Without Knowing

Without Knowing Walking the streets The sun shining bright Hearing the screams of the condemned Locked In towers of steel Hiding behind walls of glass They watch me walk by Dreaming of freedom Their thoughts are controlled Creativity has been taken and destroyed They have to think what their keepers tell them Money is an all-powerful god Life is made for endless toil at their command Initiative is crushed before it takes root Individual thoughts are forbidden Walking by I feel pity for the ones I see They will never know the beauty of a flower The wonder of a newborn baby kitten They only know the walls of their prison And the thoughts of their warden With no hope of ever learning better They serve their lives away Without ever knowing
