Today My Mother
Today a hummingbird flew by my face
She proceeded to land with so much grace
She stared at me and cocked her head
In my eyes I could see, in my heart she had read
Today I saw the shape of an angel in the clouds
She winked at me and waved so proud
As her shape changed to a heart so far above
I knew you were there spreading your love
Today in my yard, a rose bloomed so huge
It's colors so bright and seeming a fugue
Each petal was perfect and delicate too
Today that rose reminded me of you
Today my heart feels heavy and sad
But I know you are telling me please be glad
Today was the day you left this earth
It's been one year since you left family and hearth
Today I lost a mother and best friend
My world as I knew it crashed to an end
Today you have shown me to look all around
In all you will see me as I am no longer bound
Today you have shown me to dry my tears
I am no longer in pain, I no longer fear
Look to your heart, you will find me there
In all things you do, do them with care
My daughters, my sons, my husband and grandchildren too
Today believe me when I say I am always with you
I will be with you always, I am never away
By your side I remain each and every day
