You Might Shed a Tear Or Two

You might shed a tear or two Happy in the face of death That shield that covers your eyes Is merely skin And through it I can see you searching I was eighteen, and you were not And, yes, my tears dripped almost endlessly Yet were absorbed into my shirt But your single tear Could swamp a whole city Brace yourself Hold the flood gates You wouldn’t want anyone to see you cry, Would you?
