Where my True Love Lives - A Ballade

Seared upon my soul for ever more
That break of dawn upon a summer morn
As I made my way along that rocky shore
Strewn with remnants from a ragging storm
When through a rising mist of gray - so forlorn
I saw a badly broken sinking ship
With canvas wings of white so sadly torn
There beneath those majestic purple cliffs

And as that mighty fearless ocean roared
With salty breezy breath so filled with scorn
I saw it rise up from the ocean floor
Wrapped in a velvet coat so frayed and worn
A red, red, rose impaled upon a thorn
Where passion bled like rain from ruby lips
Upon a vivid memory reborn
There beneath those majestic purple cliffs

The wind - it whispered - in my ear - Lenore
As black clouds in the sky began to form
Into a face I’d never seen before
With hollow cheeks that endless tears adorned
That fell in frozen crystal drops so foreign.....
Then from those clouds his face began to slip
And I cried the tears of a woman scorned
There beneath those majestic purple cliffs

Lenore, the love he would forever mourn
That from his pen on page in words did drip
As I read his poetry and love was born
There beneath those majestic purple cliffs.

The Stone

The Tale below was carved one night,
Upon the Stone, by candlelight
...most won’t believe, but some just might
.........most won’t believe, but some just might

. Preface

Well James made Beth his lovely bride
(And angels smiled, though teary eyed)
...their bodies bound, their spirits tied
.........their bodies bound, their spirits tied

Upon her hand, a shimmer shone,
As bright as blood, a ruby Stone
...and brighter still, as love had grown
.........and brighter still, as love had grown

Soon James was sent to man a sail
So Beth removed her wedding veil
...her eyes were bright, her face was pale
.........her eyes were bright, her face was pale

“Well, I’ll be here when you return”
Said Beth to James, who kissed in turn
...a kiss that made her body burn
.........a kiss that made her body burn

. BETH’S TALE

1. The Dream
One night, within a dream deformed,
The cawing of a Crow informed
“...a Ship was stripped where winter stormed
.........a Ship was stripped where winter stormed

Midst winds and waves the thunder boomed
The Ship of Death was surely doomed
...the sea engulfed, the sea entombed
.........the sea engulfed, the sea entombed

Your James... denied by Davy Jones!
His spirit gone, his flesh and bones
...are resting now amongst the Stones
.........are resting now amongst the Stones”

2. The Quest

Awoken by the ebon Wight
And beckoned by the baneful bight
...I left before the morning light
.........I left before the morning light

Throughout the realm I rode a roan
Until, in time, I reached the Stone
...where shades and dreams in darkness groan
.........where shades and dreams in darkness groan

While skipping up and down the sky
A missing moonbeam mocked my eye
...enough to make a Swallow cry
.........enough to make a Swallow cry

For someone stole a star or two
And something else that fate withdrew –
...my jewel of joy, my James Bijou
.........my jewel of joy, my James Bijou

The shadows of the evening swelled
Where demons of the dusk had dwelled
...and in the far, a vesper knelled
.........and in the far, a vesper knelled

The Stone, beneath the sky, stood cold –
Between the runes, a vapour strolled
...a cloak of fleecy fog consoled
.........a cloak of fleecy fog consoled

A Raven on a branch, enthroned,
Her wings waved once, a wail intoned
...beyond the bay, a banshee moaned
.........beyond the bay, a banshee moaned

I lay beside the Stone, his bride
I lay beside the Stone and cried
...but were it I, instead, that died
.........but were it I, instead, that died

The rainbow of the moon fell dim
A midnight Swan soon ceased to swim
...as if to hide all hint of him
.........as if to hide all hint of him

Between the willows in the swale
There sang a Bird, a Nightingale
...which left me faint and feeling frail
.........which left me faint and feeling frail

3. Contact

I felt him breathe within a breeze
Responding to my anguished pleas
...and leaves blew by abandoned trees
.........and leaves blew by abandoned trees

“I miss you too, my darling Beth”
Re-echoed from the Ship of Death
...the future buried in a breath
.........the future buried in a breath

The Stone lit up a ruby sheen
And clouds were kindled crystalline
...with consequences, unforeseen
.........with consequences, unforeseen

Above, the wretched Raven soared
To where the Ship of Death lay moored
...beneath, the icy ocean roared
.........beneath, the icy ocean roared

4. Release

I’m joined with James beneath the Stone,
Though to the Ship my spirit’s flown,
...for nevermore to be alone
.........for nevermore to be alone

. Epilogue

That night the wayward winds were weird
The Ship of Death had disappeared
...coyotes called and mortals feared
.........coyotes called and mortals feared

At dusk, the craven shadows crawled
At dawn, the winds of mourning called
...upon the Stone two names were scrawled
.........upon the Stone two names were scrawled

The Raven sits, with wings outspread,
Atop the Stone which shades the dead
...it sometimes shimmers ruby red
.........it sometimes shimmers ruby red

. Epitaph

Between the sounds, where silence seeps,
Their love lives on and never sleeps
...and yet, the weeping willow weeps
.........and yet, the weeping willow weeps

Water Wall

As he slept in tranquil dream,
Suddenly he flew, it seemed.
Thrown and landing on the floor,
Shaking walls and splintered doors.

Just as quick, the room grew still.
Distant tremors he could feel.
Out the door, and up the rock,
There he stood in sleepy shock.

How could oceans disappear.
Then a hissing he could hear
And a trembling, heavy roar
Headed for an empty shore.

Sunrise turned a greenish hue,
As he climbed, a better view.
Seeming far too large, he saw
What must be a water wall.

Thought of ancient stories told
Of a wrath that could unfold;
Sucking oceans with a breath,
Spewing endless waves of death.

Instinct quickly cleared his mind.
Panic now, he clawed and climbed.
Up, despite the screams he hears,
As a village disappears.

Once an evil came to call,
Scooped them up and took them all.
Now he's old, his stories wane,
Of the morning Satan came.

the day you flew to Heaven

We knew , it was if a moment stopped in time
hearing the news before most of the World did
He loved to fly his plane from Colorado to Monterey Bay
He was a avid golfer at Pebble Beach respected

He had loves and passions from many places
deciding to fly low through the overcast red sunset
Not only did he love music and inspire all
He loved his Plane , he will always remain a beautiful Soul

The next day it was confirmed ..all saddened
It was John Denver's plane that went down
Today in Pacific Grove stands the Memorial
So Kiss me and smile for me we will ~
              always in loving memory
OH babe , do we hate you go ~

An Epic Battle With A Simple Question

A beautiful heart pines from afar. To parallel freedom, we choose our master. In Love, the Dragon and Unicorn are! Celestial winged heart beats faster, Over mountain and ocean meet polar eyes. To parallel freedom, we choose our master. Embarking from sun brewed and moonshine skies Two alien races, in war, collide. Over mountain and ocean meet polar eyes. All brothers' swords raise, marching with pride. Sisters of heaven let feathers fly. Two alien races, in war, collide. The angered clouds rain blood from the sky. A new path finally found. Sisters of heaven let feathers fly. Brothers' swords low now to the ground. A beautiful heart pines from afar. A new path finally found. In Love, the Dragon and Unicorn are! In universe Out bound energy Where are we when we die?

