Keepsakes

His jazz collection fills the spare bedroom
Music man, you see, was his nom de plume

Our wedding album rests on the nightstand
A keepsake for my viewing on demand

The tarnished silver comb that stroked his hair
Lays on the dresser beside his easy chair

The carnation he wore on our wedding day
A keepsake preserved in a glass display

The love notes he sent are bound in a box
I read them again when life deals hard knocks

His old Volvo still sits in the driveway
In it he proposed to his fiancé

I’ve clung to these treasures, lived in the past
Keepsakes from four years that went by too fast

Comfort they bring as he watches from above
John, my husband, the only man I’ve loved

The Lovers Dance

It was their night they shone bright as they danced their sweet dance
Two lovers embraced in their world of romance.

They laughed and they cried as their eyes locked in stare
It was their world for this moment as if no one was there.

And their steps they so flawlessly glided in tune,
To a melody that touched everyone in that room.

Their passion brought envy to onlookers there,
Who secretly questioned their own love affair.

But as the night closed and came to an end
The lovers were blind to what lie round the bend.

The house and the cars and the jobs that went bad
The kids drove them crazy and their savings were drab.

So they fought to hold on to the things in their life,
That caused them so much of their pain and their strife.

They fought with each other like enemies do,
And dismissed in their life everything that was true.

So when sickness and hardships and troubles occurred,
Their vows to commit seemed truly absurd.

Their home and their kids would now take a backseat,
For their moral obligation they chose not to meet.

So I Ask …
What happened to that dance they danced so well?
With passion and truth everyone could tell.

What happened to their dance where they held so tight?
What happened to the wonder of their glorious night?

What happened to the words that charmed their ears?
With a passionate rhythm that brought them to tears.

What happened to those vows that poured from their heart?
The “I love you forever and till death do us part”.

For these aren’t just words we borrow for the day,
From another who tells us this is what we must say.

We say them cause it’s what we feel true in our heart,
It’s a God given blessing we commit from the start.

But these words are now lost as they fall on deaf ears,
Since the pain and the struggles they’ve created these years.

So the lesson here learned dear people of odd,
Is that love is so fragile but made strong with our God.

So stop fighting for power and money or need,
For all of this nonsense is only our greed.

Keep God in your life and he’ll walk you through,
When heartache and pain and losses ensue.

For why commit vows in the eyes of our God,
And not call on him when life gets too hard?

For the truth of our vows we are all meant to see,
is that marriage is not, made of two, but of three

If reading these words ring some truth in your heart,
Decide that today you will make a new start.

Go hug your spouse and say something kind
Don’t let the small stuff cloud up your mind.

We’re all just lost souls who are trying to cope
If not there for each other then where is the hope?

You see, the anger, the fight
that in us abide, Is only the insecure child inside.

So rise up above all this fear and this pain,
And see all the beauty that there is to gain.

By trusting in God and his will for you
Together forever he’ll see you both through.

For life is too short for our miserly ways
cheap on our love hence dreading our days.

He made us to love in all that we do
To wake up each morning and start us a new.

So pray for your spouse, ask God to be kind
To the person you prayed in the beginning to find.

They’re still the same person you loved from the start
But life and it’s troubles have hardened their heart.

You vowed that you’d love them in sickness and health
Now is your chance to show God what you felt.

So rise up my friend, don’t say that you’re through
For what if your loving God gave up on you?

THE WEDDING DAY

The date was set and the church booked up
Invitations sent out, colors picked, and a hall for the sup.

The bridesmaids and groomsmen had all been chosen
For the date for us on the calendar was now frozen.

The Maid of Honor could only one person be
The Best Man knew this day would be crazy.

For all of the planning, the work, and the tension
Would culminate in this day of anticipation.

The minister counseled us and helped us to plan
But the burden was on us, for this day to span.

We wanted everyone to be as happy with us today
That's why we took so long to plan it this way.

The floweres trimmed the aisle along the carpet white
While all our family and friends dressed festively tonight.

The music started to play as the couples walked the aisle
I was reminded not to cry, instead to give a big smile.

