The Summer Sunsets
I love a summer sunset
when sunlight takes her leave.
Pink and violet in the darkening sky,
like ribbons they seem to weave.
Colours deepen to indigo and rose
as the minutes, they tick by
and all too soon they fade to black
in the summer, nighttime sky.
Sunset is so fleeting.
I love to watch the show
as pastel colours richen
before they take their leave and go.
