Who I Am
Who I Am
by Joan May Donnelly Ellis
November 20 2015
I care not for charm nor empty promises
I care not for fame nor degree
I care not for friendship
With the corrupt elite society
All I care for is justice, honesty, and love
I care for the freedom that is everyones right
Granted by the Good Lord above
Just enough on the table
Just enough to get by
And a big enough heart to hear and answer
The mournful cry
Of those less fortunate than I
I am not impressed by your jewelry
Nor your accumulation of wealth
I am not impressed by your wardrobe
And your beauty is of no account
If you entertain strangers
If your door is open and welcomes the lost
If your soul belongs to the Master
And you trust Him and you fear not the cost
Then you are whom I am seeking
With you my destiny is achieved
With you there is a bright tomorrow
And in goodness I can believe.
