The Valise
The Valise
The brief case has edges and mystery surrounds it
Accompanied by men on the periphery of law disordered
Perhaps the economy there is equal to Greece and Spain combined
Fiduciary responsibilities and pride at stake
If the case is as empty as their souls
We must surmise the worst
But we continue with the game
The shady characters begin a string of lies
Inventing skeleton keys and ghost diversions
No way to open it, is peppered in their pleadings
Gone missing mysteriously at the moment of our need
To everyone’s surprise, theatrics come alive with animated cries
In this instance though, no brief or key to show
The loss serves only to close what is or was the deal
As dirty as that might be
Another nuance, wrinkle, bump comes on the road of reason
These so called bankers, strangers, entrusted, vetted by themselves
Some squirrels and dogs along the trail jumped in to vouch for them
According to the tale
Gave oaths to their integrity by barking and squirreling very loud
Their keepers also vindicated them, validated their misdeeds
And the missing mysterious key
Promising solid facts against the fiction
Still the valise remained unopened
More than just delicious is the hysteria at hand
Creating ample bait and reason to proceed
In what is at best a transient transaction from some bums
A nice warm bath to wash the brain and drain it through a sieve
Clean the mind to make it clear
Fiduciary responsibilities run well-oiled like machines
With money and an ample supply of greed in sight
Visual acuity falls in favor of fovea decline
If we turn our heads fixated on another place and time
This all would fall within the parameters of an acceptable crime
And relegated as a focus faded to the blind pretending all is fine
The brief case opens up with a screw driver magically divined
From the filthy pockets of the hobo guys
To find our fantasies and nothing more inside
