The Tide's Tale

Wanting solitude I walked by the sea Anxious sky, plunging surf , gulls calling.. I left a trail of footprints in the sand. I saw a ship far out, sails torn by the wind It rolled and heaved and staggered… I left a trail of footprints in the sand. I heard a ship went down that day With never a monument erected.. But I remember that lonely day And footprints in the sand

I love poems that on the surface appear so simple, yet speak volumes. There's a stillness yet depth of emotion in the words.

Riveting and poignant... so many tragedies go unrecognized, quickly disappearing from sight, like your footprints... Well done indeed!! Best wishes, Keith

Beautiful and sad. Like Sharon, I love the repetition of the foot prints but the whole write is a lovely work of art. As always, thank you for your kind words. GBY! Love, Robin

A beautiful and haunting write. Love the repetition of the foot prints in the sand. Such a lonely and sad feel, but I somehow sense an inner strength. Yes, this is haunting and very well penned. Love, Shar

So often we cango on remembering what we've seen, things we've done and reflect upon those days, while so much can be noticed and yet remaind hidden to others, hence no monument. Terrific tone and flow. A wonderful read. Michael
