remembering you I remember my mother tracing newborn wrinkles eyes clenched fists and tears kissing my toes though terrified of death, birth seems like a miracle didn’t I too once wail inconsolably for the joy of being alive I want to pluck poems from your tender voice but I won’t anymore from the newly old a faint echo cries
