The Swarm
.
in swirling swarm,
like wayward thoughts,
dark pestilence
from nowhere
suddenly descends
upon verdant farms,
darkening the summer
noonday sky;
hapless, helpless,
villages scramble,
stumble-- fanning
smoky embers of
hastily built bonfires,
stoking torches'
failing flames,
ah, frantic futility!