Night

If the waves clutched for my feet once more And invited me to drift Would you pull me back from ocean's shore Or let my spirit lift; Would you wade into the waters deep And hold my frozen life Or discontent with ocean's tide Let be with saddening strife. If moonlight was our only cover And her reflection beckoned me- Would you swim a naked body And sing our souls as "Free" If ensconced in nature's grasping hands, Whether waves or Freedom's play Will you follow me, but nature's pet, And embrace the dying day?

Birth and Death

The sun and moon conceived a star shooting through time and space born within the ocean delivered upon its waves while Beethoven's sonatas softly played nightly gales whispered those tunes to all the seashells beach sand passed through coral reefs as soles of lovers feet tread buried in beach fires deep begging the earth most humbly to draw a breath but over the cliff the hurricane's wind blew until death from those turbulent ocean waters came a sailor's truth watching a passing ship with broken sails and ghostly crew waiting as death cast it's ending shadow old, yet new sending those born in ocean waves back to the waters blue in birth and death none shall overcome casting us away to where everything was once created in it's hidden depths and there began an understanding between birth and death, a truce
Inspired by: John F. Kennedy." We are tied to the ocean. And when we go back to the sea, whether it is to sail or to watch - we are going back from whence we came." 9112007

If Old Men Fought

An old man looking out his door,
gaze fixed on a distant shore,
reminiscing to a time, not of happiness,
or, the prospect of a bright future,
to when he was sick to his very core,
to when as a youth, he went to war

A time before infallibility had meaning,
patriotism and bravado the craze,
the future was still unknown,
vigor for life at its all time high,
a time for romance, partying, buying,
no thought of pain, deformity, dying

Too young to understand or question,
ship to foreign shore, medals abound,
will impress the girls next time in town,
sacrifice not temporary,
forever more,
a legacy etched into a wall, few will remember,
flesh shredded, burned, torn,
families mourn

A time, when he willingly went to war,
will happen no more,
all lost in youth, now unrelenting,
no blind obedience,
minimal risk,
long life, his number one ambition

As he turns back from the door,
he thinks of the youth,
here now, soon no more,
lessons never learned,
the call to war,
to common the roar,
complacency the mood,
another generation removed

The old man agonizes
over what was originally not known,
war is preventable,
life too precious to waste,
the solution simple,
his vision, maybe too late

Send old men to the front to fight,
arthritis, heart disease, poor eyesight,
let the youth enjoy their life,
his near over, its only right

Send old men, to the front, to fight
ask them to give up their life,
patriotism and bravado, still alive,
will and desire would not last the night,
old men do not rush to death in their twilight,
failure inevitable, the old man smiles,
knows he's right

Wars not possible,
if old men, are sent to fight

Trip Twist

In the void, sipping the zoid,
with mental properties of tripping on the spiral.
Falling down the tail of lions, awkwardly spinning.
With upside down tunnel vision leaking through.

Solidifying all matter that matters,
melting into the walls of your brain.
It tickles all the raindrops dripping in your eyes,
satisfying your desire of a synchronized pattern.

Bleeding purple from the rainbow,
and turning into swirls of diamonds.
Slipping exuberantly beside you; driving you wild.
Where the shadows stop the spirited scream.

Devour yourself into the omniscient grip.
Icy cold finger tips scratch the surface of your divinity,
bringing you closer to the God who whispered in your unborn ear,
situated in your flesh from birth to death.

It embeds itself in the pupil of your eye,
dancing with your spirit and licking your soul.
Black shapes of madness wrapped in chaos and euphoria.
Twinkling and blinking dust of a cloud.

Haze filled skies and blood filled smoke raining from the clouds.
Envisions of clowns and demons laughing at our demise.
Chilling sensations of sickening mannerisms,
mechanisms and mechanics sought out to destroy the tiny creatures.

These creatures running crazy into acceptance of demise.
Deprived of life, scared of death but giving into it's taste.
Taste buds quiver as the taste grows sweeter.
Death, oh death, tell everyone who you really are...

Too long have you been hidden in the shadows you cast,
too long have we rendered your pain.
The world grows sicker as the hairs in my head grey.
I'll never surrender as demons always circle.

Today, begins a new day of our fight.
And I have a good feeling about this day.
Onward, we have united our minds and gathered ourselves within.
Always ready for we accept our fear.

We accept our hate and everything in between.
Accept it all for what it really is.
No amount of doubts will over throw us.
Onward, to peace.

One Stormy Night

A storm torn boat thrashed on the ocean waves
As gales of wind knocked out their lanterns’ glow.
A frantic captain yelled “all hands on deck!”
Then watched as sails tore free; they’d moved too slow.

Brave as a lion, captain steered their course
Though jagged rocks scraped ‘gainst the hull with force.
The seamen battled through the dark of night
Until the seas grew calm at morning’s light.

They stood in silence, those that still remained
And bowed their heads for mates who’d met their fate.
Time and eternity told tales of mighty seas
That claimed the brave, then crushed their ships with ease.

Her Heart Is The Sea

Her eyes never leave
the moonlit horizon.
She will wait
an eternity, if she must.
She paces
as the tides
crash forth, then recede
back to the ocean.

Only memories
return here.
The ship departing
from the docks,
the sun sparkling
on the water,
a pair of dolphins
jumping
through the surface.
They had seen it
while in each other's arms.
Yet, now they
are distant
memories.

The sky turned ominous,
dark waters
engulfed the ship.
Everything went dark,
they lost sight
of each other
beneath the churning waves.
Her lungs
filled with salt water
as she desperately
gasped for air,
for life.

She drowned
the same day he did.
Her soul
washed ashore
along with her
cold, lifeless body.

She remains
here,
haunting the coast.
Her feet leave
no imprints
in the sand.
She moves
with the wind,
drifts upon it,
like sea-foam
atop the waves.
The dark water
flows
through her
transparent form.

Her spirit's heart glows,
shining outward
like a lighthouse beacon
showing him the way
back
to her arms.
She is waiting
for him
to rejoin her.
He will return
just as she has.

Turn on your light

Turn On Your Light.

Turn on your light

Turn on your light
Light the velvet softness of your night
You might have felt that breath of sweetest power
In that silver moon
That paints the twilight hours
Have you ever felt that mystic pull
That takes you from the smallest flower
To melt into the all.

I sometimes stand there staring at the sea
As each wave reaches out to destiny
To fade and then to come back
So another wave might form
To be destroyed
Then to be reborn….

