Thoughts of A Free Spirit

You looked windswept and white
as you listened to me
reading poetry
sand and sea filled the air
and the breeze moved your hair
you were quite unaware
of the gathering storm

Did your heart never know
did your soul never sense
how intense
was my need to be free?
Like the call of the sea
like tranquillity
there was always the risk
I would flee
