You Mother of All Evils

You,* Hard-of-hearing, Dweller of darkness, Mother of all evils: Ignorance! You, who are unable To hear the truth, Even though it is spoken Through the mouth of Thunder, But who easily discern The fainting whispers Of monstrous lies! Why don’t you open, for once, Your detrimental prison Of calamitous darkness, And allow luminous knowledge To establish its dominion of peace For the sake of suffering humanity? © Demetrios Trifiatis 05 November 2015 * FROM MY RECENTLY PUBLISHED BOOK: This poem is one of many poems that are included in my poetry book on peace entitled “ An Aegean Breeze of Peace” that was recently published by “innerchildpress” and is available at Innerchildpress.com, Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.fr, Amazon.de, and Amazon.co.jp It is a book that I, Demetrios Trifiatis and co-author, hulya n. Yilmaz, a Liberal Arts Professor at The Pennsylvania State University, has written. Dr. Yilmaz, a wonderful lady whom I consider as my sister, was born in Turkey. As you may know, Turkey and Greece have been at war, on and off, for more than a thousand years. I, for those who do not know me, have got a Ph. D in philosophy, has studied in Canada, and was born in Greece. Dr. Yilmaz and I thought to join forces to write this book in order to let our countrymen and the world know that war is not the answer but peace is! Thank you all peace-loving people for your attention.

You put this in a book where the title reads PEACE? You are most brave. Personally I reckon the poem is great, got quite a chuckle out of it. Though I'd hardly call it a poem of peace :D

Demetrios, I agree with you. I agree with your poem. It is rarely heard in this world a voice of such truth and honesty. On reading these insightful words, my chuckle was one of release. Thank you Demetrios for bringing to life this fabulous poem, may the sun and peace shine forever on you.

YES, I HAVE! I wanted to stress one of the main causes of war! In the book of peace is not the only poem of course and it is not only poems about peace but of the human psyche as a whole. Yes, you could say I am brave for I have fought for peace and I am one of the founders of two peace organizations. One's love of peace is shown not only by his writing but by his actions! Thank you dear friend, Scott thirtyseven, for your visit and comment! Now, if you will not call it a poem of peace then you are entitled to! I would love to see your book on peace! God bless you! PS: If you got a chuckle out of this poem then you and peace are not compatible!

Demetrios I'm ordering the book today my friend. Congratulations to you and Dr. Yilmaz. Your love for humanity inspired by our Lord is manifested in your heart. Your goal to bring peace is one which your Lord would want. Dr Yilmaz is another example of our Gods power to bring nations together for peace. I pray your efforts take hold of both Countries and bring about a peaceful change my friend. Ignorance is dark and is the devils work. It is a wall that needs to be torn down. I applaud you!!!!!

Reading your comment dear, nette, it came to my mind someone who back in 1983 had "prophesized" that "one day I will write a book that will be sold like hotdogs" I like hotdogs and I like hotcakes either will do. Ha-ha! Well, thank you for your kind words but here in Greece things do not happen. Probably in USA.

For me, I have written more in the past three years than in the preceding twenty. I sometimes wonder when the words will stop flowing. In the meantime I will experience it as best I can.
