My Promise on Our Wedding Day

It would seem that when we have gotten close to each other
So many obstacles have come before me
But as I tackle them slowly, one after the other
The ones after only seem to get harder
But my love... No matter how hard the...
Situation may be... I'll stay with you...
Now my babi... Don't worry about us...
Have faith! Because there isn't anything stronger than our love...

I'll never be pulled away from you!
Even apart, I am still with you
These's no way I'd survive without you
And together we'll always be 'cause I love you!

As I go through life, I only get wiser everyday
And I will pass this along soon enough
Though i may try to be tough, I can't seem to with you
Though I'm vulnarable, you take care of me
Now my love... I want to give to...
Our future children... What you've given me...
And my wife... I can see them just fine off...
I believe! Because there isn't anything stronger than our love...

I don't care what other people may say!
You and only you were meant for me
Now my life's complete because of you
And I know that I'll be fine with you!

I can never be pulled away from you!
No matter how hard our enemies may try!
Our love is like the purest light ever seen!
And just like the light, our love can't be defeated!!!

The Wedding

Sometimes things are up,
And sometimes they are down,
Sometimes black is white,
And sometimes it is brown.
All the rivers flowing,
Back to the sacred sea,
All the monkeys climbing,
Up the very same tree.
You think you know a lot,
Think you know it all,
But the autumn leaves are falling,
At the north wind's lonely call.
The thinking of the meaning,
The reasons lost and gone,
At last the place is ready,
A vacant holy throne.
The emptiness that fill you,
Fills you from inside,
Is the treasure you are holding,
The bridegroom's holy bride.
And now the north wind's blowing,
Blowing down the Way,
And now we sit here waiting,
For the bridegroom's wedding day.

The Nameless - for South Africans of all colours who fought for freedom

The Nameless

Slipping through the sieve of history,

the nameless rest.

Not for the nameless are roads renamed, nor monuments built.

Not for the nameless are songs sung, nor ink spilled.

The nameless rest.

Their silent sacrifice,

quiet ordeal,

muted trauma,

remain interred,

amongst their remains.

The nameless rest.

Not for the nameless are doctorates conferred, nor eulogies recited.

Not for the nameless are honours bestowed, nor homages directed.

The nameless rest.

They rest within us,

they walk with us,

in every step that we tread.

They rest within us,

they walk with us,

for their spirit is not dead.

“Your name is unknown, your deed is immortal”
- inscription at The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier WWII in Moscow

Special thanks to my dearest elder sister Tasneem Nobandla Moolla, whose conversations with me about life as a non-white person growing up in pre and post-Apartheid South Africa prompted me to write this dedication to the countless, nameless South Africans of every colour, whose sacrifices and dedication in the struggle against Apartheid tyranny must never be forgotten.

My sister’s middle name ‘Nobandla’ which is an isiXhosa name and means “she who is of the people” was given by her godfather, Nelson Mandela, my father’s ‘best-man who could not be, as Nelson Mandela was unable to-make it to my parent’s wedding as he was in jail at the time in the old Johannesburg Fort. This was the 31st December 1961.

' Intimacy In Verse (1) ... '

Intimacy – To Put It Delicately,
Is Closer Than Flesh Can Form
And Stronger Than The Desire
… It Bravely Springs Forth From

Intimacy – Shuts Door
On Separated and Shy
Intimacy Knows Who You Are …
And Doesn’t Need To Ask Why

Intimacy – Is More than A Touch,
Sight, Smell, Taste Or Words Heard
Intimacy – Vanquishes Alone
 Unknown and Scared

Intimacy – Is A Certainty
And So Beautiful To Have and Hold
Intimacy – Is Secrecy Shared
Between Love and In-Love Souls

          … Intimacy …

The Main Matrix

So, if a matrix is a body substance, in which all cells are embedded?
Then can I not spiritually say that the body of Christ is also a matrix?
Well, is it safe to assume or safer to not assume the differences in such?

If I have a World Wide Web with many matrixes, there must be a main.
How does one achieve the main matrix without a conversion of all matrixes?
Each living breathing organism has a matrix, but what supplies this?

