Translator's Note
remembering you
I remember my mother
tracing newborn wrinkles
eyes clenched
fists and tears
kissing my toes
though terrified
of death, birth
seems like a miracle
didn’t I too
once wail inconsolably
for the joy of being alive
I want to pluck poems
from your tender voice
but I won’t anymore
from the newly old
a faint echo cries