Turn on your light
Pass no judgment, who’s to say what’s right?
No need for this when light is shining bright
Have you felt such magic
Have you felt that pull
It’s something that must happen to each fool
He must learn how to melt into
The silence of the all.

The secrets they be wrote within your soul
Seek them out and let them make you whole
Each flower it must bloom then die
So know your precious I
Must be destroyed
To be reborn…

Home to the Ocean

sonnet

While dreaming of my childhood ocean ties, mem'ry's chandelier sheds light, somewhat eclipsed. The essence of the salt still stings my eyes; the rusty taste of iron hangs on my lips. The ocean’s fragrant spray not quite so fair as I recall; it makes me think of death. Many a moon has set since I was there; destiny speaks to me - my own last breath. The ocean’s soft waves bring dulcet mem’ries, my mama’s silk scarf brushing ‘gainst my face. Turbulent storms always left me on my knees under safe precipice back of our place. It is there my dreams rest as I stand by; it’s there I shall be buried when I die.

Grieving Lines For The Innocent -An Elegy On The Death Of Troy Davis

An Ocean of grief has welled in my soul
Grief of an orphan shrouded by injustice
And unto the legal gate of Georgia,
A thousand unjust deaths posted notice
Why should it be the innocent dove?

An amber fang of a Mephistophelian judge was imminent
Tearing all cloak innocence had worn
As holy truth assumed the position of the sun
Prime hatred was masking a noble in the court of law
And only the stainless blood of a lamb would please her rage
To atone the sorrows of a revenge-haunted family? (Truth denies)
O brothers why should it be the innocent Troy Davis?
The tears-laden heart of mine forever shall mourn his demise

His departing lines still anchor in the inner chamber of my soul
"To thee O family of the deceased cop
I may die but I am not your killer
And to thee my ruthless lethal killers
Pray for your souls for thou have soiled thy hands in my blood"
To my brothers who say it is legal
Empty your hates and embrace truth
Some things may be legal but not right
Slavery in its prime was legal
But to human dignity O brothers was it right?
An Ocean of grief has welled in my soul
Grief of an orphan shrouded by injustice
For innocent Troy Davis is dead!

floating brim

An eerie spell recites with Auster,
but none should listen to the gust
above the cargo stars foster
the ship sheers off, in night's dark cast.

We hark the words - a haunted song,
the wind recites through our whisper,
upon Atlantic's route lifelong
an enigmatic big dipper.

Atop the bridge acoustics sharpen,
eerie's the steersman whistling song,
- juke box and liquor in Antwerpen
where he was not much right or wrong.

Astounding flash - the blade was drawn,
for cause nigh naught, wrong talk offends
on brines his ghost shall trip foregone
in southern winds, his Hohner blends.

We pass alargo from Cape Coast,
that blade's fast draw forwards the past,
an end aghast, a moonshine ghost
will haunt my sleep, invite me last.

Our cargo cuts through bluish drape,
our diesels hum - besetting rhythm;
in mists envisioned smiling gate,
slowly engulfs our floating brim.

Dusk at the Quay

Dusk at the quay

The dusk is here, down by the sea
A summer’s day, a nice cool breeze
And as the sun be sinking lower
A silence with it’s awesome power
Descends on all for each to hear
As I feel the breath of God, so near.

The boats all anchored in the quay
They look so sleepy now
They wave and bob upon their beds
As the breeze touches their sails
They sit there sleeping till the morn
Then wake up gleaming with the dawn.

What is it then about the dusk?
That brings this silence on
What brings this sense of mystery?
When the sun it soon be gone
When crashing waves may hit the sand
All done with the aid of God’s firm hand.

I sit and watch the Sun go down
It’s the mystery of death
I see it sink then disappear
There’ll soon be nothing left
For the Sea does rob him of his light
He’ll come back, though, with morning light.

from slopes to brines

She waited on the skyline, bloom and thorn
accordment of their oaths and thoughts at night
annealed recited entity - vows sworn
- the brave ascended to the Halls of light.

War-bullet traveled through the frozen air
companion loved - his stare embraced the ferns
- the laurel and the sage ascribed his fair
the stalwart chose the path of moon and ernes.

Dim lantern's flame her thought - on peaks beseech
ornate the winds surpass the granite plate
denounced the corteges and oaths to breach,
her highness steps, adorned demise, third fate.

And in the mists when winds bemoan in pines
their solemn words will fly from slopes to brines.

~~ Beloved Wife ~~

I was looking for Inspiration, for an “Elegy” Contest Poem
A Rambling POET , Constance, with POETRY from her Heart
With deep embedded feelings Her ~~Beloved Husband~~ is where I start
For I too lost a dear true LOVE, Glenn and Lenore in Heavens Home
I felt the pain of agony, the pain of a lost LOVE, I know what Constance felt
Together in Spirit, yet so far apart, together in Prayer, at a Gravestone we Knelt
I stare upon the ocean of tears that Constance cried, for in that ocean ,my Wife died
As we grow old together : Alone : let us meet in Heaven, YOU with YOUR Husband
                                        I with my Bride

Spirit unbroken

Dear loveless one

Your hatred may have left holes
in my emotions
and your fury unleashed scars
upon the spirit
you will never possess...
Even though your tongue dug my soul's grave
and your hands muffled my cries
and bound me in chains
to sinking death as a child,
I kept on living for hope's sake.
You deafened my ears to joy's call
and love I passed by, oblivious
to its tender touch.
You blinded my eyes to the beauty
that was staring me in the face
and stitched up my mouth
to prevent your own shame
escaping in audible screams...

Today my body rests in the ocean
and still you are troubled.
Why then?
You got what you wanted, didn't you?
You murdered your own flesh and blood
to compensate for your flaws.

You know... You know you can't run
from a past so dark.
You hear my daunting laughter
and the endless pleading haunts you.

I grip your black heart frozen
and whisper, "Goodbye."

Sincerely,
Spirit unbroken.

(A tribute to all abused children)

The Heart of the Ocean

Someday, the heart of the ocean
With my soul, shall glisten
Someday, the heart of the ocean
To my call shall listen
Always rash and rowdy

It shall fill me up
And when I will wake up
There, in the heart of the ocean
No more will life be seen as being draconian
Rather, everything will seem panacean

A heart made of goodness
There, sharks and mermaids do dance
Lions and dragons do prance
And ships, sunk in miscreance
Do relish this state of blessedness

It lies deep at the bottom of the sea
None can see through the watery alley
Only those granted with the boon of faith
Those having been given a chance to repent
A chance of enjoy their existence, on the heart of the ocean

Someday, to that mystical heart
I shall belong, as would the verses to the poet
Someday, there, my tears would turn shiny
And my cloudy rainfall would be all lost
Lost, for surrounding me shall be water, made of a unique essence!

Tsunami

Blazing hot sweats rolled down my back,
A cloudless sky was at reach from my palm’s view,
My eyes centered on the sun as it stood above my head.
Summer’s end sneaked around the corner,
But its endless heat
Fooled me to think it would never cease.