Seems how all bodies have cells embedded in a matrix,
Is it not safe to assume that the universe has a matrix?
If so, where is the main universal matrix?
There must be a connection of some sorts,
Nevertheless, what is it and where is it?
Moreover, why has this not been thought of?

If the body is the temple of the Lord,
Then He must have a main matrix.
Matrix is Latin for womb.
So in which womb is this matrix?
Only a female has a womb.
There must be one that is required by none.

Now let us get even more difficult here.
We have a World Wide Web with many matrixes.
What if the World Wide Web is an individual womb?
It obviously has good and evil in its growth.
Could there have been two that fused by one?
Could there have been a conversion of all matrixes.
Or is there only one main matrix being a female?

Let us get back to the body of Christ and His matrix.
Let us even go to your own bodies matrixes.
An enclosure within in which something originates or develops,
This is what lives and breathes inside of you every day, a matrix.
Do we not develop Christ within ourselves, and He our originator?
Is it not safe to assume that we are the body of Christ?
Moreover, that we are of a matrix that has a universal main matrix?

Paper Thin

Your paper-thin porcelain skin,
I know how to get right under it.
For kicks is why I do it now.
You tell me to love but I never knew how.
Our feet hitting pavement,
We spent the day in sunny California with sun kissed skin.
I’m learning to forget and how to fade scars,
And you let me let myself down so hard.

Your paper-thin porcelain skin,
I know how to get right under it.
And now I just do it for smiles,
We’ll never see flower girls stumbling down aisles.
I’d lose my head just before that chance,
But if you want we can still have a first dance.
Cause I think I say things that I don’t mean,
Once upon a time you meant the world to me.

Your paper-thin porcelain skin,
I know how to get right under it.
But I’m trying to refrain,
To make this not all end up in vain.
Maybe I can learn to love like some people do,
And you can learn to love yourself a little too.
Or it is in all fairness to let this go?
I guess we can try but then we’ll never know.

Our Dream

We lay here,
alone with our thoughts,
together,
forever,
side by side throughout our life,
that is what we dream…

That Guy

In that wedding
In that piece of pandemonium
I saw him, right there
In between the crowd
Where he was performing a traditional dance
I locked my eyes on him
And God! I wondered he looked just like him
But even more beautiful, more powerful, much handsomer
I waited and waited until he noticed me
I was there, so far away, on that table
Sitting upright, eyes locked, and thoughtful
Will I ever see him again?
That shared hidden passion
That I loved to practice
The dance finished, the guy left with his crew
I sat in despair and sighed
I would never see him again
A week passed, a wedding was on plate
I attended it elegantly
Dancing with ways
It was a lady- only matter
So I took off my scarf
And lay down my hair
The groom entered the hall
We all shall put our scarf on
To his beloved bride he walked
With such intensity and pride
The traditional crew walked right in
I just sat there and looked
Until I saw him again
That guy
Whatever his name is
I lay down a smile of delight
And pointed in my mind
And said “that is him”
Oh thank you God for this!
I sighed vulnerably again to realize
I would never see him again

Does Family Really Matter Anymore

A family had a wedding... The brother wasn’t invited.
The fact they didn’t want him,..
Was already decided!

When asked why his name had been “omitted.”
It was because of past wrongs he had committed.

The words spoken, one could hardly believe it!
Any kind of forgiveness?
 They didn’t receive it!

How many times are loved ones not
 invited to “family occasions.”
Often times, families listen to “outside persuasions.”

Someone does something,
that may not be liked.
Then they’re often told to “go take a hike!

No wonder why many families
battle one another!
They have failed to truly love each other!

As we continue to see families drift apart.
This often leads to a wounded
and broken heart!

Christ gave us his best!
When we were at our lowest!
A life of mercy and forgiveness…
He wants to show us!

If we can’t treat one another
 as Christ commands…
Then HIS way of family living….
We’ll never understand!

Done For Good

Her look that day,
Should have told me everything she could not say.
Unprepared, I stared.
She walked away.
As she tossed our ring,
I felt the sting.

If I’d known then
How I feel today,
I'd heal the abscess and my heart’s decay,
Before her affection left me there that day.

