Unforgotten Friend

I remember when we first met, my daughter ran off to your special yard, she must have known you had two wonderful kids and known she would be safe. We met under uncertain circumstances, your approaching me, Oh how I wish I could flee, please be kind, she has autism, she didn't mean you no harm. We continue to meet, as she likes to run off, we honestly are trying to keep her safe, I could explain the dangers of autism, but I doubt you would understand, usually all that I get is a stern cold stare. Yet, you tirelessly keep helping me find her, with running around the neighborhood. We meet again in your yard, this time to play and chat, ever so kind, you are the perfect host. I look at my daughter playing nicely with your loved ones, and I feel myself close to tears, you look at my tear covered face, you reach your hand over and give me a squeeze, I feel instantly comforted, what a priceless gift. We no longer meet, I must have said something wrong, that's nothing new, I was trying to help you, but it as usually fails. Please forgive me Vanessa, you really meant a lot to me. You will always be an "unforgotten Friend."