Milky sand grains covered my toes,
Beach balls rolled back n’ forth,
Children’s castle were made and later destroyed,
Clear waters waved in my thoughts.
It was suppose to be a beautiful day
And until that moment, indeed it was.

The moment the earth shook,
Loud voices suddenly began to rise
And Footsteps tumbled the ground,
I looked around
Right, left, up, down,
Where had the commotion come from?

The sun blinded me from the truth,
When the photons in my eyes reassembled the image,
A shock traveled to my heart
Making it pump furiously in my chest.

A desert ahead of me laid,
Content faces had ran from my presence,
The air dragged my body forward,
The ocean rapidly seemed to disappear.
I looked upon the never ending horizon
And its line had ascended greatly.

In that moment,
I refused to run like all the others,
I refused to avoid its magnificent moves.
The winds pushed me backwards with a tremendous force,
Sprinkles of icy water splashed against my skin,
A great calamity I was bound to face.

Shadows covered the surface of my dread,
An enormous wall of wetness surrounded me.
And with a blink, I was no longer visible to the eyes of men,
Not even God could spot me from the heavens above.

I gasped for air in the salty waters of the ocean,
But there was none to be found,
And with that last thought in mind
I drowned myself in its eternal beauty.

Tear a Heart, Shred a Soul

She sat alone
Against jagged stones
Carving her misery into them
Watching the blood, red and worn
Retell her sorry tale

The ocean waves crashed at her feet
As if trying to warn her
As if trying to tell her something
"He isn't there anymore"

But she won't heed the angry voices
Nor will she try to move
Because the ocean reminds her too much of him
His blue eyes, and cold heart
And a midnight summer charm

She waits until it fades to black
and the ocean looks like a black abyss
Then she hopes it will swallow her
leading her to him

Maybe the ocean will take pity
And lead her straight to hell
And into her long lost love open arms
Where he's waiting for her

But the ocean refuses to open
And refuses to let her drown
They try to tell her that he isn't there anymore
She has no reason to cry

Tear a Heart, Shred a Soul
No difference will it make
Unless you head the silent whispers
That he is waiting on the sand
Beneath the moon
Watching and Waiting for her return

His tale too is a sad one
For she will never come back
Her ripped up mind
Her beaten body
Lay in the ocean, buried deep
Waiting for him

Drifting Mainly

You belong to me mate ( Intro )
And that be that!
Get on board
And grab your hat!

The ship was aghast at its new passenger	( Verse )
Like disdain for the lives that they now left behind,
Newcomers were scarce
And they never would last
But I held up my chin nice and high.

The bloke who took me screamed	( Pre-chorus )
“Mop up the deck we’ve got things to do!”
But I said sir,
I’m just a boy and don’t know what’s to do.

And he said ( Chorus )
“Drifting mainly
Sailin the shores
Taking what’s mine
And leaving what’s yours
Cause you know, we ain’t dead yet.”

Taking the seas for more than eight moons
We found islands and loot
That was bigger than most.
The taste of sea air
With its wind in my hair
Took me away to this new life I lead.

After mopping the deck
He grabbed my hand and screamed
 “Steer this ship boy!”
But I said sir,
I’m just a lad and don’t know where to go.

So the crew yelled	( Chorus )
“Drifting mainly
Sailin the shore
Taking what’s mine
And leaving what’s yours
Cause you know, we ain’t dead yet.”

Surprising to me
Was my unshaven face
The captain looked on
And smiled with grace,
We stopped at a place
Where the women were loose and didn’t mind
If we took a peak.

He said “Now you’re a man so let’s get on that boat,
We got places to be and some people to rope,
So grab that sword and drop that mop
Cause you’re no longer a boy in my eyes.”

I practiced the duel with the men in the crew
The captain took eye to my devilish pride,
And he took me aside and said
“Even in death I’m gonna miss you boy
But don’t let it strike you
Or kill your spirits
Cause even time can beat out the Grim.”

Then in the darkness came fire and screams,
Our vessel had stopped after fourteen years,
The crew fought hard and beat most of the men
But now, my Captain was dead.

We took the new ship watching ours sink deep
Saying goodbye to our drowning escape,
The crew turned towards me and asked
“What do we do?” and I smiled,
And they did to.

And we yelled ( Chorus )
“Drifting mainly
Sailin the shores
Takin what’s mine
And leaving what’s yours
Cause you know, we ain’t dead yet.”

Naturacide

The crying ocean weeps fresh tears
The vacant beach so moist is gone
The sea swells like a throbbing cry
Caught in the throat of loneliness

Nature, tormented by time
Erodes herself and ebbs and flows
With the emotional tides of the moon
As the dawn breaks, fragments, scatters and is gone
The lone nascent emotion sparked within the soul
Embraces the new, the unpredictable
With all sense of time and order lost to the waves
Man falls into new nothingness
And finds sanity among the seasoned sighs of the tide
The warning whispers of the sea

The crying ocean weeps fresh tears
The nascent horizon is swallowed
The sea swells in a throbbing cry
Caught in the throat of despair

It is beautiful

The Devil's Thief

THE DEVIL'S THIEF
Arranged in paradise, by suffering's fate,
to have no end, to be alone and wait,
it was her love, acceptance came so fast
she had no time to think it might not last,
as he, the sailor left, she loved too late;

He'd waited on the dock so long he grew
to be inspired by something she won't do,
'twas just a recognizing love is there
the reaching out for what is everywhere,
but love for her was something all so new;

the sail was set and ties that bound the ship
were heaved away, and thus began the trip,
upon the ocean, far into the sun,
to where the keel was loose and let to run
and sailed right on to where the moon would dip.

She on the shore, he on the watch at three,
both dreaming dreams not ever let to be
but absence makes the heart more fonder yet,
and out of sight means not they will forget;
the ship sailed on, uncharted was the sea;

the gale that came and sank him to the reef,
took from the shore the lady in her grief,
and they were thus to marry, in the sea,
united 'neath the waves, eternally,
depriving love from time, the devil's thief.