Little Red

Full Moon Brimming
On A Hungry Wolf
Fire still burning
Words are not enough

Red Riding Hood,
You stopped me where i stood.
The basket you held, looked so good,
I enticed...And you fell...

In the woods... safe and sound
We could not believe what we had found
Me in denim... and you it lace

We understood, each other so very well
Full moon brimming over with light
Gazing into the eyes of the other

The twin to me, I did see, in You.
Be careful with my heart, my love.

My running shoes are unlaced for now,
So lean back and enjoy the ride.
Embrace all the laughter, our lives allow.

wedding

A group of ladies by the stand pipe
While the tassa men play their tune
This is the lawa morning
I getting marry this afternoon

A bunch of foreigners clapping
And their mom drinking coconut water
They come from the Middle East
Because I marrying her daughter

My wedding suit hanging in the closet
Made by ram mohess tailoring
Riad gone for ice by the round about
And the family home busy cooking

Roger and them boys down stairs
Sugar bring out a case of rum
Shirley and rianna join the lawa
Dancing to beat of the tassa drum

They wouldn’t let me see her
My beautiful bride to be
And her family in the kitchen
Tasting curry goat and dhalpurie

They have she down by nazim in penal
Three days I didn’t get to see her
And Suzy calls to say they leaving
And junior driving the wedding car

Curry goat, chicken, alloo and channa
Curry mango and nice hot kuchela
And the best roti in Trinidad
From uncle Jap up in Marabella

Roger packing his fridge and freezer
Cause Julie bring some bee,s ice cream
The whole place buzzing with excitement
Today I marrying the of my dreams

Family and friends come from allover
Texas, New York, UK and Canada
Omg she looks so beautiful
Coming out the wedding car

Here she stands in next to me
The woman that will share my life
And today before god, friends and family
We become husband and wife

I feel happy, but still I’m very sad
Because I wish my father was here
But I know he is up in heaven
Looking down from somewhere

The search is On

Are you the one, the bride I try to find?
Still haven't met you, how can I make up my mind?
How am I to know? How am I to decide?
Waiting for the questions to get demystified
I know that I am patient; I know that I can wait
Not for ever though, it doesn't work out like that
I am sure it'll help me find some answers if we go out on a date.

Homo Sapiens

"I stabbed a faggot
in the knees", he whispered.

I wanted him
for bait

To catch some
bigger faggots,
from a pile of

Growing stubble heads
and high-heeled masculinity

They twist,
so I unhook them
to sea [see].

The Day of Infamy

I can't imagine what goes through a girls mind,
As she lives grows and encounters the blues,
Looking for prince charming in the nick of time,
To carry her off on a journey that begins with two.

Most guys I know tremble at the thoughts of getting married,
They run hide say not for sale and crack other jokes for fun,
Guys think ball chain hang us now or let me be buried,
However with smitten heart they come with eyes fixed on one.

The day comes which the two have planned at last,
It seemed like forever this moment to arrive,
Hand in hand giving rings and vows shall they cast,
The Lord over them teaching them how to thrive.

Next stop vacation fun and the honey moon suite,
Then lessons of how to live together and pet peeves will spawn,
Moving on in their future we hear the pitter patter of little feet,
A home the lady will keep tidy while the man cuts the lawn.

Years will pass by and changes shall take place,
Children now grown and ready to leave the nest,
But the two remain in tact thankful for each other and new space,
Knowing it was God who helped them excel and pass each test.

Forgive, please forget

I lie here looking at the ceiling,
Then I look to your word,
It didn't have much meaning,
Trusting you is almost absurd
You left me broken promises
I know I'm better off
No more kisses
I need to write you off
I'm a creature of habit
I know I'm not that tough
I have no heart to be compassionate
You stole it, left it in the rough
I'm Forgetting how your voice sounds
It truly makes me sad
yet still want you around
I still know what we had
Why'd did you ever leave?
Why couldn't we have been enough for you?
Now you wallow in sorrow and tell me how you grieve
love isn't for the weak I give the devil his due
Now you suffer twisting, contorted pain
the worst mistake of your life
takes me back to lovers lane
You really messed up and I'm to alleviate you of your strife?
You think you deserve it?
….
…..
…...
…....
…..I do.

