Wondering Moon - For Contest
Wondering Moon
Slowly winking
as I saunter amid the stars
I wonder
are you watching me,
keeping tabs
on my cat-like grin.
Sun bathing
above your darkness
I reflect
on your days,
dim the lights
so that lovers
may lean close
and smile.
Creating
cloud swept shadows
that arouse
howling applause,
camouflaged hunters
amid a living nocturne.
Inspiring
the muse – to write
the voice – to sing
hearts – to bond
love – to shed its blush
owls – to question me.
My slow blink,
“graveyard shift” yawn,
cosmic REM
of nature’s nap
a thank you
to the lovers
the dreamers
the Sun.
