Unrevised Reflection

We poets despise money That is what some people say and think However despite being a poet I do play the scratch off lottery at times I won $40 and more recently $10 I felt good As a poet should When counting his or her cash Won by guile or work Almost came to an end So peace and love is what I send Poetry won't make you rich And revising is such a ***** But I send out these free verse lines In the hope that at times You'll gaze at my verse And for better or worse You'll know what I think Poetry is safer than drink Should you encounter an ode of mine in the News Please give some thought to what I have wrought You can appreciate it - even without any booze