It was my turn to walk the walk now
"Don't slip, don't trip, don't cause a row.

It's the day of the wedding and there is my peer
One question remains, "What am I doing here?"

He Left Her a White Rose

Its the morning after the night before
As i leave my new wife, whom i lovingly adore

My orders came through, overseas i head
With my band of brothers, not knowing what's ahead

Married for days, whilst conflict takes him away
Holding sheets where we slept, my memory bouquet

At the bottom of our bed, there lies a virgin white rose
With a note beneath i am in momentary froze

I sit and stare as to what it might say
Knowing this is the day my love flies away

My darling Tinks i leave this white rose for you
Its pristine appearance describes my darling so true

It symbolises you, so innocent so pure
With your love in my heart, i will return i assure

Think of the day, from these distant lands from beyond
For the morning after the night before, we will respond

This virgin white rose, so bridal so pure
You and its safety i will secure, for you to return for our future

The day you come home, it shall lay on our bed
And we will continue our lives, as you have always said

I will go about my tomorrow's, thinking of you every day
And prey that this virgin white rose, never turns deathly grey

If

If I held you close would you mind?

If I said to love me a minute longer would you have time?

If I said to kiss me would i feel that you care?

If I looked at you for hours would you mind that I stared?

If forever is what i wanted would you promise to be true?

If I told you would you believe me If I said I love you?

If all these things I ask of you, you tell me you can do?

Then theres one more question that I have for you .....Is your answer I do?

My Cousin's Wedding

My Cousin's Wedding

Weddings happen here by the dozen
All are fun, especially if a cousin

Get a new outfit, have to look good in the croud
Make the best of the time that is allowed

The bride and groom get set for the night
Alot of time and money go into making sure all goes right

The ceremony is over, the bride and groom set out
The pastor calls them back , marriage license not signed, he shouts (hehe)

The right combination of people, music make a good reception
Where is the beer, head in that direction

Written on the cozie "I'm here for the free beer"
Laughing so much, has us in tears

So many relatives, which kid is for who
Can't remember names, faces will do

The dance floor is open, get out there and shake your booty
Go ahead, get a little fruity

Uncle Johnny does the alligator on the dance floor
Down on the floor, joined by more

It doesn't stop there, the bride leads the pirogue
Like a train behind her, a long line unfolds

Family, friends, togetherness like no other
Before nights end, you will know many others

A Wedding in Autumn's Woodland Chapel

The fall has remnants of the summer, but the day's not hot, and all of our beloved are gathered in a woodland spot. Bearing their good wishes, they have walked the pathway to this autumnal chapel where I'll make my walk to you! Around us, in our wedding colors - fall's most splendid hues - is a bright mélange of flora with a sprinkling of chartreuse. The tallest oak here is the steeple, reaching to the sky; its leafy limbs have framed an arbor made to beautify! Your eyes are dancing, and you wear a sweet, cute pumpkin grin as I approach, adorned in flowing satin, argentine. Our union, blessed like nature dressed in hues of harmony, is sealed with loving kisses under a vermilion tree.

Just a Wedding Day

            Just a Wedding Day

Oh, hear the wedding bells peal out to ring
They clang as if they have no heart to sing

The groom arrives, splendoured in tailed suit
A masquerade that shields a thuggish brute

The parents meeting, warmly shaking hands
Judging; which, the most they cannot stand

The lady guests file in with happy strides
Rueing still the day that they were brides

Here comes the bride, beaming down the aisle
When her bouquet is thrown, so is, her smile

Bridesmaids, they all insist, they are steadfast
Best man repeats aunt’s words “It will not last”

With sincerity, the groom, he says, “I do”
Whilst keeping eye on Sandra in the pew

The vicar smiles with joy and yet beneath
That smile, for the pair, he holds a wreath

United, smiling cheese, they are photo’d
The camera clicks at families juxtaposed.

Loving You is Blissful - My Darling Hubby

Again a small poem guys dedicated to my Darling hubby..
                          wrote by Mrs.Madhavi Suyog Pagare

Loving You is Blissful - My Darling Hubby

 Twilighting glow of the sky..
 Wanna fly so high..

