What Could Have Been

What Could Have Been I lie awake and feel the pain I dream about what might have been if only you were the one who took my hand and led me home but dreams are where we hide from life with all it's sadness and it's strife I needed you this lonely night to make me smile to make it right and say the words I need to hear so sorry... I'll make you happy dear but all I see is an empty heart I should have known it from the start for one as singular as you could never love with love that's true you never saw my love for you and left me here to muddle through I see you standing near the edge of unexpected love thus pledged only to walk away to stay well this is all I have to say may your dreams tonight awaken you to feel the pain the way I do when your true love denies you too and tears of sorrow soak you through my love... if only... you were the one who took my hand and led me home my pain would finally set me free and you would always be with me Author: Mary Thompson ..2011
