*A note about this poem.  It was written by candle light during the week power was off following Hurricane Matthew.  I had only a broken window, but the high winds blew off the roofs of many neighbors.  One roof landed in my yard.  It was quite eerie to be in the dark, listening to howling winds and flying debris outside.

When power and water won’t flow It may seem you’ve no place to go “Dark Side of the Moon” by Pink Floyd Ushers you deep into the void Where thick clouds prohibit all light And eyes are not vessels for sight Man’s ultimate fate seems so near But acceptance diminishes fear Struggles that began in the womb Are dismissed when you reach the tomb The song that your mind can’t release Evokes feelings of lasting peace All lovers and others who fled Leaving scars that stung as they bled Become vague as memories fade On the cosmic altar they are laid Your soul rises, unfettered now Exiting life’s stage with a bow October 20, 2016

CArolyn this is almost a matching piece to the theme of that one of mine you recently commented on. The world becomes so surreal as we face our mortality and we think of all the things of the past. GREAT job here. I am glad I found this gem I previously missed.

This is the first poem I posted after my power and internet service was returned after Hurricane Matthew. I definitely saw the connection when I read yours. Thanks for reading!

Your poem dives into the dark corners of the human soul. It needs courage to be there and lighten them up, but for me, seems the only way to make the great pace that gets you closer to catharsis! Thank you Carolyn, thank you Pink Floyd!

This is excellent, Carolyn; the void is replaced by poetic beauty, words that flow naturally and unrestrained. I see that Pink Floyd can be quite a source of inspiration! Now...let me read it again! Hugs // paul

When my gem stone contest ends, I look forward to doing another co-write with you, Paul. Our words seem to flow together and I enjoy our collaborations so much.

Thank you, Tim. Prayers are still needed for many hurricane victims.
