot water showers and manicured sites,
But a pall of mosquitoes infests more timbered parks
That no wind short of a tornado has the power to disperse,
We ate our evening meals under beekeeper's hats and nets,
It is funny when mosquitoes dive bomb cooling plates of food.

Poet's Notes:
(10) This is a real danger for a canoe in a rapid. A canoe that turns broadside to the rushing water can be rapidly filled with water and swamped.

Canoeing The Mississippi - Part 10

Chapter 10: Modern Dams & Locks

A highpoint of our whole trip, a lock and dam,
Originally St. Anthony Falls in Minneapolis - St. Paul.
Can you imagine how Spanish explorers felt
Entering California’s Golden Gate for the first time?
It lay undiscovered for over two hundred years
Of coastal exploration by the Spanish,
Seen first by hunters on a land expedition in 1769!

First completed in 1963, this amazing lock,
56 X 400 feet long, drops your boat over 49 feet.
When we pulled the chain signal above the lock,
Two men came out to look over a concrete wall
Because they could not see us from the control room.
When they saw our tiny canoe, they had hysterics,
And then let us go through the lock by ourselves.

The heavy upstream gates closed and then
The water underneath us started churning
As valves were opened that let out the water
On the downstream side, and sky above us
Disappeared as if we were descending to hell.
Normally one would have to wait until the lock
Was full of small boats, once again we were royalty.

Canoeing The Mississippi - Part 4

Extra weight no longer a problem for shallow water,
We bulked up for the next leg of our journey,
Water containers, even some canned goods
An acceptable luxury in our seventeen foot canoe,
A canvas topping lashed everything in securely,
Offered some weather proofing for sensitive gear,
Our sleeping bags, some staples, and clean clothing.

Cameras were kept in waterproof pouches
That stayed within easy reach of paddlers,
Fishing rods and car mounts for the canoe,
In case we burned out, topped the load,
With ice chest and Dr. Peppers easily accessible.
In high spirits we set out on the next leg,
Destination Cass Lake's Boy's Camp Chippewa.

I had traveled this leg before as a twelve year old,
By canoe, but with less luxury, until Bemidji,
Where each of our crew went to a late movie,
And downed a Paul Bunyan Special banana split
One banana and seven scoops of ice cream,
Camp four miles across open water long after dark,
With only a fire on a distant shore to guide us home. (4)

Poet's Notes:
(4) People die pulling stunts like this. In fact strong winds arose forcing us to shore shortly after we started, light rain and lightning flashes high in the sky! We had to pull our canoes wading in the dark along the shore for 3 hours to reach our camp. Our counselors pledged us all to secrecy for they would have been fired had management known the danger they put us all in.

Canoeing The Mississippi - Part 11

Chapter 11: The Problem with Lakes

Canoes and larger lakes don’t mix well I’m afraid,
The rough equivalent of a margarita and a toothpick.
On the Mississippi a lake means a dam somewhere,
The scenic route buried now under dam water
Its prurient writhing now veiled from prying eyes
By puritanical hedonists more interested in flood control
And water reserves, than glacial art or Sculptor’s knife of water.

The placid appearance of a lake is modern quicksand
For a loaded canoe with its low running boards,
The wake of pleasure craft the worst as dilettantanti
In power’s limits, rush to greet you, cameras flashing.
The huge commercial barges pushed by true power craft
With opposing twin screws, create almost no wake at all,
But neither can they stop on a dime, so best stay clear.

Many Mississippi lakes cannot be seen across
And though the shortest path from entrance to egress
May be obvious to you, it may not be the wisest choice.
A day’s weather can change in minutes, who’s to warn you,
And some lakes can take hours to cross, what’s Plan B?
You’ve no flight plan, the lake may be deserted, who’ll miss you,
And a sudden wind’s waves on a large lake can kill you.

Canoeing The Mississippi - Part 2

Deliberately provisioned light on our departure,
Bemidji, Minnesota, is our first port of call.
Though eighty miles by river's reckoning,
This first stretch is an annual competition
That canoeing experts make in one day,
But my sister, concerned about our safety,
Vows to wait for us three days there.

First days were slower than expected,
Trees were down requiring portage,
Small bridges also posed a problem,
Unpacking, carrying canoe around obstacle,
Then repacking, before paddling once more,
Light snow danced as we made camp,
Those first nights well below freezing mark.

It's not a well known fact, but mosquitoes
In Minnesota snort anti-freeze in the local gyms,
As a part of their pre-season training. (3)
However their proboscis' cannot get through
A two inch thick down jacket except at seams,
Which creates matching patterns on one's back,
When campers forget to spray clothing too..

Passage

Day has passed ,night is soundless as death and dormant peace
                                                 night darkness, secret keep
morning calm spring ends summer begins
                                                    seasonal colors blend

Solar rays tans my flesh red as desert clay
                                                   in the same summer light
where lilies blossom and jaybirds play

                                   Desert summer...feverish sweat and thirst
long walk home my regret never worse
passing vineyard meadows ,sun setting in the west
                                      with nature's sustenance I'm blessed
                                Bittersweet saliva ...enjoying summer's reap
                                               night returns...sunburn relief
the day's journey ends ,new wisdom I shall keep
until tomorrow's journey when the sun rises in the east

Through the Eyes of a Whale

The journey of me
Your about to read
Migration of we
To rich grounds to feed

Vast waters
Gifted of blue
Humpback and right
My cousins true

In hunger dive
After giant squid
To the darken deep
On our sonar grid

Feasted, fed
Shadows appear
Orca pod
Our calves i fear

We adults encircle
To protect the young
Flick of our tail flukes
Orca's, in wave like flung

Danger over
Migration on track
To my left
An awesome humpback

We swim together
Grand beasts of the sea
Species of ilk
In total agree

Our sonar detects
That the water were in
For the many months
Of journey swim

For one third of a year
In our holiday home
Me and my cousins
Our freedom to roam

EAGLE FLIGHT

cascading light
washing over me
on sunlit wings

fierce golden glow
feather edged sundancer

sun light in your heart

goose pimples of pleasure
sun trickling drops of pure gold light
dapple on me

sunbreathing,basking sunshine
golden wings soar
rush of warm wind,
blinding white light

blue silence
calm of mind
flex of golden wing
on sunlit clouds of white

pure joy of golden light
pure joy golden flight

feather of mind
feather of heart

sunlit heart

breathe me
soft golden journey
my journey
your journey
