Who Is Actually Out There

Who is actually out there That the multitudes believe What religion is really there That they all see How many are actually out there That makes them all believe What religions are actually out there That they all see and believe How do they know they are there What have they seen that they believe All their religions they say that are out there That have never ever been seen So many scripts and fables Passed down through the times Passages from village elders Etched and changed their minds Do believers look back even further To well over two thousand years When the village elders decided To suppress, enhance their fears Do believers go back even further When the land produced their gods Volcanoes, lightning and thunder Became their staff, their rod As I return from beyond the dark On travels that you can't comprehend Others actually know where you came from If told would send you round the bend All that you believe in Was passed down through the years The elders of human history Suppressed you, to contain your fears . http://www.thehighlanderspoems.com/life-6.php

Congratulations James, on your success in the “Tending The Sprouts” contest sponsored by: Catie Lindsey with this thought provoking poem. It's easy to see why you placed. Your poetic skills shine. Lovingly, Dane Ann PS Did you ever have a chance to read my "Genesis Decoded" on my redbubble sight?

Wow, Highlander! Are you trying to start a riot here?? LOL. Great introspective write. Well, we all have different beliefs and gods. Regardless of all the tales and fables, I believe there's only one God who lived His Word. He's the only one who ever died and resurrected. He's the only one who offered unconditional love to all. So my faith rests in Him. Peace and love, Audrey

Much food for thought here, James. As for myself, I've always been open to all tenets of religion, have read everything from Judaism to Christian Science. I find the less I think of structure the better. You can bet you'll open a can-of-worms with this one. Love, daver

This is truly a brilliant piece of work presenting thoughts that compel the reader to dig deeper. So many cultures have deities, Christianity being the most prevalent in States and Europe. I think John Freeman stated my beliefs accurately when he said, "God is love." In millenia past people feared their gods -- natural elements you describe. Faith stems from a desire to believe there is a guiding force in the universe andencourages us to lead good lives. Much Love, Carolyn

Yes, I am aware that traditions and stories have been handed down and things like throwing a virgin in a volcano to stop it from erupting, etc. Everyone should think for themselves and learn so that they can make their own decision but there is a power that can draw all men unto him. Great thought provoking write. May you have many more thoughts along this line. Keep the faith questioning writes coming and keep us all thinking. Sara
