The Thing Outside

three knocks on the crimson door, kill your malice, sweep the floor. lock the keyhole, peek outside, remove the curtains of your mind. it will persist, the thing outside one step forward (or back with pride). smell the stench beneath your sight left eye twitches through the night. let it in, take a look a poltergeist disguised in blue, it will persist this thing inside, lock the door, you lose this fight.

Yes, it sure is easier to fight things on the "outside" than it is to do battle with the feelings inside of us. Surely, we will always "lose this fight." Very astute observation in a great poem! Love, Carolyn