A Circle of Promises

Resting upon my outstretched hand
lies what was once
a circle of promises never ending
given as a symbol of love
spoken and unspoken
now just a circle of heartache(s)
this too never ending...
or so it seems.
Two people,
once possessed of this band
vowed for eternity
to travel together as one
a promise soon broken
rendering forever
one again into two.
That which long ago radiated
a warmth felt only
by those it encircled
its luster now dulled by time
lies cold upon my hand
with only my memories
to hold it there.
I wrap it once more
within tissue yellowed by time
and return it to my box
of gone but not forgotten memories.

For My Husband

I love you for being my husband.
I thank you for all your love.
I thank you for being there,
A special person sent from above.
I thank God for sending you to me,
For giving me a life with you.
And our children he entrusted me.
Your acceptance, guidance and care,
Given so unconditionally.
Together with my love and certainty,
Give us so much to share.
I feel a special bond not there before.
It gets stronger every day.
Making within me such awesome happiness,
My heart longs to soar.
I know that I am not always perfectly undoubting.
We both have our failures and imperfections.
I think, however, our short comings and trials
 Build between us stronger connections.
I believe that God has brought us together,
Because each has a lot to offer the other.
You, as the father and husband,
And me, as the wife and mother.

                                                                    Summer Gratias

Disillusioned

We pledged our vows before God and man,
But to have and to control was your only plan.
you wanted a mother certainly not a wife ,
Your verbal abuse nearly destroyed my life.
You wanted to be a father but only in name ,
This was all part of your devious game.
An uncaring parent that's what you were ,
Blood is thicker than water don't you know?
Whenever you sow your seeds,
You nuture them and ensure that they grow.
Marriage is not a fairy tale,
Where dreams just come true,
It's a lot of hard work and committment
you have to put in too.
So ponder on that before you answer the Lord,
Because as you know, he'ii always detect a fraud.

Decided

Years of indecision
Ended in an instant
My life in third revision
Starting in the present

Touching everything I've owned
Importing their very essence
Of each and every feeling they borne
History rearing it's very presents

Boxed and placed on an empty truck
My very existence held in transit
That is when the melancholy struck
Walking out this door would be a heroic bit

On the other side of town a lady waited
Patiently for me and for me to decide
That my wild single passions were sated
And to face and enjoy life by her side

I fired up that truck, my heart, soul and mind
Pointed them carefully to the other side of town
Arriving at a place, I knew, true love I would find
Truly amazed at the acceptance I had found.

Setting up House

I met a woman, fell in love
She was a gift from above
Soon she became my spouse
We gathered things and set up house.

Some things were new without a flaw
Some were hand me downs from Ma and Paw
For some we saved nickels in a can
Some were bought on the installment plan.

Children came – a total of four
Two boys – two girls- no need for more
We managed to provide room and board
Did the best we could afford.

We moved around from house to house
On an adventure – me and my spouse
Gathering things to which we would cling
But we rarely got rid of anything.

Tables, chairs, couches, and beds
Cabinets and shelves taller than our heads
Mugs, pictures, and bells we did collect
Mementoes and heirlooms on which to reflect.

A man gathers a lot in over fifty years
And remembers many of them with tears
Many a thing still fills my house
But it’s not a home without my spouse.

She has a room in a retirement home
Care is provided and she cannot roam
I dreamed one day we would be old timers
But I never figured on Alzheimer’s.

Now I have a house full of stuff
Too many things - more than enough
The time has come to downsize
To an apartment in the high rise.

My children came one by one
Went through my stuff until they were done
One takes this and another takes that
And managed to do so without a spat.

Giving things away is a lonely task
My irritability I cannot mask
Gathering things with my spouse
Was more fun than cleaning out house.

Charivari du muet - Noise of the mute

I do not waltz, betwixt this sound,
I cannot descry, your whispered amulet,
Hexed by silence, still I hear your lament,
as other birds chirrup, they too can imagine,
along these osculate words...

I try, to listen to the bells, sedulous nihility,
I want Mozart in my mind, I yell, demused,
I missed my train, another consortium delayed,
From Elysian fields, you call and call again...

