Where I Go When I Close My Eyes

We fly into darkness I have no wings but the west winds carry me Landing softly on soil, tangled in dreams and memories I travel to find you, resting oh so peacefully, eternally Lilies gathered in soiled fingers I am so happy, I can hardly breath Continuing to travel I walk, though the Sands of Time begin to burn my feet Reaching my destination, my spirit begins to soar Your placid stone countenance dances with my smile 'We are not alone,' you say And then I see the child Begin to dance around you But she fades to mist within your arms I place the flowers at your feet And savor the midnight air I find myself lying on the ground Allowing your soul to surround me As I rest my head before your grave and fall asleep I think to myself, ...'We are free..'