STORM

STORM

The calm waters edge
Happily splashing the shore
The look of the calm
So happy and free
The perfect place
Anyone should want to be
Thoughts of friends
Family you wish to share this moment with
The overwhelming feeling of joy
A swirling in your mind
The most amazing scene by mankind
Displayed right before your eyes
You want to cry
At this feeling of pride
The pride and love of what is in front of your eyes
This epic moment
Sun shining to the sea
Such an amazing thing
Between the rays of light on sea
You see such godlike things
This whole feeling bringing you to your feet
For there is nothing like this
This one thing
The joy of this scene
The warmth of the light beaming
The feeling of being free
This perfect view.
As the sun slowly flows down
You sit with it
Staring at the sea
Its depth amazing
What it can hold
All the life inside its depth
The suns gleam
Off this godly thing
Makes you wonder
How such a beautiful thing
Exists in this world of death.
The trees stir
The sun now tucked away
The ocean moves, calm as every other day
Laying down by its edge
You look towards the sky
The stars slowly form
Showing their light
the moon takes the place
As the cool new sun
The crisp air of night
Flooding your mind
Making you lose track of time
Drifting to sleep
You awake in your dreams
The same old scene
Surrounds you
Yet it is not the same joy
The feeling is strange
The sun is clouded
Darkness making the ocean look grey
What was once a nice day
Has been shown to the side of decay
The wind flows around
But in a different tone
The way it moves
No, no something is wrong
The once clear open sky
Now looks to have drowned and died
The soft ocean seems to turn tide
Then the noise.
There is nothing.
The storms fury is coming
Spin, turn, look for a escape
Unable to hear yourself over the gale
You shut your eyes and think of the time
That time...
The one with the nice breeze
The one with the clear sky
The one that made you cry
Cry and cry
Those tears of happiness and content
The beautiful scene
That beautiful time.
the one that there was not a care in sight
the one where stars where shown bright
yes, yes once upon a time...

Deathland continued epilogue

I feel a heavy weight go down, down, down, down, deep down in my chest,
Like an elevator descending rapidly down a deep dark abyss, and fear crashing in from all sides with all the weight of an ocean breaking loose closing from all sides, the loneliness stings like a nest of desert scorpions, and the desperation consumes me like the venom of a cobra annihilating me a living cell at a time,
They tell me “a will, will find a way”, religions tell me “hold the hand and it will lead thee unto the light ”But there is no pot to whip up will from, and I see no shining being`s hand,
I see no end in sight to this journey through the wasteland.
Could it end in a different way? Logic says Nope,
Yet I harbor a secret hope,
This was not my decision my call, this birth, I did not vote to live,
I am tired of all this negativity and some things got to give.
Books say, the body is temporary, so is the pain salvation is the ultimate goal,
All empty words with no solace and I am yet to see my soul.
What good is a salvation unknown when today passes in pain, what good is the miracle if the thirsty pilgrim dies and then it comes down to rain?
Reach out in the dark and you may feel me somewhere,
Wandering, wondering, dreaming, pondering,
Like a man on an endless plain chased by a pride of lions looking out for a tree,
Let the weight fall down, let the ocean drown, let the scorpion`s sting, and let the poison do its thing.
I don’t care, in the end I just want to be free,
No happiness, no sadness, no pain, nothing and into nothingness..
I wish to where it all began,
On the edge of the death land, beyond. Always beyond.

The Ocean

As the waves of the ocean crash,
Little creatures skitter-skatter pitter-patter past
by the shore.

As they turned around, more waves crashed,
And they pitter-pattered skitter-skattered past
by no more.
Taken back, back...
to the depth of the ocean floor.

Drown

The water in my chest,
And my eyes, they burn,
Lungs burst for air,
They are losing all their turn.

My eyes see the light,
That swims in the water,
And as I sink,
My lungs burn hotter.

I try to breathe,
Yet only choke,
I scratch for the surface,
Pray that it be broke.

But I know that I,
Will soon touch sand,
But only beneath the waves,
I will never touch land.

So I close my eyes,
To be engulfed by the dark,
As as i slip away,
Shines bright, the mark.

The deeper I go,
My dress cling to me,
As I drown,
Sink,
To the bottomless sea.

Descent Into The Maelstrom

The maelstrom keeps pulling me inwards,
Whirlpool's spinning slowly downwards.
My strength is waning quickly;
Hope’s waning silently.
Perceive no rescue;
No help’s in view.
Life I'll misss.
Abyss;
Void

The Weeping

And so begins the weeping,
The weeping that comes in waves;
Waves that crash in evening tide
To begin the sorrows fade.
And yet in sorrow I sit,
Melancholy under night;
Night whose air reminds me still
That remembrance is the light.
And who shall be the teller,
The meter for this old song?
Sung in whispers meant for none,
Save for those who may belong.
On air and breeze cries carry,
Yet alone they reach the sea.
And I endure their telling
As the waves crash over me.

Going Down

Gushing waters surround me Swelling . . . swirling, the pressure is whirling The cries are gone But the wind still screams As the timbers of my exhaust Burst in violence at the seams! I am going down I welcome the tempest with a frown Broken mast amidst the swell Purging me deeper in this watery hell Bodies concealed within Soon the pressure will win Southward bound, pell-mell Into the blue, blackened demons of watery hell! Of sickening inevitably do I sail Into the depths of my demise Gone now are the magnificent, mortal cries Swallowed by the bulging sea The wind upon the splintered timber still screams As gleeful as can be! Going down I never knew I would falter and die in the deep dark blue Going down I see Past fly And wave with my sail the Future—goodbye

The Specific Ocean

The point is dull upon the spear,
But still it pierced my greatest fear-
That this pain will always worsen
(My sinking ship so wayward steered)
Through the Ocean of my person
Toward a vortex, alas! Am veered!
I'll sail to Hell- cursed excursion!
But, lo! An island doth appear-
The sea doth swell; to Her a burden
My Vessel and I; 'tis clear! 'Tis clear!
That She vows for our submersion,
Crashing upon the rocks rushed near
Shipwrecked! Incurred Her incursion!
When She, so once to me endeared-
How I wish a diff'rent version
Of our tale that endeth here...

Meeting God At The Ocean

She sat upon the rocks of the golden shore,
hearing the waves of the ocean's roar.
She remembered a time when she was young,
before this cancer had taken her lung.
She sat there gazing out at the ocean,
thinking if her family's loving devotion.
She thought of her husband as her best friend,
hoping his heart would someday mend.
He fought the battle with her each day,
hoping this cancer would go away.
Her doctor told her I'm sorry there is no hope,
somehow she had managed to deal with it and cope.
The waves were choppy, the tide was high,
as she looked at the seagulls slowly fly by.
She felt at peace at this scene of nature,
as she somehow knew she would meet her maker.
The lighthouse was shining off in the distance,
as her body was fighting an agonizing resistance.
She went to the ocean to be closer to God,
for the cancer she was fighting she could not beat the odds.
An angel sat beside her to comfort her with all she endured,
Knowing when she went to Heaven she would be cured.
It was'nt long after she had passed away,
where the cancer no longer had ate her away.
Now she has the home she's always wanted,
where her body is no longer tired or taunted.
Her memory will always be etched in my mind,
In Heaven with God she will forever shine.

Last Words of the Mariner

Lying here in this life’s final berth,
No longer escaping to the sea.
If the greatest lie of all is not birth,
Death is life’s great treachery.

I think back to the times I spent
Sifting through the briny deep,
Deeply inhaling the saliferous scent,
Pleasure enough to make one weep.

The grave awaits me, I now admit,
As mortality is seeping through.
For if eternity is not a infinite pit,
I hope it ends in the quenching blue.

