The Sweat On My Brow Is the Burn In My Eyes

The man has got me doing time I am being punished, but committed no time There was no justice, I lost my rights The sweat on my brow is the burn in my eyes I dig the ditches in my orange coveralls Better than spending all day in a cell, staring at the same walls The day I was sentenced she told me goodbye The sweat on my brow is the burn in my eyes Breaking my back seven days a week I am so beaten down, too tired to speak I beg the good Lord take me away tonight The sweat on my brow is the burn in my eyes My shoulders ache, my feet are sore How many more times will I be led through this door I hunger for freedom, but the chains make me realize The sweat on my brow is the burn in my eyes
