Where the Pomegranates Grow

Where the Pomegranates Grow Outside the city where the pomegranates grow, Adonis I met strolling through an orchard row. Paradise it was being with my enamored beau, who adorned me with wildflowers from head to toe... just outside the city where the pomegranates grow. Youthful and carefree, we loved unabashedly, for the gods had blessed us so abundantly. Unbreakable was our bond and passionately, we promised to love each other eternally... just outside the city where the pomegranates grow. Outside the city where the pomegranates grow, we’d glitter like fireflies in a mystical love tableau. Igniting cool nights with our warm golden glow, we were twinkling stars in love forevermore... just outside the city where the pomegranates grow. 04-23-2016

Hi, Pandita. Dropped by and read your wonderful poem. Your poem has triggered a thought about the pomegranate tree reference in The Kite Runner especially after reading about your son in Afghanistan. Also, your name is very intriguing to me as Pandita means a very scholarly woman in Hindi. I wonder if there is a link with India. Take care abpnd keep on writing regardless. ~karam~

Hi Karam, I am so delighted that you enjoyed this piece! My father (now deceased) passed his love of India on to me. He was a great admirer of freedom fighter Motilal Nehru and named me after his daughter Vijaya Lakshmi Pandit and the great Pandita Ramabai. One day I hope to visit Indial! Thank you my friend for encouraging me to write ! Have a wonderful weekend! Pandita

Hi Andie, you're so sweet to visit and leave your wonderful comments which warm my heart! I have only posted here and there as I try to juggle responsibilities at work and at home. There is a lot going on with my elderly mom sick and my older son who is deploying to Afghanistan next week; so you can understand how preoccupied I have been. Every time, I try to get back in the swing of things, something crops up that needs my attention. But I'm hanging in there:-)! Hugs. Pandita

Hi Pandita, I really enjoyed reading this beautiful lyric! It takes me back to another place and time and I especially love the imagery and flow of your story - like something from before the fall of Pompeii. Good luck in the contest and a 7. Kika
