This Modern Day

There are some things that I don't like In these modern situations. In my old fashioned way I think Nose rings are abominations. But you ask what it is I like, I've lots to say about that too. I like that we're more accepting Of others in ways that are new. The brave marchers of the Sixties Brought on these changes that are good. Everyone is more respected, Although perhaps not understood. Our modern electronic gadgets Has the world at our beck and call. Friends as near as my finger tips Make these last years my best of all.

Congratulations on receiving honors for your poem on contemporary life. I am not so sure all the instant communication is always good.

You will have many more years, Joyce, but I like the way you wax nostalgically on the '60s and the positive changes that emerged. The modern gadgets are often frustrating (especially computers), but at least I was able to connect with a friend who lives on the other side of the country. Beautifully written, dear friend. Haven't been well, so I am not online very often. Love you, Carolyn
