Unaware

The sky is slowly melting as the sun blisters through, The forecast is capping near one hundred twenty-two. Birds stopped chirping, squirrels left without a clue, Water trickles slowly, no trace of brilliant blue, Oh such loving grandfather with inventions fresh and new, Why were you so unaware of what global warming would do? .......................................... I am grandma now. Not grandpa. Haha. Well. Most of us are not into science. It is too bad those smart guys were not promoted by the media or something!!

Joseph Fourier first suggested in the 1820s that gases in the Earth’s atmosphere trap heat and help keep the planet warm, coining the term greenhouse effect. Physicist John Tyndall later extended the theory by identifying that gases, such as carbon dioxide and methane, were responsible for the warming. It was logical to assume the possibility that more heat is trapped with the huge increase of emissions. My question is not of blame - it is why weren't these issues important enough to address in the "modern world" of the early 20th century before the damage was done? For me, this is the biggest lesson I learned from "grandfather". Will the positive effect of future invention be complete - tested with all theories of cause/effect? Sorry, grandfather, I ramble! LOL!

I think my grandpa was a lot older than yours was. haha!! Believe me, when mine died, this issue was hardly a blip on the radar!

"Grandfather" was aware of pollution and the greenhouse effect but was a bit cavalier about dealing with it. I am not blaming him, I simply asked the question, how could he not be aware of the dangers? I agree concerning what we know now and what we don't do to remedy problems. Thanks for your visit and your comments! Jesse