EYE Don't See -Part 1-

My eyes
Pour forth feelings
That I’ve felt in the past
They make my heart ache…
Take it all away…
Oh my God…
They’re making me sink in dismay

When will they break away?
When will they give me a break?

And I’m left in my solitude…
Do you hear me weeping?
And I’m close to my demise…
Only to find myself disappear…
When will peace draw near?

Eye don’t see
A happy ending in this scene

My eyes
Journeys into the unknown
Who knows what will happen…
They’re like hidden treasure…
They’re buried far below…

And I’m left in my solitude…
My eye’s weeping…
And I’m close to my demise…
Only to find myself disappear…
When will peace draw near?

Oh my God…
They’re driving me insane
When will they see my reflection?
When will they heal the infection?

Eye don’t feel
Raindrops of hope and relief
All I feel…is grief…
Eye sense no peace…

And I’m left in my solitude…
My eye’s sagging…from endless mourning
And I’m close to my demise…
Only to find myself disappear…
When will peace draw near?

Does He hear
My supplications?
Does He sense
My fear?

My eyes
Conceals the tears that dare to spew out
I feel trapped and lost without a doubt…
They erase my delight…
They seek my hurt…
Oh my God…
They’re casting me away into the perilous sea

And I’m left in my solitude…
My eye’s weeping…
And I’m close to my demise…
Only to find myself disappear…
When will peace throw out my fear?

Eye don’t see
A ship in sight…to save me from my demise
My lifeless body...
Drifts away in the wild ocean...
Without a sound...
Without emotion...

Eye don’t see
A rope to hold on to…
My hope for peace
Has drowned…

The Grand Old Lady

One hundred year’s young.
The
grand old lady
lying still
in the blackness
of time.

Her great hull
standing silent
weeping for
its precious
cargo.

Shivering vaporous forms
of first class and steerage.
Stroll hand in hand
together to the
surging currents
of the Atlantic.

A vast wardrobe
of scattered luggage,
across the sandy floor.
Small ghostly forms
play chasey among
the tattered decks.

Acid Dawn

Let us rest our heads upon the pillow of denial, turn twilight in the last clear reflection of the silent moon. Where vile droppings fell the freshness of the morning sea, turn to graveyards, lest we be;
...swimming in an acid dawn.

The corpse of shellings, scales a strewn, where once transparent was so blue,
this morning features scarlet hue, as skin is shredded in the burning morn.
Where vile droppings fell the freshness of the morning sea, turn to graveyards,
lest we be;
...swimming in an acid dawn.

...And come mid sun up, we shall bathe;
within sulfuric, petrol waves and drink our lemon juice until we choke.
Till our teeth rot and our tears evoke, the pandora’s box which we awoke.

An orange bright, our arid plight, and we the specks of dust behind;
lurching a dehydrated, evaporated existence. Famine on our minds.
Walking footsteps which no longer walk, dreaming of the past to escape the future as the present seeps our blood and marrow, the desert sun, a piercing arrow, stabbing at our hearts.

We hobble, oh we hobble and we hobble through the wasted years, through bones and makeshift graves, we’ll hobble into the final age;
where vile droppings fell the freshness of the morning sea, turn to graveyards,
lest we be;
...swimming in an acid dawn.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It is estimated that within the next decade or two that the ocean will become so acidic as to dissolve the shells of mollusks and shellfish. This in addition to the already dwindling supply of precious fresh water which we must share with our animal friends. A supply by the way that we contaminate regularly, a supply that simply cannot be renewed.

Desalination was looked upon as the next great solution to water shortage despite it's expense. However considering how the oceans are becoming increasingly polluted due to oil spill after oil spill and Fukushima's constant radioactive leaks, in addition to the acidification of the ocean itself, it appears that we will have no viable water to look forward to in the future.

This is life. Forget profit, it doesn't exist. Nature has no concept of wealth, only of survival. If we all die, everything that we've accomplished will be forgotten, nature has no use for it. Currency will return to being simply paper and stone, and nothing else.

We need to stop thinking about ourselves and think of our children and all the other species that live upon the earth.

Was I Ida Strauss

I have a fear of drowning in deep waters, dark and cold;
I dream the waves are parted revealing Death's threshold.

I wonder, tremb'ling in my bed, if another life I've known;
Is there a body 'neath the sea, dissolved, bone of my bone?

                        * * * * * * * * * * * * *

We boarded the Titanic, her maiden voyage from the shore,
Just the two of us together, me and my husband Isidore.

Grandly cradled on the ocean within the ship of dreams,
Unaware an ice tow'r waited in the frigid, black extremes.

Roast squab and French ice creams, champagne and caviar
Were the first class luxuries, sailing on beneath the stars.

Near midnight the vessel shuddered as though wounded in the heart;
We waited captain's orders to load the lifeboats, disembark.

"Women first!" the crew commanded; older men could also go,
But Isidore would not depart, the truest gentleman I know.

He entreated me to leave the ship, but like Ruth of long ago,
I replied, "We've lived together many years. Where you go, I go."

We faced Death as we faced life, companions to the end . . .
Climbing the staircase to heaven, hand in hand with my best friend.

The story of Isidore and Ida Strauss is true; they were first class passengers on the
Titanic. Isidore was co-owner of Macy's. My connection to Ida is fiction.
The grand staircase on the Titanic was called "the staircase to Heaven."

My Pupils

Fatigued eyes droop, lacking sweet slumber
But my eyes are an exception…everything’s a blur
They stare off into space…they ache with displeasure
But I still wonder… my pupils still wander

My pupils still wander… never planted in one spot
Their cup is half full…rather than half empty
My pupils see what others cannot
Because… their too busy to smell the roses of plenty

My pupils project feelings…
They comprehend – they spiral up and down
They express horrendous sorrows…they observe their surroundings
My belongings are misplaced – my smile lowers into a frown

Optimism isn’t in the picture…bestowing infection
Upon my crestfallen heart
I’m a broken compass – I’m losing my direction
My animated heart tears apart

Their voices are high in volume…rather than using half their volume
My pupils glance in many directions – beaming with glee
Because they’re focusing too much on their social lives…let us resume
On with our soothing music

Intrigued eyes lift…willing to wonder in curiosity
But my eyes swelter, wearily drowning in discouragement
They spot what others are too oblivious to see…
Nonetheless, I still ponder…
Are my pupils singing merrily OR are they wandering in bafflement?

Do I witness the fears and woes?

My pupils reject the precious scenery
They are carefree – they are heedless of my despondency
My pupils forever look forward to freedom…observe the hardships and disparity
My surroundings are chaotic and wild – my heart pounds profoundly…

My pupils…
Oh dear pupils…
Will you ever pay the bills?
Will you ever use your skills?

