Writing Style Guide

Word pictures form, word visions come; Ripe with sheer oomph, ripe with new ooze; Indulge bold norms, indulge pure sums; Touch works to groom, touch wakes from snooze; Impact designs, impact defines; Note bust and boom, note flash and juice; Glimpse and align, glimpse and refine. Start with clear thought, start with words plain; Think well and say, think tact and cite; Yield vibrant plot, yield wisdom heard; Let truth weave play, let trust now write; End with fine lot, end with clear words. Give ideas room, give writing space; Use language plain, use sentence brief; Ink beyond gloom, ink special trace; Do write for gain, do feel each grief; Expose fine bloom, expose fond face. Dear Nette: Glad you like this piece. I bought a Writing Style Book from The Economist and after browsing through the guide put the book down. A while later, while watching TV, started penning these lines briskly on paper. So that's that. Thanks for your kind words. Leon

Dear Tim: Hope you're getting used to your new work schedule which you briefly touched on in your last post. Thank you for being so generous with your comments. It really helps to keep the creative juices flowing. When I wrote this piece, I was wondering to myself, man are you OK writing this poem? Just my self-talk critique! Leon
