Tragedy In Black

Obsessions jumped into his mind The haunting unwanted kind Unable to write off He's a man of cloth. Sexual images invade No relief when he prayed A parishioner's wife Was dealing with strife He could barely hear her pain His compulsive impulses to restrain. Jealous of what her husband had His black thoughts evolved into bad Suicide was unacceptable by conviction He imposed emotional self-infliction Lost in dark depression and anxiety He left and could never return to piety. Deep and dark, just what the contest is about. In real life I could see this getting much darker. It's interesting that his convictions kept him from suicide but allowed his other indiscretion. What is the bigger sin? Very well written, the first 5 lines very much the way a man thinks, desire and guilt, often at the same time. Great write, Barbara