 Sparkling amidst the million stars..
chosen the crazy pal and so life is excellently par..

As like the blossom were kissed by soft rain..
Your arrival in life diminished all my pains..

God has entwined me..with my emarald diamonite gem..
Enlightening new vistas in life as like your next aim..

At an astounding pace time flew..
But When i didn‘t see you..I feel like..Life is been dew..

Your divine presence in life rejuvenates me..
Every tick of my heartbeat resonating wit your‘s or whatever it will be..

Your innumerable naughtiness made me silly..
But yep, your beautifying nature had an fragrance in life like lilly..

As like snow crested the nestled mountains..
You cuddled my persona..like a sip of fountains..

Being With you, Life is euphorically elated..
Full of high spirit and delighted..

Thanks for being accompanying me my theist..

Your admirer with lots n lots of Love:
 Madhavi. Suyog.Pagare

Dreamy Wedding

The wedding bells were in full swing, ringing
The choir in the church was melodiously singing
The groom saw the bride entering with a smile
It took his heartbeat, breath away for a while

He couldn’t wait to make her his wife
He’d imagined with her, his entire life
But before he could face her, came in her brother
He asked in an angry tone “How much do you love her?”

“As much as the sky spreads” he answered, it was true
“Okay then you can marry her” the brother said, “that’s cool”
The bride was now a step ahead, the groom’s heartbeat fast
Before he could see her properly, came before him a task

The mother it was this time, asking him to propose
“Very romantic it should be, else, I’ll oppose”
The groom sat on his knees and said “I love you sweetheart”
“I cannot live even for a sec, even with the thought that we part”

The mother was satisfied, the bride came further
With her next step, the groom faced her father
“You can marry her only on one condition
Give her everything she wishes for, you love should have no limitation”

“Sure” the groom said, and his bride was now before him
But before the priest could start, a lady entered in
“Stop this marriage! I still love you” she said loudly
“Tell me you still love me, don’t marry, and say it proudly”

The bride was surprised, her eyes filled with tears and worry
Just then the lady said, “Oops the wrong marriage, I’m sorry!”
The couple was now happy and they finally got their ceremony right
The groom’s face was lit up and the bride’s was bright

Just then someone called the groom, “Get up son! It’s your wedding today!”
It was then that he realized, it was a dream! But he was sure today was the best day of his life!!

Spring

A little bit confused was beautiful Spring,
She had to choose for life a bridegroom.
Who will give her a wedding ring?
Three men wanted to be her happy and bloom.

March, April and May vied with each other.
About their great love they quietly talked.
April was for Spring like a brother,
With March she just often liked to walk.

Timid March gave her beautiful primroses,
Out of snowdrops he made a wreath,
He didn’t want to know any losses,
He promised her the whole world’s wealth.

Delicate and sweet was April.
He gave her a necklace of brilliant drops.
The life with him could be stable, - he said,
She’d be rich and would get good crops.

A wonderful May pleaded Spring:
You are my love! Take my wedding ring!
Be quick, Spring! Be my wife!
We’d be happy together the whole life.

And Spring trusted the handsome May.
Without any delay she sewed the white dress,
For the veil she took the apples blossoms.
That was her best and the happiest day.

The whole world was whirling in the dance.
May was getting married with Spring!
The Earth was full of love and romance,
Happiness to all this marriage would bring.

the wedding day

white doves and white roses,
white gloves and right poses,
small fingers, big diamonds,
famous singers like beres hammond,

my bride well dress,
my clothes steam pressed,
i kiss her on her cheek,
then watch her tears fall as she speak,

on the mic she speaks loud,
mom in the crowd looking at me proud,
our day is finally its bin a long walk,
she's done her vows its my turn to talk,

so i say" i wear your name on my heart like a crest,
my heart beats for you as if it were your own i must confess,
you've touched me beyond my heart....you touch my soul,
everywhere we go i watch my back because your worth more than gold,
so im told" were a match made in heaven" its written in the sky,
i promise to always love you and never make you cry,
i promise to be honest, faithful and true,
i will never go astray i will only belong to you,
through the good, bad and sick times mental and physical,
i promise to keep the faith and pray an wait for a miracle,
because our love is so strong we will always stay connected,
we have a bond and no man can delfect it,
i know life is not always about a happy endding,
but we have ours because this is or wedding,

now the day is done,
where two have became one,
exit the church doors and enter the white cadilac,
our friend up in front and we in the back,
we both call our boss and then turn off the phone,
thn enjoy ourselves on our honey moon...........

