Untitled
Our future lies behind us now
We've no more dreams, no fields to plow
Without complaint for what we did
We gave back more than we took out
We wandered down a different path
The road not taken was our map
And though the end lies just ahead
There's nothing more that we would ask
So step aboard the ferry, dear
We'll sail through sunset without fear
There are no byways left to choose
Now that our journey brought us here
Please take my hand and gently squeeze
Consume the pleasant, tender breeze
No need for rage at dying light
With eyes unclosed we'll enter sleep
Some sense of us will linger on
Through friendships nurtured all along
But once the last of them departs
All thoughts of us will then be gone
Though none will know about us
The world still spins without us
