Arched burgeoning chrysalis drips
eiderdown flakes; gingerly hung icicles,
jack-o-lanterns keenly luminating meads, nuzzling on--
pensively quilting, restless snowfall; thereabouts ...
undaunted voyages wanderlust xebec yonder zephyr.
* xebec - a small three masted vessel with projected bow stern.
Judith must be punished for her unborn sins,
and haunted by her unborn fears.
She will beg her powerless mother for that
which the Sun and the Moon cannot give.
A trusting child tells with a momentary stare,
that she cannot wait to live,
Yet she cries and bleeds, pure and aware,
as the ghost of a dying God appears.
The smoke and fog of joy, on the barren hills
of promise fade away to reveal,
A clearing where a Mother and Daughter can
find truth in this awkward chastity.
The young women wearing colourful masks of
bliss and happiness have come to heal,
While the dark and jealous crones paint black
portraits of pain and lay beds of misery.
Their betraying love is not real but mere glass,
that by hand has the face of a jewel.
Their offering of hope and trust mean nothing
as they nail Judith’s hands to the stake.
The black vultures of torment, circle,
as the faithful put fires to the fuel.
And her mother’s screaming and lone cries
of anguish, leave none innocent in their wake.
Yet her tortured Mother who gave Judith her life,
smiles exquisitely, as they start.
Together they begin their secret flight, that
lifts them high above this tragedy,
As love and hatred both rip and tear,
at the soul like arrows into a dead heart.
In this painful and mysterious world,
there is no greater form of alchemy,
Than the acceptance of clear blue eyes,
the disarming smile of the condemned in fear,
And the tender sounds of assent,
that are being whispered too soft for some to hear.
Judith will be born tonight , leaden hearts will be golden and doubt will
Be careful taking your first step on the wooden bridge at night,
The dark abyss may entice the careless away from the light,
The serpentine wind will tease and tempt you to give up the fight,
“I warn you, now; the risk is far more than it seems at first sight.”
Some lost souls are made of stronger thread and will not heed the call,
They laugh and run straight out ignoring the risk and the fall,
Rash soldiers who trade a pound of caution for an ounce of gall,
“I warn them of the danger but they do not hear me at all.”
The old dry wood here is rotten and can easily splinter,
I saw a whole family, fall, as if they didn’t matter,
Death waits here and all it needs is another beam to shatter.
“I warn everyone but some take my words as useless chatter.”
I remember well the lovers; oh they were full of mischief,
Adam wanted to meet Eve on the bridge and sneak off like a thief,
Adam was in such a hurry their encounter was very brief.
“It was joyful to hear them promise a love beyond belief.”
Joan was a beautiful young girl, who had lovely words to weave,
“Come my handsome Prince; escort me to heaven, and by your leave,
I will beg your pardon and find the grace to attend your sleeve.”
“What sad alchemy does love perform when faithful hearts believe?”
I recall Mathew, a lively man who crossed the bridge with cheer,
“There isn’t much of a vision when the darkened clouds appear,
I prefer to stoke the fire than watch the Sun disappear.”
“ But when the fire was out he huddled near the bridge in fear.”
I saw, sad old Mark chase a butterfly and fall to his fate,
He had bright colours in his eyes and a gazelle in his gait,
He was too good for this bridge , and fell, and drowned in waves of hate.
“Beware this bridge will silence both the humble and the great.”
I remember my old friend Luke who had his head in the skies,
He told me that the voices spoke to him of secret truths and lies,
I saw him climb over the edge, here, and hang on to the ties,
He held on bravely but soon the visions faded from his eyes.
So I must warn the blind men, to be careful who they follow,
To walk in grace and spare a thought for the ones who lay below,
To be able to cross is easy, there is little to know.
“Walk freely over this ancient bridge but pay me as you go.”
Besides love men need fishing,
And for both, most are wishing,
Catching trophies chosen best,
To be envied by the rest.
Fishing is a game of sport
Loved by all, both tall and short.
We must fool the fish’s eye,
If we plan to stir and fry,
Some use boats while others wade,
As they fish the sun or shade.
Ice-cold drinks help pass the day,
While life’s troubles fade away.
Most men feel they've everything,
With their rod, hook, cork and string.
Be it river, pond or lake,
We all pray our line won't break.

He has been stepped on
He has been hated on
But he still stands and rises above pain
Wars came, left relatives dead
He cried, he trembled
But he still stands
Once regretted his birth
Once thought of taking his life.
Thunder strikes and that’s enough
To make him gain strength
To aim higher and rise above pain
He is now rising above pain
Trying everything to clean his brain
If he was created in God’s image?
Why can’t God take care of His image?
Questions he couldn’t find answers to
Friends all gone,
The only family he has ever known
Streets become his home,
Starving to death,
Could not hold his breath
But still standing strong
And promises to rise above pain..