Somehow, your words seem true to me,
Sometimes, you know, but you don't hear me,
Someway, the hindrance of my earthly epistles:
The painful, sly and poignant, missive envisage,
docile tones of your tongue, conducts satiny notes,
Palpable facial expressions, lead me on and on,
and the violin of my waltz,
sustains my love,
forevermore....

All

On this astonishing day,
Beneath the overwhelming sky,
I am not reluctant to pray
For poise as we prepare to fly
Into the unknown, come what may.

We cannot know what lies ahead
But I will not tremble in fear
Nor will I question thoughts unsaid
As the appointed time draws near
To walk into the dreams we've fed.

Extraordinary vows speak
Of spiritual unity
As we gaze into triumph's peak,
Daring to glimpse eternity,
Beyond the human flesh so weak.

Oh, I pray we stand strong and tall
For generations yet to be;
Let the world see we greet the call
To live as one in harmony,
Facing the future of it all.

I Love You

I love you is more than just my words,

It is this deep down driving force of a silent sound.

Love is a magnet igniting sparks to try higher light.

Love connects beaming light twinkling at midnight.

Unmistakably, I’m assured audibly to get this heard.

I love you is more than me,

Love is pending in the depths of me I touch.

This is more than what I can realistically feel.

It is a bargainer’s deal for the sweetest steal.

Evidently, I run wild because I set it all free!

I love you is less than you,

It is an uncut gashing wound,

With lifetimes of a scored scar,

It is a typhoon of who you are,

Apparently, it is difficult to do!

I love you is less than them,

It is always lost,

It is never found,

It binds to a cost,

Hearts are bound.

I love just like you,

And you love just like me!

I swear to my God Almighty from up above my heart is pure and true!

I really do embellish everything my love is suppose to do just for you!

Forever and ever, the whole world shall open their eyes daily to see!

In lieu of this unconditional love, it is here I will always want to be!

Alike

The wind has yet to blow
two feathers along the same path
or tassel twin snowflakes to the ground
Nor will the wind ever see
similarity
in all the clouds it pushes around
The same applies to the twin-less waves
it's carried
and yet to carry
who've crashed
and yet to crash
upon no two similar grains of sand
Amidst all this failure
to bring together
no two objects alike
It's a wonder that finally
it's brought together you and me
and managed to get it right

Just a story

The cold of the winter bites
As she hurried walk home
The bus was late tonight
She don’t like to be out alone

She got out her keys
Lock the door behind her
Sits with a hot cup of tea
And covers on the sofa

Same time across the city
Another girl wasn't lucky as her
She works the night shift
But her life will change forever

On the subway platform
She was pulled by two men
Who had their way with her?
And left her never to be mend

She was found by a passer by
She awake in the hospital
And was question by police
But she never remember it all

She couldn't go back to work
She was never the same after
She decides leaves the city
And go live with her mother

One morning she got so sick
When she smells deodorant
So she went to doctor
Turns out she was pregnant

She sits in MacDonald s
Thinking over a cup of coffee
Didn't I had normal life
Why this did happens to me

What is she going to do now?
She’s pregnant for rapist
Her mother was supportive
Saying you will get through this

She spoke to the local priest
Who said this is an innocent life
She always wishes to be pregnant
When she is some one wife

She decided to have an abortion
And was opening the clinic door
She ran into an old school friend
Hasn’t seen for ten years or more

He ask her out to lunch
And started talking of day gone by
She told him about her situations
And he hugs her when she cries

He told of his crush for her
And it has never gone away
Ask her to marry him
And he become a father that day

They both stand clap proudly
As they watch him graduate
Then all went out to Manhattan
And had dinner to celebrate

The philosophy of marriage

The philosophy of marriage

 Marriage is a thing
That must not be force
Seen so many people
 Ends up in divorce

Once you get marry
The friendship is lost
And you can’t make it back
To the bridge that was cross

They start to find Faults
In what was cute before
Then it gets frustrated
When love walks out the door

You know I love you
More than words can say
But if we get marry
We could lose that one day

Some people gets marry
To start a life together
And some marriage has to
Face all kinds of weather

