Tthe Portrait
I saw you there on dew kissed green beneath a the shading oak
no masters hand could emulate the beauty of each stroke
in sunlight dappled glory you turned with Elven grace
as sunlight’s sweet benevolence adorned your smiling face
What artist’s brush or palette hue would envy such as this
Or offer humble canvas that grateful eyes might kiss
Gracious and coquettish charm entranced my softened eye
and I dreamed for one sweet moment that on eagles wings I’d fly
and there we’d sit forever in that sunlight dappled place
[eating pickled gherkins fish and chips, cod of course not plaice]
Alternative last line for the true romantic
[A portrait of two lovers lost in a portraits timeless grace.]