Wedding Bands

Wedding Bands

I placed a ring on her left hand
A plain white gold wedding band

With all my love this ring is from me
I also wore a ring for people to see

Today the rings have become something more
They also tie us together for evermore

Mine is still on my left hand
From my neck hangs her wedding band

I feel her in my heart and in my life
I still think of her as my wife

A New Ferrari

A New Ferrari By Rick Rucker We have changed our plans, We will marry in The Netherlands, The reason is primarily money, It is far cheaper to fly there, with my Honey, An island wedding sounded so romantic, But the travel planning would have been frantic, She has a large family, the logistics of them getting there, I would have lost more of my hair! Other things are still the same: The wedding song, and the singer’s name, Ditto some of the other things, We will still exchange our rings, If you have read some of my poems, You know that I am prone to writing tomes, I will have to cut it short, Lest everyone falls asleep in The Court! Since I am American, they think I am as rich as Ari, So, just to not shatter their faith, I will give each attendee a new Ferrari! Not really, but it sounded good, Please forgive the small falsehood, I am sure they will be overjoyed, To see us, how our spirits are buoyed, There is no way that I could envision, This happiness, to my friend’s derision, They do not believe in love at first sight, I now believe it with all my might!

A SPECIAL LOVE

                                        A SPECIAL LOVE

A love that begins and a love that ends
Two people that were more then friends.

The summer was over and Fall was here
My heart would pound when he was near.

We fell in love with each other over the winter
A spring time wedding and our love is the center.

On our wedding day he couldn't be found
It broke my heart and I fell to the ground.

It killed my love and I lost my trust
For him it was true love not just lust.

I knew there was another man for me
If I looked hard enough there he'ld be.

A Sad Story

What was to be her wedding day,
has turned to putrid shades of grey.
The one who pledged his love for life
has run off with the butcher's wife.

The butcher in a dreadful rage,
followed them to the Fargo stage
and with one of his butcher knives,
ended their false blackhearted lives.

He now sits with the saddened lass,
refills her fully empty glass.
He cries with her in sad lament
at how dismal the day they've spent.

They both have missed the wedding feast.
He says,"We'll have some cake at least."
He cuts the cake with skillful art
and hands to her the biggest part.

For both it's been a trying day
and as the lass begins to sway,
after being wined and glucose fed,
she falls into the butcher's bed.

Wedding ring

A romantic ring, beautiful to behold
…dazzling diamond or gorgeous gold

A symbol of a special synchronization
A real ring, not just for fun or fashion

A romantic ring, not for boys not for beast,
A righteous ring, presented before a priest.

Meant for a married man… a mild ring
Fit for a wise, worthy woman... wedding ring.

A cute curve of kindness, caresses and kiss
Built beautifully, bringing blessings and bliss.

Two Women at a Window, ca.1670

It's another mild day and the sky glows white
The air is still and cool as the midday light

Admirers giggle, perhaps at a young caller
One hunches over, the other stands taller

They don't look wealthy, yet they don't look poor
Perhaps trusted servants, but what can't they ignore?

They've taken jolly notice, as if on a whim
Of a miming youth who should be pruning a limb

Posted at the window the younger one peers
At this croaking lad, flattered by what she hears

Hunching near the potato patch across the way
He waves in a fluster with a few word words to say

He's glances side to side, behind the wall, stepping back
Emerging again from a passageway's crack

Between the tool shed and the gardener's house
He sneaks with the startle and twitch of a mouse

She remains calm, though tickled by his manner
For he might as well wear a bright purple banner

The older woman chuckles in faint squeaks
Hidden by the shutter around which she peeks

The younger one looks quite near seventeen
With floating white sleeves rolled up yet clean

Her girlish neckline, cut wide and low,
Displays to her suitor how well she can sew

Her hair is tucked with a bow on one side
Her grin is reserved with her eyes opened wide

Could her silly boy still have his pruners in hand?
Is he skilled with the saw and tilling the land?

