'twas the Day Before Christmas Eve

‘Twas the day before Christmas eve We gathered at the church All sat transfixed Not even a lurch The preacher was ‘hot’ And spoke of the stress He wanted the people To hear and be blessed “We have to remember What Christmas is about The birth of our Savior” Then someone did shout! It’s not about the gifts ‘Though we should always be a giver It’s about He who came Bringing Life from ‘The River’ Now what is the reason If just a ‘holiday’ is this Without the birth of Jesus Another meaning is a miss So if you’ve given in To the hustle and bustle And can’t find rest Because of the tussle Just think on these things That Jesus was born Remembering why We celebrate Christmas morn He came to bring peace Give us access to heaven All should honor Jesus On this day given So there’s hope for the world To all who believe In Him you’ll find rest Just ask and receive
