The Student
Perched at his desk he studies
By reading his book he learns more and more
About the subject at hand he must know
The test is soon and he must do well
And deep down in his heart he knows he will perform
For on that day things will fall into place
And as his pen makes its mark
The paper will reflect
All the hard work he put at that desk
For he is a student that wants to do well
And he makes a promise to himself on that given night
“I am the man”
And he doesn’t lose sight of the larger plan
For success is his quest and affirmations he makes
Hoping they ring true he doesn’t dwell on them much
Believing in himself, he is a confident man
He has ability and a mind that is sharp
He is also smart
But he must work hard
To achieve the grade he must evade
Many temptations that pop in his way
And at his desk he begins and ends
Reading his book and learning as he goes
Flicking through the chapters with effortless ease
It is only himself that he must appease