Two women at a window, quite content
Is this how many of their moments this day are spent?

My Lady Love

My rose, my soul, my heart's delight,
Such treachery this wintry night!
My fathers men hath taken thee
And I know not if thou'llst e're be free.

A spy was in the wood that day
When I met with thee and at last did say
How you set me alight with thy smile and thy voice;
How I'd gladly wed thee, were I given a choice.

The man heard my confessions and fled to the king
And said, "Noble sire, dire news I must bring!
Thy son the lord prince is smitten indeed.
But 'tis a peasant girl who has sown love's seed."

As prince I may not marry as I might wish.
Ah! wealth and pow'r are a bittersweet dish.
This is the reason thou wast sent away
But I will come swiftly as soon as I may.

By AnnikaOakinnA

I now gather men who'll support my endeavour,
Who're loyal to me, and we'll all stick together.
We'll whisk thee away, and then thee and I'll marry.
But we must do it quick, not a moment to tarry.

Once we are wedded in Our Father's eyes
My father shant dare bring about our demise.
He'll have to accept that one just can't stand by
And watch, as their love is dispatched to the sky.

And my love, thou'llt be queen! Ah! sweet heavens all bless.
Thou'll be marvelous indeed in thy coronation dress
As in any other, of any shape or hue.
Such is thy beauty, because, I love you.

(He said) I love you

She sits alone as the sun goes down
Like she does almost every night
Knowing he'll come home drunk again
And start another fight

She was so young when she met him
Just sixteen years and a day
She hated her life on the farm
And he promised to take her away

How could she know he was lying
Just feeding her a line
She'd never had any love at home
And his, "I love you" sounded so fine

The sun shone on their wedding day
She was a happy girl
But, too soon the storm clouds gathered
And totally ruined her world

She tried so hard for three long years
Answering to his beck and call
Then one day she packed her bags
An walked away from it all

She knew her love for him had died
She was taking his abuse no more
After writing a note saying, "GO TO HELL"
She walked for the last time, out the door

Our Wedding Day

Our Wedding Day By Rick Rucker I am standing here, with the preacher, My Love, in the back of the church, I cannot reach Her, Now the music begins to play, On this lovely, Blessed day, As She walks between the pews, She is Gorgeous, not any real news, She has a certain Regal air, Today, She seems to not have a care, As She slowly passes by, Men admire Her, women cry, My head feels as if there is no blood in it, Yet, my Heart beats at a mile a minute! Finally, She stops, and turns, If she knew how my Heart yearns, To steal her away, to start our honeymoon, It would surely make Her swoon! Somehow, I remain in place, Staring at her lovely face, I am afraid that I will not last, My heart is beating so darn fast! I want the words to start, Maybe that will slow my heart, The preacher asks the question of me now, And I give my solemn vow, To always hold this woman dear, If he knew Her, my answer would be very clear, Now he asks her the same question, Without a pause, or its suggestion, She says “Yes,” to my relief, I have won the lottery, is my belief! To have the fairest in the land, Standing next to me, a gold ring on her hand! All the rest is just for show, For I will always know, That I have won The Prize, That Winsome Creature, right before my eyes!

Invitation to the Monster's Wedding

  Halucinatrix
           and the Beast
invite you to a fiendish feast.

     Bring a present,
   something fresh,
made of fish or fowl or flesh
  from a unicorn as white
as the moon will be tonight.
             We will dance
  around the tomb,
of the Queen we will exhume,
who will marry us and then,
we'll lay her back to rest again
As we leave the cemetery,
   Throw white lice
  and wish us merry.

    Reception afterwards will be...
on Haunted Hill,
"neath Hangman's Tree.

           Y'all Come !
