Unnatural Food Chain

British Petroleum digs deadly holes, never to atone,
Viscous tar ablaze the sea, oil rigs drill and blunder.
As ghoulish, golden hands rely upon the dead-zone,
Beneath the butterfly lily, and ocean days of summer.

We sanctify this vicious crude eagerly, spoiling the earth,
Our leaders tongues digest the lies to clean-up this disaster.
While hydrocarbons depend upon this dark and lifeless turf,
And gallows of steel hidden cloaks, drill wells even faster.

Our citizens of ice and stone are blatantly detached,
Owners greedy to exchange, decayed plankton to deliver,
Consumer complacency is taking our futures back.
As lifeless toxic sludge thrives let all creation quiver.

Our country boasts of freedom and human rights.
As small fish die and feed bigger fish who then expire,
While politicians detach from this eyeless, micro biotic plight.
This unnatural food chain feeds only upon our own desires.
