To Megan

Her hair spread out across her cloud-like pillow, Her breathing soothing, that of a whispering Willow tree, drooping from its banks on a river Of endless peace. And as I watch her sleeping Her dreams come softly seeping, slipping from her face and the smile that it bore. Though past her window the night may be stormy, there is no hint of life so thorny past the shadow of her door. For here there lies a blissful maiden, encased in sleep so heavy laden, not with burden but of balance and happiness in love’s eternal shores. I trace a finger Along her spine, imagining every groove, every line To the dimples on her lower back and I forget all Sense of time and space and time and space. And as she murmurs in her doze I chuckle, And I glance at all the clothing cluttered, spread So neatly and not sparingly, across the bedroom floor. And with her breath on my neck, I feel her lips gentle peck, peck into my lonely chest and spill it on the floor In this room of gentle warm embrace, I find my heart, my very gentle soul, encased.
