The Works of Fire
I wrote this on the Fourth of July in '09. I was watching the fireworks with my half
sister, Shannon. This is for her.
The lights that dance in the sky,
The sounds that echo from way up high,
The brilliance of it all.
The way lights and colors shine at a glance,
The way they call people all by chance,
I always answer to its call.
The happiness and joy they bring,
How they make even the sour ones sing,
And watch them all, until they fall.
