Oh euthanasia, death's sweet song, your word so smoothly flows along. I can no longer bear his pain; my love and prayers were all in vain. His eyes are pleading for this wrong. Oh euthanasia, death's sweet song, you soothe my heart to set him free; his frantic words are begging me. Those pills are there, upon the stand; I reach for them with shaking hand. Oh, euthanasia, death's sweet song, says that his pain's gone on too long. His heart is pleading, mine stands still; he drinks the nectar to fulfill release from pain...his peace, now strong; Oh, euthanasia, death's sweet song. This is a hauntingly beautiful poem. I understand it completely as I watched both my parents die of cancer. Congratulations....

I must admit that the jury is out in my mind whether euthanasia is okay or not. However we do put down animals to relieve them of misery, yet expect our loved ones to undergo terrible suffering. Thought provoking write.

It is hard for me to be inspired for this contest because I don't harbor any murderous thoughts, but I see a doable idea was done by you and oh, so well. This is real life, a situation many good people face and I think your emotional poem is most touching, lovely and sad all rolled together. CayCay

Hi Sandra, This is good take on the theme of the contest. I really don't believe in euthanasia but you composed a good piece. The main character was so distraught and in so much pain as well. But in the end they couldn't bare to see their loved one suffer anymore. Excellent job! Good luck in the contest 7:-) Alexis

Very thought provoking write and emotive. I do believe in euthanasia and think it is a right. Richard Dreyfuss once made a movie entitled,"Whose Life is it Anyway" It will give one a whole new outlook on the practice. I hope I have the opportunity and the guts! Good luck in contest Mrs. Sandra.

Hi Daniel, thank you for your visit and supportive comments. Not so sure how I feel about the subject, but I thought it would be a 'more gentle way' to approach the contest theme of 'murder'! Sandra
