When I Sit In My Soft Warm Chair

My living room is filled with lots of fun. So that when I sit in my warm soft chair, It raises my mood when I’m feeling glum, With whimsical animals everywhere. Some sit on the floor, some hang on the wall. Funny fat pigs and giraffes that stare, And on a tall bookcase guarding them all, Elephants with trunks pointed in the air. They are like my friends, a comfort to me. If I need a laugh they are always there. ‘Tho inanimate they give lots of glee, Just as a small child with a teddy bear. Joy can be found just about anywhere Even when I sit in my soft warm chair.

Hi Betty and just to let you know you're not alone in hanging on to 'whimsical' items. Many of which bring back vey personal and loving memories. Pauline and I admit to having such "items" in our home. Some were given as reminders of early days from friends now gone to their reward. Others bring back memories of holidays. As we grow older, memories associated with the knick knacks we keep, allow us to reminisce on early days when life seemed endless. Fondest regards. Denis.

I assume this is from s child's perspective? I'm a little lost, but I enjoyed the write with my assumption in place. I think a child would love hearing it read aloud, just as I did from the simple things it amplifies as pleasure and security. 2nd Line - read again "that when". Truly enjoyed it ... CayCay

Thanks CayCay for the heads up on that line. Should probably have said it differently, however it is from my point of view. I am 73 and do have some treasured animal characters sitting around that either I have collected or were given to me by dear friends. I like to include them in my space, especially if they are funny. Not too many but just enough to make me smile. Glad you enjoyed it. Betty
