Voices In the Dark
Voices in the dark
You walk the halls of your mind groping in the dark
Looking for the room of memories of your heart
The first door you come upon is old and tattered
You were about to go inside until you heard chatter
It was coming from a door marked “do not enter”
Chained and locked with a peep hole in the center
The voices were pleading for you to unlock the door
Promising you the happiest of memories oh so pure
Putting your eye against the peep hole to look inside
But all you could see is darkness where the voices hide
They plead with you to unlock the door and come on in
But why would I lock up my memories of my heart within
Then you remember why you chained and lock this door
This is the place all your hurt and shame have been stored
The voices get louder and more demanding to be set free
A voice louder than the others cries out you need to see
You can’t lock us up forever we will escape some day
It’s time to shine a light on us and we will go away