My heart bleeds in the river mills
My pupils ascend…above the dazzling hills
My pupils spew out remorse
My pupils are like open doors…

beauty that kills

i see an ocean wave crashing with no mercy
destroying everything in its path
i see an ocean wave killing other people
swallowing their houses and their life
all of what they worked for
is now gone,
nobody can save what under the water now
this one wave took everything
killed all of their dreams and hopes
but still it did it so gracefully
that it made me hope
it made me think of flowers
in an open field
flowers so colorful
that even when their asleep
they take your breath away
from the beauty they unleash
a beauty so disastrous
that it kills everything in their path?!!
wow, this beauty's like a curse on earth
it serves as well
but at the same time it kills are hearts
the hearts of people filled with dreams
well, none of that matters now
because their dead and so is their dream
some may have thought of college
after a four year high school degree
they all had hopes just like you and i
well now they dont even have a home
to look out of the window on a long dreadful night
but those who made it out alive
they can still dream
in fact they can make it happen
build a knew hope far away from the water far away from the light
they may even escape the cold dreadful nights
but its useless because even in the desert will they live
a hurricane will start the grief again
so you keep building, keep achieving
going nowhere with your life
just remember you can never run enough
to hide from the wrath of God

Suicide

Standing on the shore, A girl fully clothed with no shoes. Her eyes filled with great suffering.. .lost hope ensues. As she notices the water stretches as far as she can see, her hearts implore won't let her be. The sky changes color. First green to blue then gray. Much to her dismay her shattered emotions now egress. "The color gray, the color gray." her tears profess traveling down her face "Oh, why the color gray." A color so dark, so deep, still allowing you to see the depiction of sadness it brings. To the sky, in her heart, buried deep in her mind. In the sky is that feeling. A very isolated out-pour of a feeling.. a feeling she tryed so desperately deny. The tide, closing in. small foamed waves now landing at her feet. It's so cold, the water. Identical to her, how she feels, all she only knows now. Numbness. Weakness. and her defeated soul. Depleted ..A heart is now left with no beat. She reflects on the lost hope her broken heart tried to hide. Seeing within herself the damage it has done. "Love is it" she says in a soft whisper ".. love is it." The disturbance of the oceans song snatched her out of realization. As she listened to the water, as it forcefully emerges hitting the shore and it's rocks with all it's might, as she listened to the water cascade back towards the ocean only to return hitting harder. The ripples and waves. Uncontrolled, involunterily. She is relieved for the ocean is singing the same song. Her song.."Love is it" she mumbled. "It understands how I feel. It knows exactly what I am going through." She smiles. "Love is it. The beating of my heart, with pain constrained inside it. The utmost sadness. Blinded happiness and misguided hope." The heart lies beat-less... No more discursion: Her last thought before submerging her body deep into the depths of ocean. In acceptance. Drowning. No longer standing on the shore. A girl fully clothed with no shoes.

Living Will

what if there were soft stars in the sky?
what if there were words that made him cry?
what if there were water that could kill?
what if there were fear that kept him still?

The sky does hold the softest stars.
There are words that make him cry.
The water from the open sea, can surely make them die.
And if you fear something a lot, it can keep you still.
For we are only human.
And this is a living will.

I came in

I came in.
Upon a ocean vast I look
Upon a journey I'm sure I took.

I walked alone in a group of others.
Family, friends, sisters, brothers.
Perhaps then I am not alone. For this is all our earthly home.
Then one day my journey ends.
A kiss goodbye farewell to friends.

I walked away into a light.
Free of pain and stress and fright.
I thought for sure the jouney had past.
But what is this? A ocean vast.
Isn't this where?

Columns and Ranks

Columns and Ranks (20140925)

Standing straight in columns and ranks,
Heads newly shaved by the barber,
Carrying guns loaded with blanks:
New recruits after Pearl Harbor.

The Generals inspected troops,
Standing straight in columns and ranks;
Afterwards they broke into groups,
And marched towards the ships’ gangplanks.

They boarded ships with guns and tanks
To England, the Atlantic crossed.
Standing straight in columns and ranks,
They’d free Europe at any cost.

Allied troops endured dire losses;
Gaining a foothold up the banks.
Heroes sleep beneath the crosses
Standing straight in columns and ranks.

Last Breath

LAST BREATH
by Mithiran Ravindran

Like a humungous fish,
I am made for the sea,
My fins go swish
My body weaves through the cascading waves
For the previously crystal-clear sea I crave
The currents of the ocean,
Go mad with pollution
I lie here on the land,
covering with my crimson blood, the sand
My insides are hollow

How I long for krill,
But it is me they kill
The sand is spattered over my body
A wet blanket hides the vast azure sky.
Rain spits from the skies above,
I wish I could see a dove
The symbol of peace and love.

The rain doesn't matter,
I have not one single care on this inhuman sphere,
The humans return with their battering batons,
These soulless creatures never help, only hinder.
My last drop of blood is beaten out of me
By crashing clubs

My heart pounds and pumps,
In my throat is a lump
Approaching rapidly is my menacing death,
My mark on this earth
This is my last breath...

Sorrow

This vast ocean is streching beyond my horizons

this ocean is a dark storm filled hell

My sorrowful waters contain hordes of demons

waiting to pull me down and drown me within its vast emptiness

This ocean will hide me even from my loving angel

who is seeking to free me from its violent grasp

I must survive this frozen place to be reunited with my angel

for i must protect her fragile heart from this evil place

My sorrowfull ocean is forever stretching

and when i came back to sit in front of a burning burning fire

until it dried me to the bone.

and for my skeleton to be hung above your bed

to act as a catcher of your night terrors

and it would work

because you would know that i was magical.

because i swam the whole pacific ocean and back.

Gratitude

Birthdays come but once a year
A day we celebrate, a day to cheer
We all know the day we're born and our age
For birthdays bring us joy or change of stage

The day I celebrated my fourty-ninth year
On the other side of the world fear
Horror for a young girl named Heather
Who was swimming in ocean waters from boat tethered

Swimming around the ocean deep
Working up an appetitate for something to eat
Was a great white shark fourteen feet, whopper
Jaws powerful enough to bite through copper

At home I thought I had turned fifty
I figured this year would be very nifty
My father who was in his nineties
Reminded me that I was only fourty-ninty

In a land way down yonder
A girl named Heather was pulled under
Great white figured she was good meat
Nice and tender a very tasty treat

A girl named Heather was saved
That very day lived to be one to praise
People who worked to keep her alive
She praised God who lives in hearts and on high

Sara lived many years
Saw her grandsons through tears
She was the strength and glue
Who saw her family's problems through

Just in recent years in a land down under
A fourteen foot great white shark did blunder
Caught in a fisherman's net
He'll probably live this mistake regret

No, the fisherman cuts the lines
Frees his catch and shark from bind
Now the shark he named Cindy
Follows him around even when windy

Follows him everywhere he goes
Let's him pet her on her nose
Rub her belly and dorsal fin
She even grunts and tries to grin

