Visage of Sweet Bliss
My visage of bliss is disappearing
the rampaging world and the bitter harvests of disappointments
threaten to tear down the solitude I have built around myself
they tear at the very fiber of my soul until,
shredded and flailing in the wind,
I look once again towards you and your quiet strength,
emanating peace and love,
with the twinkle of life in your sky blue eyes
I see you standing tall and proud and I know that I can lean on you
and you will help me through the hard times, as well as share the good
You are in my heart always, and I carry your goodness till the end
for your blood courses in my veins, and gives me strength when I no longer have any to give
And even though you have passed from this earthly life, you remain a steadfast
visage of sweet bliss in a tired world gone awry
where I can feed my soul on your strength and gather the energy to carry on one more day.
dedicated to my father who passed from this life 1-1-98