Not every couple is happy
Deep down in their hearts
I bet they all were happier
Before the marriage talk starts

They says it’s all about love
But I don’t think it’s true
It’s about trust and respect
That sticks it like crazy glue

Many want their children
To be born in a married home
But how many ends in divorce
Leaving their children alone

Know a lot of people who
Wish they never get marry
All because they rush in
Was in to much of a hurry

Don’t get me wrong
Some marriages are right
If its build on respect
And they do not fight

When bad words are said
Like fire it can burn
And something is lost
That cannot be return

First couples are dating
Become husband and wife’s
Then starts to annoy each other
For the rest of their life’s

Love is a wonderful thing
To have someone who cares
But because of a wedding ring
It can quickly disappear

The love we have is special
We feel each others pain
Let’s preserve this love of ours
So no more wedding talk again

Unions Of Love

I've longed for a man to have and to hold,
To love me forever, being brave and bold.
Someone to cherish and stay by my side,
With this man truly I'll always abide.

I've longed for a woman, tender and wise,
Who doesn't hold secrets in the depths of her eyes.
Someone whose word is always true,
With this woman happiness will ensue.

We've now found each other, our union is strong,
We now know that this is where we each belong.
Unions like ours must indeed be rare,
So with our love we shall take extra care.

When this life is over and we start again,
Maybe next time we'll be each other's friend.
You've enriched my life beyond any measure,
So in whatever form you're always my treasure!

I promise to Love, Honor, and Respect your wisdom for many lives that shall follow and proceed!
Following you, I am always so very close when you’re near.
I Wed Thee and by these hands we shall forever be blessed and correctly fed.
I Wed Thee, by my God given name and I now declare our all a final by being done and said!

Rejuvenation

the hollow flame of christmas
is but a memory
suspended in the wind;
unanimated and sore.

a discordant lullaby
self-seething
and unsettling to the touch.

resonating within
the emptiness
a frost-bitten chill
no amount of soothing
could thaw.

and in all my selfishness,
not once did i wonder
if maybe it wasn't
meant to be felt
like it was - and did
that very first time.

A 50 Bullet Wedding

In America, it is difficult to be black
You always have to stay on track
Where are all the Black men, at
Incarcerated, must of them, Jack
Well, I made it most of the way
Hey, I got a good job, with good pay
So, I am getting married, on this day
This wedding ceremony worked out, you know, okay
Now, its time to celebrate, this way
Just friends and family to congregate, up in this place
Man, this wedding reception is great
Yeah, it is dark outside and it is getting late
I need to step outside to meditate
I got something special for my baby girl
Then, I grabbed my keys and my coat
Casually, I jet to my car
Well, I did not get very far
I heard gunshots ring through the air
So, I got nervous, with great despair
Sure, you feel the tempers flair
I see the man, packing the heat
You feel the anger in these streets
The words began to shout, no doubt
Boy, put your hands up, behind your head, before we roll out
We have no problem here, Mr. Man
I just want to get some stuff out my car
The policeman said no, then pointed the assault weapon, at my head
Now, freeze, step down, and put that body on the ground
Then, I reached down for my car keys, with my left hand
Homey, those bullets blasted out, like jet rockets
Suddenly, they burst a few rounds, up inside of me
I receive multiple bullets from my head to my knees
They decided not to incarcerate me,
Instead, they invited me to this 50 bullet wedding, without the bride or groom

ETERNITY

 ETERNITY
Eternity
How can a man hold water in the hand?
does it run and drip and gone…
How can a man live again?
and live forever then…
Forever is a moondrop a lightbeam a dream…
Life is like a fraction of the aeon
the never ending particle the spinning article…
Never needing sleep never needing wheat
but having very much having all the love…
Starting over to do a thing and starting over
and then starting over again…
Without end no end no stop no more halt
no lame thing no pain…
No need for anything all needs provided
making flowers grow…
Meeting people that were dead
and now alive for evermore…
Water needs a container and to be contained
a cup without a saucer is such a lame thing…
Eye want to go to Heaven only after
only after eye marry the poor mans daughter.
Give me an eternity of love
Bless my only one.
Bless my love.
Eternity.