Which of these do you think is the most grateful
Heather who is now disable
The shark who was spared his life
Or Sara the mother, grandmother, and wife

(The story about Heather is true. The shark circled and bit her right leg. Then circled and
grabbed her left leg. The people on the boat were hitting the shark and try to pull her into
the boat and the shark took her whole left leg off. She was only attended by a nurse who
was on the boat and radioed a doctor on shore as to what to do. She was 20 hours away
from the nearest doctor. She was lifeflighted to a hospital in California where she had to
have multiple surgeries and now has an artificial leg. The story about the shark caught in
a fisherman's net was really not true. The grandmother here was a true story.)

free verse 1

this is my first time actually trying free verse.
give me your thoughts, where i need improvement or what have you.
any help is appreciated

we live in mingled symmetry
with port holes in our face
stepping back we see the past
while stepping forward its gone again
you see the water rising slow
as if the ocean had swallowed us
dragging us down, further than we thought
but no one has yet to panic
we know the end must come
and come it shall

we looked into the waters depths
to see if its alright
the light has dimmed from the surface
not much is left to see.
a piercing shriek escapes the blue
and reaches inside our ships walls
we wont be back to the ones we loved
but panic we shall not

our blood stays warm in the face of this new threat
the water seeping passed the cracks of the boards
how the ship has withstood so much
none of us can be sure
intact it stays, as we hit the bottom
the cracks get larger with the force
a spray of salty ocean infiltrates
ignoring everything in its path.

The band played on

In my dreams I was on board
As the ocean waved
and the engines roared
As The captain ordered
Full steam ahead
And a lady passed me dressed in red
Her dress of scarlet, fringed with lace
And a delicate mask across her face
Faster, faster the ship sailed on
As the waiters served
And the band played on

In my dreams I was frozen still
As the Cabin crew gave a chilling shrill
Whistles blew
Cries shook the deck
And a lady passed me soaking wet
Her dress of Scarlet, with a fringed lace torn
And a mask of fear she now adorned
Faster, faster the ship sailed on
As the waiters fled
Yet the band played on

In my dreams I was not on board
I was drifting back above it all
Boats were dropped
As passengers fled
But not the lady dressed in red
Her Dress of scarlet with a fringed sash instead
And upon her face a mask of dread
Faster, faster, the ship's crew fought on
As bow she dipped
And the ship was gone

In my dreams I was there I'm sure
Heard children cry, and a sailor swore
Watched the sea as calm restored her pace
And a ship was gone without a trace
A lady watched in a scarlet dress
Her hands in water, sea caressed
Slower, slower, her fingers spread
Mother to the now lost dead
Tears of salt
Her children gone
As the ocean stilled
Yet the band played on

Titanic you have touched me deep
As the memory of the lost who sleep
Beneath the waves, the oceans still
I dream again, and I always will

White Death

Who said snow is beautiful?
It is like poison.
It slowly stings,
Like a carnivorous swarm of bees.

White pellets slice through air
Razor sharp;
A blizzard would be mild.
Pale oceans rise where grass once stood.

It piles up.
And piles up.
Until finally—
It stops.

And remains.
Like the laundry of a dead man;
Lifeless,
It lingers for far too long.

A past renewed

Upon a time once there was a heart, a soul overthrown by fear itself, he wept
His past stood up and drew his breath from his very soul, leaving him almost dead
Challenging time to preserve the love that flowed toward his path nearing ahead
Troubled times, passing heart aches dwelled in his heart where hope was reigned and kept

Breaking in all part, even his dreams feared him, he was dead inside
All was forgotten, a fake smile substituted the once joyous heart that danced and sang
He knew not of hope or ligth to cometh his way any time soon, lost was his self pride
His dreams forgotten past the history of rhyme, where it all began with a big bang

Death walked beside his shadow, they held hands and purple he became
Dark were his hours, it rained all over his soul, soaking in all the floating wrong
Yet his heart stood idly still, in some ways it was fortified and it remained strong
Dark colors overthrew his colorful way of seeing the world, his dreams were tamed

Steping out all love, he sank into depression
Seeing not in life to come, but in eternal darkness did he see an answer to his feel
A shattered spirit slapped his vile vision
The broken yet hard heart looked up and shook hands with bad luck herself, it all was real

The ocean holds many buried bones of braveary that death claimed for her joy
At the bottom of the ocean lay all the dreams and hopes forgotten
Isolation and strife truly made that heart grow rotten
It shattred and it only remained in dust, for dust we were and dust we shall be

Forgotten, only remembered in the pain that followed him, that dwelled at his everday
Falling to the deepest sleep, death herself spoke out
Yelling ugly metaphors, expressing her points to the heart that stood strong and not in doubt
His King came forth the mountains that shook at his sigth, and gave him a past renewed

The Critic

She lived her lifetime by the sea,
her life was one of symmetry,
the rhythm of the waves, in part,
matched the beating of her heart.

At every dawn she walked the shore
and wondered what she was looking for,
it troubled her that she left no trace
as she watched her foot prints be erased.

The ocean just went on and on
ever singing the same sad song,
at night the sky was filled with stars
the darkness intensified her scars.

She tried and tried to paint the sea,
an exercise in futility,
the watercolors and oil paints
restricted her with their restraints.

Photography, too, left her cold,
nothing captured the ocean's hold,
ever changing, never still,
sometime's the motion made her ill.

As she grew old and stayed abed,
the relentless drone played with her head,
the sound no longer gave her peace,
it maddened her, would never cease.

The seagulls that she used to love,
now seemed to mock her from above,
their calls sounded like dreadful laughter
echoing through the wooden rafters.

The ocean now just made her sad,
the pounding waves soon drove her mad,
she closed the shutters, barred the doors,
her morning walks she took no more.

And on a day of pouring rain,
they found her pitiful remains,
she lived a life of obscurity
and died a death of apathy.

Those sent to empty out her house,
(she had no family, had no spouse)
found a treasure trove of works of art,
canvasses painted from her heart.

The art world was astonished by her talent,
to capture the ocean's movement and balance,
in life she looked at her art with shame,
in death her art brought fortune and fame.

Our harshest critics undermine
the talent that we should let shine,
and you know, as well as I,
wherein our harshest critics lie.

Tsunami

You think you’ve got problems
So huge and so great
But then something happens
And you realise its not to late
It puts your problems in perspective
They are minor compared to others
A whole family suddenly wiped out
A sea full of sisters and brothers
The normally serene ocean
The normally peaceful beach
Ferocious sea sucked back in anger
And pounced on those in reach
Throwing its waved high
Hauling its water ahead
A path of mass destruction
A sea of loved ones dead
A woman kneels and weeps
A loved one floating by
The people united in their grief
A sea of desolation they cry
The ocean is their trade
The ocean was their friend
Their worst enemy it became
With such a tragic end
